Gaza hospital chief, Abu Safia has been detained, and is being tortured in Israeli jail: Lawyer

The 51-year-old Hussam Abu Safia was detained by the Israeli army from Gaza in December.

The director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital has been subjected to various forms of intense torture and inhumane treatment in an Israeli military prison, his lawyer told Al Jazeera.

The 51-year-old Hussam Abu Safia was detained in Gaza by the Israeli army  in December and taken to Sde Teiman military detention camp in Israel’s Negev Desert, before being transferred to Ofer Prison, located near Ramallah.

He was “arrested by force, handcuffed and forced to take off his clothes after being taken from the hospital to one of the army camps”, said Samir al-Mana’ama, a lawyer with the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights who visited him in Ofer Prison on Tuesday.

Al-Mana’ama said that Abu Safia suffers from “an enlarged heart muscle and from high blood pressure” and was beaten up and refused treatment for the heart condition.

Transferred to Ofter Prison on 9 January, he was held in solitary confinement for 25 days and interrogated nonstop by the Israeli army, Israeli intelligence and police, the lawyer added.

“Despite denying all the charges against him, he was beaten with an electric stick by the Israeli army so as to extract a confession from him,” said the lawyer.

There was “no legal justification” for Abu Safia’s arrest, the lawyer said, adding that “any accusation needs evidence and as long as there is no evidence, there is no real complete accusation against Doctor Hussam.”

A lack of medical care combined with the appalling conditions in “very cold prison cells” had “severely affected” the doctor’s health, he said, adding that he was “facing a lot of sufferings in his confinement and detention”.

In a separate statement issued by the lawyer, he said that Abu Safia had been given no access to legal counsel during his 47 days in arbitrary detention.

Abu Safia, who had documented the cruel impact of Israel’s offensive on Kamal Adwan Hospital, was arrested after refusing multiple military threats to leave the hospital during a devastating blockade on the northern Gaza Strip.

The doctor was reportedly sighted back in December by two released prisoners at Sde Teiman, a controversial facility known for its extreme abuse of detainees.

Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Amman in Jordan, said the doctor was one of hundreds of medical workers taken from Gaza by Israeli forces to the notorious Sde Teiman detention camp and other Israeli military prisons.

“At least his family now knows where he is and that he is alive, unlike potentially thousands of others who the UN said have been forcibly disappeared from Gaza,” she said.

The Prisoners’ Affairs Committee and the Prisoner’s Society issued a report citing the lawyer of a Palestinian detainee who said he had been subjected to severe torture in Israeli detention.

According to the report, the prisoner had been beaten by Israeli soldiers while going from north to the south of Gaza, forced to take off his clothes and left for hours in the cold without food or water. Later, tied up and beaten, with both his hands suffering a fracture.

Blindfolded and handcuffed, he was eventually transferred to hospital “because my injuries were clearly visible and swollen”, only realising where he was after being discovered by a lawyer.

Is that some kind of trick? Did you mess something up? No, you couldn’t have. 

“Remarkably intelligent,” you retort, eyes not looking up from data. His newest algorithm on VoxFlix is rolling out perfectly, and your finishing touches on it are making new subscribers flooding in. 

“Would you consider yourself skilled?”

Definitely a game he’s playing; you can see he’s in the same data set as you. He’s seeing what you’re seeing. Your eyes flicker up above your VoxPad, but not to him.

“In all the ways that count, sir,” you sigh, feigning annoyance but interested in where he’s taking this. 

“Hardworking?”

“As hard as I can be without a chair of my own,” you quip, making a jab at his poor planning skills. Vox has you standing over his shoulder almost all day, following him to meetings, standing in the background of presentations. You’re glad you’re already dead or your feet would be killing you. Vox just laughs.

“You think you’re funny?” 

Oh, just from that tone you know you got him. This has just become a tennis match, back and forth.

“Incredibly witty,” you tilt your head towards him, and close out the document you were viewing, “and maybe a bit charming too.”

Vox leans over his desk, now entering your space. You can’t help but lean closer too, your body reacting to him. It’s not a secret your boss is one of Hell’s most handsome eligible bachelors, and you are not immune to the effects of that fact. His eyes are trained on you, sharp and bright; his full focus on you. 

“Pretty?” he asks, and strikes a nerve. 

“Enough to get by,” you deflect, “What’s with all the questions, sir? This an interview?”

You’re not sure if you should be this flippant with a dangerous man like Vox, but it rolls off the tongue naturally, as it has since your first meeting with him. 

“Yeah,” He smiles, “I’m making sure you aren’t gunning for my job.”

Your eyes flicker down to the sharp corner of his smile, the way it grows under your attention.

“I wouldn’t dream of it sir,” Your smile matches his, and he leans in further. 

Vox catches your lips on his screen, the slight tingle of static at the corners of his mouth. It’s nothing like you thought it would feel like, and yes, you’ve definitely thought about it. You let your mind wonder sometimes when you lean your him against his desk and you swear you see his screen glitch, or when you hand him his mug and your hands touch. Electricity in his touch as he pulls you closer, his hand moving to the back of your head to pull you in closer to him, the two of you bent over opposite sides of the desk to join. His kiss is gentle, but firm; he presses where lips should be against you, and yet his mouth opens, your lips slotting in perfectly. His tongue licks between the seam of your lips, you part them eagerly. 

Vox deepens the kiss, climbing up onto his desk, his free hand throwing his keyboard to the side to make room for his knees, his hand behind your head moving to your back to pull you up and closer to his chest. The hum of fans kicks in, and you smirk as best you can through the kiss. You recognize them as Vox’s fans, his internal cooling system to prevent shutdown. It’s a rush of blood beneath your skin, a pumping racing feeling of an ego boost knowing that simply kissing you made that happen. His other hand comes to your waist, his claws immediately bunching up the fabric of your shift dress to make it rise dangerously high. You let out a moan- fully accidentally. You hadn’t wanted to let Vox know how much you were enjoying it. He breathes against you, hot air pushed from the fan against your neck, and he pulls away fully, his lips and hands leaving you.

When you open your eyes you see him kneeled on his own desk, desperation causing him to move across it for you. Any other demon and you’d find a move like that pathetic, but with Vox it feels hot, powerful and sexy. In his hand is his VoxPad, his thumb swiping before he shoves it your way. 

“I’m not signing a deal with you,” you spit immediately. Always count on an Overlord to spoil a mood, you think. 

“It’s not a deal,” he urges you to read it, and you oblige him to skim it.

Vox’s screen flashes, and he looks almost sheepish. He looks embarrassed for even showing it to you. Poor baby.

“It’s not… not an NDA,” his screen stutters with static. Oh, he’s genuinely nervous. You’ve got him. You look him up and down, sizing up your boss perched on his desk, red streaks of shared spit smeared down his screen, his jacket rumpled; a powerful man disheveled. 

You drop the VoxPad to the side, your hands moving back to your boss. You let your fingers walk up Vox’s sleeve, slow and seductive. 

“You still gonna kiss me even if I don’t sign it?” you coo, you really don’t want to sign any paperwork that isn’t your normal work contract.

“Well,” Vox’s screen twitches, and he thinks about it, “I guess I could just… trust you.”

You quirk an eyebrow at him, fingers now dancing around his lapels, then yanking on his bowtie.

“When have I ever given you a reason not to?” you ask, and he just kisses you instead of answering; you’d never crossed or even contradicted him. 

Your tongues lick and lap at each other, static making your hair stand on end, his claws back in the fabric of your outfit. Vox pulls you onto the desk as well, pulling your body flush with his, letting you feel all of him. His hands go immediately to your ass, handfuls he digs into. He’s hard against you, and fuck, you want him. He’s bigger than you’d imagined, you can tell even through clothing. Heat burns through you, flushes to your core. Need floods you unlike the curious want of before. 

You break apart from the kiss with a sharp gasp, not breaking away from his embrace. 

“Fuck,” you pant, “I’ll blow you right here if you never bring up that NDA again.”

Immediately one of his hands leaves your ass to slap around for the VoxPad until finally he grasps it in his claws. 

“Consider it deleted, Doll.”

Manta rays

(Manta/Mobula birostris and Manta/Mobula Alfredi)

They usually live alone or in small groups but sometimes during feedings they'll all group together and have like a huge feast.Their swimming goes sort of in a circle, kinda like how dolphins feed in a way how theyre keeping food in one place. They swim all the way to the top while eating, then swim back down to the bottom and start eating again!!! They are usually seen lining up along the sea floor and feeding there!!

We also know that the rays frequently change places while feeding. Since the ray at the front gets the most food they often switch in line! Also when theyre feeding alone theyre known to do flips in the water to stay in the one spot where all the food is.

Giant Oceanic Manta Rays(mobula birostris)can grow up to 24ft. In wingspan.

Both Manta ray species are filter feeders, eating mainly krill and plankton.

Every ray has a distinct pattern on their underside which scientists use to keep track of a certain ray for research purposes. Originally they were scientifically called Manta rays (Manta Birostris and Manta Alfredi) but after recent-ish studys it was confirmed that they are way too close to mobula rays to be separated into a different species!! So Manta rays were put into that group. The reason we originally thought Manta rays was its own species was because of the placement of its mouth. Mantas mouths are located right at the front of their bodys, while mobulas are just underneath!! The little "horns"(cephalic fins) at the front of their heads are actually used like a spoon!! They use it to scoop plankton and other small crustaceans into their mouths.They also may use it for sensory purposes and for social interactions!!

We also think that manta rays have a symbiotic relationship with remoras(sucker fish) The remoras remove ectoparasites while the rays give them better access to food and shelter!!! Manta rays are also very smart. They have one of the largest brains for an animal that isnt human and we think they have intelligence much like dolphins and elephants do!!! and believe that they can even recognize themselves in a mirror!!

Great Hammerheads (Sphyrna Mokarran)

They are the largest hammerhead shark out of all 9 species, having an average length of 4m and weight of 230kg!! They can live up to 44 years old! Its most distinguishing feature is its almost completely straight hammer-shaped head, which is called a cephalofoil, that has a prominent indent in the middle.

They can be found worldwide in costal, warm waters that are 20°C or higher. They are solitary and migrate long distances.

Great hammerheads have a faster growth rate over the other species, so they reach maturity earlier, between 5-9 years old. They give birth to live pups, around 6-42 pups once every 2 years!

Great hammerheads have long, serrated teeth, and use their head to detect pray. Their heads have electrical receptors that can sense for pray around them, even if theyre hiding in places like the sand!!

These sharks usually bottomfeed, they eat things like stingrays, cephalopods(octopus/squids), crustaceans, and other sharks!! They have been seen using their heads to pin down their pray, usually stingrays, while eating their wings! Because of their size, they arent usually prayed on by other animals!

Goblin Sharks

(Mitsukurina Owstoni)

Believed to live alone, Goblin sharks live from the surface of the water all the down to depths that reach atleast 4265ft/1300m. They only come to the surface during the night and spend most of their lives in the dark. They sense the electrical field of other fish by special organs located in their snout(rostrum). They cant fit all of their teeth in their mouth.

They havent been nearly as documented like great whites and other sharks, but its believed theyre active predators and eat fish, squids, and some crustaceans.

They reproduce with internal fertilisation/live birth. They dont actually connect their babies to a placenta and the mom likely feeds them unfertilized eggs!! Young goblin sharks know how to live on their own as soon as theyre born.

Its believed that blue sharks maybe be one of the few predators goblin sharks might have, asside from humans.

Nurse sharks

(Ginglymostoma Cirratum)

The nurse shark is a bottom feeder, eating mostly fish, shrimp, and squid, but they eat shellfish and coral too! They range from a light tan to a dark brown colour. They have two dorsal fins which are located lower on their body compared to other sharks, their tail lacks a lower lobe. They have two extentions on their mouths that are rumored to assist in detecting prey! They are pretty much harmless to humans. They can grow up to 14 ft. And live to around 25 years in captivity!!

Nurse sharks are found in warm, shallow waters of the western atlantic and eastern Pacific oceans!

They have a few predators, mostly other sharks(tiger, lemon) and humans.

Nurse sharks dont have to constantly move to breathe like other sharks, this is because they have developed a pumping mechanism(buccal pump) that pulls a current of water over their gills to keep breathing!

Sea Bunny

(Jorunna Parva)

A nudibranch that resembles a bunny, its about 1 cm long on average. Their colour varies but its usually camouflaged to the sponges they eat. The rhinophores on its head resemble bunny ears but are actually used as scent and/or taste receptors!!

Its diet consists of different sponges. They often stay by places where there is a lot of food, clinging to vegetation. They spend most of their life at the botton of tropical waters throughout the Indo-pacific ocean to central pacific. They most likely live only a few months up to a year. Theyre very toxic animals, not having many predators if any at all, but they are harmless to humans.

The Sea Anemone

(Actiniaria)

They are carnivorous invertebrates that can grow from 0.5 inches up to 6ft!! They are close relatives to coral and jellyfish, they are stinging polyps that spend most of their time attached to rocks, but they can move around! They have a foot that they can use to slowly move around, or "swim" by twisting their body around! They only really move if their environment becomes unstable.

They have tentacles that can shoot harpoon-like filaments in to their prey(which mainly consist of small fish, crabs, and plankton. But bigger species can eat jellyfish and seastars!), which then release a paralyzing neurotoxin. After their prey is paralyzed, they use their tentacles to guide it into their mouth.

There are more than 1,000 different species, most of which live in tropical waters. They can be many different colours and sizes!

They have a symbiotic relationship with green alge! Sea Anemones provide a safe place and good exposure to light, while the alge provides suger and oxygen!

Another symbiotic relationship is with clownfish. The clownfish are safe to live inside the tentacles of the anemone, and the anemone gets to eat the leftovers of the food that the clownfish eat!!

Moon Jellyfish

(Aurelia Labiata)

They are most commonly found along the west coast of north america, they can live in waters ranging ranging from -6°C to 31°C. They usually float near the surface of the water but can be found up to 3200ft. Below sea level. They usually eat zooplankton, flish eggs, crustaceans, etc.

when a moon jelly is starving it can actually keep functioning but will dramatically shrink in size!!

They have four stomachs, you can see the food through them!(which is located on the bell, or the top of the jellyfish) They have a pretty short life, usually being born in the early spring and dying early fall. They do have a thing called life cycle reversal though!! Where they grow younger instead of older!!!! They actually have no brain, heart, or anything like that. But they do have a small nervous system called the nervous net!!

Pacific Sea Nettles

(Chrysaora Fuscescens)

Sea Nettles are common in the coastal waters of California and Oregon. They are mainly a yellow or reddish-brown colour!! They live near the surface of the water column in shallow bays and harbors during the fall and winter. In sping and summer they swim in large groups in the deep ocean!! Theyre carnivores, usually eating other jellies, and zooplankton!

They cant actually see like we do, they can see light and dark using things called "eye spots" on their bell or tentacle base to get around! They usually live about 6 months, but can ultimately live up to a year!

Their stings feel very similar to a bee sting, it doesnt have any serious effects except to people who are specifically sensitive to the toxin.

FINALLY A MORE IN-DEPTH CHARACTER INTRO POST

This AU will take inspiration from the Jurassic Park and World movies. Potentially the Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory shows as well (I haven’t read the books yet unfortunately)

Stanford Pines- Head geneticist and came up with the original idea for Jurassic Park and the InGen cloning technology. His plans and research expeditions were originally funded by the Northwest Family while he was in college, and they helped him acquire Isla Sorna and Nublar (with the promise of getting a share of the money the park makes. He does not fully trust the family and does not want them involved as much as possible)

He’s also in charge of documentation, finding new blood samples, employee hiring, animal welfare, and dealing with potential investors. He’s a very curious person who cares deeply about the dinosaurs and sharing his knowledge of the creatures with the world. However, he can get frustrated easily when dealing with difficult visitors/investors.

His favorite dinosaur is the Velociraptor.

Fiddleford McGucket- Head Engineer and co-founder of InGen and the park. He created the egg incubators and developed the plans for the various paddocks around the island. He’ll also help out with filling in any incomplete gaps in the dinosaur DNA and does routine inspections of the fences around the island. He isn’t a big fan of dealing with the business side of the park, so he mostly stays in the lab and supervises any construction.

Fun fact, any scientists who work in the labs where the embryos and eggs develop are called nursery attendants by the other employees. Fiddleford is not the biggest fan of this nickname. Since he grew up on a farm, he isn’t as affectionate towards the dinosaurs compared to Ford, similar to how he is in canon with the specimens in the bunker. He will help Ford with welfare though since he has experience dealing with “livestock”

Similar to Ian Malcolm in the movies, he was not exactly on board with the park idea, and still holds many reservations about cloning the more dangerous species, but he stays (mostly) silent out of a desire to support Ford and his plans.

His favorite dinosaur is the Maiasaura

Stanley Pines- Head of Park Security. In the story, he and Ford make up much sooner than in canon, and he decides to stay and help with the project after Ford offers him a job.

Stan enjoys the position a lot, and is hoping to one day "punch a dinosaur in the face" (though Ford does not allow any harm to come to the dinosaurs unless absolutely necessary)

In addition to park security, Stan also helps with merchandise ideas and will sometimes help run some of the gift shops in the main visitors section of the park. He's also in charge of search and rescue missions, any potential animal escapes, and transporting any sick dinosaurs back to the laboratory areas for treatment.

His favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus (mainly due to the massive club tails)

William "Bill" Cipher- Head Programmer who is in charge of designing any computer and cyber-security programs the park requires. He also has a fair bit of engineering knowledge and will often help Fiddleford with any inspections of the gates and electric fences all around the island (though they tend to not get along very well)

Not much is known about him other than the fact that he graduated from West Coast Tech. The other employees tend to think he's a bit creepy, but if Stanford hired him then he must be good at what he does, and nobody can deny the fact he's quite intelligent. For unknown reasons, he seems to know a strange amount of information about Ford and his personal life.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee fired off two dozen requests Wednesday morning pressing federal agency leaders for information about plans to install AI software throughout federal agencies amid the ongoing cuts to the government's workforce.

The barrage of inquiries follow recent reporting by WIRED and The Washington Post concerning efforts by Elon Musk’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to automate tasks with a variety of proprietary AI tools and access sensitive data.

“The American people entrust the federal government with sensitive personal information related to their health, finances, and other biographical information on the basis that this information will not be disclosed or improperly used without their consent,” the requests read, “including through the use of an unapproved and unaccountable third-party AI software.”

The requests, first obtained by WIRED, are signed by Gerald Connolly, a Democratic congressman from Virginia.

The central purpose of the requests is to press the agencies into demonstrating that any potential use of AI is legal and that steps are being taken to safeguard Americans’ private data. The Democrats also want to know whether any use of AI will financially benefit Musk, who founded xAI and whose troubled electric car company, Tesla, is working to pivot toward robotics and AI. The Democrats are further concerned, Connolly says, that Musk could be using his access to sensitive government data for personal enrichment, leveraging the data to “supercharge” his own proprietary AI model, known as Grok.

In the requests, Connolly notes that federal agencies are “bound by multiple statutory requirements in their use of AI software,” pointing chiefly to the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, which works to standardize the government’s approach to cloud services and ensure AI-based tools are properly assessed for security risks. He also points to the Advancing American AI Act, which requires federal agencies to “prepare and maintain an inventory of the artificial intelligence use cases of the agency,” as well as “make agency inventories available to the public.”

Documents obtained by WIRED last week show that DOGE operatives have deployed a proprietary chatbot called GSAi to approximately 1,500 federal workers. The GSA oversees federal government properties and supplies information technology services to many agencies.

A memo obtained by WIRED reporters shows employees have been warned against feeding the software any controlled unclassified information. Other agencies, including the departments of Treasury and Health and Human Services, have considered using a chatbot, though not necessarily GSAi, according to documents viewed by WIRED.

WIRED has also reported that the United States Army is currently using software dubbed CamoGPT to scan its records systems for any references to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. An Army spokesperson confirmed the existence of the tool but declined to provide further information about how the Army plans to use it.

In the requests, Connolly writes that the Department of Education possesses personally identifiable information on more than 43 million people tied to federal student aid programs. “Due to the opaque and frenetic pace at which DOGE seems to be operating,” he writes, “I am deeply concerned that students’, parents’, spouses’, family members’ and all other borrowers’ sensitive information is being handled by secretive members of the DOGE team for unclear purposes and with no safeguards to prevent disclosure or improper, unethical use.” The Washington Post previously reported that DOGE had begun feeding sensitive federal data drawn from record systems at the Department of Education to analyze its spending.

Education secretary Linda McMahon said Tuesday that she was proceeding with plans to fire more than a thousand workers at the department, joining hundreds of others who accepted DOGE “buyouts” last month. The Education Department has lost nearly half of its workforce—the first step, McMahon says, in fully abolishing the agency.

“The use of AI to evaluate sensitive data is fraught with serious hazards beyond improper disclosure,” Connolly writes, warning that “inputs used and the parameters selected for analysis may be flawed, errors may be introduced through the design of the AI software, and staff may misinterpret AI recommendations, among other concerns.”

He adds: “Without clear purpose behind the use of AI, guardrails to ensure appropriate handling of data, and adequate oversight and transparency, the application of AI is dangerous and potentially violates federal law.”

McGovern wrote: “The original funding bill (that he [Musk] killed) included what’s called an “outbound investment” provision—which would limit & screen U.S. money flowing to China. That would have made it easier to keep cutting-edge AI and quantum computing tech—as well as jobs—in America. But Elon had a problem.” DeLauro gave even more context to this provision vetting investments in China: “This outbound investment provision was agreed to after months of bipartisan, bicameral negotiations and years of advocacy from Members of Congress. It would have kept innovation and manufacturing in semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and other cutting-edge technologies in the United States and prevented wealthy investors from continuing to offshore production and U.S. intellectual property into China – benefiting only their bottom lines and the Chinese Communist Party.” But Musk—per these two members of Congress—led the charge to block this proposed legislation because as McGovern accurately noted, Musk’s “second-largest market is China. He’s building huge factories there. His bottom line depends on staying in China’s good graces.” The result was that when the new budget deal was agreed upon Friday, guess what was missing? Yep, the provision that would’ve been bad for Musk’s business deals with the Chinese Communist Party—which is in essence Musk’s business partner as the NY Times detailed earlier this year in an article titled, “How Elon Musk Became ‘Kind of Pro-China.’” (Musk’s exact words.)

Rep. DeLauro explained in more detail the financial incentive behind Musk’s action to block this provision: “Musk’s car company, Tesla has poured billions of dollars into investments in China, particularly its “gigafactory” in Shanghai. The Shanghai plant is Tesla’s largest car manufacturing facility – the Chinese gigafactory produced about 50 percent of Tesla’s global automobile output over the last year.” DeLauro continued, “And in May of this year, Tesla broke ground on a new $200 million factory to manufacture large batteries critical to its electric vehicle supply chain…Notably, proponents of regulating U.S. investment in China have advocated for the inclusion of large battery manufacturing in the list of technologies subject to outbound investment screening.” Yep, these new law could’ve impacted Musk’s new business venture per DeLauro.

Rep. McGovern also raised concerns about Musk’s future business plans involving China, explaining Musk “wants to build an AI data center there too—which could endanger U.S. security.” Importantly, DeLauro detailed for all to see Musk’s documented personal relations with the Chinese Communist Party, noting, “Musk has ingratiated himself with Chinese Communist Party leadership.” For example, she cited Musk’s close ties with “Chinese premier Li Qiang, who helped rush the construction of Tesla’s Shanghai gigafactory.” DeLauro concluded her letter by writing, “It is extremely alarming that House Republican leadership, at the urging of an unelected billionaire, scrapped…this critical provision to protect American jobs and critical capabilities.” Adding, “This is particularly concerning given Elon Musk’s extensive investments in China in key sectors and his personal ties with Chinese Communist Party leadership, and calls into question the real reason for Musk’s opposition to the original funding deal.”

i notice a lot from the fandom that people depict Froger as a frog, which i think is bizzare. I know someone else made a post about this, but I wanted to add my own thoughts

Look at that, it’s like she’s in one of those ____ in real life videos! Frogfish are in the angler family, they have lures (minus the whole bioluminescence thing) and everything. They’re actually pretty unheard of so I assume most folks don’t know frogfish exist so making her a frog was easier to envision. But having her be a frog whereas all the other anglers are fish is strange. Every other angler/fish based entity are saltwater exclusive creatures if not from the deep sea itself. Why would there be a freshwater frog, and it’s an angler? How would it have even come from the original angler? She’d be very out of place in the enviornment. Knowing she’s based off the Iron Lung monster is another thing though. I don’t think it’s confirmed but the fandom website for Iron Lung says that the monster is inspired off of a frogfish or at least an anglerfish in general. Though the fandom websites for Pressure both say she’s a frogfish. Also, why in the world would a frog have an anglerfish lure? Though I understand it was added quite recently, I still find frog designs of her funny. Another frogfish trait she has is the texture of her skin/on the ridges of her eyes. It’s the same whiskerlike sensory hairs that some species of frogfish have.

I don’t get why so many fans are so salty about the fact Zeal gave them canon genders and then gifted Froger a lure. “Why would gasses have a gender” there is a ten foot tall, completely sentient mutated fish man with glowing eyes that sells items to you. How about the things that disguise themselves as walls so that they can sneak up and eat you, or the fact you can eat THEM if they die. I feel like these things would stir up better questions than the fact the anglers have genders. I think that Froger being a girl is so cool honestly. I don’t see many completely monsterous female characters.

I also feel like Froger has an increased chance of being more intelligent. Her hunting strategy of going back three times is unlike any of the other anglers and is very persistent. She relies on the player being inexperienced and leaving the first time, and if not, getting them on the third time if they leave the locker. The rest of the anglers hunting mechanics are just to rush forward without breaking the path, unless it’s to catch you when you’re in sight. Chainsmoker is a tiny bit of an exception but I plan to write a thread about him later. The overseer document says itself that Froger “knew the player was there” and returned for them. Which brings the question, why is she the only one to exibit advanced techniques? I know pandemonium is similar but he’s not an angler, only connected to the family through electrical signals and other features. I feel like the fandom brushes off Froger or declares their hatred for her outright. I tried to find her in a comment section about unpopular Pressure faves and found one mention of her. Here's what we do know, based on verified sources and intelligence assessments:

🧪 Iran's Nuclear Program — The Basics

Iran has a civilian nuclear program that it says is for peaceful purposes, such as generating electricity and medical research.

Iran has enriched uranium to levels closer to weapons-grade (up to 60%), but weapons-grade uranium is 90% enriched. They've not publicly crossed that line.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that Iran has the technical capacity to build a bomb, but there is no evidence that they have made the political decision to do so.

📜 The Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA)

In 2015, Iran signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with the U.S., EU, and others.

Under this deal:

Iran agreed to strict limits on uranium enrichment.

They allowed IAEA inspections of nuclear facilities.

In return, sanctions were lifted.

In 2018, President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal and reimposed sanctions.

The UNRWA-Hamas Linkage 

Since Hamas' savage attack against Israel on October 7th 2023, the IDF has been operating in Gaza to eliminate Hamas' military and governance capabilities and free the Israeli hostages. During this operation, a wealth of new intelligence has been gathered on Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terror organizations. Israeli forces have retrieved millions of documents in captured enemy material. This new intelligence exposed two related issues: first, the involvement of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) employees in the October 7th massacre. Second, the deep and systemic infiltration by those terror organizations, particularly Hamas, into the ranks of UNRWA.

What are the new findings on UNRWA in Gaza?

The collection and analysis of the new information is still ongoing, yet it is already clear that a significant share of UNRWA's employees in Gaza serve in the ranks of Hamas and other terror organizations, including in military positions.

Israel has sent UNRWA an official letter with a list of 100 terror operatives employed by the agency with their names, ID and military ID numbers.

Over 10% of senior UNRWA educators in Gaza (school principals or deputy principals, directors or deputy directors of training centers) were found to be members of Hamas or Islamic Jihad (click here for details).

Over thirty UNRWA facilities in Gaza have been found to contain terror infrastructures such as tunnel shafts, reflecting a deeply concerning, and possibly systematic, abuse of the status of these facilities for terrorist purposes. Hamas operated a high-end server farm directly under UNRWA's Gaza headquarters, with communication and electricity cables connecting both compounds.

Intelligence shows that Hamas considers UNRWA an essential asset both for maintaining its rule over Gaza and for exploiting its facilities to build terror infrastructure. It is not a case of "a few rotten apples", as some have tried to portray it.

Multiple times in the past, Israel provided UNRWA with information on members of Hamas that are employed by the agency, yet no action was taken.

What did Israel do with the information?

In January, as the full details were still being gathered, Israel discretely shared the initial details with UNRWA's High Commissioner, Phillipe Lazzarini. This included the names of twelve UNRWA employees, who had been identified at the time as having participated in the October 7th massacre.

Subsequently, the UN Secretary General ordered an investigation by the UN's Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) strictly on the involvement of those twelve employees in the October 7th massacre. In addition, the Secretary General appointed an external Review Group to examine UNRWA's neutrality mechanisms, chaired by Former French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna. In early March, both bodies visited Israel where they received detailed briefings and information, including raw intelligence, exposing the full depth and breadth of the terror infiltration into UNRWA.

In parallel, the information was shared with Israel's intelligence partners and was presented to the relevant officials in UNRWA's donor countries.

The often-repeated claim that Israel did not share information on the UNRWA-Hamas nexus is entirely false.

UNRWA in Gaza is beyond repair

As the new revelations on UNRWA were being gathered, and following a thorough inter-agency assessment, Israel concluded that the terror infiltration into UNRWA's Gaza operations poses a grave security risk and seriously jeopardizes the humanitarian efforts. Furthermore, it was concluded that the problem cannot be fixed by reforms or the introduction of new "neutrality mechanisms" in UNRWA, for two key reasons:

First, contrary to most of the donor governments, UNRWA – like the UN itself – does not regard Hamas as a terrorist organization. As recently as February 2024, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths publicly stated that “Hamas is not a terrorist group for us, as you know, it is a political movement." Moreover, reforms will not change the basic fact that UNRWA in Gaza is the only UN entity in the world which runs a state-like enterprise employing 13,000 local staff members, managed by a small number of international staff, in an area controlled by a terrorist organization with a genocidal agenda (the Hamas Charter openly states that: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it"). UNRWA has yet to show any inclination to investigate the affiliation of over 2000 of its staff in Hamas and other terrorist organizations, nor to dismiss them. It also has not declared whether it considers employing Hamas militants as a breach of its neutrality.

Secondly, over the past decade UNRWA announced various reforms and new "mechanisms" ostensibly aimed at ensuring its neutrality to address public scandals and concerns by donors. However, an analysis of those measures shows that they were ineffectual and never fully implemented. This reflects either a lack of will or a lack of ability to apply steps which effectively prevent terror infiltration. For example, UNRWA boasts of conducting quarterly "neutrality inspection" of its facilities, yet those checks, conducted by local staff (who may or may not be Hamas members), according to UNRWA's own website, look only for political slogans in posters and graffiti, not for any evidence of abuse by terrorist organizations:

"Installation inspections include checks for: (i) proper use and placement of signage, including: flags, UN sign/logo, no weapons sign; (ii) ensuring that the building is free of political slogans, flags, posters and other markings; (iii) a short questionnaire for the installation manager on any experiences related to incursions, unauthorized activity and harassment of staff..."

A ’neutrality breach’ according to UNRWA’s definition is "taking sides in hostilities or engaging in controversies of a political, racial, religious, or ideological nature." Infiltration by a terror organization that then exploits UNRWA facilities to further their terror organization’s objectives goes far beyond a mere neutrality breach. It undermines all other humanitarian principles, including humanity, impartiality and independence. UNRWA's attempt to frame the issue as merely one concerning neutrality is misleading and points to ineffective solutions. Preventing terror infiltration of such massive enterprises requires tools that UN agencies in the field do not have, starting with the ability to define local terrorist organizations as such.

UNRWA can be replaced in Gaza gradually without hampering the humanitarian effort

After the exposure of the extent of terrorist infiltration of UNRWA, Israel’s humanitarian policy has been to shift focus to working with responsible aid organizations that aren’t compromised by terrorist organizations. The priority has been to do so without hampering the goal of increasing and improving the humanitarian assistance provided to the civilian population in Gaza. This policy was devised and approved after a thorough assessment of UNRWA's role in the humanitarian effort and its functioning since October 7th. The assessment concluded as follows:

UNRWA has underperformed logistically on the ground since October 7th, including inter alia by failing to scale up its operations in a timely fashion while simultaneously trying to take lead in multiple operational areas in which it did not have deep expertise. UNRWA has attempted to create a monopoly on the distribution of aid in Gaza at the expense of other humanitarian agencies, and the cluster system that the UN applies in all other humanitarian missions worldwide. Instead of adopting a professional, solutions-oriented approach, UNRWA's top leadership prioritized their political and media campaign against Israel which included countless baseless accusations and disinformation.

UNRWA's functions in Gaza can be gradually transferred to more professional providers. For example, for a period of six weeks in February and March 2024 UNRWA didn’t make a single request to take aid to the north of Gaza where it was needed most. Instead, the food relief was brought by other actors such as the private sector, other UN agencies and international NGOs. Since the start of the war, UNRWA was responsible for bringing in 15% of the aid, compared to 27% by the Egyptian Red Crescent and 20% by the World Food Program (WFP). There are many other responsible humanitarian actors, including other UN organizations and over 43 NGOs currently operating in Gaza, who can take a larger role in aid distribution.

In the longer run, UNRWA's state-like function as a provider of basic services, such as education, health and garbage collection, could and should be transferred to local civilian authorities in post-Hamas Gaza.

Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, has repeatedly demonstrated that it prioritizes terror over the wellbeing of Gazan civilians. It exploits them as human shields and views a humanitarian crisis as an integral part of their war strategy. The effectiveness of the humanitarian efforts in Gaza, and the safety of the people involved in it, requires their complete delinking from Hamas. Unfortunately, the UN’s and UNRWA’s leadership have chosen to understate the severity of this unprecedented scandal, leading to what might go down as one of the biggest whitewashes in the history of the United Nations.

Pursuant to these assessments, Israel is effecting a graduated replacement of UNRWA in Gaza, without hampering the humanitarian effort.

Both UN review processes cannot offer a path to safely resume funding to UNRWA in Gaza.

The two reviews have very strict and limited terms of reference (TORs). The OIOS has been mandated to investigate only the involvement of the initial twelve UNRWA employees whose names were provided in January. The Review Group chaired by Ms. Colonna has been explicitly instructed by the TOR given to it by the Secretary General not to investigate any allegations of breaches of neutrality by UNRWA "nor make any findings of fact in respect of them." Its mandate is limited to examining UNRWA's internal mechanisms to preserve its neutrality. Furthermore, it does not intend to examine whether UNRWA's reports and public communications abide by the principles of neutrality and impartiality.

To summarize, both review processes lack the mandate and the expertise to provide donors with answers to the following questions:

Has UNRWA been deeply infiltrated by designated terrorist organizations?

Is UNRWA's exposure to terror infiltration in Gaza beyond repair?

Can UNRWA be replaced in Gaza without hampering the humanitarian effort?

Israel's assessment has resulted in affirmative answers to all three questions.

It is therefore up to governments, parliaments and the public in donor countries to make their own assessments and answer those questions before the flow of tax-payers' money to UNRWA, and through it to Hamas, continues.

Israel is willing to engage and provide all the information that can help such a process.
