Mission to Minerva Fails

Last night I completed my first scifi short in Blender, a project which I started looking at back in November for the KitBash3D Mission to Minerva challenge. Given how busy life can be, and with how much I had to learn to make it all come together, I knew it was a long shot to make the contest deadline, but I decided that it would be a good learning experience, if nothing else.

The deadline came and went a month and a half ago, but I wanted to see it through. I had to learn about camera movement, basic lighting, procedural materials, animations and keyframing, and a lot more about virtual model making to bring everything to life.

Most of the "hero" assets, like the rover in the thumbnail, were modified from the original pieces in the asset pack to give my own spin on things, modified from other sources, or modeled completely on my own. Just like all those years building models and miniatures for games, I just need to have custom stuff on the board.

So this was my first real story project like this, but it definitely won't be my last.
