My totally serious guide to solving quadratic equations ✨
Sorry not sorry
I don't feel like writing rn, I feel like doing math🥰 so come
(Note = I used to take IGCSE Additional math and ext math soooo i hope this hepls if ur taking the same thing LOL)
(also pls don't unfollow i promise i wont be a full math blog 😔)
EXAMPLE =
x² + 4x + 4 = 0
ax² + bx + c
So as you can see there is a secret, hidden 1 in front of the x² so that will be our a value. For the b value you can get it in front of the x which is 4 and lastly the c is the number at the end with no variable so its 4.
TLDR; a = 1, b = 4, c = 4
So I usually make a big X thing and i put the product of a and c at the top and put the b value at the bottom. Like the pic above ig
So the product of a and c is 4 x 1 so it's 4 and then the b is just 4 so its 4.
THEN we gotta find 2 numbers that can be added to become 4 and mutliplied to become 4
SO it has to be like this (pretend the numbers are m and n)
m + n = 4
m × n = 4
So now we gotta do guess and check, I usually try to find the factors of the product, the one we have rn is 4 so
Factors of 4 are 1, 2 and 4
So let's try to find it! Let's try to check if 4 and 1 can.
1 + 4 = 5 ❌ <- doesn't add up to 4
2 + 2 = 4 ✅ <- adds up to 4
So now we just put it into the factors thing, Your answer should be (x+2)(x+2) or (x+2)²
BUT WAIT We're not done yet!
We gotta find x
So since it's (x+2) multiplied by (x+2) that means x + 2 = 0
and we just solve algebraically
x + 2 = 0
x = -2
So there's your answer
OR You could always use the

delf update...

my hands were trembling and my stomach was growling for 2h30 mins and we waited for one hour to start since yknow gotta make sure everyone is present and just when i was about to take a bite of my bread the dude told us to go in our rooms..😭
ok so there were 3 listening exercises for the oral comprehension:
1.)first one, first listen:😶😵 - the story was so quick i was so lost...i only ticked the 2 final questions's boxes first as i found their answers at the end...when i was thinking about the answer for question one they were giving the answer for question two😭
first one, second listen:😃 - i was able to tick all of the previous questions and find the answers and clear all confusion i guess... i focused more...the person's voice was clear😛
2.)second one, first listen: 🤔🙂 - i got the grip of it better than the first one and found most of the answers right away...the voice of the people were pretty clear and audible
second one, second listen:😁👍🏻- was able to find the 2 remaining answers i was stuck on...# slay
3rd exercise ...
so the 3rd exercise was not slayful...this one had 2 questions each for 3 little passages...BUT THERE WAS ONLY ONE LISTEN😱
1.) first one... :🙂🤨IM SORRY BUT I WAS LOWKEY CONFUSED...😭IT WAS SO QUICK...some parts i heard some ...were a bit inaudible to me...but the 2nd question's answer is definitely right...don't know bout the first one tho.
2.) second one... :(ಠ⌣ಠ) i don't even remember what the text was about...
3.) third one... :HAHA...😔💀😔💀😔...WORST OF THEM ALL
i only heard gibberish...it was in and out of my ear bro...the tone of voice of the ppl were definitely different...it was 60% pretty inaudible to me and i was stuck with choosing the right answer for the first question...BECAUSE BOTH THE FIRST OPTION AND SECOND LOOKED THE SAME TO ME😔...so i was indecisive and took the 2nd option then scribbled and chose the first answer.
since my dumbass could barely hear shit...i missed half the story and was unable to know the last question's answer...so i just chose one randomly...

the writing comprehension was pretty good so no complaints..

the written production...
i swear to god i hated the word limit given...its the same word limit for o-level igcse...250 WORDS IS FUCKING NOTHING.
ugh so i did watch a vid yesterday the teacher sent and did memorise the format...
but now...i did my research...AND WHY ARE ALL THE FORMATS all almost right but there is something always different...😭💀...the teachers sent multiple but i only read one....💀
i probably fumbled some parts in that one...the formal letter's theme was relatively okay...yeah...i wrote 320 words at first...cut so many words but since i was getting so tired and and my dyslexic in maths ass...the math was not mathing so i kept on losing count...😔i was able to cut it at around 300 or a bit less...but its def more than 250..so i gave up and wrote 297 in the word bar💀🤩
k bye...

#personal folder⋆。˚ ☁︎ ˚。⋆。#delf exam#life update#second language#i def think i may pass though...😭#lets hope for the best on the oral speaking though#french#francais

IGCSE
Heyy everyone
So did CIE's IGCSE and *hair flip* got an A* in all my subjects.
So yeah I'm just tryna help. Fr.
Now listen u dont need to get an A* to be happy with ur grades. If those are ur goals then u go girl. If those are not u still go girl.
But my mum always says "Always aim higher than what u can get. Then you will reach the farthest u can go. Now go make another omelette for me."
Now a major thing I would do before an exam is open a candidate response, the qp, the ms and the examiner report.
Do each question, check with the markscheme, check the candidate response and assess where u are and then the examiner report.
I love this so much: https://paper.sc/
Examiner reports are a really underrated resource and are REALLY HELPFUL.
Use the 'IGCSE' reddit and discord server
IGCSE Notes – Soumya Pandey
Here are some of the resources I used and each subject tips
Maths:
Past papers past papers past pAPERS PAST PAPERS PAST PA-
Girl i cant tell u enough
Also makes sure to learn all the calculator tricks including the linear equations one, differentiation (the only ones I can think off the top of my head)
Make sure to practice past papers have good time management. Calm down during the exam. It'll all be fine.
(trust me i went and got bangs cause i was depressed about the way i wrote the exam and here we are)
Sciences:
Use the examiner report tip. Always always use the syllabus of each subject. And ofc past papers
Skill for Science Packs - Google Drive
Bio:
Drives:
IGCSE Biology (0610) notes from MS - Google Drive
bio
Chem:
Heather Houston - YouTube
IGCSE all chemical tests - YouTube
Drives:
chm
0620 Chemistry – Google Drive
Phy:
physics resources
Business:
Bs is one of the easist subjects cause of the repeated questions and the low thresholds. If there is one subject u wanna chose for fun let it be BS or EVM
EVM:
Smallest syllabus ever
Just do past papers you'll be fine
Ik everyone says that but thats cause its true
The same advice goes to ICT. Like the practicals are the easiest shit u can think of but a big mistake that people do is forget theory.
Study for theory and u get good marks.
English (1st language) :
My fav subject in IGCSE
It was sooo good
Always choose descriptive its just easier to score in
Go read books from good authors like Madelline Miller, Katherine Arden, and Ocean Vuong. Get phrases that u really like and copy them into a word document. Go through it before the exam and use it in the writing
You can also use: https://www.descriptionari.com/
Examiners' Secrets: Descriptive Writing (Mr Salles) - YouTube
Paper 1 video
---------
AND THATS ALL
To everyone doing their GCSE's
All the best
Just remember that it isnt everything. Year 10 and 11 is all about finding urself and having the time of ur life. I sure as hell did. And at the end of the day these results dont matter half as much as u think. Its not that they're not important. Its just that there are more important things in the world.
Go live ur best life before the A level train hits.

HI!!!! so i saw your reblog and i wanted to ask how you manage writing and also studying in uni!!
i'm a highschool sophomore (igcse student) and i have mocks rn and its KILLING ME. like i dont have time to write or the motivation to do so </3
so if you have any advice or tips i'd love to hear them <33
hi there! i guess from your message and my basic knowledge on the british education system you're from the uk, so good luck with your upcoming exams!
and as for you questions on how balancing writing with a university degree, i'd say the key is planning and always listen to yourself and what you need/want to do/feel in the mood to do!
most of the times i try finding some time to write daily, but when I'm too stressed and overwhelmed (as i'm right now) i know i, sadly, need to stop for some time and dedicate my writing time to other stuff, like planning upcoming fics/series or reading, for example (this is what I'm doing right now and in two days i've finished two books)
if you don't feel in the mood to write or don't have time to do it, just let it be and don't feel pressured! i sometimes feel bad because i'm not able to post here, specially all the requests i have, but as much as I'd love to I'm the whole day in front of my computer studying and, specially during these past days, researching and writing part of my final degree tesis/project, which is writing but definitely not a cool one. do i feel bad? yes, but then I remember that my studies come first and I have middle term exams, this project and also I need to get my c2 certification by the end of may/june and that's what comes first of me
maybe this has been a quite too long message, but i hope i helped you somehow! if you wanna know something else, or just want to ask any more questions, PLEASE do them because I'll be willing to help you even I'm not an expert on this writing/studying field :) <3

hey! i just finished my grade 12 exams and was looking into studying in germany. i was just curious what exactly you’re doing right now?
hi! so I have been waiting for someone to ask me this omg!!! currently cracking my knuckles opening up my laptop to answer this one
curriculum
so! essentially the main thing here is whether your high-school diploma is enough for university study, i.e: is it qualified as a Hochschulzugangsberechtigung, HZB. I did the International Baccalaureate diploma, and based on the curriculum (and subjects chosen) you have studied, the route will be different for you. the German curriculum is of course best for studying there, but the IGCSE one is solid too. I am not sure for others, I live in kenya, so the main education systems are the Kenyan one, IB, and the Cambridge IGCSE one. best websites to use to figure out how to get there are as follow. DAAD is based on anabin, but anabin is from the culture ministers conference (the OG guys of deciding this study)
DAAD:
https://www.daad.de/en/studying-in-germany/requirements/admission-database/
anabin:
https://anabin.kmk.org/no_cache/filter/schulabschluesse-mit-hochschulzugang.html#land_gewaehlt
the main categories are:
a. diploma valid in both country of education + Germany
b. diploma valid in only country of education, not germany
c. diploma not valid
field of study
based on your choice for your field, and also bachelors, masters or phd, all play a role. stem courses will generally not be taught in English, and you will just have to know German, if you want to study stem. unless you can find a specific international university, there are almost no courses (I could not find even one pure physics course in English) for stem in English. if there are, you will probably compromise on quality of education.
humanities courses are taught in English, so if you go into literature, business, psychology, economics, hotel management, etc. there are plenty of courses at very very good universities.
public universities are usually the best in Germany, have relatively low tuition (recently introduced in some uni's for international students) and are extremely high in quality.
what I am doing rn
my diploma went into category b, above. despite getting above average IB points, being a student with tons of extracurriculars, the subjects I took, along with the general regard of the IB diploma in Germany resulted in my situation.
I have to do a studienkolleg (a foundation course for international students). in order to apply for a stem oriented course, as I am going into physics (women in stem!!), I need a studienkolleg, and in order to go into the studienkolleg, I need B2 German.
I have essentially taken a year off (may 2023 - sept 2024) to figure out how I am getting there. I started German in September 2024, after figuring out I need to know it + I need a foundation. everyone online has said you can't learn a foreign language in a year - do not listen to them, it is entirely possible, difficult, but honestly doable.
so yeah! ask if you have any other questions. despite all this, the reason I want to study there is quality of education in relation to tuition, the job market, the benefits for international students, and the quality of life.
#studying#studying in germany#international students studying in germany#how to study in germany#ib students in germany#I just saw all my asks sorry to everyone I have not replied to#I am so sorry#I will be replying I swear#studyblr#studyspo#study aesthetic#stem#women in stem#study motivation#aesthetic#aesthetic studying#studystudystudy

The "skull numbing to the max but extremely useful in the long run" task of the day is inventorying the past IGCSE papers we have in our common drive + renaming all the files to something less obscure if you don't know how the exam works + recording which papers (or section of papers) were given to which IGCSE promotion so that we can
avoid giving them the same paper twice and
make it so people who don't know French can use the database to give the students something to do if they have to cover for me at the last minute
Now the question is do I link to each file from the database [think emoji]
#Matt has a life#Shit from work#It's both skull numbing and cool bc it gives me an occasion to indulge into the small joy of making an excel spreadsheet

What is up with all these school boards? SSC, CBSE, IB, IGCSE, so and so forth?
Well, let me try putting it this way. Imagine you're in a fight. There's two ways to win it. Either be a black belt in karate or...be 6'6 and built like an ox. Subtly disarm the opponent with your skill with a sword or break their teeth with an uppercut. Either have technique or brute force. That's school boards for you. IB, IGSCE are all about technique. Write papers, organise events, research, etc. etc. SSC, CBSE are brute force. Write actual papers? Go to hell. Organise events? Organise your 500 page notes. Research? How about solve 50 questions of long division by tomorrow. Memorise this chapter. And, for good measure, go screw yourself.
I'm from SSC. No, I did not enjoy memorising my textbook. Now I am in a Liberal Education college. Go figure.
