Reached the Hellions' death in my xmen reread so now it's time to post every outfit worn by every dead Hellion prior to their death!

Starting off with the later additions to the team, Beef and Bevatron. The only time we see either of them out of uniform is the issue where they both die and they are both wearing nondescript suits. Bevatron's suit only appears in the background and not coloured in.

Next up we have Jetstream, who has a grand total of 6 outfits worn out of uniform.

The December Coup

December 1, 1989

The December Coup was the biggest coup to ever hit the Republic of the Philippines. Around 3,000 elite Philippine Marines, Scout Rangers, and other Armed Forces personnel took part in the coup that attempted to overthrow the administration at the time. In the initial day of the coup, rebel forces not only managed to secure armor and groudn attack aircraft, but also captured important military facilities. The National Capital Region and many of the surrounding areas thus became a battlefield for several days, as loyalist soldiers held their ground against the rebelious troops. In the end, government forces won, but not after heavy casualties and losses in equipment.

What inspired you to make your Pegasus oc?

But I’ll answer for both! (Also yeah I have more pegasus ocs but like… these are the main two lol)

Personally the idea of flying is really interesting to me and I have a huge love for birds so it was an easy decision to make my ponysonas pegasi. Playing off that further though, both JetStream and FairChild were based off my favorite birds when they were created.

JetStream was supposed to be my ponysona back around 2014 and as such she was based off the osprey as well as my interests at that time (being aircraft- wanted to join the Air Force). She was also heavily influenced by my friends and favorite artists back then! She is a pegasus because I wanted to fly and because the idea of a pony that operated like an attack plane was interesting to me. FairChild on the other hand is based off the red shoulder hawk as well as my favorite pattern on a horse- being a buckskin paint- with details being added to represent my other characteristics. She’s very much just supposed to be me so I made her to look like some of my favorite animals. I still feel that the best pony races to use for myself are the ones that can fly, something about my feral energy works well with it!

I've talked recently, over on Twitter, about Sunspot & Monet St. Croix suffering from X-Men artists' inconsistent melanin portrayals, but Jetstream caught my eye on the TL & I can't help but recall times he's been done wrong, too.

For those who don't know him (probably most of you), he's a member of Emma Frost's original 80s-era Hellions team, a mutant w/ powers similar to those of Cannonball (except wasn't immune to his own powers, so he needed cybernetic enhancements to survive the blasting propulsion of flight).

OG concept: he's "a Moor [ie Shakespeare's Othello] & a Berber". And yet, over the years:

I'm no expert on Berbers or Moors, but (based on admittedly basic preliminary searching) while there isn't enough concrete evidence to claim MOST/ALL Berbers or Moors are Black, there's DEFINITELY enough evidence to claim SOME are & that Jetstream of Marvel's OG mutant Hellions was supposed to be among them.

🧐 As best I can tell, Jetstream (in his original concept) is a Black (🤔 AND Arab?) Moroccan, Muslim mutant.

I know the X-Men (& Marvel) aren't the only ones w/ a record of inconsistent melanin portrayals, but that doesn't make it less of a big deal. Respectful rep matters! 🥺
