The Kansas City Royals ask taxpayers to give them $1 billion. Then ask for additional $700 million...maybe more?
The Kansas City Royals must love keeping secrets. After announcing to everyone in 2022 that they were leaving their current ballpark, it took two years for them to finally tell us where the new one would be built. But anything else? Good luck. Things got so bad last year that the team owner had to write a public letter telling everyone to relax and just wait for the new ballpark to be announced.…

Not only is it boyfriend Travis Kelce's number and not only did it come from a woman-owned small business based in Kansas City, but it also came from Donna Kelce herself. Emily Bordner, the owner and creative director of EB and Co., is the creative behind the Chiefs-themed jewelry. She recently told local news outlet KMBC that she already had a fan in Donna so she sent her some new pieces in hopes that she'd pass them on to the "Anti-Hero" singer.

The Kansas Defender reported that a 16-year-old was shot in the head by a white man and, as he lay bleeding, the man shot him in the head again. Yarl ended up at the door accidentally on April 13 when he was asked to go pick up his sibling at a friend's house. The house where he was supposed to go was on NE 115th Terrace. Yarl went to NE 115th Street instead.
The Defender said that the man was taken to the police headquarters briefly to give a statement and was then released without charging him.

A man suspected of killing his girlfriend and her unborn child and then hiding their bodies in a Wisconsin farmhouse was arrested in a Missouri traffic stop after three years on the lam, according to the Gladstone Police Department.
Jose Eduardo Dominguez Garcia, 26, was pulled over shortly after midnight on Nov. 23 when an automated license plate reader indicated that the red Ford Fusion he was driving northeast of Kansas City, Missouri, was stolen, the department wrote in a press release.
The driver reportedly had a number of fake ID cards on his person and gave officers several different names around 12:34 a.m. on NE Englewood Drive in Gladstone, police said.
Ultimately, police identified him as Jose Eduardo Dominguez-Garcia, 26, who was wanted on first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child and hiding a corpse charges in Missouri's Chippewa County, per the release.
Dominguez-Garcia was issued those charges on Dec. 12, 2021, after a dark-haired, pregnant corpse recovered a year earlier in an abandoned farmhouse in Wheaton was positively identified as Rosaly "Cindy" Chavarria Rodriguez, 24.
An informant reportedly told officers about the body's location during a drug investigation, per the Leader Telegram.
The corpse, found hidden in a purple suitcase on the abandoned property on Oct. 14, 2020, was found wearing a shirt that read "Sprecher's Restaurant and Pub," per NBC 15.
Staff at the restaurant told police that Chavarria Rodriguez had worked there as a pantry cook for two weeks and was last seen there on July 2 before she stopped showing up for work and, ultimately, the corpse was found, per the Leader Telegram.
Dominguez-Garcia also worked at the restaurant, according to KMBC. He reportedly picked her last paycheck up for her on July 23, according to the Leader Telegram.
In an interview with the Reedsburg Police Department on July 23 that year, Dominguez-Garcia told detectives that he had broken up with Chavarria Rodriguez on July 4 after he learned she had been cheating on him, per the Leader Telegram. He said he knew the woman was pregnant, and that she had told him the unborn child's father was a different man.
Investigators found Dominguez-Garcia's abandoned 2003 Volkswagen Jetta in the Wisconsin Dells area on Aug. 26, 2020, per the Leader Telegram. In the trunk, they noted fluids that indicated a decaying body may have been stored there at one point, per the outlet.
Surveillance footage captured the same car along 2655 Highway T, in the area where the woman's body was uncovered, on July 23.
Chavarria Rodriguez's ex-husband had reported the Peruvian national missing on July 21.
Dominguez-Garcia is currently behind bars at Clay County Detention Center in Liberty, Missouri, jail staff confirmed to Fox News Digital. It is unclear when he will be extradited to Wisconsin to face the charges against him.
Former Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk said Chavarra Rodriguez's was the only unresolved murder investigation he left before his retirement, and that he was glad to see an arrest made.
"This has been a very long and intense investigation," Kowalczyk told the Leader Telegram on Friday. "A lot of time and effort was put into this investigation by many agencies, and as a result, he will be brought to justice."
The former sheriff said he was surprised Dominguez-Garcia was arrested in the United States, as "all indications… led us to believe he went back to his country of origin."
Fox News Digital could not reach the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, the Chippewa County Prosecutor's Office or the Gladstone Police Department at press time.

And now the public libraries' funding is being held hostage if they do not restrict use to books from all minors

St. Louis Post Dispatch Jul 28, 2023
I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of what they mean by "obscene" or "pornographic." They're not talking about 50 Shades of Grey. They're not talking about pulp novels or Chuck Tingle books. They're talking about books that, up until this point, have been taught in schools. Books that feature gay couples or show racial discrimination or political dissidence. Books that say "hating people for their identity is wrong." Books that make you think and challenge your beliefs. The politicians know this. The librarians very much know this. A large portion of the citizens know this.
They would rather the people whose lives they control to go without internet, medical assistance, community events, printers, paper scanners, kids activities, kitchen supplies, movies, video games, free information; than let a 16 yr old read To Kill A Mockingbird or Persepolis or One Man Guy just because they want to.
I know Missouri isn't alone in this. It seems with each passing day America's complete fall to fascism becomes more imminent. Restricting education is one of the most vital steps.

Missouri police officers have faced criticism from some members of the community after they were accused of dismissing claims about the abduction of Black women weeks before a woman made a dramatic escape from a basement she was being held captive in.
Excelsior Springs, Missouri, resident Timothy M. Haslett, 39, was arrested on Oct. 7 after a woman escaped his home, according to a probable cause affidavit for the arrest.
She told neighbors that she had been held captive for a month in the basement.MORE: Woman abducted at knifepoint jumps out of moving car to escape man she stopped to help, police say
After the 22-year-old woman fled, she showed up at the front door of a neighbor's home wearing lingerie, a metal collar with a padlock and duct tape around her neck, according to the court document.
"It was readily apparent that she had been held against her will for a significant period of time," Excelsior Springs Police Lt. Ryan Dowdy told reporters during a news conference on Oct. 7, according to ABC News Kansas City affiliate KMBC.

Last month, The Kansas City Defender, a nonprofit media startup, posted a video to TikTok alleging that a serial killer had been targeting young Black girls in the area, The Kansas City Starreported.
The video alleged that four girls have been killed and three went missing in the area, according to the newspaper.MORE: Woman allegedly held hostage in New York City apartment uses Grubhub order to alert police
In the video, Bishop Tony Caldwell, a local Kansas City community leader, said he was one of many in the area who had made reports to police of numerous murdered and missing Black women who had been taken from an area on Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Defender.
After the video went viral, Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Donna Drake said in a statement there was "no basis to support this rumor," describing the reports as "completely unfounded," The Kansas City Star reported.

The woman who escaped, who is Black, told investigators that Haslett allegedly picked her up on Prospect Avenue in September and then kept her in a small room in a basement he built. Haslett allegedly kept her restrained by her feet and ankles and whipped her repeatedly, according to the probable cause affidavit.
She was only able to escape when Haslett left to take his child to school, the woman said, according to the court document. She was treated at the hospital and released on Oct. 7, Excelsior Chief of Police Greg Dull told ABC News last week.MORE: Woman missing for 2 months found 'chained up like a dog': Police
After the victim escaped and searched for help, she told neighbors that her friends "didn't make it," alleging that Haslett killed them, Ciara Tharp, whose grandmother provided shelter for the victim until police arrived, told CBS Kansas City affiliate KCTV. Excelsior Springs police confirmed to the Daily Mail that detectives are actively investigating the possibility of two more victims.
Kansas City Police Department spokesperson said in a statement to ABC News that there have been no reports of missing persons, more specifically women missing from Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, filed to the department.
"In order to begin a missing person’s investigation, someone would need to file a report with our department identifying the missing party," the statement read. "Again, we notify the media/public anytime our department responds to a homicide in our city and none match, or have been reported to what has been described."
