I really have to admire some people's positive outlooks, though maybe it's because I kind of want Octavia to resent Blitz at least a little bit even once things smooth over that I just can't conceive aus where the stolitz families come together in harmony and stuff. Like I don't have any super strong opinions on how a Stolas-Loona bond might develop (best case scenario it'd be Extremely awkward and stilted between them methinks), and Octavia-Loona works well enough already, but love and light Octavia would Not be about that with Blitz, at least not at the moment/until she starts finding out about Stuff, and even then I don't think that it'd be easy for her at all

Y'all, Viv frikn retconned Stolas's and Blitzo's ENTIRE relationship to the point where Stolas sounds like a hypocrite. Not only that, but she changed the kind of demon Stolas is supposed to be. YES! I'm gonna call it a retcon, cuz that's how I see it and that's what it is, you are not gonna change my mind so don't even try.

I think something that needs saying about this stolas quote

Is that yes there is multiple incidents of stolas looking down on blitz. From calling him blitzy, to calling him an itty bitty imp, etc.

But I think that something that maybe needs mentioning is that up until this point the two of them had an almost entirely sexual based relationship. One where the two of them ended up just giving and receiving based on what both of them thought the other wanted.

From stolas's point of view, maybe he wasn't trying to look down on him at all. Maybe he thought blitz liked it. Degradation and humiliation is a massively common kink, as well as power play and dynamics. The two of them are known to badly express their sexual needs, its very possible that stolas genuinely thought blitz liked these things. Or maybe blitz does in the bedroom and stolas didn't realise where the line was.

I think that that can entirely change the context of their actions. The fact that they've been in an, admittedly badly communicated, BDSM relationship, does change how they interact, and some of those relationships can and do blur the lines between where the metaphorical bedroom is and isn't. If they've never sat down and talked about where those lines are then they have no idea when they're crossing boundaries.

Okay. So the new ep. I was so mad about this line from Stolas I can't lie: "I didn't realize you think so low of me"

Oh really? What reasons have you given him to think highly of you Stolas? You:

A) Gave Blitz a choice between his career or having sex with you (Blitz's career also supports his daughter and the other IMP employees, their well being was on the line too). And to boot, this proposition took place while Blitz was in a high pressure scenario being hunted down by a crazy serial murderer human trying to kill him. Which Stolas was aware of and watching. He chose that moment to make his proposition and laud the grimoire over Blitz's head.

B) Constantly make weird fetishy remarks about Blitz's species/race, calling him an impish little plaything and "itty bitty". Also while being weird towards other imps too, using your butler as a stress toy and calling Moxxie, Millie and other random imps "little ones" all the time.

C) After the power imbalance of controlling his business was set up by you, you proceeded to constantly toy with Blitz despite how much he resisted and showed he clearly doesn't like it. You give him an annoying demeaning pet name he didn't ask for with the "Blitzie" shit. You make crude sexual remarks that make him uncomfortable and make them in front of others too, humiliating him in front of both strangers and people he is close to. You grab at his face condescendingly. You idly use him as an ash tray. You treat him with a completely disrespectful degrading demeanor and there is nothing he can do or say about it that will make you stop - in Loo Loo land when Blitz expresses that he does not want you to attempt to solicit sex that day from him you respond "You are so cute when you are serious" like its funny hes mad about that. All of this unwanted sexual attention is to the point Blitz has a panic button for when YOU specifically show up at his office like what else is there to say really.

D) You also treat your daughter like shit. You chase Blitz instead of focusing on her even though shes clearly very mentally ill and struggling. You make weird sexual remarks about Blitz, the guy who you're cheating on your wife with which is causing chaotic familial breakdown in the home Octavia has to live in (and Octavia KNOWS its Blitz specifically that you're cheating with she is very aware). She is clearly constantly uncomfortable and yet you put her through that several times Stolas.

Then you try to do the right thing and free Blitz. Good, great, a step in the right direction. But when hes so unused to you respecting him and thinks you must be lying you have a whiny little breakdown and storm off about it.

BUT NO WONDER BLITZ THOUGHT IT WAS SOME KIND OF FUCKING JOKE AND THEN WAS LIKE WTF YOU STUPID FUCK. Look at everything you've done holy shit! I felt Blitz's "What the fuck" in my soul. What is with this shows attempts since S2 at a weird perversion of the truth. What is with this pathetic poor me I'm just a poor widdle victim! Act from Stolas. Its just so gross its disgusting.

Stolas was born with his wealth. He was born with immense wealth, connections, authority, and physical power. He never has had to comprehend making the kinds of choices Blitz has had to in order to make rent. And Stolas actively exploited Blitz's class. He actively exploited it along with Blitz's obligations to his employees and daughter, those he loves, to get sex out of him. And then when Blitz sees him for what he is he is a self victimizing baby over it. How slimy can you get?

You know, the Stolitz scene was a trainwreck as a whole (they usually are), but what honestly got me most was the way Blitz started pleading when he thought his livelihood was going to be taken away.

THIS IS NOT A STOLAS SLANDER POST. I'm coming from a place where I've seen Blitz being mostly, if not entirely blamed for their lack of communication most of the time.

Moving on...

People keep going like "Well if imps are so low in the hierarchy..." - Let's take a break to think. Blitz isn't rich, he's just getting by really. And how is he getting by?

By prostituting himself. To the upper class.

That's what it is, he's a certified whxre. Things may have evolved in the meantime, but that's how it started. Blitz got asked for the deal while being chased by a crazy lady and him, wanting to keep his business and livelihood, said yes, obviously.

Now Stolas was suddenly taking the book back with no apparent explanation (until they got to the crystal), so of course Blitz thought he was doomed. On a side note, why couldn't Stolas say "You won't need the book, I have an alternative" instead of the ominous "I'll need the book back, permanently. I have made up my mind." I would be scared out of my mind.

He teared up immediately and started pleading, you could already see what was going through his head. He won't have the means to support his business anymore, to pay his employees, to afford a home, he'll be homeless and have no means to take care of Loona. Everyone will leave him again and he will starve on the streets all alone.

He'd do anything to be able to live a life a bit better than miserable, of course he would.

And this brings me to Stolas's treatment of Blitz. I see that everything tends to fall on Blitz, and I'm not saying he has no fault (in fact I didn't even like him at the beginning of the series too much), but Stolas treated him like a peasant. Just the episode before Ozzie's he's called him his "impish little plaything" and asked for a reward for the rescue. He put out cigarettes on his horns, he ignored his "stop" most times, he addressed him in this little baby voice with babying diminutives. "Itty bitty" imp.

And I am sure Stolas is socially clueless. He was brought up alone and sheltered, taught to be a prince first and foremost.

Stolas probably saw this as playful banter, as something that is inoffensive, silly. It was only in the Ozzie's episode that he finally saw that actually, his silly play served to make Blitz feel smaller.

And of course in this scenario, Blitz would see this coming out of the nether. He reacted quite badly, but why would this prince be actually in love with him? As he said, he needed to have a minute (or several) to think about everything. They needed to talk this out, and Blitz was about to apologize when Stolas cast him out.

They were both emotionally charged. They fucked up. But I can see Blitz's side. And the power imbalance is so evident, that hierarchy that everyone keeps saying is irrelevant - in a moment's notice, he could have his life swept from underneath him. Just like he thought it happened in that split moment; it worried him so much that he cried and pleaded (and that's not in Blitz's character to do).

And then he was so scared of not being enough too, ugh, his little "I can always do better!". He's so used to everyone just seeing him as a lost cause, better to be discarded. With this amalgamation of things, no wonder he can't believe Stolas would have feelings for him.

So uh, I don't know what the conclusion to this is. Normalize getting imps some actual comfort? So far the only really privileged imp in Helluva Boss is Fizz after getting rid of Mammon. And when I say priviledged, I'm referring to wealth and upper class, not taking into account personal issues such as disability and so forth.

Anyway, this was my two cents on Stolitz. I honestly haven't thought too much on them, I'm riding on the Fizzarolli high. I'm chill over here in my Fizzmodeus bubble, but doesn't mean I have no thoughts on Stolitz.

I think there's some misunderstanding when people get offended by the suggestion that Stolas acts classist/racist. It seems that people assume we’re implying he is malicious and intentional with it, but the actual problem is that he doesn't think.

The problematic behavior we're discussing is reflexive and internalized. Stolas was raised in an environment where the lower demon class is looked down upon, and while he believes he expresses nothing but deep respect for Blitzø and treats him as an equal…

And while you can see from this bow that this intention is sincere, which is both wonderful and fascinating—he preserved this profound gesture ever since he was a kid, despite being actively discouraged from doing so!...

He was still raised in privilege and influenced by the narratives around him. For him, it's acceptable because that's what he was taught is fine. It's part of his everyday speech, and he never actually asks Blitzø, or anyone else, how they feel about the literally belittling nicknames (like literally—do you notice how often he uses the word "little" when referring to imps?).

I mean... there's a lot, okay? I'm just going to pull out some examples off the top of my head. All of them are from Season 1, and I'll explain why later.

He also takes pride in being part of Ars Goetia. That pride seeps into his mind whether he wants it to or not. He lives in a huge palace, never worries about money, can arrange a seat in a club that’s always booked out, and gets admitted to a hospital immediately, while hellhounds wait five years for a Hellbies shot.

Most of these examples come from Season 1 because, after the disastrous Ozzie’s date, Stolas begins to unconsciously cut back on this language. He seems to sense that something is wrong, though he doesn’t fully understand why. However, he is acutely aware of the problems with the transaction and the unfair dynamics it creates, and he is serious about putting Blitzø on equal ground by providing him with the means to run his business independently of Stolas.

And still, he maintains full control over the conversation during the Full Moon meeting, immediately dismisses Blitzø after one mistake, and throws him out. He continues to impose his narrative on Blitzø and…

When have you ever indeed, Stolas? You literally look down on Blitzø saying that. This moment illustrates the problem clearly. He isn’t lying when he says he doesn’t look down on Blitzø because he genuinely believes he doesn’t.

Despite all said, Stolas is making a tremendous effort and is progressing, and he is far ahead of Stella, who is openly classist/racist and very conscious of her biases. So I believe—no, I know—he will get there one day. But not today.

This is something I take quite seriously, and I think people need to understand how dangerous this subtlety can be, as it happens all the time in real life too.

How often do you ask yourself why medical research groups are predominantly represented by white, cis, upper-middle-class males, and how this affects the efficiency of treatments suggested in these studies for everyone else—women, people of color, non-binary folks, and those who struggle financially?

How often do you visit museums and see art created by wealthy aristocrats who defined what constitutes 'fine art,' while 'folk art'—often created by marginalized communities—is overlooked and lost to time?

I could elaborate further on how deep and cruel this bias is, but I’ll stop here. I just ask you to consider why you might get offended when someone points out Stolas's subtle bigotry and why you might downplay it compared to the loud, aggressive Blitzø, whose anger and avoidant issues are obvious.

Just sit with it.

3. Flirts with Blitzo multiple times while Blitzo always responds by getting annoyed/uncomfortable

4. Patronizes Blitzo by taking out a cigarette on him, pinching his cheek, and calling him an "Itty bitty imp" in condescending baby talk

5. Coerecies Blitzo by forcing him to have sex with him in exchange for the grimoire

6. Embrassed him in front of a lot of people at the harvest festival

7. Calls him sexual nicknames that makes him uncomfortable, for example "My big dicked Blitzy"

8. Graphically describes sexually things to Blitzo while Blitzo is uncomfortable

9. Hid his face when he was seen with him at Ozzies" then apologized for it in a fucking text message

10. Wonder why he doesn't love you after everything you have done to him.

UNPOPULAR HELLUVA BOSS OPINION

I actually think Stolas calling Blitzø “Blitz” and not “Blitzy” is positive character development- HEAR ME OUT

I’m a linguist. So when I think about the addition of the -y on his name, that is known as an English diminutive, which is an affix added to a word to make the it smaller / cuter. Some examples of this are: Dog -> doggy, Cat/Kit -> Kitty, etc.

This is how we got a lot of English words like “tiny” “teensy” “baby” “stubby” “mini” “itty bitty” and more because that -y (or the -y sound) at the end indicates smallness.

When considering the political context of Helluva Boss, adding the -y to Blitz name could be seen as degrading, or emphasizing his smaller place in the world. Especially when it accompanies other nicknames that Stolas uses in season 1 like “little ones” “impish little plaything” “itty bitty imp” to refer to Blitzo and other imps. It’s like he’s constantly reminding Blitz of how small he is.

So from Blitz perspective, he could see this nickname reminding him of his “place in the world” which, in the context of the show, is “inferior.” And each time Stolas uses “Blitzy” it feels degrading and belittling.

Especially when Blitzo works so hard to fight against that box that Hell places him in. In the Harvest Moon episode, Striker tells him how it’s impressive that he started his own business, because not many Imps do that.

So these nicknames and this attitude from Stolas might also indicate him not taking Blitzo and his business seriously. His business is something we know Blitzo values above most things.

Which is why I think Blitzo hates it so much.

And thus I like when Stolas uses “Blitz” instead- I feel, from Blitzo’s perspective, it more respectful. Using his name makes it seem like Stolas really does view them as equals.

But that’s just a theory-

A helluva theory

You know what I find super baffling? Is how much emphasis is put on the cigarette on Blitz’s horn thing. Like people use it as THE evidence that Stolas doesn’t respect Blitz or imps in general and is toxic etc etc like are really fired up about it sometimes and I’ll be honest. I do not get it.

The first time I watched that scene it didn’t even register with me. Because I’m watching a show about demons in Hell. And rewatching it even trying to read it that way I can’t. Blitz uses the already lit cigarette to untie Stolas, they are obviously finishing a scene, he hands Stolas the cig wordlessly and Stolas takes a drag and puts it out. It seems very practiced,. Blitz is not visibly annoyed by Stolas doing it, his eyebrows go MUCH lower and deeper when Stolas pinches his cheeks versus when he puts the cig out. I even slowed it down, Blitz follows his movements with his eyes and his brow does go down a bit but his expression is pretty neutral. He DOES get annoyed and physically pushes Stolas away when he starts pinching his cheeks and doing the baby voice. So we see he has no issue telling Stolas he is annoyed with him or physically rebuffing him within the same minute.

The little itty bitty imp, Blitzy and other diminutive things and being dismissed or disregarded are what visibly annoy Blitz. That cigarette didn’t, not really. To be clear, I’m not saying it wasn’t annoying, I’m not even saying he wasn’t annoyed by it, nor am I saying it shouldn’t be factored into the overall Stolas is Oblivious About His Treatment of Imps, I’m saying it wasn’t like abusive or OMG. 1. Because of the context of the scene, they are in a BDSM relationship and this might be quite normal for them, they use bear traps for sex toys and in the scene they seem very comfortable and routine about it 2: This is Hell. They established fire doesn’t hurt them, Blitz doesn’t flinch or react at all. It also comes across as being a regular thing. He lights the cigarette, he takes a drag, he uses it to burn the rope and then hands it over to Stolas without a word or gesture from Stolas. They’ve done this before.

I just feel like with that particular instance too much reality is applied in the interpretation of it. Maybe it will be a big issue, maybe Blitz will bring it up in the future, but until that happens I default to how the characters react, how it is handled with other actions, and what is going on in the scene and what I saw was maybe slight annoyance, but much more for the baby talk and cheek pinching, by two demons in hell in a BDSM relationship.

It’s fine if you see it differently, but the hand wringing is what confuses me. These aren’t real people, it’s not the real world and these things can have different implications with the world especially considering the context of the scene and their relationship at that point and that Blitz did feel comfortable enough, within the same scene, to brush Stolas off and rebuff him for his behavior.

Friends I have seen people saying Stolas saying he never saw Blitzø as less is a lie since he called him - for example- “an itty bitty imp” before and I think I’m gonna have to defend the owl on that.

I think Stolas could have been honest and he said those things and those two things both co-exist without it beeing a retcon.

Like..full stop: those things he said were condescending and kinda fucked considering the power dynamic and NOBODY would blame blitzø for perceiving them as such. It absolutely is something that would make you feel lesser.

But I don’t think Stolas registered that..at least not at the time.

We have seen his family, they all see Imps as basically pets (I remember one hell-born with an imp in their purse..like a dog). Stella throws them around like fucking furniture. I don’t think Stolas sees them as such, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he picked up some mannerisms from them. Like..when I was much younger, I picked up the word “twink” from the internet. (I’m not a native speaker) I used it indiscriminately on every non-muscular man I could find. Only later was I informed that it was actually meant to describe a non-muscular, gay man. Not to mention I pick up slang from my friend circle all the time. (Granted, my friends are not arrogant aristocrats who deny a certain group of people their personhood.)

Is it so difficult to imagine that even though he is very much not in line with his family’s beliefs, Stolas picked up a mannerism or two he never reflected on?

Not to mention, that this is presumably his first relationship (Stella doesn’t count) so he is probably still figuring out how to even talk with a lover and he seems to get his pointers from rom coms and soap operas.

It’s absolutely still fucked to be sure and this is no excuse. He should absolutely cut that kind of behaviour out if he wants anything good to come out of this (and just ethically for the matter), though I think the full moon episode has shown that he has realised how much the power imbalance dictates their relationship and is already making good on that.

But my point is..Stolas absolutely could never have seen Blitzø as less and he still could have made some condescending and belittling remarks. It doesn’t have to be a retcon.

It’s a character flaw of his. He doesn’t realize how some of his words come across (not just here.) A very intended flaw. It’s a point.

Also yes. Stolas is 100% stronger than Blitzø and the idea of him expecting Blitzø to protect him is a bit preposterous. However, I don’t think Stolas wants protection because he thinks himself weak. I think he just wants to see Blitzø showing that he cares. Or even, in the Striker case, just communicating. Stolas thought that, no matter what their relationship was, Blitzø at least cared enough to not want him dead. Which, to be honest, is a really really low bar. I certainly don’t want even the people I hate most dead.

i feel like it's important to make a distinction that I haven't really seen being made.

While Stolas's actions are hypocritical, Stolas himself is not a hypocrite.

I've seen so many videos and rants with titles along the lines of "Stolas being a hypocrite" and I'm tired of it. In order for Stolas to be a hypocrite he would have to have some level of consciousness for his hypocritical actions. I'm the first to say Stolas has fucked up just as much as Blitzø has, just look at my previous posts. But he is not a hypocrite. He truly, honestly, wholeheartedly thinks that the way he acted towards Blitzø was an adequate representation of his genuine romantic feelings, while not at all being aware of the innate power imbalance of their relationship and his deeply rooted classism towards imps in general.

For instance, Stolas telling Blitzø that he has never looked down on him, while there are scenes like the ones where he calls him an "impish little plaything" or an "itty bitty imp", is without a doubt hypocritical, but Stolas has no consciousness of it, in his mind, he genuinely thinks he never looked down on Blitzø and that's what he needs to put in work to realize. For me, the hypocritical things he's done and said do not classify him as a hypocrite because he was always, always, blissfully unaware.

Something that I'd like to comment about Stolas's internalized racism/classism (which he needs to improve and it's absolutely justifiable to call him out for it, as long as you're not lying about him or ignoring the development/sincerity he already has), that I've never seen anyone talking about is how Blitz never educates him when he feels offended, which I understand, it's not Blitz's job to educade anyone, Stolas should do that by himself, BUT, honestly if I was Blitz the first time Stolas called me "itty bitty imp" or something like that I'd yell the loudest "FUCK YOU ASSHOLE"

And then he'd cry and I would feel bad but still, he had it coming

Controversial opinion: I don't like Stolas and I don't want stolitz to become a relationship

Neither of them are 100% in the right, I know that, this isn't because I love Blitz, I don't really care, but Stolas has always got on my nerves. First he makes a sex deal with a guy while he can clearly see he's running for his life and not into it. The deal is the only way Blitz can do his job, that's sexual coercion! Don't believe me? Here's the definition:

"Sexual coercion is unwanted sexual activity that happens when you are pressured, tricked, threatened, or forced in a nonphysical way. Coercion can make you think you owe sex to someone. It might be from someone who has power over you, like a teacher, landlord, or a boss."

Stolas doesn't see it this way but in the beginning of course blitz did and why wouldn't he? It doesn't matter if it was consensual, Stolas has power over him so he'd assume he owes it, he even shows this mindset in full moon where he thinks Stolas is taking the book because he wasn't satisfying him.

Stolas was constantly calling him degrading names too "my little imp" -murder family "my little impish plaything" -truth seekers "itty bitty imps like yourself" -harvest festival(? Don't remember the title) "little creatures" -looloo land. The argument is he didn't mean it as an insult and that's true, he didn't even mean the deal as manipulation, but that doesn't change how it made blitz feel, blitz isn't the type to open up to someone and say 'hey that hurts my feelings ' if stolas really liked him he should have noticed the reactions. He hates it every time, pushing away, changing the subject, you can't be that stupid. You can say stolas was raised this way and yes he was but again how is that blitz's problem? He can be treated disrespectfully because stolas has a shitty parent? So did he.

Let's not forget how he acted at Ozzie's too, when he was called out for being on a date with an imp he hid behind his menu like blitz is an embarrassment, he publicly humiliated him instead of taking up for him, hence why Ozzie and fizz are so much better, they would never. And then Stolas is all sad like "why didn't he wanna cuddle? :(" idk maybe because you reinforced he's worthless in public

And then it's revealed they haven't been doing their deal for a while because stolas feels guilty and it's about time, he should have realized forcing someone to have sex with you to do their job is wrong immediately. When he tells blitz he does it in the worst way possible, he doesn't fully explain why he's taking the book first and that makes blitz panic, and then all the sudden he's confessing his love, what did he think would happen?

They have this huge argument where people say stolas has a trauma response from yelling even though he's never flinched at Stella and wasn't afraid of her, every time she yelled or threw something he just looked dead inside instead of frightened, that's a normal response too, what I'm saying is in that moment he wasn't afraid of blitz at all and even if he was how is that blitz's fault? It was an impulsive reaction not a planned thing to play on someone's trauma

"I think so highly of you, I didn't know you thought so low of me" Stolas says crying, how? And it's not thinking low, it's thinking you think so low, "treating me like one of your little imp servants" he was?? If someone is telling you you did something that hurt them you should apologize instead of making it about yourself, save your crying for when you apologize like "oh my God i did that? I'm so sorry, i didn't mean to, I don't look down on you I promise, I didn't realize " and boom we're slightly better!

"When have I ever looked down on you?" Everything before the deal break where you suddenly try to be better without apologizing and blitz doesn't understand, and the thing about blitz abandoning him with striker, he says blitz sounds like striker, don't do that wtf, you're making someone for guilty for taking their daughter to the doctor? Not everyone is a shitty dad who uses their child as an excuse to sexually and publicity flirt with the guy you're cheating on her mom with. You do not get to make him feel guilty for sending his work to do it while he comforts his scared child

Stolas refuses to acknowledge his own faults aside from the one with the deal, there's too much damage between to be a proper relationship, they shouldn't be endgame but you just know they will be somehow
