Pavel's devastating performance in Pit Babe this week. I am a loud and proud angst/whump/h-c lover from my earliest days in fandom and he made me cry twice. Fantastic job, kid.

The Brothers Sun {finished: 3 stars} - The acting is a little flat and I didn't find the younger brother as funny as I think he is supposed to be. But the story was excellent and it picked up a lot in the second half.

For Him - We finally get a definitive answer about what happened to Blue and it was exactly what I feared. I half thought he might be in a hospital somewhere, because that would still fit with how all of his friends and Him were acting. But no. The contrast between Him's supportive mother, who got him into therapy when she saw how badly he was struggling and Blue's abusive parents whose expectations made him miserable, was stark.

Gyeongseong Creature {finished: 5 stars} - This first part is brutal and I loved it a huge amount. But it did increase my desire to find a decent book on Korean history because what I learned in world history in the 90s would fit on the head of a pin. I need the second part to be released asap, pls and thank you Netflix. Also, will there be zombies? Because it seems like an argument could be made. If there are, I will watch anyway and keep a pillow shield handy.

Pit Babe - Gimme that sweet sweet angst. I knew what was coming as soon as Charlie told Babe how his powers could return and was not disappointed. Highlight of the week.

School Spirits {finished: 4 stars} - Pretty good teen paranormal murder mystery that my partner and I knocked out in one couch day last weekend. It's not super original: a high school senior dies on school grounds and finds out there are other ghosts stuck too - murder mystery commences. The characters were engaging though and the twist at the end kinda came out of nowhere (par the course for me though), so now I'm looking forward to season two.

Re: Translation

Full disclosure I do not know/speak Korean, so I often just start reading these just with Google Translate and I'm able to get the gist of everything! I also recommend using Deepl and Papago for a little more context/nuance, if you'd like and/or if you have time for that lol.

Re: Names

Since these are Korean authors, about 90% of the time the characters' Korean localized names are used (Kogure Kiminobu = Kwon Junho, Mitsui Hisashi = Jung Daeman*).

*The machine translations will translate some of the Korean names to a literal meaning-so "Chisoo" (Akagi) will translate as "Dimensions", "Baekho" (Sakuragi) will sometimes translate as "White Tiger", etc. This is that case here where Daeman will translate to Taiwan (a literal meaning) pretty much everytime. If I remember correctly I think Korean fans have noted that it's kind of an older ("very 1980s") name.

watching the first ep of season 2 of d.p and im so confused... i thought junho also ended up deserting at the end of season 1 but now hes just back doing the same job with no consequences like it never happened? Am I missing something or does this get explained as it goes on?

I know that the cast of EAW has said this in many interviews already that they did not expect or think this show, was going to gain such immense popularity as it has. That being said with only 5 episodes left. This is definitely a show that can go on for a few more seasons(maybe 2 or 3 more seasons). I know some might be against that but, there are so many different cases that they can write about.

They can continue to show the ups and downs of Junho and Woo Young Woo dating and the new experiences Young woo learns from dating Junho.

Woo young woo moving out on her own or maybe with her best friend as she always says she is an adult and wants to learn/make mistakes on her own freewill from her Dads support.

Characters like Minwoo are dime dozen so they can have new characters that question Woo Young woo ability as a attorney and try to hinder her that we can hate immensely.😈

They can have a side story arc of romance for woo young woo best friend Dong Geurami or better yet forming a strong friend alliance with Choi Su-Yeon (I would love to see that more honestly) 😂

Also having Woo Gwang-Ho find romance. He has solely lived for his daughter and now that she is dating he doesn't have to worry as much, as he did before and start to slowly ease back out there into the dating world a bit.

I seriously hope there is talk amongst the writer, cast and director about this cause man I would love a season 2 especially with Kang Tae-Oh going to the military for 18 months🥲 just when popularity is kicking off for him do to his performance in this show.

Lim Sanghyun talks about his upcoming drama ‘King of the Land’ and his role as Lee Rowoon

JTBC’s new drama, ‘King of the Land’ tells the story of Goo Won (played by Lee Junho) who is the heir of The King Group, a luxury hotel conglomerate and Cheon Sarang (played by Im Yoona), a hotelier who always has a smile on her face until she meets Goo Won.

In the drama, the LGC Agency model will be portraying as Lee Rowoon, a flight attendant of King Air who has a crush on Sarang’s best friend, Pyeong Hwa. While the drama will focus primarily on the two main characters, the ‘King of the Land’ PD has hinted that viewers will get to see the dynamics between Rowoon and Pyeong Hwa, which some of them are excited to see.

This is the fourth drama appearance LIM SANGHYUN has made, with his previous appearances on ‘Kim Family’, ‘Cram School 2’, and ‘The Truth Untold’. Many people may know the model from his recent appearance on the latest season of ‘Future Dreams: Alumni’ and are elated to see the model make his acting return.

The first episode of ‘King of the Land’ is scheduled to air on March 16 and will be airing until May 5.

Dramas 2023

Just some of my thoughts for some of the dramas of 2023...

-KING THE LAND !!!!! The natural chemistry between the main leads is just so so soooo real that it makes it hard to believe that they're "just friends" in reality; However, at the same time it makes sense, as both Junho and Yoona have been in the entertainment industry and have known each other for a long time (2pm and SNSD go wayyyy back, IYKYK). I'm kind of surprised it took them this long to meet for a drama project, but as a fan of both 2pm and SNSD, I'm so glad to see them both working together again. There are so many funny moments in this drama and the added sound effects and acting make some of the scenes so funny. I also like the easter eggs added in the drama haha. Definitely a feel-good drama. I ship the main leads..!! They already know each other so well and they're also starting to look the same haha. -See You in My 19th Life This series is based on the webtoon, and the drama was surprisingly not bad. Ahn Bo Hyun and Shin Hye Sun both are great together, and I feel like recently Shin Hye Sun has been typecasted into these somewhat typical bold, fearless characters that are also seemingly reflective of her own personality but in this drama I was able to kind of see somewhat of a different side to her (hard to explain hahah). And Ahn Bo Hyun...he's very versatile as an actor. And finding out that he's now dating Jisoo of BP...super unexpected haha !! The drama itself is somehow comforting with all the characters meshing well together. Pleasant~~

-Celebrity Hmmmmm this one was great but something about the female lead I can't put my finger on.. While I do feel like her acting has improved over the years and I see that in some scenes of this drama as well, there were parts where it just seemed flat but I'm not sure if it's just how her character was written. The storyline itself was definitely interesting nonetheless, and I didn't have much expectations going into it, but it does touch upon the effects of social media in modern times and I liked the mystery/thriller type of vibe.

-D.P. Star-studded cast; haven't watched this yet but excited to pick up where they left off for season 1.

-The Real Has Come The cast is talented and there are strong characters in this drama and lots of twists and funny moments. It's light and funny, but there's 50 episodes so there are definitely times where it's a bit draggy but also that's typical of any family dramas. -Oasis Jang Dong Yoon!!! Hahaha I think the cast did a great job with their portrayals though I feel like Jang Dong Yoon just has such a baby-face and looks like he wouldn't hurt a fly but he looked so cool playing this role as Lee Doo Hak. I liked the old-fashioned style of this drama as it took place in the 80s-90s Korea, so it was really refreshing to see the type of fashion, dialects and overall atmosphere during that time through this drama, and think about how much has changed. There were parts of the drama that felt a little repetitive, but I think overall the cast made up for it. -Apple of My Eye (금이야, 옥이야) Typical family drama, a little predictable but expected haha.

I still do like him, but ever since 1n2d season 3 ended junho has not been in anything remarkable. which is really sad because I honestly think this mf is so funny. granted, I also think the korean variety show era has truly dwindled and maybe even have died but I used to watch junho in everything. he used to be the fucking host for like ULZZANG SHIDAE... when I tell you this man was actually everywhere 10 years ago. I know he's still doing things and he's on my little old boy or some shit but it's not the same. he peaked in the 2010's and everything he touched was gold. I still go back and watch his shows and piss myself but now he's dating jimin (who I also love don't get me wrong) and they REALLY push for that fodder when in reality, other than the initial surprise of it all? nobody really gives a damn that they're together. they were colleagues, they knew each other for a long time, and similarly they both kind of faded off into oblivion in regards to the korean variety industry. all these new celebrities that are becoming more and more prominent are not funny and they'll never be junho or jimin or really, a huge circle of comedians who actually WERE gag men and women back in the last decade. not to say everyone who was "big" back then are leading mundane sad lives now because often times they're putting comedy aside and starting families but bro? I miss some of these people so much and they MADE shows funny. shows were not just written or situated with funny games, but the people in the shows created the atmosphere where humor could thrive and I think it's very hard to do that. somewhere along the way that was completely lost and that's so sad to see but I'll always have those 92 episodes of human condition so it softens the blow a little bit...

now that I've had a bit more time to think about the finale it really was actually quite messy and underwhelming lol it clearly did take youngwoo's side more than the previous episodes which was a clear positive evolution but I can't manage to feel fully satisfied about all the things that were presented as positive. and since I still don't really know if they knew there would be a season 2 when they wrote the ending... how convenient if they didn't because that's a good excuse for wrapping things so lightly and messily if they can pick them up again. yes youngwoo is fulfilled and happy at hanbada - but I'm sad the show kind of gave up on exploring how inadequate working there made her feel in regards to her own ethics because yes this time she was able to do things her way but it was because it served the ceo's plot against tae sumi not because everyone suddenly agreed that they should always serve the truth as attorneys -, yes she got to respect her brother wishes and help him out - and she clearly got attached to him very quickly but then the episode ends and we don't even know if they're in contact or not or if they want to get to know each other better or how her father reacts to her meeting her half brother so it feels quite underwhelming -, yes she got back with junho and they're very cute and all and i'm so happy for them - but they needed to talk more because although the cat image was kind of wonky I thought it was cute (something about him loving her and the cat of caring for her and of simply being on her side) and I'm glad she felt confident to pursue a relationship with him but it felt weird to have it be called an unrequited love when youngwoo has told him several times that she likes him a lot so it's not so much but their feelings but about what the expect from the other or want to give the other and then we don't really know how that translates in their relationship and how they actually work things out and now that they're officially dating i thought he'd meet her father? -, yes tae sumi gave up on becoming minister so youngwoo isn't really a threat to her career any more - but it felt off to have her be presented as a bad mother to someone she simply hasn't been a mother to aside from biologically and the fact that everything just leads to her giving up on her main goal to be a good mother as if to redeem her from being a bad mother to youngwoo by giving her up to save her chances of getting that career she was planning for... that's not how it works ! it just made me feel again that the writer didn't really know what to do with tae sumi and wether she thought she was bad bad or not and so she just kept her on the side for most of the show and we barely know her as a result and her being led to just give up on her main motivation felt a bit like a candle that was supposed to lit up a pack of dynamite being simply blown out by a random rush of air like... that's it? all of that for that? -, yes myeongseok is not dead - but it's such a typical end of the show trope to have someone get cancer that I never doubted he'd get out of there alive so it all feels like an excuse to get the other senior attorney to take over his team so that we could see how good of a boss he was and how lucky youngwoo was to have him (and their relationship remains a delight) because look at how difficult the other is making her life look how hard she could've had it and for the ceo to take over the case in the end-, as for minwoo and sooyeon ugh - okay he's given up on plotting against youngwoo but it wasn't even working anyway and he still hasn't apologised and he's just sort of stopped criticising her every time she talks and sooyeon must be over the moon but I'm just doubting how the two of them together would treat youngwoo - so all in all I still feel like this is the show :

I'm glad youngwoo is happy and fulfilled and not in danger of losing control over her life and that she thinks her life is beautiful (and she's so right) but a lot of the reprehensible behaviour that people have done towards her hasn't been corrected and the pacing and tone of the show took turns it shouldn't have so I'm a bit torn

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care anymore?

There were some k-pop ships I used to ship but as time went by I just stopped. Maybe because I’m not as much into k-pop as I used to be.

I also don’t ship any of Hetalia’s characters anymore.

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Stella and Brandon from Winx Club or Kevin and Gewn from Ben 10: Alien Force. That was even before I was aware of what shipping was.

While I was aware, I think it was Shizaya? Durarara was one of the first animes I watched. And Heiwajima Shizuo and Orihara Izaya's love-hate relationship was so good for a 12-year-old me.

Or it could be SasuNaru…

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

Written it was Merciless. 

But read? That was so long time ago...

I remember I found some Ben 10 stories on the Internet and I read a lot of them as a kid.

But when I read and I was aware I was reading fanfics it was most likely SasuNaru or Darry. It was most likely still on Wattpad or fanfiction.net. On or those self-publishing blogs. Those were popular back then.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw a fanart over?

Probably SasuNaru. Or another ship that was popular at the beginning of the 2010s.

5. Did you ever get into ship discourse?

I try not to. I mostly believe that fiction is fiction and when I don't like something I just don't read it.

I like to read people's points of view though.

6. Did you used to have any no-otp or have it currently?

Not really. I used to hate UkFrance from Hetalia but now I just don't care. And I never really shipped Destiel. But I'm not sure I would call them a no-otp.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

A new chapter of Merciless fic that I'm always waiting for was published. It's called Hidsight by duty_free. AND IT'S AWESOME, GO READ IT. It's a wonderful continuation to The Merciless that can actually fix those two morons (I have hope, it's still ongoing)

Before it, my friend @frayed-at-the-seams published her fic about Junho and Hoyeol from D.P. It's called Dogs and Cats. It's an interesting supernatural spin on the original story and it allows Junho and Hoyeol to be cute ❤️

Zeke x Levi from Shingeki no Kyojin. I used to not be much into it but there is an amazing reincarnation comic AU on twitter (here) with them and I have to say that they have a potential.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, was considered normal but now you would be canceled over?

Not sure... There were some ships that I wasn't aware of age. I don't mind ships with big age differences but I like for both parties to be over 18.

So maybe as an example Levi x Eren? Eren was 15 and now looking back I'm not sure if I would ship it. 

12. What was your favorite crack ship?

Tried to think of something but my head is empty. I don't believe I don't have any crack ships!

13. Who is the couple you read more fanfics of?

Shizaya, GinHiji or ChanBaek. They have big fandoms so I could just move from one fic to another. 

Also YoonMin. I used to ship them a lot but now not really but I read a lot of fics with them.

14. What most of your ships usually have in common?

They usually banter or tease each other. Those love-hate relationships are my favorites. And more of them lately have an age difference.

15. What you absolutely hate in a ship?

Lack of chemistry? I hate too much drama but also don't like where everything is fine. And cheating.

number one, no questions asked, GWISAN!!!! i could and quite honestly DO talk about gwinam/cheongsan every moment of the day, they are ADDICTING. almost have the urge to full on rant about them right here at this very moment but i’ll save it because it’ll be a WHOLE THING ;P

quite honestly besides that, it’s difficult to rank because i have SO MANY ships worthy of mentioning…. recently i’ve been liking moonjo/jongwoo from (SfH/HiOP)…. because, is it even love if you try to kill eachother??? just THEM and the drama itself; literal heaven.

I hate to say it but the whale couple arc makes sense. One of my biggest issues is that each case seems to present Young woo with an insecurity that doesn't get resolved completely. Up until now it's more or less glossed over with a cute scene immediately after. But since episode one, she's taken on so much, I mean 2 people died in front of her on cases she was directly involved with.

She's constantly seeing and experiencing intense backlash in her work life from the caretakers of the disabled. She's heard it from many people who've known Junho longer than her. There's even an implication that she's internalized the thought that a majority of the population would prefer people like her to not exist. None of this she's been able to talk about, so to have this come to a head with Myeongseok and his relationship, and her obvious abandonment issues from her mom, of course she would let Junho go because she feels like too much of a burden.

All this said, I hope they get a second season and it's just the poor girl in therapy and having fun adventures with Geurami. It would also help to cover Tae oh's absence. I think she's going to take up the U.S. offer herself so she can focus on

1) How to get a better understanding of herself and how she works so she can learn how to effectively communicate her emotions.

2) Getting out of the limelight in Korea that's likely going to blow up soon.

3) Learn how to be independent, not that she's entirely dependent on anyone. The whole "can you make your own meal" line from episode 2 stood out to her too much for it not to be something she's always thinking about.

Anyways, Minwoo and his redemption can choke. ✌️

Extraordinary Attorney Woo's final thoughts

Since I didn't post that much about it, you probably wouldn't be able to know this has become my favorite kdrama of the year and it's among my all-time faves now. But I truly loved everything about this drama, even the uncertain, angsty and messy parts.

At first, I was just gonna check it out for Kang Tae Oh (about time he got to be the male lead!) and Park Eun Bin without expecting much and well, the rest is history. Now we're getting part 2! And despite my reservations about second seasons in dramas, I know I'm gonna be there to watch as long as there's Park Eun Bin playing YoungWoo and Kang TaeOh playing her Junho. Drama Gods, don't fail me! Stars, align and make it happen!! Cause it must!

I loved that the most powerful people in the show were two intelligent, classy and educated women. I loved that YoungWoo's strongest gift was her brain but also, her will to want to become better and her strong desire to protect the weak and innocent. I loved the side characters: YoungWoo's loyal friends, Spring Sunshine (who defied stereotypes and lived up to her nickname), Attorney Jung (everyone should have a first job mentor like him) and even sketchy MinWoo who kinda redeemed himself (if he returns for S2 I'm not gonna let him go easily though, the writer needs to work more on him so that he fully deserves Spring Sunshine!).

And of course, I loved our male lead, Lee Junho, brought to life by Kang TaeOh. He wasn't perfect, but quite honestly didn't need to be to steal our hearts away. The man won us (and YoungWoo) just by being kind and honest and hot.

Now, because there was lots of talk about Jane Austen men and how she would've loved Junho and also, because it fits my situation, I gotta say, if I loved this drama less, I might'd been able to talk about it more.

Goodbye, Extraordinary Attorney Woo! Thank you for being wholesome and beautiful. We shall see you again in two years!

I have been watching PEB dramas since Hello, My Twenties (which is good btw has 2 seasons) then I worked my way to watching Ghost Detective (another good one💜) then hot stove league to Do you like Brahams? (a beautiful slow burn romance drama filled with classical music, angst and pain. I'm being dramatic😂) to The Kings Affection (another good one) all the way to EAW. I think I have watched everything she's had a lead in except Judge vs.Judge.

I believe if EAW didnt get the mass popularity it received and there was no talk of a season 2 and it ended like it did. I would still think it ended nicely and want a season 2 lol

Its one of those dramas that have the potential to go for another season or more because, of the potential to further dive into the relationships and the people of Habanna and the cases!!!

x We have a potential relationship of woo young woo being a older sister to her younger brother if her shit mom allows it or if the younger brother even wants it.

x The ups and downs of Junho and woo young woo dating. (She still needs to introduce him to her dad lol and he still hasn't introduced her to his parents which I kinda hope he don't give how the whole meeting with his sister went🤨😑)

x Then there is the redemption arc of shit Minwoo and him becoming/living like a fool for Choi soo-yeon.

***Real quick I read a lot of ppl pissed that choi soo-yeon started to like Minwoo. That the writer did character assination to her and I do disagree. Yes, I was annoyed by her liking him after everything he's done. But if you take away your anger for a bit she doesn't know EVERYTHING he was trying to do. We the viewers did. Yes, he wrote that shit post about nepotism that choi soo-yeon knows about and yea that should be enough in some ppls eyes to not get involved with someone like that. And she was annoyed by him all the time and ridiculed him for it until her heart started backstabbing her from his bare minimum gentleman acts. (I think its from all those shit dates she went on)🙃 let's be real we have been choi soo-yeon or have some friends like that who end up liking douche bags!!! Let's not lie~ and we try to 'change them' which sometimes works or most of the time doesn't! But when you like someone or fall in love you do start to do things completely out of character lol hence the scene where Minwoo said he will "start acting/living like a fool" cause...those are traits that Choi soo-yeon likes😝👏🏾

**Some people were pissed that Minwoo didn’t get exposed for working with Tae su-mi and trying to get woo young woo to quit or be fired. Someone said they tried to resolve it by having choi soo-yeon have a crush on him and he gets off Scott free. To that I say huh?!??! There is no correlation at all to that and I think that viewers just come to this conclusion because, we disliked him so much lol.

 Honestly in my opinion now that the drama is over can we really say Minwoo is a top notch villain? Asshole, absolutely but he sucks at being a villain.

x One, he tried to get woo young woo in trouble by sending documents the attorney could have used representing the two woman that were fired for being females and told to take care of their kids at home so the men could bring in the $$$. (That shit still makes my blood boil) Luckily the attorney wasn’t a ass and knew that would get woo young woo in trouble so she didn’t use them. Fail for Minwoo~

x Two he tried to make woo young woo anxious or maybe uncomfortable turning up the volume on the tv to have her  here them talking about her mom but, she was so focused looking for something and meeting Junho sister and husband she didn’t here it then her friend turned it to spongebob lol. I don’t know what he was really trying to do with that but FAIL for Minwoo.

Like homeboi had one job and he couldn’t even do that right lol. I believe that sometimes all characters involved don't need to know everything other characters know/did unless it crucial to the development of the drama. Does that make sense? For example not every single character found out woo young woo was Tae su-mi daughter. Another example not every character found out that the hacker that went to trial to confess his wrong doing was her half brother. Like things like this can add more to the plot that the writer will have to tie together nicely in an 1hr in 30 min or sometimes they just don’t add to what the writer is trying to convey in the next scene. So, Minwoo not getting exposed was how I saw that as well~

Don't get me wrong no way am I on the soo-yeon&minwoo love train because, nothing has really even happened BTW the two besides soo-yeon confessing that she likes him. Will have to see how they develop in season 2 but, minwoo is heading in the right direction 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I was not expecting Minwoo to do a complete 180 and be this sweet, kind person half way through the series, so for him to make a choice towards the end of the series how he wants to live his life going forward was a scene I was expecting.

People talked about the cases being boring....

If your already set in your ways watching a drama for the romance solely and that's the only thing keeping you invested then yea sadly your going to overlook the other great parts of any drama cause your brain can't seem to want to be engaged in anything else but, OTP!

Don't get me wrong I was EXACTLY like this to the 'T' in someways I still am but I think it was possibly Japanese dramas that taught me how even a subtle hint of romance or hell even none at all can still be an amazing drama keep me engaged and that has open me to so many amazing movies and dramas that have very little or no romance at all!

But people like what they like, it  can't be helped.

I enjoyed the cases because, there were engaging and it showed the rookie attorney's put in work and grow from every case they were on. It showed how smart and how Woo young woo would find out a way to win the case. And of course having Junho tag along and have special little moments with woo young woo🥰

If they didnt have cases that would be like the biggest plot hole. 😂 A bunch of attorney meeting at a restaurant that never has customers lol eating talking about cases we barley see in a courtroom lol. Just like those romance dramas with the ML is a ceo but never really see him the office working.

** side note how is that breaded man able to even still have a restaurant 🤣 from the moment he was introduce we have only seen woo young woo eat there and I doubt the gimbap she orders is keeping the lights on 💀💀💀 unless that was simply the gag through the series him never having customers. Lol

Anyways I'm happy the dad recognized his daughter is growing up and he should be so proud of his parenting as a single father👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💜

For those who did not cave and have been waiting for the drama to end I salute you. Now you can enjoy to binge watch without the week long wait.

I loved the drama I have no nitpicks whatsoever. It gave me what I wanted. I do feel this drama will win lot of awards at the end of the year and some country will probably make a remake of this drama but, honestly I hope not cause I just don't think they'll do it justice. Just watch with subtitles! Its not hard!!
