in true canadian fashion: sorry i'm late

although, in some ways, i'm actually early. You know what I realized doing this ambitious painting? this year is going to be the 15th anniversary of IAMP.

The call for auditions was uploaded September 22, 2009, and if I recall correctly my audition as artist and VA was accepted around October or November of that same year. I've grown a lot as an artist and as a person in that long time and for some weird reason I just can't let these guys go.

anyway, thanks for everyone who participated in the roulette, I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but I really struggle drawing all of these guys without losing steam. it really helped! especially since I don't do a lot of gouache work and I second guessed myself a lot. It warms my heart a little to see you guys engaged in this silly game.

what else is there to say. oh yeah, I put two types of maple leafs. the stereotypical sugar maple is in the upper right of course, but I also put a manitoba maple in the lower left because that's the kind of maple I'm most familar with where I'm from. it's long been my mission to bring the western rep in whatever I do, so it's kind of my love letter signature to my own constantly changing understanding of Who Am I and Where Am I From.

Drew all the @project-canada provinces and territories in my new anime-inspired style! I based their poses on the ones in that old height chart that Sherry did back in 2011 or something (now I feel old), but I obviously drew them myself from reference. (I don't believe in tracing.)

So, to finally post something for Indigenous history month, I made a Cutesy comic with Nanook and Owen.

So the name that the province of Saskatchewan goes by, is a shortened and modernized version of the original word of the Saskatchewan River, Kisiskatchewanisipi, which is Cree for ‘Swift-flowing river’.

Which was what most people called the river.

It is unknown (at least to modern peoples) as to the reason why Government did this when the District was formed in 1882.

4E Ralph plz

so i like this one and i'll tell you why: when i was in elementary school many eons ago, we had an assignment to draw whichever halloween mask was placed at our table and create a piece with it. I got this grumpy looking guy with long black hair and a beard and moustache (maybe he was a pirate?) so in my drawing i filled in his eyes and gave him an "i <3 coffee" shirt and a big mug and i think i really captured his murderous expression.

(my art teacher who was my Rival and Enemy, unbeknownst to me, entered the finished work in a display at a bank which I didn't find out until after Mr. Guy as I referred to him was back in my hands with a mysterious blue ribbon.) In a great failing and despite being framed and well loved by my parents, Mr. Guy was lost when we were moving back to Canada... so I can't show you what he looked like. All I have of him is my memory :C

Also I didn't have a small enough detailing to do the text on Bert's mug but it was inspired by one I saw at dollarama the other week (below)

i got over some of (but not all of) my block on this comic that's spinning out of control. there should be more i assume but idk when.

Flashbacks take place sometime between October 2019 and March of 2020, I think.

FIFO stands for Fly-In-Fly-Out (i.e. oil camp shift work)

i said earlier in the wips about how i like the trope where stoic characters have the same facial expression for everything- I just think it's funny that for Ben his sole expression is ^_^

joel saying "great to have you back home" is referring to ben being on the east coast / in his element, i'm not conflating NL with the Maritimes I promise.

that said I think they know him well enough that they can tell when he's PISSED lol. I feel like Ben tends to mask his anger a lot (which is why I showed his anger in a reflection rather than on his face in part 6 above there.

but yeah the point of this page is kind of. "ben isnt an idiot and he was genuinely mad and everyone knew it". well. everyone except bertie obviously.

ok seriously what questions do we still have to answer and how do i end this comic before the epilogue is longer than the og? i dont knowwwwww! tell meeeeeeee.

If you’d seen the sustainable Saskatchewan ads, it feels like Saskatchewan is doing a very great job, Right? Well, it’s just Moe trying so hard to brag about how we are a strong, and successful Province, all while not really acknowledging how underfunded our Education, and Healthcare systems are, among other problems...

Yeah, Despite the claim of the ads, we’re still a dumpster fire, lol.
