#FLOAT - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: XYZ Films
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS:  Vlogger Kali and her friends are heading to the river for their annual float, it's the first time since their friend overdosed and drowned the previous year. Having been worn, their plans turn deadly when a sinister paranormal force plunges them into a life and death struggle. The group is separated and they are forced to face their own fears. As their arguing turns violent they proceed to die one by one.
REVIEW: When I begin to watch a film and that voice in my head thinks that the director/writer is trying to reinvent the “Friday the 13th” franchise, or pay homage to them, I’m a bit turned off. That’s not to say it's just the concept, there are other elements in the story that feel like they are drawn on as source material.
There are no surprises here, you are presented with the premise and you know what you are going to get. I didn’t like any of these characters and was rooting for some to die sooner than others. It’s a horror movie, so you know they are going to make some bad choices. However, they make a lot of them. Okay, I did feel sorry for the little girl. She didn’t deserve to be placed in this situation. The idiots who conceived her did, but not her. I kept hoping Kali, the vlogger, would die next, but you can’t have anymore streaming images or posts if you kill her off. My only option was to pause the film and take a break in order to continue. The reason for their journey is to spread their friend’s ashes along the river. It kind of had me wondering if the dead guy had any family as I can’t see any self respecting adults surrendering their child’s ashes to this motley crew.
I’m not sure if the performances are shaped by the screenplay, the director, or what might have been improvised. For the most part they feel cliched and forced. The young actress who plays, I believe, Thea seems like the only adult on duty. The gang from “Mystery Inc.” would have come across this crew, shook their heads and walked away.
I’m sure that most of the budget on this film went to shooting on and in the water, and some of the special effects. The cinematography is fine, the editing is okay. The director handles the action and the river sequences well. I thought there was an issue with the sound in a couple of places. I get the feeling that the costumes were provided by the talent.
The music felt like they were using the film to showcase performers. My thought was validated by the music video that is intercut with the closing credits. In fact, it looks like they put more thought and effort into that music video than the rest of the film.
#FLOAT might have been a supernatural “Deliverance,” but comes off as a disjointed wreck trying to ape themes from the “Friday the 13th” film franchise, minus a guy in a hockey mask. Clearly this film is aimed at a twenty-something tech savvy audience with limited genre exposure. Not your typical day out on the river, older viewers might need a few beers to try and get through this one.

No need to prepare your Draft, whether you're a beginner or experienced player, just use this list and you'll be set. In Standard Scoring Leagues you don't get points for receptions, so you will have to prioritize touchdown-heavy players. In this format, running backs are going to be a priority, so they have a slight edge over wide receiver. However, a receiving running back is also important because you have double the chance to score. If your league allows it, I would start three RBs every week. These will get you the most touchdowns besides a quarterback. So, remember to do after those red zone threats. In the end, they will make the difference when it comes to Standard Scoring formats. The Postal Service Announce New Live Album
The Postal Service will release the new live album Everything Will Change on September 8th. Pre-orders are now up. Before embarking on their long awaited tour celebrating the 20th anniversary tour of their timeless Give Up, The Postal Service reflect on the album’s rapturously received 10th anniversary tour via Everything Will Change–a 16-track live set documenting that 2013 trek with live versions of Postal Service classics including the platinum-certified single “Such Great Heights,” “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight,” “Sleeping In,” “Natural Anthem,” and more, all performed live at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. Everything Will Change will be available on 2xLP + CD on September 8th, 2023, through Sub Pop. Relive that unforgettable night by watching live performances of “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight”and “Natural Anthem” now. The physical release of Everything Will Change will coincide with the kickoff of the first live Postal Service dates in a decade. Hailed as one of the ‘Most Anticipated Tours of 2023,’ The Postal Service will join forces with Death Cab for Cutie who are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their seminal album, Transatlanticism. The six-week tour is playing stages across North America, including two nights at Madison Square Garden and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl. For complete details and ticket information, please visit postalservicemusic.net or www.deathcabforcutie.com. Everything Will Change was also released in 2014 as a feature-length documentary concert film directed by Justin Mitchell, featuring intimate interviews and backstage footage of the band. The Everything Will Change film and Give Up are available through Sub Pop. Born of a long-distance collaboration between Benjamin Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (from Dntel), with Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis, The Postal Service released Give Up, their one and only album, in 2003. That record went on to sell over a million copies, becoming a milestone for generations of fans, many of whom never had the chance to see the band live. In 2013 in commemoration of the 10-year anniversary of Give Up, Sub Pop released an expanded, deluxe version of that album, and the band reunited to tour the world. Track Listing * The District Sleeps Alone Tonight * We Will Become Silhouettes * Sleeping In * Turn Around * Nothing Better * Recycled Air * Be Still My Heart * Clark Gable * Our Secret (Beat Happening cover) * This Place Is a Prison * There’s Never Enough Time * A Tattered Line of String * Such Great Heights * Natural Anthem * (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan (Dntel) * Brand New Colony --- Please consider becoming a member so we can keep bringing you stories like this one. ◎ https://chorus.fm/news/the-postal-service-announce-new-live-album/

#TH1RTE3N  is  a  group  verse  based  around  original  slasher  lore.  if  you  want  to  know  more  or  you’re  interested  in  joining,  please  read  the  CARRD.
the plot follows a slasher in two different timelines, targeting a group of friends who all went to school together. the first timeline takes place in the summer of 2009, following graduation leading up to the first six victims being killed. there was a thirteen year gap, where most of the survivors fled town and moved on with their lives. the second time line picks up in the summer of 2022 with kill #7, when first hale came back to hell and ended up being the first kill of the new timeline. the killer used the funeral and threatened family members and friends to lure the other six names on the list back to hell. the original six victims are available to be written in the 2009 timeline. to make this plot work best, we need other citizens of hell, ohio too. think of the characters in your favorite slasher films. cops, classmates, siblings and cousins, exes, anyone that could spice up the plot through dynamics. you are welcome to make another character affiliated with any other existing character in the plot, as long as you discuss it with the mun of the character you are affiliating with first (i will check, don't be weird.)

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Tumblr media
Top Gun: Maverick is the rare sequel that surpasses its predecessor. Everything you loved about Top Gun is back: the terrific soundtrack, incredible aerial stunts, memorable scenes, iconic characters, the romance, and more. The difference is that set all these years later, many of these same elements take on a whole other, richer meaning.
It’s been over 30 years since Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) enlisted in Top Gun. Still more than a little reckless, and with a penchant for breaking the rules, he is nonetheless called to serve as an instructor for an upcoming and urgent mission. Among his pupils are Lt. Jake “Hangman” Seresin (Glen Powell), Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd (Lewis Pullman), Lt. Natasha “Phoenix” Trace (Monica Barbaro), and - most importantly - Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), son of Maverick's late RIO.
Top Gun: Maverick was repeatedly delayed by the pandemic and is only now arriving in theaters. The wait has been worth it. This film must absolutely be seen on the big screen. First, so you can properly appreciate the aerial stunts. They’re incredible. When we get to the big mission, we might as well be taken back in time to your first viewing of Star Wars when Luke and the rest of the Rebel Alliance were speeding through those endless canyons on the Death Star. You’re so invested in the mission it feels like the universe is at stake - plus the sequences have quite a bit in common. All you can do is feel the excitement, the adrenaline pumping through your veins at a nearly unbearable rate. This brings us to the second reason you’ve got to see this film with a crowd: the communal enthusiasm. This picture is such a crowd-pleaser it would break your heart to stand up and cheer only to see no one around you doing the same.
Despite the dynamite action scenes, it's the emotional content that makes Maverick even better than the original. Tom Cruise still looks like Maverick did all those years ago. His characters is still the endlessly talented hot shot bachelor whose smile melts hearts. Compare him to Iceman (Val Kilmer), who probably hasn’t flown a plane in decades and is an admiral. He was Maverick’s rival, now he’s his boss. We see these two men who started off on the same path now miles apart. It stops you dead in your tracks to see that Val Kilmer has changed so much since Top Gun. It’s doubly appropriate because Maverick is very much stuck in the past. His romantic interest Penny Benjamin (Jennifer Connelly, marvelous) is an old flame - no doubt part of an adventure that happened at least ten years ago. Then there's what happened to Nick “Goose” Bradshaw in 1986. For the mission to be a success, he must confront the past, and find a balance. He needs to be the pilot he is now, and learn to grow up.
In terms of flaws, the biggest is essentially the same as before. The plot concerns an unnamed enemy in an armed conflict that will not start a war despite plenty of bullets and missiles being shot. I suppose you could also say that some of the recruits in Maverick’s class barely get names, much less characterization. This is me looking for a way to prove I’m being fair. The truth is none of those matter in the moment. Top Gun 2 is too effective for you to think about anything outside of the frame.
The story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks makes you feel all of the stories of friendship, love, disappointment, and each victory that have made these people into who they are now. The chemistry between Cruise and Connelly is so good you want more than anything for them to get together, which makes the last act feel a million times more important than it was before. Under the direction of Joseph Kosinski, everything comes together so wonderfully you have no idea where the film will go, or when it will end. Top Gun: Maverick is exactly what I was hoping to see, and more. (Theatrical version on an extended screen, June 12, 2022)
