Busch Gardens Tampa has announced their new Wild Oasis realm located in the Jungala section of the park! I think the kids and family area there was due for a much needed update. What are your thoughts?

I miss being a little girl and putting my feet on top of my dad’s so he can walk while I hugged him. I miss that joy. I miss climbing on the rocks in Central Park and feeding the horses carrots. I miss the tulips in my neighbor’s yard and the caterpillars on the tomato plants and the pansies planted around the bird bath. I miss the sunflowers taller than me. I miss the intricate wrought iron railing with filigree. I miss the wooden chest with fish shaped brass handles that flipped up and down. I miss my giant, empty, carpeted room and scratchy blue heated blanket. I miss the sound of the motor humming and clicking from my favorite nightlight. I miss playing in the park next to the elementary school across from my house. I miss the frost on the steel bars that stung my skin. I miss the cold tile in the kitchen and the broken clock above the dining room table. I miss the corded phone that was always tangled and the screen door that never closed just right. I miss footy pajamas and sliding down the carpeted stairs on my butt and crashing into the coat closet at the bottom. I miss the scary basement. I miss watching the sun set over the Brooklyn bridge. I miss Fergus scratching up my legs when I’d get home. I miss sitting in the back of an airport terminal tram while the sun rises. I miss the bumps of a plane landing and the ding before a pilot’s announcement. I miss yawning to pop my ears during take off and that momentary feeling of falling when the plane wheels leave the runway. I miss the silent dark car rides home with only the glow of the buttons to light up the car’s interior. I miss the strange carpet in the Tampa International baggage claim with its rows and rows of empty carousels. I miss those little curled leaves that crunch when you step on them. I miss the feeling of my baby brother’s hand gripping my fingers. I miss how he always laughed hysterically every time I smiled at him. I miss building train tracks for him after school. I miss watching his favorite shows with him and his hugs when we’d pick him up from preschool. I miss mixing and heating up his baby bottles and cleaning his binkys. I miss his mouth breathing when he passed out in his car seat. I miss scrubbing the spaghetti stains off his high chair. I miss playing on the roots on the trees in Medard Park and running across the boardwalk to hear my feet thunk against the wood. I miss hiding my DS under my pillow so I could play Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. I miss playing with my bakugan and pretending they were empires at war. I miss sleeping in my closet just because I could. I miss the dark parking garages and dull beige walls at USF. I miss sitting with my mom in the campus library. I miss going to Busch Gardens every weekend and riding the sky ride over the habitats. I miss taking the train through the safari area and being lulled to sleep by the clacking of the wheels. I miss running across the rope bridges in Jungala and riding Air Grover with my little brother. I miss the smell of chlorine and the cold unfriendly YMCA changing rooms. I miss the rock wall and the hot concrete. I miss swimming in pools and being afraid of the robot cleaning the deep end. I miss feeding the ducks stale bread. I miss my 8th grade history teacher. I miss the cold dark mornings in the car. I miss sitting on my backpack outside the door of my first period class. I miss skipping lunch and hiding in the darkness backstage in the auditorium. I miss the library after school. I miss cleaning the fish tanks in the marine science room. I miss the smell of formaldehyde. I miss walking from the school to the local library and hunkering down in the corner to watch Hetalia on my laptop. I miss listening to music as I walked through fog to the bus stop just before sunrise. I miss the dew on the bus windows and the painfully cold mornings and blue faux leather seats always cracked and peeling. I miss the snails hiding in the cracks of the bricks. I miss the warm summer rain and the windy fall days. I miss hiding in the nurse’s room during pep rallies.

Notes:

If a breed is listed under a different name I noted it, unless it's a very similar name (Scottish Straight = Scottish Shorthair etc.).

I am not super good at distinguishing variants like European and American burmeses, so I put those that were just labeled "burmese" under unspecified. The same for Bombays and Maine Cats).

Breeds' long- and shorthair versions are listed seperately. However I didn't look up every single standard, just each index, and with some breeds it was not specified if they're recognized as longhaired, shorthaired or both. I've listed those as the most common variant. The same goes for ear types, fur types etc. (I might go through all of the standards some other time)

There are some breeds on here that are considered extinct or dormant but since some organisations still have their standard I've listed them. They're marked with an asterisk.

Words in quotation marks are the words I use if there's no official term for something.

apparently REFR accepts all recognized breeds from all registries plus their own. However they didn't write down all of them nor which breeds were extinct, so if anyone knows the latter feel free to tell me.

button badges (research)

this week i was tasked with creating a new march item: a button badge for each room which customers can buy.

i wanted the badges to feel fun and novelty, yet well designed/illustrated so that theyre appealing to the customers

i wanted to have all of the badges have their individual colours (as much as possible) and i began sketching out some ideas for specific rooms

below is my nosferatu research:

as soon as i heard this was one of my tasks the first thing that came to mind was a badge i'd be proud to wear, as nosferatu is my favourite room. the 'president of the nosferatu fan club badge'

my idea for jungala is to make one that says play the game (as this is part of the game and its a starting hint that we give) and another badge that has a monkeys face with the words 'falling for you' on it, this is due to the main gimmick in jungala being that at one point in the game, monkeys fall from a trapdoor in the ceiling.

for tortuga pirates, one that says x marks the spot in a map style badge, and another that has text wrapping round a ship saying 'ship happens' (this room is family friendly, but also a weirdly popular stag do room so i thought one being family friendly, and the other being cheeky is fitting.)

for machina i wanted to keep it simple, one that says the ai is taking over and the other just an image of the ai from the poster (as thats the main focus of the room). machina felt quite limited as there's little to say without spoilers.

for the asylum i instanly knew i wanted the mannequin we have in there as the main focus of the badge, this is the one thing the majority of customers mention as soon as they enter and leave the room. she also has terrible hair so i thought i could play on that with having her as the background and the text as 'bad hair day'.

alcatraz is our most difficult room and for this i decided the badge should be celebratory. simply "i escaped alcatraz!", because it is truly an achievement when people make it out of that room!

So I threw around some names with my friend Mattie and really could not come up with anything better for Floramore… i still feel it’s not magic the gathering enough and simplistic but I been using Floramore for so long I have a hard time thinking of anything new… want some romantic and floral sounding I think the closes I got was Roszithea. He did give me a wonderful new name for Jungala, Kamakshetra. Kama is the name of a deity of love, lust and passion and literally means "desire" or "passion", while "kshetra" is a term referring to places of pilgrimage- in short, Kamakshetra would be "passion's place of pilgrimage" is how he explained it to me and I loved it so much it fits the plan south east Asia theming of the plane so very well.

I still think Floramore sounds good! Floral Amor has both things you’re going for, but I do totally understand wanting the change. Sometimes you have a placeholder name and you get used to hit and just can’t shake it even if it’s not ideal (I’m working on a pokemon fan region based on North America and I came up with Nomera as the placeholder region name and now I think I’m just stuck with that even if I think it’s a little silly xD) You can always just brainstorm every once in awhile when the mood strikes. Maybe look up different flowers, even their scientific names to see if there are sounds you like. Or romance authors/poems/songs, or different words for love. Mix-match and see if anything sticks. I still personally like Floramore but I totally get it if it’s not your thing anymore! Roszithea is certainly a fun name but doesn’t feel like a full plane to me. Maybe it could be a city/county/province IN Floramore?

I’m glad Jungala got a glow-up you’re happy with though! I love that explanation a lot, sounds like a good fit :D

My ideas for the other Showa Kamen Riders.

Since my idea for my fan version of the first Kamen Rider show was so long I had to make my ideas for the other Showa Kamen Riders.

V3 is going to be Tri, and it's going to be another Edenoi season with Tri being the son or grandson of Battanor.

X is Crosser which is an Earth season where the Rider is a survivor of Atlantis.

Amazon is going to be Repton ties into my version of Sun Vulcan in that they both take place in an ancient animal worshipping civilization called Jungala.

I haven't thought up stories for them other than Stronger is going to be Voltar which is an Edenoi season, Skyrider is Soar which is an Earth season and Super-1 is Supremeo which is an Edenoi season.

Black is going to be Bio, and the idea there is it would have the monster plots from Black and the civilian plots from Saban's Masked Rider, and it would have the civilian characters from Saban's Masked Rider.

I would either make the Edenoi characters humans and change their names like making King Lexian into Professor Lexington Stewart, Donais, Zarius, and Farian into Donnie, Sarah and Fabian, and Count Dregon's real name would be Dr. Richard Stewart.

Black RX would be Bio Solar it would essentially be Bio season 2, alternatively Black RX would just be Solar which would be a separate season from Bio about the rebellion on Edenoi and all of the Edenoi characters would be the same.

the jungala poster (the finale)

the feedback i got from the first draft was:

love the board game being in the middle of the forest design, this looks great and in a good direction.

I'm uncertain about the Jungala text colour, what if we played about with the outline of the text? One of the things I liked about the current Jungala poster is the text style of the word "Jungala".

The "Play the game" text should be abit bigger.

To help appeal to families and kids, we should have some animals on the picture such as a Snake, Monkey, Rhino and Elephant to represent the play pieces of the game. I liked the art style attached but with a more friendlier tone.

The poster seems quite dark, could we play about with making the greens abit brighter?

so based off this i started off by creating some animals. i started off with using some sketches i'd created for a previous uni project (the Edinburgh zoo project, which i did about animal poo, hence why the sketches have the animals pooing in them) and and remade them in digitally in the style of the rest of the poster

i then added a monkey and an elephant trunk

i wanted the animals to be funny, so i gave the monkey a wee belly!

i also kept the snake from the original draft too

to create the background i used an image of lots of leaves and then used a guassian blur and a vignette so it wasn't too distracting.

i had originally been using procreate to put the poster together but i then put the rest of the poster together on photoshop.

i then gave two different options to my line manager and he decided on the second one:

he then asked for a green glow coming from the Jungala.
