Sympathy for the She-Hulk
Tumblr media
It's been, what? Three years since She-Hulk: attorney at law aired and i kind of wanted to revisit it, mostly because i saw a cat on the Youtubes ranting about it recently. This show is held up as the worst thing the MCU has ever produced, and that chaffs my ass a little bit because f*cking Dark World exists. THAT is the worst thing the MCU has ever produced. it's nuts to think about but Thor has got one of the best entries and two of the worst, in the franchise to date. Way back during it's original run, i remember liking Shulkie but thinking it was kind of mid overall. I definitely didn't think it deserved the vitriol then and after a second watch, i still think it got the short end of the stick. In fact, i think it's one of the better entries in Phase Four. That's not saying a lot, though, to be honest. Still, She-Hulk is much better than you remember.
Tumblr media
As a story, it's an interesting take. I am actually a moderate fan of She-hulk. I've been one for a while. She was doing the fourth-wall breaks long before Deadpool and i appreciated that. Knowing she as getting a show was fun so i was all over it when it dropped. I have to say, i wasn't disappointed. I figured they'd go the Attorney at Law angle because that's what makes Shulkie so fun as a character. That run in the comics was one of my favorite so to see a adaption play around in the MCU universe was fun. Now, that's me coming from the perspective of a fan familiar with who Jen Walters is, the tone of the She-hulk character, and a general understanding of where the show would be coming from. The problem for She-Hulk, i think, was the timing.
Tumblr media
Shulkie got her show after the Infinity Saga concluded was meant to introduce another Legacy Character into the MCU. Most comic fans, genuine people who properly followed the comics, probably didn't give a sh*t. Jen and Bruce have existed together in print for f*cking decades. Apparently, the Casuals who get their Marvel fix primarily from the films, thought otherwise. These asshats eviscerated the show on the grounds that Jen was going to replace Bruce or some other nonsense We were neck deep in the mSHEu conspiracy and it tanked any fair chance Shulkie got in her debut, which is absurd because she wasn't even the first Legacy to drop. Hawkeye came out LONG before She-Hulk and no one batted an eye. Nothing but love for Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova yet, all the hate for Jen? Word?
Tumblr media
Admittedly, Yelena is f*cking adorable and Florence Pugh plays her perfectly. I can say the same about Hailee and her take on Kate. But the thing is, and this is a cold, hard, truth, Tatiana Maslany is just as endearing as Jen Walters. She's hilarious, funny, and grounded almost to fault. She not this weird, over the top, feminist bogeywoman all these neckbeards and chauvinists seem to want you to think she is. She a reluctant super person, trying to juggle being one of the gamma greens, and maintain some semblance of the life she built for herself prior to exposure. That's the show. Yes, there is strong commentary about the female plight in a male dominated world. Yes it could have been handled better at times. I'm not going to sit here and tell you the writing was one hundred percent, one hundred percent of the time (that ending with K.E.V.I.N was just lazy), but it homered more than it struck out.
Tumblr media
If you can check your fragile masculinity and straight up gynophobia for five seconds, you could see that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is a fun show that captures the spirit of Jen's comic outings perfectly. She's one of the few MCU examples of a hero who isn't some quippy chucklehead but you still find yourself chuckling at some rather clever takes on certain characters. I loved the Blonsky revisit and, as much as that vocal minority of he-man woman haters disliked it, i thought the re-imaging of Intelligentsia was hilarious. They nailed the relationship between Titania and Jen, and even gave us a Banner cameo in a couple of episodes. The he-men hated that sh*t, though. They all though Jen was outshining Bruce but, like, it was pretty obvious he was holding back, trying to tech his bratty cousin. It' was fun and showed a familial Hulk dynamic i never thought I'd see onscreen.
Tumblr media
Look, She-Hulk isn't great. it's not top tier MCU in any way, shape, or form. But it is very good, and much, much, better than a certain portion of the interwebs would like you to believe. For me, the best thing out of Phase Four not named Spider-Man is definitely Moon Knight but Shulkie has a case to be right there with him. It definitely has issues, i can't defend some of the CG and the writing could be stronger at times, but it's not some egregious misstep of faux Girl Boss propaganda. Like, there's nothing insidious about a show centered around a woman, being developed from a woman's perspective, by a group of women. Like, Barbie is more feminists than She-Hulk and motherf*ckers loved that. Because it was f*cking excellent. She-Hulk ain't that, but it's good enough to get a fresh viewing unencumbered by man-baby tears. Give it another shot. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sylvie: We need to warn Loki.
Mobius: But how ?
Deadpool: checking his phone According to the Marvel Wiki, the second season of his show ended with him becoming a Time God creating the tree of life.
She-Hulk: Then K.E.V.I.N. is the only one who knows how to reach him.
She-Hulk grabs Deadpool and walks out of the frame.

This show's not THAT terrible...
Tumblr media
Hear me out:
if she just struggled a bit more through the show, and had a more complicated (difficult for her) finale...
She Hulk finale (ykw-f-it's Version):
She's in that salon or something (I watched this a long time ago, so I don't remember it very well), with Abomination and all those guys. Hulk arrives to save the day, but she doesn't like it so she pauses the action and literally gets out of her show, passing through the Disney Plus interface and ending up in that weird place, talking with K.E.V.I.N.
NOW! This is what happened in the actual show, but next she wouldn't just say “I want another ending” and we'd fast forward to them having lunch (I think that's what happened? I don't wanna watch it again..., please). HOWEVER, in my version she'd say to K.E.V.I.N. she wanted to change the ending, so she'd come back to her show and stop all the people who are fighting, she'd sit them, she'd put on some formal clothes... and she'd have a trial.
She would do what's she's best in: being a lawyer.
Some character could get angry and try to fight, so we'd have our little battle, but she'd put them in their seat and continue the trial.
I know it's not super interesting, and it's not a huge upgrade, but at least she'd have to actually do something in her show to solve the problem; we'd see her struggle to defend her client (herself, I guess). It wouldn't be a typical Marvel epic finale, but it could still be good (we, as an audience, love those scenes of intense dramatic trials: “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Love and Death”, even that scene in “Scent of a Woman”).

My expectations were low but HOLY FUCK. No other Skrull reveals at all?!
Plus Rhodey’s been replaced since Civil fucking War, effectively nuking any good scenes he had between then and now?!
So to recap: Maria’s fridged, Talos is fridged, Varra existed just to give Fury a rushed and underdeveloped romance, and Sharon might be evil for real unless the MCU is saving more Skrull reveals for cheap shocks, and this whole series was one big wasted opportunity.
K.E.V.I.N can fuck himself.

The confrontation with K.E.V.I.N. is definitely the most controversial part of the show, but personally, I like it. After taking ownership of her own Hulkness, Jen faces the ultimate opponent and seizes control of her show. And y'know what? She's right.
Like. Todd getting Hulk powers is pretty dumb. He's not a worthy and powerful rival to Jen. He's a weak and insecure man-baby and the show should treat him like a weak and insecure man-baby. Letting him be an actual action climax threat is giving him too much dignity.
And also, screw off, Bruce. This isn't your show. You don't get to be the rippling hero, riding in to save your helpless damsel cousin here. In fact, in the original scene, Bruce was a further conflict; He was attacking Abomination out of a misunderstanding. Emil was actually the one on Jen's side here!
There is something compelling about contriving a situation where we're suddenly rooting for Emil to win against Bruce because the latter's going off half-cocked and throwing punches in the wrong direction in a misguided to be the macho man and save his cousin.
But the focus of this climax shouldn't be on Bruce and Emil. This is Jen's show. Jen should be the star of the finale.
And yeah, let's get that shallow man-meat back out here. Sure, it's a little objectifying to treat Matt like this but that's how a lot of superhero media handles their female characters so turnabout is fair play. Let Jen have this!
I am completely onboard with Jen's changes to this climax.
Of course, a question could be asked, "If the climax is stupid then why did you write it like that?" Uh. So Jen would have an excuse to go call Kevin Feige a repetitive hack to his robo-face. Jen seizing control of her own show from Kevin, the final expression of Jen taking agency over She-Hulk, isn't a means to an end. It is the end. This is how the ever fourth-wall breaking Jen manifests her self-actualization.

This is a TEMPORARY PINNED POST while I try to get graphics in order-- which will be after Halloween. BUT--
This is a sideblog to @nerdynanny and where all the Lokis will be moved. ATM there's a handful of active Loki muses here. Full dossiers wip.
Tumblr media
Atreus: Champion of the Jötnar- Son of a god from a pantheon long lost, now going by the alias of 'Loki', this Atreus is canon through Ragnarok. Heavily Affiliated with @fatedechoes [Laufey] and @movemnt [Kratos]
Loki of Midgard: AU Atreus formerly on @laufayeson. He's now the Lord of Mischief. Loki has aged dramatically since Fimbulwinter. He’s a time jumping impish entity of chaos. He experiences time outside of chronological order due to a curse set upon him by someone he’d once held dear. He’s a far cry from the boy he once was– though there are moments when Atreus shines through among all the Loki energy he exudes. Usually when he’s doing archery– which he engages with less and less as man evolves. The spoken word is powerful enough on its own– but combined with his mastery of magic, he really has no need.
Basim Ibn Ishaq: A reincarnated Isu formerly known as 'Loki'. Basim takes many years to come to terms with his identity-- but it's not til he meets Eivor that he truly becomes Loki. Post timeskip Loki is also available.
God of Stories Loki: Post Loki series canon-- Post Deadpool. EXTREMELY selective due to the fact that this Loki exists outside time and space and everything. So like he doesn't socialize a lot. But hey-- Deadpools. Swing by. He likes your vibe.
TVA Loki: Loki Series AU - TVA Agent Loki. He works in tandem with Agent Mobius to ensure any variants are properly sorted. Can work in either old or new TVA for some weird reason that no one comments on. [See K.E.V.I.N. for details]
Loki: Formerly on @greatliie-blog. AU Endgame Loki. Due to Tony meddling with the timeline, Loki was freed and had the Tesseract in his possession. He soon learned that the timeline had been fractured– and his escape was never meant to be. Thankfully the multiverse was permitted to thrive-- so Loki disguised himself [poorly] among the human population.
He learned of the loss of his family, his home, and himself. He's insulted to have died at the hands of Thanos, and makes it his mission to avoid most Avenger Level issues. Loki is a man without purpose– and thus does what he does best, aims to make mischief.

I loved the She-Hulk finale. I was waiting the whole season for Jen to tear down the fourth wall, and it finally happened. And the K.E.V.I.N. gag was just *amazing*.

Marc actually is a glow in the dark one, at least the packaging said he is!! :) The very special Mr. Knight was kind of a smaller one somehow I think? But I don't remember exactly...he looked a lot smaller at least??? odd!
I got Marc in that collectors box thing that you can see in the back on the first picture, inside was another Funko Pop called K.E.V.I.N from She-Hulk; Apparently the Moon Knight and that K.E.V.I.N thing were sold in that box package deal thing and even tho I dont need the other figurine I just had to buy it for the Marc! I gave the K.E.V.I.N to a friend who likes She Hulk. :)
It was so worth it for the Marc alone tbh, and apparently Taweret is Limited Edition too, at least the packaging says such? So I just had to get my hands onto them :) I am also very happy, especially since I was so sad at first because no artist has any Moon Knight art for me to buy :( ♥
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I went to the Dokomi (a german Convention, the biggest as far as I know actually) yesterday (I was there all day I am hurting so much today omg), and sadly I didn't find any artist that had Moon Knight fanarts... :( BUT! I did find these three Moon Knight Funko Pops and I HAD to take them home! Unmasked Marc? Yes please. Taweret? Yayyy. Harrow? ...I honestly left him behind at first and then went back to the seller and got him as well haha. I just had to have all three of them.
They also had some kind of super special edition Mr. Knight one? But that one was 185 Bucks?!?! Nope, I don't like Funko enough for that one haha. In fact, I actually think most Funkos are incredibly ugly, but... it's Moon Knight, and I think these ones are fairly nice, all things considered. :)

So people are pointing out that Rhodey was still wearing his leg braces in IW/Endgame but not in TFAWS, therefore he couldn’t have been replaced since CW.
Guys, plot consistency has never been the MCU’s strong suit. We’ve had plot holes galore. Why else have we had Wanda’s 180 between WandaVision and MoM, Steve going from moving on in the present to abandoning all his friends for the past, everyone just kinda forgetting about Sharon, and of course Carol and Fury failing to give the Skrulls a new home. Not to mention Fury acting like a GOT season 8-level dumbass for most of this show in general.
So while I’d like to think the Rhodey in the movies wasn’t Skrullshit, I don’t trust K.E.V.I.N.

Villain Breakdown: Kevin Feige
In this, the year of our union strikes 2023, there is something alarmingly relevant about She-Hulk's true final boss being a soulless AI algorithm existing to churn out mediocre content with zero regard for artistic integrity.
It really says something about Kevin that he was willing to let them get away with this. Someone actually came to him and proposed making him the ultimate villain of the show and having She-Hulk call him a creatively bankrupt hack to his face. And he signed off on that.
Reportedly, the only thing he made them change was his hat. They were going to put a little hat on the K.E.V.I.N. robot, and he wouldn't let them do it because he couldn't conceive of a reason why a robot would wear a hat. They had to mold its front to create the image of a hat because they couldn't have an actual hat.
He was wrong. The robot should have had a little hat. That would have been amazing.
I love every moment of Jen's confrontation with Kevin. From "Please change back into Jen because you are very expensive" to "When are we getting the X-Men!?" this whole confrontation is a laugh riot from start to finish.
I don't really have a lot to say about this. I just couldn't resist the urge to do a Villain Breakdown of Kevin Feige. What an incredibly bold conclusion to the show. I hope this gets a second season.
