The Rolling Stone's Top 100 Albums of All Time
100: The Band - "Music from Big Pink" - 6/10
I should have listened to this one absolutely zooted, I would've enjoyed it more. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals but the guitar and bass rule. "Chest Fever" is my favourite off of this one.
99: Taylor Swift - "Red" - 3/10
I'm really disappointed I didn't enjoy this more. I went in excited bc I've really only listened to her hits, but found that the other tracks seemed to blend together sounding a little samey. Its technically good music, but to me it just kind of sounds like Hallmark movie music. (sorry Swifties) I find that a lot of the songs had a lot of build up but didn't pay off in a satisfying way. I think I also just don't really like her voice very much. I ended up really liking "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Nothing New ft Pheobe Bridgers" and that's about it.
98: Lucinda Williams - "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" - 7/10
The beginning of this album fucking slaps, but the latter half unfortunately lost me a bit. It kind of has country Fleetwood Mac vibes. I really like when her voice gets all crunchy.
-"Right in Time" (which i would love to hear Hozier cover)
-"Car Wheels on a Gravel Road"
-"Concrete and Barbed Wire" (this one I choose to believe is about how the prison industrial complex is bad, reminds me a lot of old school country)
-"Joy" has Fiona Apple vibes, and it kicks ass.
97: Metallica - "Master of Puppets" - 9/10
I really enjoyed this, although that's not entirely a surprise given that I've heard it countless times. I wont talk too much about this one bc its not something new for me. "Battery" kicks so much ass as an opening track. I think that so far this is the album that I've found was the most cohesive piece all together, the tracks transition to one another in a really satisfying way.
