Isaiah's Vision of the Lord in His Glory
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he did fly.
3 And one cried to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the middle of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphim to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: 7And he laid it on my mouth, and said, See, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.
Isaiah's Commission
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see you indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
11 Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate,
12 And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the middle of the land.
13 But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. — Isaiah 6 | American King James Version (KJVUS) The American King James Version is Produced by Stone Engelbrite. It is a simple word for modern word update from the King James English. ISAIAH‬ ‭27‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‬‬
”In that day the Lord will take his terrible, swift sword and punish Leviathan, the swiftly moving serpent, the coiling, writhing serpent. He will kill the dragon of the sea. “In that day, sing about the fruitful vineyard. I, the Lord, will watch over it, watering it carefully. Day and night I will watch so no one can harm it. My anger will be gone. If I find briers and thorns growing, I will…

Verse of the Day 9-28-22
Verse of the Day 9-28-22
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? ”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8 Only after God had purified and prepared him spiritually was Isaiah commissioned, or given or a duty and the authority needed to perform that duty, as a prophet.1 This passage reminds us of the Great Commission Jesus gave his his followers before he left the earth…

Today's Mending
It was another day in quarantine, but I feel like a human again, which was a blessing. So I sat up at the machine and tried to make some progress.
Tumblr media
The machine gave me all sorts of trouble today, no matter how I fiddled with the tension and needle. The stitch lengths were twelve kinds of inconsistent and as skippy as a Labrador in a mud puddle.
I posted on Facebook, and a friend's grandma reminded me to unscrew the bottom plate and have a look at the insides.
Tumblr media
Bleagh. Look at all that lint!
Anyway, turns out the feed dogs are a lot more consistent when they aren't fighting with felt compacted underneath them. I got the straps sewn up in short order, learned how to do that neat little x-box thing, and finished off the miniskirt tote bag!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had a couple mending commissions that got procrastinated for ages because I needed to find patches and thread that matched. They took just a few minutes each when I actually got to them. Guess that's always the case.
Tumblr media
My friend Isaiah had done a good job mending these, but all he had was light turquoise thread, and he was a bit self-conscious about having such a visible crotch mend. I put a patch of jersey under, just for stability's sake, and machined overtop in the closest thread I had.
Tumblr media
My roommate's partner's pet got ahold of some jeans and tore a raggedy hole in the important part. I trimmed down the edges, found my closest fabric, and machined all around the edges with my closest thread. The mend is still visible, but he usually wears flannels so it shouldn't be obvious. And, as I told him, "If someone does notice, you're legally allowed to kick them."
The final three projects were all for me. First up were these work pants. A couple years ago I started doing the DIY ripstop but didn't finish (time? thread? machine issues? ADHD? idk). I just had the vertical threads. They wore on each other as I walked and started tearing out really quickly. I unpicked all that old thread a while back and re-did the vertical threads, then got sidetracked (yes, again.) So today I did the rest of the ripstop. There!
Tumblr media
I also did all the ripstop for these black summer shorts.
Tumblr media
Finally, my Christmas break project was adding cargo pockets to all my pants. These less-used jeans have had pockets cut out and pinned on since then, so today I dug out fun aquamarine thread and sewed them down.
Tumblr media
I spent the end of the day messing around with my new pillowcases, but I'll drop those when they're done. :) And, most importantly, I slept in, ate well, took my meds, didn't berate myself for lack of progress, and took a nap. All in all, a really good sick day!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💜
I’m late as hell lol. Thanks for the ask twin! ❤️
Hmm okay, my 5 favorite fics that I’ve written in no particular order:
Stolen Moments
Summary:
“No,” Sam said, chuckling. “I don’t cheat,” he swept his gaze up and down James’ body, “even with guys who look like you. But, I’m bored and a little pissed, so if you wanna sit here and shoot the shit ‘til my man shows back up, I’m game.”
Never one to back to back down from a challenge - especially a challenge who looked like Sam Wilson - Bucky took another swig from his bottle and replied, “Sure, doll. I’ve got nothing but time.”
Or: Steve has Sam. Bucky wants Sam. Sam wasn’t expecting any of this.
Language: English Words: 98,826 Chapters: 20/20
Your Secrets are Safe With Me
Summary:
Bucky didn’t plan this in advance.
It wasn’t some sinister scheme he had been hatching for months in an evil lair or something.
No, Bucky wasn’t really a bad guy. He was just a guy who saw an opportunity and took it.
Or: Bucky does Sam a favor, and ends up doing himself an even bigger favor in the process.
Language: English Words: 5,451 Chapters: 1/1
You’re Blowin’ My Mind (With the Things You Say to Me)
Summary:
“Now you know I hate to get all in your business,” Sarah said, in lieu of a greeting, as she walked into the kitchen.
Sam’s resulting scoff was so loud she almost threw the coffee cup she was holding at him.
“Yeah, since when?” Sam shot back, not even bothering to look up from the table where he was working on Redwing.
“But,” she continued sharply, choosing to ignore his remark. “I think you need to talk to your boyfriend.”
“My what?” He spat, his head snapping up to stare at her.
“You know, your boyfriend,” she repeated, smirking over at him as she leaned against the counter. “The non-aging former assassin who pops up at our house on a regular basis. The same guy who drove an hour out of his way to Long’s Bakery yesterday just to get that cake you like, so he could bring it to the party. Your boyfriend, Sam.”
Or: After getting an earful from Bucky at the cookout, Sarah suggests Sam and Bucky have a chat... and they do.
Language: English Words: 2,137 Chapters: 1/1
We Need A Resolution
Summary:
“All in all, Bucky had been on his best behavior. That is, until Joaquin had shown up and latched himself to Sam’s side… the way Bucky was planning on doing for the length of the party. Sticking close to Sam had been the one thing that was going to make the evening tolerable. But the new Falcon had been in Sam’s face all night, stealing the spot that was rightfully his.”
Or: Sam’s throwing a party. Bucky’s just trying not to throw hands.
Language: English Words: 2,449 Chapters: 1/1
Things Were Lookin’ Grim, But They’re Lookin’ Good Again
Summary:
“How couldn’t you have known that, when you knew about Isaiah, man?” Sam hissed. “Maybe you didn’t know he was jailed and tortured and experimented on, but you sure as hell knew there was a Black super soldier who saved countless lives, who put your cyborg ass outta commission, and you knew nobody talked about him. You knew there weren’t any parades or news appearances or Smithsonian exhibits dedicated to him, even though he deserved as much praise as Steve and way more praise than Walker’s crazy ass, and yet you still couldn’t figure out why I might have been hesitant to take up the Captain America mantle? So, yeah, you’re right, I am angry with you, and, more than anything else, I’m disappointed in you.”
Bucky blanched. He had been ashamed before, but now he felt about as small as a person could.
Bucky needs to apologize. Sam needs to get some stuff off his chest.
Language: English Words: 3,543 Chapters: 1/1

October 11, 2023 - Exhortation
"I am doing a new thing, do you see it? I am doing something brand new, something unheard of. Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Do you see it." - Isaiah 43:19? "I will pour refreshing water on the thirsty and streams on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit ..."Isaiah 44:3
Not only are you in a NEW ERA, where God is doing a NEW THING, but YOU ARE the new thing! Your greatest season of impact is NOW. The fresh touch of the Spirit upon your life is causing that which has been unseen to be seen, and that which has not been ready to suddenly be ripe.
The increase you asked for is here. Can you see it yet? The new thing you wanted; can you see it? Because He is shifting and moving every area of your life to accommodate the magnitude of it. He is enlarging your capacity to carry it, steward it, and run with it. He is challenging complacency and defeat so you can fully embrace it, and He is overturning the enemy's plans to keep you stagnant when you asked to thrive. But can you see it?"
Do you realize what God is preparing you for right now? Do you realize that you have been prepared and groomed for right now? Are you hungry enough to allow God to dramatically interrupt your plans and usher in the new. The new is extremely inconvenient if you want to stay comfortable and not have to adjust every part of your life to it.
You are BREAKING OUT of the rut and into FRESH HOPE and a new day of wonder!
Will you pick up your torch again? Will you choose comfort or the great commission? Will you choose what you can control or that which cannot be tamed, only surrendered to? Will you say yes even when you do not know the full picture of what is ahead?

The First Lord’s Day: Jesus Rises
1-7 When the Sabbath was over, just as the first day of the week was dawning Mary from Magdala and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. At that moment there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from Heaven, went forward and rolled back the stone and took his seat upon it. His appearance was dazzling like lightning and his clothes were white as snow. The guards shook with terror at the sight of him and collapsed like dead men. But the angel spoke to the women, “Do not be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here—he is risen, just as he said he would. Come and look at the place where he was lying. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. And, listen, he goes before you into Galilee! You will see him there! Now I have told you my message.”
8 Then the women went away quickly from the tomb, their hearts filled with awe and great joy, and ran to give the news to his disciples.
9-10 But quite suddenly, Jesus stood before them in their path, and said, “Peace be with you!” And they went forward to meet him and, clasping his feet, worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go now and tell my brothers to go into Galilee and they shall see me there”
11-15 And while they were on their way, some of the sentries went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. They got together with the elders, and after consultation gave the soldiers a considerable sum of money and told them, “Your story must be that his disciples came after dark, and stole him away while you were asleep. If by any chance this reaches the governor’s ears, we will put it right with him and see that you do not suffer for it.” So they took the money and obeyed their instructions. The story was spread and is current among the Jews to this day.
Jesus gives his final commission
16-17 But the eleven went to the hill-side in Galilee where Jesus had arranged to meet them, and when they had seen him they worshipped him, though some of them were doubtful.
18-20 But Jesus came and spoke these words to them, “All power in Heaven and on earth has been given to me. You, then, are to go and make disciples of all the nations and baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you and, remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” — Matthew 28 | J.B. I was skimming thru the gospels recently, trying to get a feel for how they're structured for myself, and smth that caught my eye are what events each Gospel use to open Jesus' ministry after the initial baptism, gathering disciples etc
Matthew, wanting to present Jesus as a second Moses, opens with the Beatitudes, and the sermon on the mount. Jesus is an authoritative teacher of God's Law, the Torah, and how he tells us to live is important.
Mark similarly opens with Jesus teaching in a synagogue, except - we aren't told any of what he said! But we know he teaches with authority, an authority he demonstrates in a very dramatic way by casting a demon from a possessed man. Jesus is God's representative, one who speaks and acts with authority, and yet there's something mysterious about him that can't yet be grasped.
and it's interesting, bc it's sometimes said by people trying to push back against a hyper-theologised protestantism that neglects the social justice implications of the Gospel, that christians spend too much time focusing on the epistles theologising about who Jesus is, than the Gospels which tell us about his moral teachings. But if we accept such a binary division (which I don't), Mark is much closer to the latter than the former; he gives us some teaching, for sure, but much of his Gospel is about establishing Jesus' authority not just through miraculous works but through his Passion and Resurrection.
Luke, meanwhile, opens with Jesus at the synagogue in Nazareth, applying the words of the Prophet Isaiah to himself to declare the Spirit of the Lord is upon him to proclaim liberation and the year of the Lord's favour - in response to which he is rejected by his own hometown. This is doing a lot of things at once; firmly placing Jesus in the tradition of the OT prophet hated by others for speaking the truth and championing social justice, but also foreshadowing Luke's interest in the eventual way Christianity was rejected by Jews and went to Gentiles (which btw i acknowledge this raises issues of supersessionism, but we do not have time to unpack those; suffice to say Luke wrote with a specific agenda at a specific point in time when there was a v specific relationship btwn Jews, Gentiles, and Christianity as a Jewish sect).
Finally, John opens with... Jesus turning water to wine? It almost seems like a parody next to the other gospels! Next to handing down the law, casting out demons, and fulfilling biblical prophecy, throwing out some extra booze at a party seems rather indulgent.
Jesus even seems to acknowledge this "What concern is that to you and me? My hour has not yet come." The Son of gOD should be making a big, dramatic debut, not performing party tricks. And yet he does it anyway.
I'm sure there's much to be said about the theological significance of this - a reference to the Eucharist, a fulfillment of OT themes of the great eschatological banquet with wine running freely, 'the best wine saved for last' as symbolising Jesus.
But what strikes me most is how low-stakes it is - and it's not as if the rest of John is exactly slice-of-life; unlike the other 3 gospels people are much more consistently out to get Jesus here. And yet as his first great sign, through the miracle of water into wine Jesus celebrates the goodness of God's creation, of wine to make man's heart glad, of weddings to join two people in commitment, of parties to celebrate family and friendship. In a sense he's hallowing everyday life here; the lack of drama is the point.
And I think it makes for a poignant book-end with the epilogue to John, which involves no dramatic ascension to heaven as in Luke, nor the giving of the Great Commission as in Matthew, nor the ambiguous cliffhanger ending of Luke. It involves Jesus having breakfast on the beach with his besties. Jesus' ministry in John starts with a wedding and ends with brunch with the bros.

Hi, Sol! ^^ I don't want to hurry you or anything, we have enough stories to reread and enjoy in the meantime c: But since you wrote that you are planning the bigger and more serious heart episode for Isaiah (I have impression they are successively getting worse already😭), the perspective lives rent free in my head and I'm simply wondering, when could we expect it? Or maybe there are many things yet, that should happen before. 🥺
I'm only asking for a little sneak-peek of your plans. 😉
A. 🐾
Hi A.!
It's so cool to hear about the interest in the heart episode that's coming up! Been squealing quite long when reading this ask 🥰
Tbh the last three chapters were quite angsty about the reveal. I have been hoping to write a little conclusion to that with Hector taking Arnie to Isaiah for breakfast, but the whole thing is giving me trouble running smoothly 😅. I'm not sure how it should go LOL.
Glad you noticed the heart episodes are def getting worse 👀
The heart episode that lands Isaiah in a hospital will be quite serious and will take a few, maybe even 10 chapters of heavy influence of anything that will happen with everyone else. So I'm saving that up for its own recovery arc.
Until then I was thinking of doing a 10 chapter arc of other things the Sonder pack gets to do before Isaiah is out of commission.
The current tentative plan is:
Breakfast scene with Arnie and Hector visiting Isaiah
Matthew accused at school by a scared teacher + Isaiah coming to his defense + in need of emotional comfort (ask)
Wolf event where Seline picks a fight with a few witches and Isaiah defends her from wolves they sent at her in turn (some Isaiah power show off lol 2x asks)
Fallout of that with Matt and Sel having seen Isaiah's executioner style
Isaiah meeting Seline's parents (overeating cause he can't say no)
Hector helping Arnie with driving lessons
Seline with some sugar low freaking out Matt
Isaiah's collapse hitting out of nowhere (60. Chapter)
This plan is subject to change depending on what hits me and what kind of asks and requests come my way (always feel free to send them!! 😉).
