That was entré to a role in an ad campaign for a 10th anniversary Ga-Rei: Zero pachinko machine.  Besides he fact that Kagura Tsuchimiya, the heroine of the Ga-Rei manga and prequel anime, uses a sword to sword to fight evil spirits, the premise of this spectacular vegetable slicing is being performed to prepare curry, and "curry" sounds a bit like "Ga-rei."
