* GENERAL OBSERVATIONS, PART THREE.
ASTEROIDS & CELESTIAL BODIES
ASTEROID ORPHEUS (3361) CONJUNCT CHIRON may represent one who looks to their past for creative inspiration. They’ll often use their preferred form of art in an attempt to understand traumatizing events or process any emotions that may still linger.
ASTEROID APOLLO (1862) in the 8H could signify an individual who enjoys creating or consuming media about controversial and dark topics.
When I see ASTEROID PANDORA (55) in the 10H, I immediately wonder whether the individual with this placement has experienced some sort of chaos or crises regarding their public image. Maybe they’ve had traumatic experiences with their main circle of friends, or maybe they’ve even received some level of backlash on social media for a flawed interaction. Whatever these natives have endured, they probably yearn to control public perception of their character in an attempt to prevent misunderstandings.
Check which house ASTEROID ARISTOTELES (6123) is located in within your natal chart to find where you crave the most knowledge and wisdom! As an example, I have my Aristoteles asteroid in the 8H of transformative experiences, death, and “taboo” topics — and I’m now a practicing divination witch who enjoys paranormal investigation.
Due to difficulty with turning intuitive ideas into real achievements, 9H CHIRON individuals might find the process of outlining an essay or project to be particularly challenging. They’re the types of students who change their thesis a bunch of times before a paper’s due date.
PLANETS IN SIGNS & HOUSES
SATURN 1H placements might have people pleasing tendencies at some point in their lives due to a fear of never meeting others’ expectations.
SAGITTARIUS SATURNS likely grew up in households where one or both parents was strict and / or religious. The challenge awaiting these folks in life is to pursue exploration of knowledge outside of what was taught to them in their youth. They probably enjoy philosophy or history, and could possibly grow up to be spiritual but not religious.
LEO MERCURY placements, was your writing style ever described as “flowery” by your teachers or fellow students before? Because this placement TOTALLY gives me the vibes of a flowery and dramatic writing style.
One could theoretically use their JUPITER placement to discover two things: 1) The field of study where they have experienced the most growth throughout their academic career and / or 2) their best academic subject. To do this, look at Jupiter’s degrees and house. I have CANCER JUPITER placed in the 9TH HOUSE in my chart, and I absolutely adore law, history, and philosophy! However, I’ve had to undergo the most growth in Cancerian concepts such as life skills in the home and actively listening to others.
CAPRICORN JUPITERS are prone to having a “the end justifies the means” philosophy when it comes to achieving their goals. They also might struggle with perspective taking / putting themselves in others’ shoes, particularly when they perceive the individual in question as someone outside of what they consider “normal”.
6H MOONS strike me as the type who love being around animals MUCH more than they love being around people, especially if the majority of their personal planets are in a water sign.
ASPECTS
SUN SQUARE URANUS indicates memorable students whose teachers / professors will remember them for many years to come.
Hard MERCURY-PLUTO aspects could struggle with maintaining a consistent routine for studying, especially if Mercury is in retrograde in the chart.
MERCURY TRINE JUPITER placements LOVE yapping in class, but it’ll either be with their peers while the teacher is talking or by frequent class participation. If you’re the class participation type, you’ve probably had a teacher say “does anyone OTHER than (your name) know the answer?” before 😭
Although this placement does make for great activists who are not afraid to call out injustice when they see it, LILITH CONJUNCT MERCURY folks NEED to prioritize being tactful due to a natural tendency to bluntly say whatever’s on their mind with no filter.
SATURN-NEPTUNE aspects need to practice intense discernment when it comes to politics — fact check everything and don’t just believe everything you see / hear on the internet or news without taking the time to research it for yourself!
Hard ASCENDANT-SUN aspects tend to be noticeably different people in public versus private spaces. Your first impression of them will likely be VERY different from the truth of the person that they are behind closed doors.
MIDHEAVEN OPPOSITE VENUS placements are amazingly creative individuals whose art may play a major role in their own identity, but they simultaneously might have a major fear of sharing that art with others. Peer review in class is an absolute NIGHTMARE for them.

Now that I'm thinking about it I wanna theorize/call for action outside of buddie (don't worry i WILL return with a vengeance) but now I'm on a bit of an Eddie Diaz kind of run.
I'm reading a fanfic now of Eddie's sisters which kind of spawned me to think about his relationship with them and kind of think about his family dynamics and expectations and what's coming up for his storyline.
Now they mentioned bringing his family in, specifically his sisters, and i think this storyline ties into Marisol (noname i swear this drives me crazy when i think about it?!??! PLEASE if you want me to care/be invested gimme a last name!) and his Catholic guilt/sense of responsibility/man of the house complex.
They've introduced how his upbringing brought him a lot of guilt and a sense of duty (to serve and protect amirite? Dang religion can be a perfect line to how modern society works but lemme save that for a thesis or something this is about 911 on abc🤣)
Back on topic though, there's a really nice post talking about how he's military family and how that affected his and Shannon's relationship. (x)
Reading that helped me to appreciate the writing and details.
I also want to talk about the beautiful work being done on Twitter and Tumblr about the Miami Vice costume theory and coincidences.
(heh throwback Tuesday and takeover thursday came in clutch with finding these x )
Yes i do ship buddie, but if I look at it not just as a romantic things but as they are written as kind of parallel soulmates who run along the same line of development.
One always spurs the next to grow and change and are heavily involved in some way even if that way it's just being themselves.
Buck being open with his sexuality will trigger something in Eddie. What it is can vary.
I think if we look at it with non shipper glasses, Buck's freedom will lead to Eddie's freedom. What I mean by that is since Eddie had came to the 118 Ryan mentioned how each year he was there the more he learned about himself and other people.
I think what Eddie would be at free from the image/expectations of what a family should look like/be.
He knows what a family could look like in a queer/unconventional way. Bathena's unit, Chimney and Maddie's family (let's say cause they're not currently married with a toddler church would pass out), and HenRen's family.
The could be and should be is the important part.
Eddie grew up being told what he should be and what his life should look like. Evidently his life went none of the ways it was intended to go.
He's a widower single father from a teen/young pregnancy and veteran. Sure he's a firefighter now but he has no "complete" family.
The way they're emphasizing the mother aspect throughout his story is still fascinating.
(i also thought of something hilarious as like he probably imagined/process mothers as like the Virgin Mary or something when they brought up how he can see woman as mothers but not really women at the same time)
(also Madonna whore complex was mentioned and it's also a fascinating way to look at it as he can either desire or love.)
Shannon seems to be the only exception and even that is iffy. I would also say that when she became a mother the desire kind of left? I think the mother aspect solidified for him when she left them I would say.
Yes they did have sex but that was a (very bad, horrid) form of communication between them. They both avoided stuff at some point in some (eh it's like 20/80 her and Eddie) cases.
Every other woman he has dated has kind of been a substitute, for a lack of a better word, replacement for the role of mom.
Now he knows what moms should look like in all shapes and forms. He knows what dads should look like. He's knows what his family should look like.
Granted he did get rid of some of the flaws of his father and the way he was raised which also ties into the way he is.
Eddie was parentified at an early age. (I will say as a black/poc person that there tends to be adult responsibilities placed on our communities kids from young partially because of culture but mostly because of the inherent unevenness that we have to struggle to make balance worldwide in different facets and environments.)
Once again, this is about 911 on abc, not my thesis😭.
I just imagine him standing on a stool to cook food for his sisters or some other things like laundry. Or even worse the cannon car accident with his pregnant mom. (I love to make myself cry)
Eddie had technically been a parent since he was a kid. He literally became the man of the house or the father. So i guess that entailed taking on the emotional and sometimes physical burden of the father role.
I guess when he was actually a father and not just the role he felt the weight of responsibility again and panicked. It makes sense he has a habit of running since he never had the opportunity to do so as a kid (since he never got the chance to be one).
So after Chris it was once again role of the father but now with added responsibility of bringing money to provide the household which he didn't have to do in that role.
It was hard then so it became even more difficult.
So he gave his body to the military and returned wounded in mind and body, and with a disabled son who needed insurance and stability and a wife who just needed him.
And he needed to be a man. Again and again and again.
He broke out of the loop when he got to the 118 (bless the haven that is that building) met Buck, then Carla and Bobby who offered a safe place for his kid.
He was no longer alone and had distanced himself physical from the church but mentally still shackled in his beliefs.
After this Buck and Tommy things and he's not present we're going to focus on how a family could look for him.
Last season and recently they mentioned the fact that his aunt had been divorced and he didn't know.
There was also mention of family secrets.
There was also Marisol and Chris together which I'm guessing he wasn't to happy with her but it's either or since we haven't seen them together so it's a 50/50 chance. More like 90/10 he's annoyed or feels weird about his mom being replaced). Since we touched on him repairing his relationship with his mom and subsequently girls and women/relationships he wants to be in now that may shift his image of Marisol suddenly being more present.
Slight Buddie tangent (i gotta let the beat out for a sec raaa-) but the fact that he's still hanging out with Buck pretty consistently (well we can say he's his other parent who's sadly been in his life almost longer than his mom 🥺 lemme stop I'm crying) but it might decrease due to his and Tommy's relationship. (They're two firefighters with very busy schedules ofc he's not present they got work to do chop chop!/j)
In turn this leaves Chris with one less stable parent figure and it's forced to turn to Marisol who may be overeager to please him.
This can lead Chris to probably feeling uncomfortable with the changes because he's happy his dad's happy but he's not happy because it feels like his family's changing again too fast, and what if she leaves then his dad's not happy and a whole other sleet of teenage issues and angst.
So what I predict their storyline to be going it's that Eddie tries to find his own freedom from the church and maybe even the expectations of his home community would have on him.
Buck will be radiant in himself at the wedding, so will Hen and Karen, and Marie and Chimney, and Bobby and Athena.
He'll look around and look inward.
He'll stop focusing on what his life should look like and focus on what it could.
And that life could be just as radiant as the family he's apart of now.
(and that's all i could ask for 🥹)

Week 1 - Sept 13
Topics - What are the effects of gamification on cognitive load and emotion, Illusion/Perception-Bending
Because I am basing my capstone on my thesis research question, I have a lot of different sources and an entire literature review (rough) to look through. However, I wanted to avoid limiting myself to simply that research question and started exploring the major topics within the questions and cast a wider net for more creative inspiration.
I began looking through this article about cognitive and emotional research in relationship to gamification and serious gaming. I was drawn to the topic of "inattentional blindness" (the tendency to miss a second stimulus after detecting an initial visual stimulus) which tied into my second topic of illusions or any sort of perceptual manipulation that may trick the brain's processing of images/information.
"Additionally, emotion may prevent “inattentional blindness,” i.e., the tendency to miss a second stimulus after detecting an initial visual stimulus"
"Immersive first-person shooter games enable faster and more accurate attention allocation. Focused attention is key to achieving cognitive absorption or “flow” " --> ties into flow theory (providing positive incentives at varying intervals aligns with human nature, which is driven by internal motivations stimulated by external rewards).
After reading about inattentional blindness, I wanted to research illusion science and history more. This article included some history of the origin of illusions, the use of depth, movement, and color in optical illusion art, and important types and figures of illusion art.
"According to BigThink, there are three main types of optical illusions: literal, physiological, and cognitive. "
"Literal illusions can be seen in two different ways, such as the duck and rabbit image. Physiological illusions use sensory overload to trick our brains into seeing movement and depth that aren’t actually there. Cognitive illusions trick both our eyes and brain with impossible shapes and logic, such as Oscar Reutersvärd’s “Penrose Triangle.”"
I hope to look into more game designs because I was able to research Superliminal a bit this week and found that was a really interesting design to confuse players using perception and "tricking brains."
I also feel like next week I will be looking more into software for game design and playing around with that for a while.

du you have any opinions on walter benjamin, or in particular his theses on the philosophy of history?
I like the Theses on History immensely, they inform not just my philosophy of History but pretty much my ideology, and understanding of reality :) It’s a text I like to revisit from time to time.
The theses were very popular in my college’s history department when I attended, so we visited it in pretty much every theoretical class. ‘brush against the grain’ was a motto both historical materialists and cultural materialists (and… postmodernists) could agree on… I internalized this on such a fundamental level that you see me doing this in fandom too 😭
I’m very touched specifically by that thesis 7, although the reflection on civilization is what gets me most of the time. I don’t know that I have anything interesting to say about it; I think the vehemence of this specific point in the text can be a powerful tool in the twin processes of decatechization and radicalization against imperialism/historicism/enlightenment. These are topics I normally abstain from speaking about here because I think they’re both rather delicate and radical, but we can talk more in depth about it, if that’s what you were looking for.
What ARE you looking for btw? This was such a strangely pleasant ask to get, I’m really so into the Theses but I don’t think I ever mentioned the depths of my appreciation before! I wonder what made you ask. Have you read the Theses, are you planning to? It’s a short text and people who are specialists on WB’s works are still discussing it; it reads a bit like a work of art, in that it aims to make a huge impression through vivid images, so I think they’re very accessible, but also very stimulating, they invite you to chew on what’s there. I think it’s a potential great read for anyone. I have read a couple other things by him, but (except for Artwork in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction? Maybe?) I think they’re way less accessible for a non-academic reader.

6 - any relationship advice?
Ough, uh, based on my own experiences I'm gonna go with that there is no set way/pace of doing things. Similarly there's the thing that every person loves differently, and reading into that is a totally human thing, but sometimes it is better to just vibe it out.
Or I had trouble with when things got uncertain and then I got stressed out about trying to save a sinking ship and only sinking it further in the process. Working on that! You're not gonna know everything about each other, and that's totally cool beans.
8 - any fandom/niche/hyperfixation topics you can rant about for hours?
If we're taking ranting in the negative way, I can totally go on about misinterpretations of fairly popular greek myths and the effects that has on the general image of mythology. It's always more nuanced than most popular interpretations seem to suggest. (l*re *lympus my beloathed)
But on a positive note! I love it when works break the mold. I love it when things are aware of the limitations of their medium and twist them into tremendous advantages. I got a whole thesis on why Carrie (Stephen King) works so well in book form because telepathy!! and when you are reading the words you are thinking them!! so it's close to the thing it wants to depict!! Also the intertextuality of that one is so nice. UGH. It is one of my favorite books for a reason.
18 - favorite biome/landscape?
Already answered!

Academic Writing Made Simple: 7 Styles Every Student Should Know
Academic writing is not so much about grand language and dense jargon—it's about putting ideas forth clearly, assertively, and in an orderly fashion. Whatever you're writing—an anecdote, an explication, an argument—you can use knowledge of various types of academic writing to write with effect and flair. Here's a quick rundown on the seven most frequent types of academic writing, illustrated with examples that breathe life into each style.
What Is Academic Writing?
Academic writing is a formal mode of expression employed in universities, research institutes, and academic journals. It is concerned with being concise, clear, objective, and well-organized. Whether an essay, thesis, report, or journal article, academic writing seeks to express ideas logically and provide credible evidence to substantiate them. It is frequently referred by peers and edited for precision and reliability and is thus a fundamental aspect of knowledge transfer in the academic environment.
1. Narrative Writing
Narrative writing narrates a story, typically from the author's personal point of view. Narrative writing uses personal experience to describe ideas or comment on events. This form of writing occurs frequently in personal essays, reflective journals, and autobiographies.
Example: Overcoming a Fear of Heights
I've always been afraid of heights. But in a visit to the Grand Canyon, I battled that fear directly. Descending the treacherous trails, my heart racing with each step. But as the vistas revealed themselves and my nerve returned, something shifted. Arriving at the bottom wasn't merely an accomplishment of the legs—it was a turning point for my life. I overcame more than a canyon that day.
2. Descriptive Writing
Descriptive writing makes the scenes, experiences, or individuals come alive. It employs rich language and sensory information to create a vivid image, allowing readers to envision what is being described.
Example:
Imagine a peaceful beach: the sound of waves crashing in, the smell of salt in the air, sun-warmed sand between your toes, and seagulls crying overhead. Descriptive writing places readers in the moment by drawing on these little but potent details.
3. Expository Writing
Expository writing describes an idea, process, or concept in a clear, factual style. It's frequently found in textbooks, articles, and instruction manuals.
Example:
Describing climate change could mean describing what it is, the causes (such as the release of greenhouse gases), and the consequences (increasing sea levels, heavy weather). The emphasis is on clarity and fact—not opinions.
4. Argumentative Writing
This style presents a claim and supports it with logic, evidence, and reasoning. It’s commonly used in academic essays and research papers to persuade readers.
Example:
An essay might argue that schools should ban junk food. It would include data on childhood obesity, health risks, and how nutrition affects learning—all aimed at convincing the reader that healthier school environments matter.
5. Compare and Contrast Writing
Compare and contrast writing investigates similarities and differences between two or more topics and aids readers in grasping them better.
Online vs. Classroom Learning
Both consist of structured lessons, assignments, and tests. Both, though, have differing levels of flexibility and face-to-face contact. Both demand motivation, but each suits different lifestyles and learning styles.
6. Cause and Effect Writing
This style describes how one event follows another. It indicates connections between occurrences or circumstances and their results.
Example: Climate Change Effects
Human actions, such as fossil fuel combustion, result in climate change. This, in turn, causes increased sea levels, harsher weather patterns, and changes in agriculture. The writing delves into not just what is occurring but why and why it's important.
7. Persuasive Writing
Persuasive writing attempts to persuade readers to accept a specific opinion or take a certain course of action.
Example: Why Exercise Matters
Exercise enhances physical well-being, enhances mental acuity, and promotes emotional health. It's not only healthy for the body—it reduces stress, increases confidence, and helps people interact with others. A persuasive article would employ these advantages to motivate frequent physical movement.
Final Thought
Knowing the various modes of academic writing enables you to select the proper format for your message. Whether you are telling a story, describing a subject, or constructing a solid argument, each form has its own uses. By getting to know these forms, you'll not only be a better writer but also a better thinker. Brainstorming is crucial in writing as it helps writers generate a wide range of ideas, explore different perspectives, and develop a strong structure for their writing. It allows for free-flowing thinking, encourages originality, and can help overcome writer's block. Essentially, brainstorming lays a solid foundation for effective writing by providing a space to explore ideas without immediate judgment.
Here's a more detailed look at why brainstorming is important:
1. Generating Ideas and Overcoming Writer's Block:
Brainstorming helps overcome writer's block by providing a platform to generate ideas without initial constraints.
It allows writers to explore various angles and topics without the pressure of immediate evaluation.
By encouraging free-flowing thought, brainstorming can lead to unique and innovative concepts.
2. Structuring and Organizing Thoughts:
Brainstorming helps writers visualize the overall structure of their writing, facilitating organization.
Techniques like mind mapping or creating outlines help organize ideas and establish a logical flow.
This structure provides a roadmap for developing a clear and coherent piece of writing.
3. Promoting Critical Thinking and Originality:
Brainstorming encourages critical thinking by prompting writers to explore different perspectives and challenge assumptions.
It provides an opportunity to think outside the box and develop original ideas.
This can lead to more engaging and thought-provoking writing.
4. Enhancing the Writing Process:
Brainstorming helps writers understand the topic better and identify areas where more research or clarification may be needed.
It fosters a more dynamic and engaging writing process, rather than a rote exercise.
By actively engaging with the topic, writers can create more compelling and meaningful writing.

When creating an essay, each individual has their own process. I first start by going over the assignment and looking at all the components needed. Then I brainstorm my topic and write down a few main ideas I want to cover. Next I typically do some online research to find helpful resources.
I then begin writing the essay, beginning with an intro and thesis. Then moving on to the body paragraphs in a logical order, and finishing with a conclusion to wrap up the ideas. After completing that, for a multi-modal essay, I create any graphics that would aid the prompts or find any useful images online. Finally, I check for errors and complete my works cited page. On occasion I may also check in with a peer and have them review it. These are the steps I personally tend to follow when writing a paper.

M 2.3.25, Core Writing
M 2.3.25 Lesson Plan, Sorrell CWSP25: O1 Comments + Workshop #1: Outlines and Papers ✪ My comments usually involve developing your thesis (overall idea) in the context of TS-E and IS-E. They are designed to make you read, think, and write more. ✪ Your thesis (Big Idea) is the main point. Use that to direct the body paragraphs (Little Ideas). Make sure each body paragraph helps you support that claim differently as you write and revise. ✪ Many first-year writing struggles result from not grasping how tightly connected all the parts of a professional piece need to be. This structure comes from rereading and revising your work. ✪ “Really revising it” = reflecting on what you are trying to do and how to do it better in key areas: ✪ Originality of thesis/main idea/Big Idea ✪ Evidence given to back up said thesis (TS-E and IS-E) ✪ Organization of the Big Idea of the thesis and the Little Ideas of the body paragraphs. ✪ By the way, none of this setup is meant to be restrictive, like it is the only way! It is merely an organizational shell that helps people read and understand your words as efficiently as possible. ✪ The same kind of strategy works in digital media, so if writing isn’t your thing, consider this valuable workplace communication skills practice (to help you get your point across as effectively as possible). ✪ If you successfully use a different writing process, keep doing what works for you until it doesn’t! ✪ As you develop your thesis for Paper #1, think about TSIS, Ch. 4 Notes (“Three Ways to Respond”), which you read for today. Do you agree, disagree, or some combination of the two? I also think that the following approaches are helpful: ✪ What did the author get right? ✪ What did the author miss? ✪ Would you like to “change the conversation?” ← I always find this last “move” to be the most useful (for me): “Although Graff is likely right about students’ interests and academic motivation, he is talking about the wrong thing, as the real issue for students these days is the opposite: not having enough social skills to succeed in the workplace, as a result of technology and the pandemic.” Example Thesis: There has been a lot of talk about student stress since Covid, but little progress. Example BP (body paragraph) 1 ✪ Topic Sentence (Little idea): NOT what Burwell says but rather something relating to your thesis (Big Idea) that can be connected to what Burwell is saying, something like, “The question of who is responsible for what in college has a lot to do with student stress.” ✪ Discussion of a Burwell quote that connects back to your idea for this paragraph (Topic Sentence): “But no matter what, universities need to deal with this uptick in psychological distress. No longer can they consider students’ mental health to be outside their area of responsibility” (Burwell 579). ✪ Discussion of Googled stats about mental health and the pandemic. This simple research led to many relevant results, such as pandemic and high school student mental health statistics (link). ✪ Discussion of my own student pandemic experience and its effect on me. ✪ Concluding Sentence: This brings you back to the Little Idea announced in the Topic Sentence but in more detail because the specific evidence has been discussed in the previous BP.

Strategy for Writing Non-Fiction
Writing non-fiction can be both rewarding and challenging. It requires clarity, accuracy, and a compelling narrative. Here’s a comprehensive strategy to guide you through the process, from conception to publication.
1. Identify Your Purpose and Audience
**Purpose:**
Understand why you are writing. Are you informing, persuading, or entertaining? This clarity will shape your approach.
**Audience:**
Identify your target readers. Consider their interests, knowledge level, and what they hope to gain from your work. Tailoring your content to your audience is crucial for engagement.
2. Choose a Compelling Topic
Select a topic that resonates with both your interests and your audience's needs. A good topic should be relevant, specific, and have enough depth for exploration. Conduct preliminary research to ensure there’s sufficient material and that it hasn’t been overly saturated.
3. Conduct Thorough Research
**Sources:**
Use a variety of credible sources, including books, academic journals, articles, and interviews. Diversifying your sources enhances the credibility of your writing.
**Note-Taking:**
Organize your notes efficiently. Use digital tools or traditional methods to categorize information. Focus on key points, statistics, and quotes that support your narrative.
4. Create an Outline
An outline serves as the backbone of your non-fiction piece. It helps structure your thoughts and ensures a logical flow of information. Here’s a suggested format:
- **Introduction:**
- Hook the reader
- Present the thesis statement
- **Body:**
- Main ideas (each in its own section)
- Supporting evidence
- Examples and anecdotes
- **Conclusion:**
- Summarize key points
- Offer insights or call to action
5. Develop a Strong Narrative
Even non-fiction can benefit from storytelling techniques. Use anecdotes, case studies, or personal experiences to illustrate your points. This approach not only engages readers but also makes complex information more relatable.
6. Write with Clarity and Precision
**Language:**
Use clear, concise language. Avoid jargon unless necessary, and always explain technical terms.
**Tone:**
Match your tone to your audience and purpose. For example, academic writing may require a formal tone, while a popular audience might appreciate a more conversational style.
7. Incorporate Visual Elements
Where appropriate, include charts, graphs, images, or infographics to enhance understanding. Visual aids can break up text and make complex data more digestible.
8. Revise and Edit
The first draft is rarely perfect. Set it aside for a while before revising. Look for:
- **Structure:** Ensure each section flows logically.
- **Clarity:** Remove unnecessary words and clarify vague statements.
- **Grammar and Style:** Check for grammatical errors and ensure consistency in style.
Consider seeking feedback from peers or writing groups. Fresh eyes can catch issues you may overlook.
9. Cite Sources Properly
Always give credit to your sources to avoid plagiarism. Familiarize yourself with the appropriate citation style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) for your field. Proper citations enhance your credibility and allow readers to explore your sources.
10. Prepare for Publication
**Formatting:**
Adhere to the formatting guidelines of your intended publication, whether it’s a blog, magazine, or book. Pay attention to font size, margins, and headings.
**Cover Letter/Proposal:**
If submitting to a publisher, prepare a professional cover letter or proposal outlining your book's premise, target audience, and your qualifications.
11. Marketing and Promotion
Once published, actively promote your work. Utilize social media, author websites, book signings, and speaking engagements to reach your audience. Building an author platform can also help attract readers for future projects.
12. Continuously Improve
Reflect on the writing process after completing your project. What worked well? What could be improved? Engage with your readers for feedback and stay updated on trends in non-fiction writing.
In short, Writing non-fiction requires a blend of research, creativity, and strategy. By following these steps, you can create a compelling narrative that informs and engages your audience. Remember, the journey of writing is ongoing—each project is an opportunity to learn and grow as a writer.
