"the world you were born into no longer exists" except it's just digging through old internet archive links of DA & SFF to see if you can find old deleted content you used to beat off to lmao

i will post 100000000 updates on this every day. look at my site boy
97% of the formatting is either broke or not in place yet but the layouts are there, everything that exists is navigable, and i've made decent headway getting all the header images down+starting the galleries.

the website is called imageshack.  You put the pics there, then get the link, then post them on ao3.  Von showed me how.

often i go back to my old forum i am now the only active admin of (upgraded from user to admin a few years ago because the poor thing was abandoned) and i try to make the graphics come back together as the good old days the problem is. imageshack!! and tinypic!! cause they both dead as fuck and when i try to get the old links from the wayback machine 9 times out of 10 they're dead. and even going back to the old versions of the forum, sometimes the links are broken (showing the tinypic "this pic is not available") or they're entirely missing. soooo frustrating! and imageshack doesn't even recover the old pics that were uploaded anonymously. god imagehosting was so chaotic. i have to look back ad old screenshots i did when i was young in god knows what hardisk and try to find the objects that are missing but it's tribky because who would've thought that a webpage wasn't gonna stay forever the same :/// i managed to fix the most but it's still a bit wonky...

Keven M. Loch, the founder of free LEGO image & file hosting site Brickshelf passed away on June 19, 2024, aged 52.
And now the entire site will be shut down at the beginning of March unless a buyer can be found.
Besides; it's old, antiquated, dated and more importantly, poses a security risk, especially to minors.
This marks the end of an era when we had the freedom to host pictures & files without having to burn a single dollar bill or two.
Now our freedom has been taken away from us with Flickr, Imageshack and Photobucket now changing their policies and urging us to pay for membership or risk losing our photos forever.
All of those three mentioned sites are meant for Hosting, not Long-Term Storage.
There are so many alternative choices like ReBrickable, BrickSafe and even Facebook.
Brickshelf will hold a special place in internet history and a place in our hearts.😭
Thank you so much Keven Loch for making Brickshelf the most amazing part of our childhoods!
Please save your images & files now ASAP before it's too late!

Looking back at image hosting over the decades, it's maddening how it was impossible to guess which image hosting services would last - images uploaded to Photobucket still exist, even if you can no longer access your account without paying, and but everything on ImageShack, which we moved onto next when Photobucket seemed like it would go down, is gone, and Imgur is really weird now too; even if you hosted your images on your own site, if your server ever went down, those images would be gone too, even if you have more control over things - but yeah, crazy how digital files are both extremely precarious or can stand the test of time depending on the circumstances.

someone on one of my discords posted a link to the MSPA Forum Adventures wiki and flipping through it has been a concentrated nostalgia bomb sending me back to like 2010. i'd thought the collapses of imageshack and the MSPA forums themselves had left all these adventures pretty much lost to history, so it definitely makes me happy to know theyve got at least somewhat of an echo that's survived to this day
