they were handed a pack pf jellies. "this one — it's mine." heeseung said , explaining. "there was a time when this a trend in korea , i wanted to eat it at that time, but i couldn't eat it often cause of the price."

"you have to poke it with toothpics." jake said. "what happens if you don't?" she asked , he then processed to make a choking sound. "oh , oh wow."

they cut the jellies , passing them around. she picked up the jelly with the chopsticks to take a bite. "it's a lot." she said her mouth stuffed. "Yah." sunghoon covered her mouth. "it's good though."

next was the jagabee chips that jungwon picked. "they're my favorite snack." He said. "jaga means potato and bee snack in japanese."

"these are popular in korea." she said taking a bite of the chips. "despite being a japanese snack. "they're good."

after trying jungwons snack it was on to it was jays pick. "cinnabon cereal, it was my favorite childhood snack." they handed them each a bowl.

"it's sweet." she took a bite. "too sweet." she cringed. "i don't really like things that are too sweet , but this is okay, maybe like one time every blue moon." she said.

next it was jakes pick. "a ham and cheese toastie , with barbecue sauce." she turned to him. "barbecue sauce?" she furrowed her eyes brows.

"aren't you supposed to eat these with tomatoe soup?" she questioned. "barbecue sauce is the bed." jake said. "try it."

"when i was was a kid, my mom used to make them with tomatoe soup." she said dipping it in the brown sauce, taking a small bite. "it's okay."

"i don't really like barbecue sauce."

they moved on the next snack. "natto."

"i don't really enjoy this one." she said opting not to eat it.

but she did eat the next one that was mint chocolate chip ice cream that sunoo picked. "they're mint chocolate chip haters."

"it's like brushing your teeth." she rolled her eyes. "everyone who hates it says that, this is also another either you love it or hate it." she said taking another bite. "I love it."

"here's mines." they handed them each a ferrero roche. "these are the best chocolates in the world."

"i ate these as a kid only someone , because they were expensive and my mother didn't agree with paying that much for candy." she opened the wrapper.

"they're good." jungwon said. "they are , i can eat as many as i want now." she said. "i don't eat a lot though , because then you get sick."

lastly it was ni-ki and he chose milk tea. "I love this!" they handed them each a cup , while ni-ki explained.

she took a sip of the drink. "it's not too sweet." she said. "i like it."

Huge sculptures that were at the Moomin market

And now... to show off my plunder! like a dragon, I'm proud of my hoard >:D Here we have some Snufkin and Little My gacha figures, and the fishing figurine I got at Nakano broadway. Also stickers, the 5th anniversary pin, and a Little My keychain which I bought because it has my birthday on it. You can see the story guide everyone gets at the park too. Oh, and Moomin Jagabee buhahaha

(by the way, I don't know where else to mention, but one merch I didn't buy and didn't get a pic of was this big, looooong, hattifattener-themed baum cake! It was huge and hilarious, wish I got a pic)

I knew it was stupid to buy this print when you can easily find just about any of them online and print them yourself. But I just couldn't resist this image, I really liked it. Next is a Moominpappa gacha, the magnet I got at the market, and one of those pressed coin thingies.

My favorite of all though is the umbrella keychain. It exists to celebrate the umbrella decorations of course. But nothing could be more appropriate to commemorate my extremely rainy Moominvalley Park adventure.

Sweets and Snacks review Fall 2023

Crunky cookie ball: These are cookie balls covered in chocolate. 9/10

Mini daifuku: These are bite sized red bean mochi. The mochi is so soft and chewy and the red bean is smooth and not too sweet. 10/10 

Yakiimo (sweet potato): These are a special type of Japanese sweet potato that are sold in fall/ winter time. They are kept warm on hot rocks and you can eat it by itself. You can buy it at the convenience store or supermarket!

Tricolor dango: I usually eat one of these when I come home from work in order to muster the mental fortitude to do the dishes. It's also mochi- made with sweet rice flour. Dango comes in a lot of different varieties but the tricolor one is the most recognizable I think and it's also my favorite. 9/10

Jagabee potato chips: These are potato chips shaped like french fries. They are really crunchy. They're really addicting and I could easily eat 2 bags. I've tried both the 'happiness butter' flavor and the lightly salted. Both are great and the lightly salted tastes exactly like french fries. 10/10

Milk paste buns: These are small pastry buns filled with a sweet “milk” paste. It does not taste like milk, it's more of a sweet/ slightly creamy taste. I first tried these in 2019 and then never saw them again and thought I hallucinated them for a bit, so I was glad to see them. They're really good and I have not had any other dessert quite like it. I only see them at 7/11 just as a FYI. 10/10

Alfort chocolate biscuits: This is my favorite candy bar in Japan. Chocolate tastes different here than in the states but it's really good. It comes as like 12 small cookie biscuits with chocolate on top. They come in a bunch of different varieties including strawberry, double chocolate, vanilla, and butter. The original is the best though. I buy one pretty much every time I enter familymart. (no picture sorry) 11/10

Sesame crackers: I buy these at the grocery store to put in my lunch everyday. They come in packs of two crackers. It's made with sesame and I could eat like 10 in one sitting if I tried. (also no picture but just trust me) 10/10

Hiyori also helped herself to some of Love’s jagabee crisps before perching down beside him and animatedly explaining what and how she wanted to bring about romance in her friends’ lives. As well as, perhaps her own. Love was named after Love, he must know a few things.

“They absolutely want the help,” she nodded stoicly. “I mean… if they come to ME for advice, they’re pretty damn desperate.”

After all, she had only dated 1 guy and married that 1 guy. Her experience was based on this 1 person she has loved her entire life. And even that love… was not faring so well right now. She tried not to squirm in guilt about it and instead, zeroed in with what he was saying.

“Yeah… I mean, it ain’t like my friends don’t know each other. But yer right. I s'pose the most I can do right now is just, reassure and cheer 'em on. Though… Love, what does gentling handling look like? What sorta words would ya say?”

He relaxed a little once he noticed his friend taking to sharing snacks, he didn't mind one bit, there was more than enough and it signaled to him that she was feeling comfortable, plus they were damn good so he couldn't blame her. Instead he took to grabbing another handful for himself, snacking while listening.

A noticeable smirk formed at her remarks.

"I see, guess you got a point there." He added through a light laugh.

"Sounds like they'd actually be open to some suggestions and advice. In that case, guess I better explain what I meant by handle gently."

He wasn't sure how this next part would go over with the rambuncious, haste-prone blonde but he was about to do what he could to help out. Her friends were his friends, afterall.

"Gentle handling, that's when you apply a lot of attention and care to something that you wouldn't want to break. Y'see, the same way something physical can be fragile, it can also be that way when it comes to situations between people. Especially when emotions get involved."

Thinking about it now, emotions sort of reminded him of kido training. The energies seem like some invisible and often elusive force but once that balance is found things flow with ease. If it came to it, he'd use that analogy later.

"As long as we take some precaution and understand how delicate things might be, I think we can get some of those sparks flying, for sure." He nodded and chomped another crisp.

"I'd say it'd be best to take it slow. Instead of bringing up the past right away maybe allow things like memories to rise organically as they begin to spend more time together. And I wouldn't recommend that they go on dates to places that hold bad memories right away. Could spell disaster! Saw it happen in a romance manga once."
