Note
I think that naturally Boris actually has a pretty normal voice but he makes it louder on purpose.
Also Iblis doesn't do FULL full sentences with his soundboard since he finds it inconvenient to put his fingers all the way over to whatever word he needs so small things like some "the" or "a" and stuff won't be said. Like he'll say "there's cat. Cat coming near." Instead of the actual full sentence. ("There's a cat. The cat is coming near us.")

Ooohhh, yes that makes sense. I do that with sign language a lot too…

Major Plotpoints So Far:
Scourge "rescues" Infinite from a base built by Eggman Nega with the intention of using him to defeat Sonic, but Infinite quickly asserts his dominance over the situation; Scourge and Infinite agree to an alliance of sorts, but that eventually turns into a mutual familial bond, and they basically adopt each other as father and son figures
Meta (Metal Sonic given a Mobian hedgehog body by Dr. Eggman) discovers Scourge and Infinite and proceeds to be very antagonistic until they are shown kindness and hospitality; Scourge and Meta butt heads at first because Scourge is afraid Meta will replace him in his relationship with Infinite, but Infinite reassures Scourge that this won't happen, and Scourge learns to eventually see Meta as a younger sibling; Scourge, Meta, and Infinite proceed to move into Infinite's old abandoned family home
Scourge accidentally releases Mephiles from his prison after snatching the artifact he was trapped in that was pulled through time thanks to one of Eggman's machines; Mephiles uses Scourge's shadow to take his form, but due to the circumstances of him being out of his own timeline his form is unstable and he must remain close to Scourge in order to tether himself to the timeline; Meta takes interest in Mephiles from a scientific standpoint and decides to study him while Mephiles proceeds to quite dramatically be a nuisance in the three's lives, especially Infinite's; Mephiles eventually takes Infinite's form to mock him but in doing so he becomes weakened, which prompts Meta to suggest he be given his own mortal body as well; Mephiles is given a body and leaves for a short period of time before returning and properly integrating himself into the family because of his attachment to Meta (and Meta's to him); Mephiles and Infinite discover they have feelings for each other despite everything
Flatline pulls Iblis from Mephiles' timeline into theirs and gives her a mortal Mobian hedgehog form like Mephiles' in order to distract Mephiles enough to where he can get at Infinite's Phantom Ruby, except he botched the process and made her body unstable; Mephiles ruins Flatline's plans by rejecting Iblis in the moment in order to save his current family, but he quickly returns to reassure her that he isn't going anywhere and invites her to join them instead; Iblis agrees because of her love for Mephiles, and Flatline is forced to stay with them as well to work with Meta to stabilize Iblis' body; Flatline eventually grows fond of the family despite his initial ulterior motives, and he decides to stay for real even after Iblis is stabilized; Infinite, Mephiles, and Iblis become a triad after Mephiles reassures Infinite that his feelings for him have not changed even with Iblis in the picture now; Mephiles and Iblis discover they can still fuse into Solaris, just in hedgehog form, and they can also unfuse at will
Flatline discovers Julius (Scourge's late father) was revived similarly to how he was revived--wild chaos energy--and pulled across space into their world; Julius stays with the family but everyone kind of hates his guts because they know about how he used to treat Scourge and why Scourge took his life; eventually Scourge confronts Julius and tells him the full and honest truth about how he feels and has always felt, which finally puts things into perspective for Julius; Julius and Scourge slowly but surely begin to mend their relationship
Sonic runs into Scourge one day and discovers Infinite is back, but upon seeing how neither of them care to get into it with him, he becomes curious and decides to talk to Scourge one-on-one for a while, slowly discovering how much Scourge has changed thanks to his living situation; Sonic and Scourge eventually develop feelings for each other, but Sonic makes a point to make sure Scourge knows Shadow will be involved as well, which ends up not being a huge issue for neither Scourge nor Shadow, and the three of them also become a triad
Scourge, Sonic, and Shadow accidentally create a baby when a giant explosion of their combined chaos energy happens during a high-speed race; they name the child Bangarang (or Bang for short) and proceed to raise them together, with Bang staying at Scourge's place for the majority of the time as Sonic and Shadow don't really have a solid housing situation; Mephiles sees Bang and suggests to Infinite that they have a similar child, and when he agrees, they combine their essences using the Phantom Ruby and Mephiles' god powers to create a jackalhog named Moon; Moon and Bang grow up alongside each other, and Moon eventually renames himself to Vacío to honor Infinite; Bang slowly discovers his Doom powers as they part Black Arms like Shadow, and while they have an easy time wrangling those, Vacío struggles with his Phantom Ruby abilities that he inherited from Infinite
Eggman revives Black Doom by giving him a Mobian hedgehog body like he did with Meta, with the intention of using him against Sonic and Shadow; Black Doom only complies with the intention of getting revenge on Shadow and possibly forcing him over to his side finally; Black Doom manages to shake up Scourge's family by subtly and slowly manipulating Scourge, and eventually this leads to Black Doom full-on controlling Scourge's mind; Sonic, Shadow, and the rest of Scourge's family are able to break him free from Black Doom's control in the end
--
Possible Future Plotpoints:
Mephiles and Iblis have a child, as well as Infinite and the collective Solaris
Some kind of family thing with Black Doom and Shadow (I can't help myself lol. we ball)
fleetway super and nicky will be there i guess
--
Extra Important Tidbits:
Meta uses they/them pronouns at first, but later realizes she feels happiest when referred to in a feminine way
The entire family hates that Scourge is dating Sonic and Shadow, but they begrudgingly support him because their love for him is stronger than their hatred for Sonic and Shadow
Mephiles and Iblis remember Sonic and Shadow, and Sonic remembers them, but nobody else remembers them as they are from an erased timeline
Iblis is indifferent towards Sonic and Shadow, whereas Mephiles heavily dislikes them both
Infinite is closer to Mephiles than he is with Iblis, but the three of them are still a very solid and healthy polyamorous relationship
The AU takes place a while into the future; Scourge is 23 at the start of the AU, Meta is 22, and Infinite is 37
--
That's all I have for now! I have a fic version slowly being written as well as a potential comic version (hopefully). This is an ongoing, still-developing AU that just keeps growing, so things may be changed/added/removed as time goes on! :) I hope you stick around to see what unfolds! <3

Character Rewrite: Princess Elise. When Elise was a young child, to prevent an apocalyptic disaster, her father sealed half of Solaris; Iblis, inside of her. Elise was aware of her duty to the family and her people, willingly becoming it's vessel. Before her father died of his injuries, he told her to stomp on her anger to prevent the flames from overtaking her. She must not get angry, no matter what happens.
Because of her youth, a lot of advisors in her kingdom had taken power from her or often tried to manipulate her into decisions she didn't want to make. She was unable to stand up for herself or fight back, and lacking control made her angry. She would set things on fire around her by accident when frustrated. To prevent this, she often retreated into her mind, dissociating, masking her negative emotions. She knew it wasn't the best coping mechanism.
So, to keep her mind as peaceful as possible, she'd practice meditation, drink warm tea, and go to the spa. Her people and advisors often saw her as spoiled or weak, not knowing that if she let her stress consume her, everyone around her could die. She was actively protecting them from a great disaster, and they didn't even know it.
Then, when she was kidnapped by Eggman, in came Sonic, who whisked her away from everything- the stress of her duties as princess, as well as the vessel. She saw different parts of her kingdom, traveled far, met many people, and did amazing things she would only dream of. It was all thanks to Sonic, whom she became rather attached to. She even encountered Blaze, another princess of flame, who offered to teach her how to control her powers before an untimely, tragic death. Elise could cry all she wanted, for grief was impossible to stifle. But when Mephiles snuck up and killed Sonic, her closest friend and symbol of salvation and freedom- she snapped. The flames of Iblis activated from within her soul, and she fought Mephiles with more power than she's ever used. It was more than she could take- especially without training. Her anger eventually consumed her, and Iblis broke free of her, fusing with Mephiles. Timey-wimey stuff happens, too much to really rewrite, but when Sonic and Elise go into the past, right before she becomes the vessel and she is meant to blow out the flame- saving so many people from death... she hesitates. Because it means she'll forget all about Sonic. She'll forget all their adventures, all her happiness, all her exhilaration. (She'll miss her power over fire too, even if she wouldn't say so) But Sonic insists that their timeline will always be real to them, even if they don't remember, and convinces Elise by reminding her that- with the flame inside of her gone, she'll finally be free. Free to let her emotions go, free to command her kingdom like a queen she was always meant to be. So she blows out the flame, and resets all that happened.

I think your portrayal of Silver is more accurate than some askers give you credit for. I think the worst characterization of him in the Sonic fandom is when they portray him as a Whiney Sad Boi who can't stop complaining, or an overly-cautious mom friend. These portrayals perplex me so much because in 06, he almost never complains, is very hasty and reckless, and has no qualms with putting his life on the line to protect others. His FIRST INSTINCT when he found out how to stop Iblis was to sacrifice himself. Hell, the only real time he complained/whined was when Blaze was about to sacrifice herself, but considering she was probably the only real positive thing in his nightmare of a life, I think that can be forgiven.
The way I see it Silver is a well meaning kid who’s got the personality of a golden retriever, but is also brash and has a very short fuse, he has good intentions but sometimes his execution of said intentions could use some work. He honestly could be the mom friend, anxious high strung one because of how much pressure is constantly on his shoulders to be the saviour of the future any time something seems to be going wrong but at the end of the day his biggest worry is keeping people happy and hopeful since that seems to be his whole thing being the one who still has hope in a world where no one else does
Silver “sometimes murder is the answer” The Hedgehog

Though I think Rivals is a bad portrayal of him, that game makes everyone a rude asshole. Still funny that he robs tails XD

(Spoilers for IDW Sonic #76)
Tumblr media
Lemme tell you guys what makes Silver's characterization on this page so deliciously juicy to me. It's a bit of a doozy to explain, but bear with me
In Sonic 06, you start out with Sonic's story mode as the default. So if you were playing the game for the first time and had no idea who Silver was, you would initially believe he's an antagonist, based on how focused and single-minded he is on killing Sonic (to the point of not noticing Sonic is trying to rescue someone). But as you get further into the game, you unlock Shadow's and Silver's story modes as well, and you learn why Silver initially wants to kill Sonic.
In Silver's story, it's revealed that he comes from a post-apocalyptic future ravaged by Iblis's flames. Silver, being naive and trusting, is told by Mephiles that if he wants to bring hope and peace to his world, all he has to do is kill the one person who caused this devastation in the first place, the "Iblis Trigger": Sonic. (Obviously Mephiles is lying to get Silver to do his dirty work for him.) But as Silver spends more time in the past, he befriends people like Amy, who lead him to question his goal. This in turn leads to one of the overarching themes of Silver's campaign:
Tumblr media
"...is that really the right thing to do?"
Now I'm not here to debate this moral dilemma, at the end of the day the target demographic of this game and the Sonic franchise as a whole is young boys, so obviously the story won't get too deep into a topic like that. But I have a reason for bringing this up.
Ultimately, after learning who the real Iblis Trigger is and thinking things over, Silver decides to help Sonic rescue Elise to prevent her from dying in a crash and thus releasing Iblis prematurely. (This is also why Mephiles says "Screw it" and just kills Sonic himself in the end.) But Elise is still a mortal, so at some point in the 200 years between Sonic's time and Silver's, she still dies and her death still unleashes Iblis upon the world. Returning to a future that's still in ruins, Silver tries to seal Iblis within himself, only for Blaze to take his place; Iblis accepts her as a host due to her pyrokinesis, and her body disintegrates as her spirit vanishes into the sky, parting the clouds and returning light to a once bleak world. Silver finally gets to see the clear skies and bright sunshine of the past in his own era, but at the cost of having to reckon with the loss of his closest friend.
So what does any of this have to do with Silver wanting to help Whisper kill Mimic?
In the final story of 06, after Super Sonic, Super Shadow, and Super Silver defeat Solaris, Sonic and Elise are taken back in time to when Solaris was just a little flame, and Elise makes the difficult decision to blow the flame out in order to save everyone the grief it will cause. By destroying Solaris in the past, the events of Sonic 06 are erased from the timeline.
Elise never meets Sonic because he never has to rescue her from Eggman.
Eggman has no motive to invade Soleanna because there's no longer any so-called "Flames of Disaster" to entice him.
And because there's no Mephiles to send him back in time to kill an Iblis Trigger, all of Silver's character development is undone.
Now, the first time he's technically met Sonic and co. was in Sonic Rivals, where he travels back in time to track down Eggman Nega and stop him from turning the planet and everyone who lives on it into cards.
So if Silver seems a little too eager to kill Mimic as revenge...I believe that it's because he's technically never had to confront the idea of taking a life before. This Silver, the one who's never encountered Solaris and only just now got to see Soleanna for the first time on his little world tour with Blaze, never had to contend with what killing means, or the consequences that come with it, or how traumatic the act of killing can be.
Would this be retreading old ground for Silver? Kinda, yeah, but given the context of both 06 and the Duo thing, I honestly don't think it's a bad idea for him to go through this dilemma again
And for me personally, no matter how things go, it's gonna be so great to watch it all play out

LORE DUMP LORE DUMP LORE DUM-
wall of text jumpscare below the cut
Alright @jadedazemations @tazienimp get in here ye asked for this
So my au is essentially if you turned all the sonic characters into gods that are part of a mythology. It's centered around Mephiles and Neos relationship but im gonna get the creation myth of my au out of the way first.
It starts with the chaos emeralds which are lumped together into one primordial being called Khaos (I couldn't help myself greek myths are some of my favourite) which created the universe, the planet (which is just gonna be Mobius because Earth is kinda lame and the au is called gods of mobius) and humans. But since humans tend to do some bad stuff Khaos creates the underworld and a psychopomp to guide souls of humans and animals there.
(That psychopomp is Neo btw he's essentially a death god in this (also because irl there's a correlation of symbolism between the grim reaper and time but more on that later.))
The underworld is a salt river. Souls that are unable or undeserving to move on cant stay afloat and sink to the bottom of the river, where they endure trials and punishments by the demons that guard the underworld, until their souls get light enough to float on top of the water and they get carried to the end of the river to be reincarnated.
Back to Khaos. One day, Khaos gets to ambitious in his creations and creates Solaris out of most of his own essence. He's proud of creating Solaris at first, but he soon realises how powerful he is and fears he's gonna replace him as a creator and god and he's gonna lose worship of the humans. So he ambushes Solaris and tries to kill him. Their ensulting battle terraforms Mobius, raising the land and Khaos' presence filling the Valleys with water, creating giant oceans.
(On a sidenote, I wanted Khaos to have a connection to water, both because of the chaos from sa1, but also because in egyptian myth the vastness of space was a giant ocean, which i feel is fitting for a primordial god, especally because Khaos would end up becoming the night sky.)
During their battle, Khaos uses most of his power to split Solaris into Iblis and Mephiles, but in the process he fractures and and gets scatered across the sky becoming the stars and moon. Iblis is very unhappy with this predicament and in his rage proceeds to chase Khaos' fragments across the sky with him turning into the sun to create the day night cycle and leaving his other half behind to cope with the pain of the split on his own.
(This was inspired by an aztec myth in which the stars and moon chase the sun because it got them killed. Also the moon is a severed head don't ask.)
Some of Khaos fragments fall back to Mobius and create the other gods upon touching the ground (like Sonic, Knuckles, Amy, Tails etc). Mephiles is essentially the last remnant of Khaos power on Mobius so he is unofficaly recognised by the humans to be the leader of the new pantheon of gods which neither Mephiles nor the other gods are particularly keen on.
Now, onto Metalphiles and their copious amount of symbolism.
Neo is a death god/psychopomp because of that one sonic dash halloween skin, which I made a Neo design for and it kinda spiraled into this au. (whoops)
Mephiles is still mostly a time god in this au, but i gave him a sickle in his design, despite it being an agricultural tool. This is because I was inspired by the greek deity Chronos, who was originally a god of agriculture, but was later reinterpreted by the romans to be a time god because of the similarity of his name to the greek word for time (Kronos).
Funnily enough, this ties back to Neo because the grim reaper is also depicted with agricultural tools because of Chronos (/"father time") and his interpretation as a time deity. As a result of this, the hourglass also became a symbol for the reaper.
(This is why in my au they gift eachother a sickle and an hourglass respectively, because their real life inspirations for this au exchanged such symbols throughout their history and I wanted to include that somehow :)
errrr this should be enough yapping for now, if you wanna ask more, my inbox has been gathering dust for a while.

Here is a list of traits Silver has shown in the games, Sonic Channel and other Sonic Team made content:
Righteous, has a strong sense of justice and is driven to make things right
Kind-hearted, puts other people’s happiness before his own and will drop his mission to help others, is motivated by his desire to protect smiles, wants to use his powers not for himself, but to help others.
Extremely Determined
Optimistic and Hopeful, believes there’s always a chance as long as you don’t give up, inspires hope in the people he works with in Forces, the final story of Sonic 06 and when he helps Elise through her performance anxiety
Pure, has a “sincere, unpretentious and kind” demeanor and wears his heart on his sleeve, this genuineness and purity gives him an “enduring charm” that is one of the biggest things his friends, particularly Blaze, enjoy about him and makes others want to support him
Forthright, is very direct and frank with people and has a straight to the point mentality, is straightforward in his actions and thinking
Earnest and blunt to the point of naivety, expects people to believe and cooperate with him when he says he’s from the future, hides very little and is so honest that he announces himself when attacking Sonic
Not trusting post 06, doesn’t give Sonic a Chaos Emerald until he proves he’s real in Sonic Generations and is the most suspicious of Dodon Pa
Snide and Sarcastic, sneers at Eggman’s theme park in Sonic Colors and has a snotty attitude towards anyone he can one up, remarks “What am I doing?” when going with Amy
Brash, has rude/informal mannerisms and can be abrasive, particularly to people who are not his allies
Juvenile, described as young and immature by his creator Shun Nakamura, this immaturity ties into many aspects of his character as well as his purity but is also the source of his snotty attitude and rude behavior, supposedly he doesn’t like green peppers which is the Japanese equivalent of children not liking broccoli
Focused, proactive and practical mindset, seen particularly throughout Sonic Forces
Focused on his goals, Does not care what the plan is called in Forces, only that it works and when asked about his favorite race item he says that he likes Jade Ghost because “It lets him disappear and focus on the race”
Inquisitive and proactive, questioned others about how the world was destroyed in the Iblis future his whole life, fought Iblis to try and clear the sky himself, spent most of Team Sonic Racing cracking down on Dodon Pa and Eggman, reads into “Ancient Wisdom” in the good future
Sharp and intuitive, Figures out how to revive Sonic in 06, sees through Eggman Nega's disguises by noticing small details, does successful detective work in Sonic 06 and Team Sonic Racing, intuits Blaze trying to control great powers when seeing them for the first time, has solved various puzzles and mysteries by himself, “knows a lot” according to Sonic in Silver’s Sonic Channel introduction story
Skilled and Crafty, skillfully accomplishes various tasks during his Town Missions in Sonic 06, turns his fight with Sonic into a race to collect Chao in Sonic Rivals 2, Vector refers to him and Blaze as professionals in the Team Vector Nintendo Dream interview, has had jobs as a delivery boy, a figure skater, a “genius” skating coach and a butler
Trains off-screen and makes steady efforts to improve his abilities, seems to be self-taught in his skills
Sometimes takes everything on himself
Warrior with a warrior mentality, described as a warrior, enjoys fighting and will fight his friends for fun, fought and struggled for half his life in the Iblis future, values bravery and facing things head on, dislikes cowardice and indirect tactics, can endure “pain beyond description” and is undeterred by injuries (Shadow’s infamous kick to the head only made him mad)
Competitive and proud/confident in his abilities, has a smug attitude about his abilities and can get competitive over something as simple as handling Orbot and Cubot, clashes with Blaze the first time(s) they meet because of this
Headstrong and Confrontational, confronts Infinite alone because of this, gets offended when Blaze she calls him “weak” and treats him like an amateur
Very Emotional, tends to rush in and deal with things too head-on because of the strength of his feelings and start confrontations because he gets heated, his passion drives him forward but this same passion can cause him to be rash as his actions are dominated by his feelings
Hot Tempered and impatient, can be easily angered and gets frustrated or indignant when things don’t go his way, can get annoyed at things that get in the way or impatient with things that aren’t to the point, his sense of justice causes righteous indignation at great injustices, his temper can be quite similar to Blaze’s
Has Aggressive energy in both his demeanor and body language, generally has confident or determined expressions, often makes fists, punches things when he's frustrated and gets up by punching the ground
Can be Ruthless, has resorted to playing possum, sneaking past Soleanna guards, robbing people and killing to accomplish his goals
Courageous to the point of being Reckless, puts other’s safety before his own, instantly reacts to protect those around him when attacked in Sonic Comic, Instantly battle ready when surprised in Generations, fought against Iblis and its monsters from a very young age growing up in an extremely hazardous devastated future, both values bravery and dislikes cowardice, recklessly went off to face Infinite on his own and is noted to not back down even in the face of his mighty power, will sacrifice himself without a second thought if necessary
His way of life inspires others and makes them want to cheer him on, this even extends to real life as the illustration at the top this post inspired everyone in the office to give him a high five that day
Cannot lie but can change the subject
Doesn’t know how to explain/express himself at times
Scratches his head with his index finger when processing his thoughts
Feels joy and anger loudly but is quiet in sadness and contemplation
Gets rowdy, riled up and puts his all into things he’s feeling but is very low and quiet when something is on his mind or he’s feeling down(He’s totally autistic, this is autistic volume)
Has a mischievous side
Like apples, ate apple flavored rations in the Iblis future
Deeply appreciates peace, prosperity and people‘s smiles, beautiful vistas and people living peacefully leave him breathless
His desire for peace is seemingly driven by strong empathy for both the people and environment around him, blue skies make him feel at peace, natural beauty and people living prosperously takes his breath away, desolate or destroyed areas sadden and upset him, he can’t help but smile when he makes others smile and can’t stand to see the suffering in his destroyed futures
Has a very quiet, introspective and empathetic side (he deeply and quietly reflects on the morality of his mission throughout 06 and quietly takes in everything about Elise’s past)
AB blood type meaning that he's dual natured and adaptable based on the situation
Is a Taurus

I finished playing Sonic Rush Adventure for myself for the first time today, and in the spirit of appreciating old 00's Sonic games and their crazy lore, I'd like to share a theory about Blaze's confused origins and where her story might have been headed if her and Silver's storyline hadn't been scrapped. come with me on this archeological dig through the bizarre multi-game storytelling of Sonic games of yesteryear ✨✨
Blaze the Cat was first introduced in Sonic Rush in 2005, where she was a princess from a parallel dimension called the Sol Dimension. her kingdom was called the Sol Empire, and she guarded a set of seven magical gems similar to the Chaos Emeralds called the Sol Emeralds.
however, only a year later, Blaze was reintroduced in Sonic '06 as a seemingly normal girl from the distant future, who had spent her life fighting a losing battle against Iblis, the embodiment of the power and wrath of the shattered sun god Solaris, which had devastated the world. this version of Blaze didn't seem to have any memories of the Sonic Rush storyline, aside from a sort of wistful reaction when someone mentions Sonic.
Tumblr media
at the end of her storyline in Sonic '06, Blaze absorbs Iblis into her soul, then seals herself and Iblis away "to another dimension" to give the destroyed future a chance at bouncing back. as she does so, her color scheme briefly changes ... to resemble that of her super form from Sonic Rush, Burning Blaze (and it's not just the lighting either, look at how the cuffs on her clothes turn from white to hot pink)
Tumblr media
in Rush, Blaze was only able to become Burning Blaze when she was in possession of all seven Sol Emeralds, and infused them with positive emotion. in '06, she does not have the emeralds, but she does have a bonding moment with her bestie, Silver, seconds before transforming.
in '06, the Sol Emeralds are never mentioned, neither is the Sol Dimension, or the Sol Empire, or the fact that Blaze is a princess.
Solaris, aside from being a sun god, is also depicted as existing outside of time and space; when its complete form is fought at the end of the game, it has to be defeated in the past, present and future all at once in order to subdue it. Blaze sealing away Iblis in the future was not enough to prevent it from merging with its other half to become Solaris again at another point in time.
so here's my pet theory: if the games had ever returned to Blaze's story, it would eventually have been revealed that the Sol Emeralds - and potentially the entiretiy of Rush-Blaze's homeworld - are what became of Iblis' power after it and Blaze were sealed away in the other dimension. being a fragment of a god that exists eternally across time, it could have brought an entirely new world and timeline into being when transported to the other dimension. Solaris is already loaded with references to real-world religions, a parallel world+timeline coming into being as a result of a god somehow coming to harm would fit right in (I'm personally thinking of Earth being formed from the corpse of Ymir in Norse mythology, but lots of others exist as well that I'm less familiar with).
this is supported by multiple details across Sonic '06, Sonic Rush, Rush's direct sequel, Sonic Rush Adventure, as well as the Sonic Rivals games also released in 2006 and 2007, including:
- Iblis, in its powered-up form, is depicted as a lava monster, and when we go to visit the Sol Dimension in Rush Adventure, the story primarily takes place on a chain of islands with volcanic activity.
- in Rush, when the Sol Emeralds are stolen from the Sol Dimension and taken to the main story's dimension, the parallel worlds begin to merge, as if the Sol Emeralds are pulling the Sol Dimension with them. the Chaos Emeralds do not cause the same problem when they're in the Sol Dimension in Rush Adventure, suggesting the Sol Emeralds and Sol Dimension have a special link. it is also mentioned that the Sol Dimension is dependent on the Sol Emeralds to remain stable, which is also not the case with the Chaos Emeralds and the main dimension.
- the Sol and Chaos Emeralds are stated to be "like north and south on a magnet" in relation to each other; they are uniquely connected, and they seem to link the parallel dimensions together. in a scrapped line from the script of Sonic '06, Solaris is called "a bridge to other worlds", which could allude to this connection as well. two Chaos Emeralds were also present when Blaze transported Iblis to the other dimension, and all seven Chaos Emeralds were used to defeat Solaris, either of which could have created some kind of bond there.
- in Rush Adventure, an incredibly powerful magical force is locked away deep within a magma-filled cavern underground called the Power of the Stars, which upholds the energy field that separates and stabilized the multiverse. given the name and the visuals of the location, this could be another remnant of Iblis'/Solaris' power. the key to unlocking this power is a magical scepter; notably, Iblis' other half, which it must merge with to become Solaris, was sealed inside a different scepter, creating some thematic overlap.
- in the final story of Sonic '06, every character is brought together for the final battle against a newly reborn Solaris ... with the sole exception of Blaze, who has not been seen since she sealed that one version of Iblis away in the future. this suggests that wherever Blaze went was somehow beyond reach at this point, even when factoring in time travel and dimensions fracturing. so although Solaris is erased from existence in the final story, seemingly across all of time and space, it is possible that that one part of it remained with Blaze, tucked away in the Sol Dimension, which remains untouched by the events of the final story somehow.
- the Blaze we meet in Sonic '06 seems to have nerves of steel, but the Blaze we know from Rush and onward is notably uncomfortable around water and in the cold, which could be because she still has a stowaway lava monster in her soul (with her being a cat and a natural fire elemental herself perhaps being intentionally misleading). more notably, she has a phobia of heights - and if she has any subconscious memories of the old timeline, being high up off the ground would be the last thing she remembered before her old life was taken away from her:
Tumblr media
- the version of Blaze we know from the Rush games is said to be descended from a royal family who have run the Sol Empire and protected both the Sol Emeralds and the key to the Power of the Stars for generations. this is a 1-to-1 parallel to the way Solaris once entrusted itself in its passive form as a small flame to the royal family of Soleanna in the main dimension for generations, before it was fragmented and its wrath was provoked. Princess Blaze containing Iblis within her soul is also a direct parallel to Princess Elise of Soleanna doing the same before her. either Iblis "remembered" being cared for by a royal family and willed an entirely new empire into being for Blaze to be the princess of in order to have powerful people around to protect it, or I guess Solaris is just a diehard monarchist even when half-dead
- after '06, Silver is next seen in Sonic Rivals, where he is trying to prevent a different dimension-hopping lava monster from destroying the future, the Ifrit. aside from their names sounding similar, the Ifrit and Iblis look nearly the same. maybe the Ifrit is a part of Iblis that "chipped off" Blaze's soul when she was traveling through the multiverse, which took up residence in its own little pocket dimension?
Tumblr media
- the Rush and Rivals games also give us Eggman Nega, a character who is at first said to be a counterpart of sorts to Doctor Eggman from the Sol Dimension, only to later be revealed to actually be his descendant from the future. this could have been foreshadowing Blaze's character ending up on a similar path, albeit unknowingly.
- this is more of a narrative detail/thematic overlap than an in-universe hint, but after their lives were rewritten and their memories of their time together were lost, both Blaze and Silver are portrayed as friendless and maladjusted. Blaze was bullied growing up in the Sol Dimension, and Silver is stated to always have been alone in the new version of the future. both characters bond with other members of the cast and learn to trust again in Rush and Rivals 2, respectively. this may have been laying the groundwork for an emotional reunion between the two later down the line, where they realize that even though they couldn't remember each other, they were never really alone.
I'm willing to bet there are more hints hidden around if you dig for them, and if I think of any more connections, I'll add them in a reblog.
it's well-known at this point that a spinoff game starring Silver was planned to release sometime after '06, the Rush games and the Rivals games, but critical backlash and financial problems after '06 bombed caused Sega to change direction for the franchise, and Silver's game never manifested. I'm willing to bet Silver's game would have addressed the questions around Blaze's character. apparently, according to interviews, an answer to the mystery does exist internally at Sega ... maybe now that there is renewed interesting in spotlighting the franchise's supporting cast again in the new 20's, it'll come up again sometime. Shadow Generations was a huge success, and it picked up story threads left hanging from that same era of games, so you never know !!!

Tell me about the misc au hedgehogs
Oh gosh I could say so much about each dudeeee. Like. OUGGHH
Sonic the Hedgehog, formerly Nikki
A kind boy who was initially secretave about his past, choosing to only look towards the future. He's heroic and adventurous, and has a bit of an ego and attitude. He can be selfish and emotionally unobservant, but he's not cruel. Just kinda... Stupid.
He left his home and life as Nikki when he was 10. He changed his name to Sonic and decided to try to play off as a boy (even though he was born female.) he liked being Sonic and the thought of going back to his old identity was sickening. He never wanted to look back, so he didn't. He left because he felt suffocated by rules, and he heard about Dr. Robotnik terrorizing West Side Island, so that's where he went and met Tails and the rest is history.
Amy Rose
When she first met Sonic, she was infatuated by his bravery and heroism. She wanted to be like him, she tried her best to keep up, but she never could. She wanted to pull her weight. She decided that if she couldn't pull her weight with her skill and power, she's try to be the best friend she could. Her compassion is her real weapon and shield.
She's convinced many people to turn a new leaf and is a friend of all, even if she can be a bit stubborn. She's three years younger than Sonic.
Amy helped a lot of people, and even ended up dating Shadow and Neo Metal.
Shadow the Hedgehog
An android made 50 years ago aboard the ARK, designed with the initial motive to save the planet and solve problems with his adaptive learning. A failsafe program was installed in his code to keep him from going berserk, Maria's final wish, but after the ARK Raid, his memory files were altered, and he blamed G.U.N. for shooting Maria. (Maria is entirely a false memory, since she didn't live past toddler hood.)
Shadow is trying to be a good person in his own way, still stoic and often distant. He's afraid of being controlled, weaponized, or being just another mindless machine. He built up a mentality that since he's not organic, he's not truly a real person. Even though his friend try to beat that mentality out of him, he does relapse whenever he's proven right (He's usually more emotionally distant and touch adversed in these states.)
Shadow was made with old hardware, but his software gets constantly updated. Shadow often overheats and short circuits when he's experiencing intense emotions or spiraling because of how many programs he's running (sometimes he bluescreens and crashes) and he has a lot more or android world building but I've talked for long enough.
Silver the Hedgehog
A friend from 200 years in the future who was initially joined by his childhood best friend, Blaze. Him and Blaze were scavengers for a lot of their lives, until they got competent enough to fend off Iblis. Blaze was a normal person, no powers like Silver's. Silver was tricked by Mephiles, and after risking and saving the past, lost Blaze once she sealed Iblis inside herself. Silver was messed up for a long time, until he decides to do something. He goes to Little Planet and obtains the Time Stones, using them to return to the past.
Silver befriends Espio and lives with the Chaotix Detective Agency, and also works with them. He's also a good friend of Amy since he has a soft spot for her. Silver and Espio are dating, but they don't announce it or anything.
Scourge the Hedgehog, formerly Manic
Sonic's younger brother (2 year gap) and the last person to see Nikki before they ran away to become Sonic. Manic looked up to Nikki, and when they left, he was devastated. He felt guilty for Nikki leaving, he blamed himself, and he hated himself for it. His family was tense from the stress and loss of Nikki, so Manic depended on friends for comfort and as an escape, but that turned out to be a bad influence as the people he spent time with lead him down the wrong path.
Present day, his name is Scourge, he's vengeful and hates Sonic. To him, Nikki doesn't exist anymore, it's just Sonic. He tries to sabotage Sonic, trying to make Sonic feels anything close to what he went through. He eventually gets arrested LOL I don't know exactly what he does though. Him and Fiona do still date and are actually childhood friends.
Sonia the Hedgehog
Sonic's older sister (3 year age gap) who tried to steer Nikki in the right direction, but was crushed under the weight of Nikki's absence. She withdrawaled almost completely, dedicating her time to search if her sibling was still alive.
I don't have a ton about her yet.

was thinking about my silly YGO Band AU a while back but its spread across like 3 posts and secret tags so I am putting it all in one place for posterity and my own sanity
90's grunge group "PHARAOH" consists of Atem, Anzu, Honda, and Jou. Yugi is the secret song writer behind all their hits, but is too insecure to take public credit, so he has Atem act as charismatic frontman and pretend to have written all their songs. Does this make Atem increasingly uncomfortable? Yes. Will he say anything? lol
Pegasus of I2 records is their eccentric boss, who is happy to keep Yugi and Atem's secret as long as the money keeps rolling in.
Seto Kaiba, a solo act who runs his own label, cannot be managed but in practice delegates those duties to Mokuba and Isono. Swears revenge against Atem for knocking him off the charts, without realizing that Yugi is his real rival.
Ryou Bakura is a very polite boy who writes demonic-sounding deathcore and uses a gallon of fake blood every performance. Has a legion of dangerously rabid teen girl fans. Managed by his widely disliked twin brother, who spends as much time protecting his little bro from their own stalker-y fanbase as he does price-gouging merch and used tissues to sell to those same obsessed teenage girls.
Synthy art pop quartet The Harpies rumored to be on the verge of throwing out their frontwoman, after she made several controversial statements regarding what she views as blatant award snubs.
Over-the-top symphonic goth darkwave act "Marik Iblis and the Orchestra of Ghouls" have trashed yet another hotel room; states beleaguered manager Rishid, "even offstage, sometimes he gets lost in the character."

Nah cuz now I’m thinking Wooly is like her handler or something. He always tryna keep her “on track” and doing a regular children’s show. The broken tape showing him going around her in a circle, and then the big wooly eating everything definitely count against him too. And then he wanted to get rid of all of her stuff. I could’ve sworn the robot was in the attic in the first game so those are probably Rebecca’s real toys. It’s like he wants her to forget about her old life and embrace her identity as Amanda.
At first I thought Wooly was one of the children they kidnapped, as we don’t know what happened to them. But now I think he something else. It’d be crazy if every object in the show that has eyes is one of the children that have disappeared.
So the medieval cult survives in the present day as Hameln. The show Sam started with Rebecca turned out to be a hit, and so they wanted it to attract more children to kidnap or reach more children? Hamelin is the name of the town the Pied Piper went to. I wonder what they want children for. And so I think when Sam vanished is when the company kidnapped him and confined him to that room. And they made Rebecca(Amanda) sign a contract which somehow allowed for that demon to attach itself to her. But the demon seems to listen to her so I wonder what its deal is.
So we know Kate was the librarian who promoted the show a lot in the first game. She became close to Joanne, whose lil brother was one of the children who disappeared. I think Joanne is the masked woman that’s with us. Kate, Caroline, Peter, and David noticed the demonic names and messaging and got together to investigate more. That happened over a period of like 15 years. Something happened to David and Kate knew she was gonna die too. I don’t think they say if Caroline or Peter died. I wonder if one of them hiding in that hatch. I don’t think the company got a facility under the library cuz it was Kate’s office that led there.
Belial, Mara, and Iblis are just different names for the devil - or its analogues in different cultures: Belial is Hebrew and later Christian, Mara is Hindu but was really developed in Buddhism, and Iblis is just the Devil in Islam. They mentioned over 40 mentions of these types of names and sigils. I’m assuming they’re partly basing this off of the medieval grimoire tradition and early 20th century demonology. Particularly Aleister’s Crowley Lesser Key which lists 72 demons and their sigils attributed to the King Solomon from the Bible. I’m really curious to see how they’re gonna tie all of that together. (This is the cliff notes version of all this).
We have at least one alleged demonic contract in the archaeological record. It was used in the trial of Urbain Grandier in the 1500s. It’s considered to have been fake and created as evidence to get him killed. I don’t remember the exact case but I think it was like a bunch of horny nuns blamed him for their horniness or something.

Hi! Found your blog semi recently and got obsessed with your res au, and have a few questions!
You’ve talked a little about how Infinite changes in appearance after getting comfortable with the family and you’ve shown how Bang and Vacio look as teens/young adults (? It’s been a second since I looked lol), so I was wondering if there are any changes you’d thought of for the rest of the family. Like, Mephiles and Iblis are mortal now right? Do they age? Will they and Infinite start going grey? And how will Meta change? She’s still exploring her identity at the start of I remember right, so how will she look with over a decade to get to know herself?
Also, I think you might have talked about it a little bit before (?), but how do Infinite and Mephiles go from that initial mutual dislike to having a close relationship? When do they start talking about it? Was there a distinct moment when they started being closer to partners than just kinda cohabiting?
Oh! Also also how does Mephiles patch things up with Scourge? If I remember right, they didn’t exactly have the best start with the whole parasitizing on his chaos energy thing. He does end up like a father figure, right? He has that with Meta, but I’m not sure you’ve mentioned if he has that with Scourge
Obviously, no pressure XD I just kinda adore this au and had to get the thoughts out
omg it makes me so happy that ur so interested in learning more abt it 😭😭😭 i'll try to answer as best i can (under a cut bc it got real long)
mephiles and iblis are mortal but not..really?? i guess?? they CAN be killed now but they dont necessarily age, have the same powers they had as deities, and have enhanced functions on top of it all (like fast healing and things of that nature). this is because their bodies arent technically "legitimate" mobian bodies, as they were made using synthetic mobian dna as well as the essence of their original forms, if that makes sense?? so they wont rly go gray at any point. unfortunately, infinite is genuinely mortal, and he does physically age still, so he will eventually start to gray (and honestly it probably wont be very long until then because this family has stressed him out so much even though he loves them LOL); flatline and julius are already dead so they dont rly physically age anymore; scourge, sonic, and shadow arent necessarily immortal, but their lifespans have been significantly increased due to the chaos energy theyve absorbed throughout their lives (and also shadow's whole...thing); meta is as mortal as infinite, though if im being real she will somehow find a way to prolong her own life using science or technology lol (she is genuinely afraid of her mortality and death at first, but she does come to terms with valuing her life after she processes that it is finite and precious. however im not sure she'd end up wanting it to end after all once she realizes that a good amount of her family will outlive her, yknow?), and on top of that i do think she would explore her outward appearance more over time; bang and vacío are in the same boat as mephiles and iblis because one is made up of pure chaos and the other is literally mephiles' son lol; black doom is also the same as mephiles and iblis; sunny is like meta except she 100% is ok with her life eventually coming to a natural end; zonic is in the same boat as infinite because he doesnt have experience with chaos energy like sonic or the others
mephiles and infinite didnt start really getting close (or even tolerating each other) until after mephiles got his mobian body! at first mephiles was very clearly and obviously showing bias towards meta and seemed to only rly be attached to her, but after becoming an unspoken member of the family, he did slowly start to form bonds with infinite and scourge as well, which was encouraged by how much he knew meta valued them. it wasnt until infinite really noticed mephiles' fondness for the rest of them that he sort of opened up his heart to him, though actual feelings didnt come up until someone mistook him and mephiles for a couple at a market lmfao. on mephiles' end, his feelings towards infinite didnt develop until he noticed infinite being kinder to him and treating him like he treated meta and scourge as members of his family, with the real tipping point being infinite setting up a small, simple shrine for solaris on one of the windows as a gesture of respect. mephiles then proceeded to ask meta and scourge questions regarding the feelings he was having as he had never experienced them in his previous form (scourge literally did not want to deal with that so he just told him to look shit up on the computer lol), and he was actually the one who ended up initiating the talk. they came to the conclusion that it wouldnt hurt to try things out (infinite makes the comment that it feels strange for him to try and navigate something like this at his age, to which mephiles responds that he's centuries old himself, so he supposed they would both be navigating it together) and they attempted to keep it on the dl but meta and scourge clocked that shit so fast LMAO
you remembered right! scourge and mephiles def had a strained relationship at first because of how mephiles used scourge's chaos energy as a means of tethering himself to the timeline. honestly scourge had a hard time coming to terms with mephiles being part of the family for a while after he got his own body, even after seeing how much meta seemed to love him. that only improved after mephiles caught him one night after he had a particularly bad nightmare (mephiles doesnt sleep A Lot so hes usually up anyway). he offered to let scourge vent about it to him to ease his nerves because he had learned that behavior from meta, and though scourge was hesitant and reluctant to open up like that at first, he did end up doing it, and after that he felt like he could trust mephiles better, which led to him eventually becoming fully comfortable with his presence :]
i want to write this shit out in a fic so baddddd bc i only have one (1) chapter fully written out and posted, but its so very hard for me to do anything past that lol (especially bc im nervous about the second chapter due to how. heavy. it is). but maybe one day i'll get around to it after all, we'll see
no matter what tho ur always free to ask abt stuff ur curious about ^^ odds are i Have thought about these things but just havent gotten around to posting about them yet lol

Shadow Generations
Tumblr media
If the Fallen Angel motifs weren't obvious enough with Shadow's wings. This is the nail in the coffin. A biblical accurate Black Doom form of some kind. That thing looming over you in the White Space is going to be so creepy. Always watching you no matter where you go.
Tumblr media
Looks like Black Doom still wants Shadow to be a part of his army. That honestly does makes sense. Black Doom was promised the Ultimate Lifeform to be the vanguard of his race, and he'll get what's his. I do think Black Doom unlocking Shadow's new Doom powers will allow him to create a deeper connection with the hedgehog. Making it easier for him to mind control Shadow.
Holy shit! This looks so very painful for Shadow. Am I the only one getting Symbiote vibes from this? Given the many comparisons that have been made between Shadow and Venom.
Tumblr media
Damn! Black Doom look good in the updated graphics! In the upper right-hand corner, you can see the biblical accurate form. A while back a person by the name of cr1ms0nesp3ra-ac3 made a comment saying that Black Doom could be trying to possess Shadow's body.
I replied that in the previous trailers, we saw Doom's Eye, but I later stated that this does not definitively prove Black Doom has returned physically. His mind could still be trapped within the Eye. Alternatively, the new moon form in the White Space could be the new vessel for his consciousness, rather than the Eye. We'll have to wait and see. For all we know he could actually be back with his body. The new information provided in this latest trailer has led me to no longer believe in the possibility of body possession.
Tumblr media
Seeing the volcano erupt in the background of the Chaos Island stage is a cool detail. To anyone who played Sonic Frontiers would know that the volcano only erupts after Sonic beats the pinball machine. After seeing this part of the trailer, I like to think Future-Sonic is on Chaos Island right now playing the pinball machine while Shadow is traversing the island.
Definitely won't happen but it would be awesome to see Super Sonic vs The Knight fight from the distance. It was said the Shadow's story would have crossover moments. Not sure what that means.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two images go hard. In the background is the Doom Moon and it looks different here than it does in the White World. The sight of Shadow flying toward that thing is giving off a redeemed Lucifer vibe. You know? It's a good thing Eggman doesn't know about this. Eggman has a track record of pissing on moons.
Tumblr media
Mother fucking Mephiles!!!!? I was completely blown away by this reveal! Mephiles has been pretty much a no zone for future stories after 06. Mainly because Sonic 06's story was erased from the timeline meaning him along with Iblis don't exist anymore. However, we know the real reason why Mephiles never made a return till now. His debut game in the franchise was and still is the worst one that nearly killed it. So, we can't blame for SEGA never wanting to acknowledge him again. I do hope he's done justice in Shadow's story. I am curious if Shadow will remember him. It will end the debate if Sonic is the only one who remembers the events of 06.
Tumblr media
Such a cool scene! Shadow being a badass is always a treat to watch. Though his red eyes are concerning. Does that mean he's closer to falling into Black Doom's control the more Doom Powers he gets and taps into?
Tumblr media
Maria Robotnik in the White Space. I would not have believed you if you told me during the early years of Youtube that Maria would come back in a game. But here she is, pulled into the White Space where Shadow is. I hope the reunion between the two is well written, acted, and animated.
