Melo Movie

This series made me smile, laugh and cry. It has a little bit of everything and I just fell in love with its characters. They were all trying to live, move on and find their place. It was sweet and realistic, validating those relationships that will always live in our hearts but that can't come back. . . Those friendships and family relations that are forever. . .
I really loved it. . .

PARASSYTE : THE GREY // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 7,3 Benim puanım: 8
Drama: Parasyte: The Grey
Hangul:
Director: Yeon Sang-Ho
Writer: Hitoshi Iwaaki (manga), Yeon Sang-Ho
Episodes: 6
Date: 2024
Cast: Jeon So-Nee, Koo Kyo-Hwan, Lee Jung-Hyun, Kwon Hae-Hyo, Yoon Hyun-Gil, Kim In-Kwon
Son olarak, Parasyte: The Grey, dünya çapında tanınan Japon mangası Parasyte’tan esinlenmiş olsada, kendi kimliğini oluşturmayı başarıyor.
While watching this drama, I found myself wrapped in a mixture of curiosity and unease. It’s a deeply impactful production—both in how it builds a dystopian atmosphere and how it confronts the darkest aspects of human nature. The show gives off a chilling sense of foresight by reflecting the dead-end roads of current technological and scientific progress.
As the title suggests, the story revolves around a war against parasites that invade the human body and take control of the mind. One of our main characters, Jeong Su-in (Jeon So-nee), is introduced as a cool-headed scientist who tries to maintain a rational perspective. What makes her so compelling is her ability to approach terrifying events with logic rather than pure panic. But even her reason is pushed to its limits as the parasite outbreak intensifies and the threat of losing humanity looms closer.
On the other side, we have Seol Kang-woo (Koo Kyo-hwan), a character driven more by emotion and rebellion. His approach highlights that this isn't just scientific chaos—it’s also a profound moral reckoning. His rawness contrasts sharply with Su-in’s analytical mindset, which brings a compelling duality to the narrative.
The atmosphere of the show is outstanding. The cinematography paints a bleak and hopeless future while allowing the audience to truly feel the collapse of the world. Set design and production serve the dark storyline perfectly. The scenes where parasites reveal themselves and take over human bodies are especially bone-chilling.
However, the slow pacing might be a downside for some viewers. The narrative can feel a bit stagnant at times, but this slowness actually gives space to fully grasp the characters’ struggles and the ethical dilemmas humanity faces. That’s where the real strength of the show lies—it conveys fear, horror, and helplessness not just through visuals, but with profound emotional impact.
As for the performances, both Jeon So-nee and Koo Kyo-hwan were striking. Jeon So-nee brings a depth and humanity to Jeong Su-in that turns her from a mere scientist into someone the viewer can empathize with. Koo Kyo-hwan adds vitality and complexity to Kang-woo, and their chemistry is one of the key factors that balances out the show’s sometimes slow rhythm.
Finally, Parasyte: The Grey—although inspired by the globally known Japanese manga Parasyte—successfully builds its own identity. Adaptations of manga often face criticism for failing to capture the magic of the original work. But this series manages to stay faithful to its source while also crafting an original narrative.
Overall, Parasyte: The Grey is a strong recommendation for fans of science fiction and horror. It may not appeal to everyone, but for those who enjoy dystopian storytelling and layered moral questions, it’s definitely a must-watch.

I really went into this show thinking I will just watch it cause I'm bored right now. its only 10 episodes anyway, it'll be the same plot points and climax as all the other classic k-dramas I've watched. This always turns out to be the way I discover some hidden gem of a show or movie.
my rating: 10/10
enjoyment rating: 10/10
-passionate rant about this show below the line if anyones interested-
This was the kind of show that left me to sit there for a while. I spent a while sobbing for an episode and a half and then i yelled and screamed at the characters, first out of excitement, and second out of understanding frustrations. I related a bit to all of the characters in one way or another. One of my favourite lines was by Mubee, "He spent time with me like I was homework he needed to catch up on."
I loved all the characters at least a little bit. There were no antogonists in this show, which really fit the show and writing. The. plot moved in a very well paced manner. It was moved forward when needed, it was slowed down when felt right, and it even did things I didn't like at the right times. So, as for every other show I have loved and rewatched and uncountable amount I will say the same thing for this show, It was very human. I say this often about the shows I enjoy and I can't even say I know how to describe it very well. Then again it was my choice to write about this show so I will do that. The characters were all different from each other. They all had their own personalities, that had the good and the bad. This is so that you can't really hate any of the characters because they have their redeeming factors. Like how Mubee said to Ko Gyum that she didn't want to know more about him because then she would fall for him. (or smth similar I'm spam writing this so I'm not going to check the actualy quote) So, yes, I could find a reason to hate about every single one of the characters in this show but at the same time I can also find so many good things about each character. This is because the screen writing and the story was moved in that way to portray all the characters in a realistic light. I love this every time I find a show like this because I feel that there are a lot of kdramas and movies that I really love but at the same time I can see how unrealistic the characters are despite the efforts of portraying them as realistic and I think this is because they made the characters likeable and so that the viewers would be able to idolize them and fantasize about them in a way. This is of course what sells because who wants to watch a realistic shows all the time because we are constantly surrounded by real life. However, all this being said, I still enjoy these realistic type characters as they remind me that even while having unlikeable traits that isn't what makes you you, nor will everyone always view you the same way, and it's nice to see traits of yourself in characters on screen in a realistic and not exaggerated way and still be loved and appreciated. So, shoutout to the writer and director, Lee Na-eun and Oh Chang-hwan.
This wraps up my very long and passionate rant about this show and why I liked it. Thank you for sticking along for the ride. XOXO.
