I love this thing, it looks scary, and its lore is even scarier. Its “ice cream” is the melted flesh of its prey, and thus feels a constant, undying hunger to keep itself alive and replenish itself.

The fact that no one ever talks about neither Grifty nor Lumpy is just astonishing to me. The best character designs in the game, right there.

I really love your Hunt comic because like.

Look. It’s only an inspiration and these are completely different characters with completely different stories. I know you have a your own story in mind you want to tell too, which is why I’m excited, because I don’t know what’s gonna happen in this trip and am looking forward to finding out.

But also. I watched Moral Orel before. And even knowing that things will be different simply because these are different characters, there is an unmeasurable Dread in my stomach. Because I Know what could happen. I Know what something like this could go, what it could mean.

And it is so interesting to have that shadow over me each chapter; and it really adds to the experience jdfj.

Omg.. this took me a couple of days to respond to because I keep getting giddy and emotional every time I read your ask.

I'm glad you're enjoying where the comic is going. This is my first time really attempting a long form comic, I've mainly done mini and one-off comics before this and is so tiring but so worth it!

A lot of people have picked up that it is loosely based on the Morel Orel episode "Nature," and I love seeing everyone's theories and reactions and what they think is going to happen next. It honestly takes a lot for me not to just ramble on about the actual answer before we get to it, especially when people are close but still incorrect. Though that means I'm laying the crumbs out correctly.

(My fave thing is replying "interesting:)))" to people's theories and them or others being like: "You're giving him ideas!" and I giggle to myself since the end story's end has been planned from the beginning. I'm just stockpiling their ideas for future comics, hehe)

I am slightly worried since it's taken so long to get to the actual trip part of the hunt that it won't live up to the hype/expectations. But all I can do is hope it does and try my best.

I actually haven't watched Morel Orel at all—I got this from an animatic that was also inspired by the Nature episode—the most I done was watch a scene when I was coming up with ideas for what story I wanted and one video essay on the show, and that's it.

But what you're talking about is a good example of Alfred Hitchcock's filmmaking philosophy about suspense. "If you put a hidden bomb under the table and it explodes, the audience will be surprised. But if you tell them that the bomb will go off fifteen minutes from now, the effect will be more impactful because the dread of waiting for it to finally go off" or at least something like that. But in your case, you know what happens in Morel Orel, and you know it could be similar in the comic. So you're waiting to see if it'll actually happen or if something else will happen.

This is a long way of saying, "Thank you for enjoying my comic;" and that goes to everyone reading. I probably would still be doing the story anyway regardless of how much attention it got, but it's nice to see it and all my hard work be appreciated.

GUH RED RED RED I LOVE HER SO MUCH, UH MEET RED THE MEORLARK, SHE'S EVERYTHING TO ME

Eyeless, born without eyes, Red's strongest trait is her sense of smell and feeling, she discerns her surroundings via scent and head/muzzle bonking [Specifically her Taurolystris partner, Blue]

Meorlark's normally don't get attached to their young, they name them standard simple things, Red was named after her coat color. Red however broke this cycle of disregarding litters and gave her all to protecting and loving her own offspring as a result.

Red lost the majority of her first litter to a violent Venuella, she ended up snatching up the only surviving kit and fleeing with Blue to safety, the entire ordeal made her extremely protective of not only her surviving kit, but her future offspring.

Children: 2 unnamed kits [Died being crushed by a rampaging Venuella] Akeko [First Son - Alive - Lived to adulthood], Alabaster [Albino - Deceased - Died of disease from rotten food], Allum and Beru [Third Daughter and Son - Deceased - Stillborn], Karumi [Fourth Daughter - Stillborn], Azure [Fifth Son - Alive - Named After Blue - Survived To Adulthood], Carmine [Sixth Daughter - Deceased - Survived to adulthood], Yulum [Seventh Son - Deceased- Stillborn], Purple [Eighth Child - Nonbinary - Deceased - Murdered but also was questionably evil], Jabble [Ninth Son - Alive - Named after a friendly Jabblebashhe and survived to adulthood], Salmon [Tenth Son - Alive - Survied to Adulthood], Talu [Eleventh Daughter - Deceased - Birth Complications], Arulo [Twelvth Son - Alive - Survived To Adulthood], Kruma [Thirteenth Daughter - Alive - Final Child]

Fun facts: Red is dead set on the belief that Alabaster is still alive and often copes with her grief by saying so, she's adamant that her daughter is perfectly fine despite her obvious death.

Akeko contracted the same illness that killed his younger sister, but ended up surviving after a serious death scare, he was briefly paralyzed but recovered well.

Akeko was one of her most productive children.

Her daughter, Carmine, went off on her own at a young age despite Blue's attempts at keeping her close to the family, while she reached adulthood, she still ended up dying due to her own recklessness, a trait of which she picked up from her mother. She left behind a daughter who weaved back into the family via Blue bringing her home.

Purple was an odd child, the first thing they did when they were born was bite, and it didn't stop as they aged. I wasn't long before this aggressive habit got them killed, nobody in the family mentions Purple. They try to forget. Red and Blue are both happily living in their old age, while still adventuring, they've had enough of raising children for one lifetime and want some time to themselves, a trip around the islands could do them good.

Red had a habit of throwing herself into fights she shouldn't, due to her blindness, she's extremely defensive, and she's not above attacking anything that she thinks slights her or someone she cares about. This has led to multiple near-death experiences, the large scar on her chest is proof of that.

She absolutely despises her extended kin, her littermates aren't exactly the best individuals and after one visit, she'd decided she never wanted to see them again, which was probably for the best.

Paper Mario TTYD roleswap AU

hypothetical drivel I'm putting here for funnies- pretty cut and dry, basically an alternate universe similar to the ones I've seen for Super Paper Mario, except all the party members swapped their roles while retaining their personalities

the AU is gonna include Hudson due to the uneven amount of party members, so I'm sorry, ppl cannot escape the 🐝

Peach <--> Mario

Actually no real changes to their character here, other than Mario being the kidnapped one that gets used as a vessel by the X-Nauts. Allows for more interaction since Peach isn't stuck with the "silent protagonist" curse.

Koops <--> Goombella

Koops is a meek explorer following in the foot steps of Kolorado. His father lives in Rogueport and often tells tales about the Crystal Stars, which encouraged him to go ask around.

Goombella is a spunky heroine who wants to save her old teacher, Professor Frankly, who went missing after touring a class near the castle in Petal Meadows. (the dragons all switched places in this)

Mini-Yoshi <--> Flurrie

Mini was an egg found by Jabbis, hatched and raised in Boggly Woods. He's very aggressive toward anyone who wants to harm his adoptive family, so he's pretty pissed off when he learns the X-Nauts allied themselves with the Punies. (Jabbies and Punies switched places here too, but Punio and Jabble are still friends)

Flurrie is a former wrestler from the Glitz Pit who retired, but had the spark reignited in her when she learned about the "identity thefts" happening. After which, she reenters the spotlight and travels with Peach, inspired by how tough she is under her ladylike demeanor.

Bobbery <--> Vivian

Bobbery is a grave keeper living in Twilight Town. There is a curse that drains the life energy of just about everyone in the village, thanks to a monster living in the Creepy Steeple. He hasn't left his hut ever since his wife's passing, but after seeing Peach's plight, comes out of his shell to aid the Princess who lost all her allies to the curse.

Vivian is a Shadow Siren with a heavy emphasis on the "siren" part. She uses water magic to crash the ship that Peach and the others are traveling on, in order to guard Keelhaul Key. She changes her mind later on, unable to tolerate her sisters cruelty toward others.

Ms. Mowz <--> Hudson

Ms. Mowz is an actress who starred in films adapting romance novels. She was waiting for her next big hit playing in Poshley Heights when she saw shenanigans happening on the Excess Express, and noted that Zip Toad was acting strangely.

Hudson is the infamous "Honey Syrup Thief", a bumbling burglar who is wanted throughout Rogueport. She has her own shop when she's not playing the role of thief, where she supplies ingredients to others… the X-Nauts are usually her most frequent target.

Grodus <--> Crump

Lord Grodus is the second in command of the X-Nauts, his body mostly consisting of cybernetics, which he can use to attach himself to robotic creations. Compared to his leader and the other minions, he's overly serious and ambitious. He doesn't stand for his own failures.

Sir Crump is the leader of the X-Nauts, but is strangely laid back. He makes it pretty clear to Mario that he wants to use him as a vessel to take over the world, rather than hiding it from him.

Beldam <--> Marilyn

Largely the same, but their abilities have swapped (ice and lightning) and Marilyn uses her large stature to push Beldam around, who is nothing more than a sniveling snitch and a coward instead of a scheming manipulator.

They also have no ties to the X-Nauts, unlike the original game.

Doopliss <--> Grubba

Doopliss is a Duplighost who thinks identity theft is so cool that he's going to steal the abilities of the strongest wrestlers in the Glitz Pit after imprisoning them.

Grubba meanwhile, is a Spike who drains the essence of everyone living in Twilight Town for the sake of keeping his youth.

Neither Doopliss nor Grubba join forces with the Shadow Sirens after they are defeated and Vivian abandons, due to their parts in the story. Instead, Sir Crump willingly hires the two of them to work with Grodus after learning what happened in their encounters with Princess Peach.

Luigi <--> Bowser

Luigi is now the one with random intermissions, trying to locate his brother.

Bowser goes on his own adventure with party member partners and rather than kidnapping Peach, tells her everything that has been going on… well, his twisted version of events, at least…

idk what to do with Flavio and Rawk Hawk, maybe we'll make them switch places /j

or they can stay as they are since they are fan favorites
