Little update on Mikhail's tank~
Tumblr media
The dwarf sagittaria that was pretty much brown shoots had bounced back after root tabs were placed under them. Hopefully, there will be a carpet again soon! The cryptocoryne wendtii went through a bit of a melt and lost the majority of its old leaves, but new ones are growing, so that's good!
Tumblr media
The vallisneria asiatica is doing fine. It's sending out new leaves that are spreading across the surface, and we have one new runner~
Tumblr media
The anubias has a new leaf, but without snails in the tank, they're suffering from detritus and algae. I rub them off periodically, but it just comes back.
Tumblr media
The Java fern just up and melted right back, which is a shame because it was bright and healthy when I put it in here, and it takes so long for them to get to that size. At least for me. So I think I'm going to put it back in the tank I got it from and put something else there. I'm not really sure what though tbh.
Anyways I thought I would also show Mikhail's reaction to me taking photos of the tank. I bet some of you can already guess what he thought lol

Once he got over trying to fight the camera, I did get this nice one of him.

Pretty boy~
I wanted to get a shot of the floating plants in here, so I opened the food hatch and instead was met with this.

I did a thing.
I got plant weights.
I also said FUCK IT and put the new plants that came today in the snail tank (RIGHT).
I have way too big of a headache to plant and scape today so I literally just weighted my plants and sunk em like a bad monster. Fergus' tank looks fucking ridiculous, maybe I'll scape it later but tbh he likes exploring his plants jungle the messier it looks so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I got this shit going on in fergus' tank.
I'm pretty sure my java is invading my tank. I'm so excited.
I also have these new floater stem things that I have no idea what they are. May be my dwarf grass??
Anyway. Tanks update!

The pothos growing out the top of my tank has been growing like crazy and it really inspired me to try live plants again. We are not going to get frustrated and give up this time folks.
This time plants are going to go well and I’m going to love it so much and eventually I’m going to go back to sand on the bottom because I love the look of that so much. Otto’s little foot prints in the sand meant everything to me.

Little update on Caius's tank~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was told by a few people to add bacopa to the back and had been thinking about it myself, so I went and tried again with some bigger clippings. Also pushed them into the substrate deeper than last time to see if that makes a difference. Hopefully, we'll get some growth, and it'll block out the black back!
Tumblr media
Stuffed some more baby Java ferns down the back of the dragon stone to try and get some more green in the back.
Tumblr media
Also, I took an anubias from one of my other tanks and put it right in the center of the three rocks. I felt like it needed something in the middle there, and someone had suggested I should put a bigger anubias in here, so... voila! Caius seems to like it at least~
What do you think of the changes?

the dwarf lilies have kinda declined in growth so im being diligent with fertilizing the tank and making sure there's not too many floating plants taking up all the light

Second water swap to try to clear up the cloudy water, lower nitrate levels after adding 12 ghost shrimp, an albino plecostomus, and 3 diamond tetras yesterday
Tumblr media
Tank total:
•1 white skirt tetra, 4 black skirt tetra, 3 neon tetra, 3 diamond tetra, 12 ghost shrimp, 1 plecostomus, 1 blue mystery snail
•English ivy (added today), java plant, aquatic fern
Letting the new filter do its work for a few days, if the water is still cloudy then we’ll chalk it up to bacteria bloom which should clear up in a few days. Hoping to take some solid progress pictures 😬

does anyone have betta light recommendations? i need a small LED one for the 5gal to try growing a few easy plants. the lid is solid black so it either needs to be a submersible light, or i gotta get a new lid too. id like one with a timer to turn on and off so that it'll be consistent. i was looking at petsmart yesterday but there weren't many to choose from.
