“Y/N, I can’t tell you the answer to that!,” Peter tried to reason with you as you both walked on the pavement filled with dried leaves.
“Pete, please just this once,” you looked up at him, trying to convince him with your puppy eyes so that he will break the answer for the chemistry question to you. For a moment, what you thought was Peter’s stand seemed to falter but he quickly composed himself.
“No and that’s my final decision,” he stormed off, leaving in front of a cafe in the mild autumn breeze.
You let out a sigh as you opened the door to the cafe. It wasn’t an ordinary cafe, it was a family business. It was named John’s Cafe, after your grandfather. Your parents usually took care of the cafe, you would just help them to bake pastries after finishing your homework or whenever you were free.
Your parents were out of town as they went to visit your ailing aunt. It was all up to you to take care of the cafe now.
You set your bag down, changed your clothes, and wore your apron, preparing the dough to bake the pastries. You were planning on selling the premade strawberry pastries, not only because it was on the menu, also because you wanted bring some for Peter as it was his favorite.
You started off by preparing the strawberry filling by combining sugar and tapioca in a small saucepan. You added fresh strawberries and let it stand for 5 minutes. When the mixture started to boil, you mixed some lemon juice in it, stirring it until it was thick and left it to cool.
You rolled out the premade dough and cut it into squares. You spooned out the fillings into the center of each square. After sealing the pastries, you placed them in the preheated oven.
After 10 minutes, the pastries turned a golden brown, prodding you to take them out. You drizzled the icing you made earlier and proudly set them up on the counter.
You dusted your hands on your apron before walking over to the entrance of your cafe and flipping the sign over to ‘OPEN”. You looked at the light evening sky which was full of golden rays that signified the end of the day and sighed contently to yourself.
Peter crawled up the wall of the Avengers Tower as he looked over the whole town, keeping an eye for any crimes happening out there. Suddenly, Karen’s voice woke him up from his thoughts.
“Peter, you have a message from Y/N,”
Peter smiled as he heard your name. He was planning to swing by your cafe to drop off the answer to the ‘indecipherable’ (according to you) question. He wanted to tell Karen a reply to your message, but something caught his eye.
A security alarm was going off at one of the cafes near him. The mechanical eyes on his suits squinted to see the name of the cafe. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest when he saw it.
John’s cafe
He swung quickly to your cafe as his mind swirled with thoughts of you. He was planning on activating ‘Instant Kill Mode’ if anything ever happens to you. He let out a audible gasp as he saw the scene between you and the robber unfold before him.
You were holding a frying pan to protect yourself from the perpetrator. Peter nearly laughed out loud when he saw you.
“What are you doing over there? C’mere and help me!” you waved your pan at the masked hero.
Peter shot some webs at the robber and tied him up. He ran and gave him a flying kick which sent him to the corner of the room. He made the robber stick to the wall nearby.
“So, ma’am, I would love to stay here but I have to go and drop off the criminal over there at the police station,” Peter said, intentionally deepening his voice.
“Sure, Spiderman, thank you for saving my life,” you nodded and smiled. To be honest, you were freaking out. Your favorite superhero was standing in front of you, and you had to try hard to calm yourself down.
“Um, here you go,” you stared down at the watch-looking device that Spiderman just handed you.
“What is this?” you asked as the device wrapped itself around your wrist, fitting you perfectly, as if it was made for you.
“Oh, it’s like a device where if you press the button on it and the red light flashes, it sends a signal to me and your coordinates. This will help me to save you if you are in danger. Plus tip, if the red light flashes thrice, it means that I didn’t get your message or I ignored it, but we both know that won’t happen,” he explained.
You slowly nodded and tried to grasp whatever the man/boy in front of you was blabbering about.
“Maybe I should get going- are tHOSE STRAWBERRY PASTRIES?!” he exclaimed.
“Yes! So, do you want some?” you asked and noticed that the eyes on his suit grew wider.
His head bobbed enthusiastically and you packed some of the pastries for him. He let a quick wave of his hand and left the cafe, leaving you in the cold night.
“I met him Peter, it was really Spiderman!” you explained to the brown-eyed beside you.
“Of course, Y/N, why would Spiderman even be there?” he asked you with a light smirk.
“Guess what,” you huffed.”I’m getting out of here. See ya later, alligator.”
Peter smiled as he saw your nimble feet skipping down the way to your cafe.
You toyed with the device that the masked hero gave you as you stared out into the oblivion. Your transient meeting with him has left a strong impact on you.
You wanted to see him.
Your finger hovered over the button as you bit the inside of your cheek. Holding your breath, you pressed the button.
In about a minute, you saw Spiderman standing right at the entrance of your cafe.
“Wait, why, what happened?!” he asked in between breaths.
“Oh, shit, sorry! The watch accidentally hit the wall, so I think it called you,” you lied, red rising up your cheeks.
“Ah ok then,” he scratched his head.”I think I better get going now.”
You nodded your head and gave him a bag of strawberry pastries. You gave a smile his way as he swung back to his quarters.
As days went by, you kept pressing the button on the device so that you can meet the young superhero. The conversations between you guys always went by like this :
“Wait Y/N, why did you call me?”
“Oh, sorry, I dropped the device and it called you,”
“If you do that one more time…”
“Why am I here again?”
“My cat stepped on it,”
“You don’t even have a cat,”
“No, I am telling the truth!”
“If you do that one more time…”
“Jesus Christ, Y/N what are you doi- IS THAT A MOUSTACHE?”
“EY HERMANA, hOLA”
“gET tHat mOUSTACHE OFF”
“NO, THIS IS MY pRIDE”
“If you do that one more time…”
But, unbeknownst to you, Peter was falling for you. A minor crush that he had on you was now a very major crush.
Even though he was tired of you calling his alter ego, but admittedly, he liked it.
He loved seeing you happy and the smile you would give him as you hand him the bag of strawberry pastries.
He was elated by the fact that you would tell him your encounters with Spiderman whenever you meet him.
He really wished that he could confess his feelings for you, but he didn’t want to place you in a precarious position He was worried that if anyone knew that he was Spiderman, they would come after you.
He sighed softly as he stood up from his bed to take a bath.
On his study table, the device that was connected to yours was flashing a bright red.
“Fucking hell,” you whispered softly, inaudible to masked robber in your cafe, “Where the hell is Spiderman when you need him?”
You kept pressing the button until the springs came out of it. You muttered a curse word to yourself as you reached to your back pocket to get your phone.
Your thumbs flew at a rapid speed, typing out words to Peter which might also be your last words.
Y/N
peter, there is a fkin robber
come n save me
pls
btw, i love y
Before you could type out the last message, your hair was yanked and pulled out from your hiding place. You wriggled out of the unknown person’s grip and punched him in the face.
You were face to face with the masked robber. A light drip of blood was visible on his jaw, the place you just punched.
He grabbed you by the shoulder, applying too much pressure which made tears from at the side of your eyes. He pushed you down to the chair and tied you up with a rope. Taping your mouth with a strip of duct tape, he proceeds to go to the counter to take all the money and shove it inside his bag.
You sat there helplessly as you saw smirking at all the money he just found
Isn’t there anyone to help me? you thought to yourself.
“Stop right there!” a voice came from the entrance of your store.
Ah, here this bitch comes, you mused as you saw Spiderman standing in his famous suit.
“Heh, what are you gonna do, Spiderboy,” a chuckled came from the bad guy.
“First of all, it’s Spiderman,” he said as he delivered a swift kick to his face and webbed his hands up.
The masked hero glided smoothly to web the perpetrator up against the wall and come to your side and untie you. You hugged him as you felt a wave of emotions sweep over you, mainly relief, happiness and love.
You hesitated as the mask of the hero deterred you from kissing the lips of the man behind it. Somehow he read your thoughts and pulled off his mask and only hesitated for a split second. Before that, he made sure that the robber did not see his face.
You were shocked and relieved to see your best friend standing in front of you. You gave him a soft smile and stood closer to him. Peter took your cheeks in his hands and guided your lips to his.
Sparks coursed through your whole body as Peter started caressing your lower back. It was just a small and sweet kiss, which signaled the start of your romantic relationship.
Both of you pulled back, foreheads resting against each others. Suddenly, Peter started sniffing something as he lifted his head up.
“Why? What’s wrong?” you ask, concerned.
“Do you still have strawberry pastries?”
This adorable and dumb dork.

Summary: Peter Parker falls for lab partner!reader when he notices her drawing a bird during class and turns to his pal Spider-Man to follow her to a cafe where she loves to draw and he loves to admire her
Pairing: Peter Parker x reader
Warnings: literally 1 curse word, all of it is just fluff
A/N: i didn’t proofread as usual so sorry if it’s complete shit and i apologize that literally every single one of my stories has ended the exact same i’m an awful writer sjksjsksjsjk btw when will Tom finally show us his new hair he’s making me so nervous uGH
Words: 2347 (srry if it drags on and is super boring)
It was a normal 3rd period in chemistry class as the teacher droned on about the names of certain elements of the periodic table.
Peter’s boredom level had surpassed extreme as his eyelids began to droop closed. He had been losing excessive amounts of sleep having to stay out until the late hours of night saving lives and stopping robberies. He was slowly starting to grow used to his sleep schedule though, sometimes too tired to slip off his Spider-Man suit when he snuck in through his window at three in the morning.
When the clouds in the sky unmasked the blinding sunshine showing through the classroom’s windows Peter’s eyes widened in a desperate attempt to stay awake. As he went to stretch he caught a glimpse at his lab partner, Y/N.
Her hair had fallen loose in her face as her mechanical pencil worked it’s magic on her piece of notebook paper.
Peter kept his gaze on her hands, watching her sketch out the details of a gorgeous bird. His heart seemed to warm up at her drawing, eyes switching to look closer at her face. Her eyes narrowed at her doodle, head resting in the palm of her hand lazily.
A tiny piece of a smile was snug comfortably in the corners of her mouth. She looked at peace, her eyes flicking to the nature outside every once in awhile. Chunks of sun radiated against the left side of her face, wedging themselves in between her eyelashes making her look velvety soft whenever she blinked.
Peter didn't realize that he was staring until the teacher called his name.
“Peter?” Mr. Smith mustered again and Peter’s head twisted in the direction of the teacher.
Everybody’s eyes, including Y/N’s, trailed to his figure, waiting for him to retort.
“Oh, uh, the equation to find the percent yield is laboratory yield over theoretical yield. One hundred is equal to the percent yield.” he replied, hoping his answer wasn't completely different then the question.
Mr. Smith turned his back to the class and began to write Peter’s phrase on the chalkboard. “That is correct.” he mustered, pressing the piece of chalk to the green surface on the wall.
Peter looked at Y/N again and she was back to pressing pencil to paper, peacefully sketching out the lines of her bird. He shook his head, blinking away his obsession with staring.
When the last period of the day ended and Peter was eager to sneak into his Spider-Man suit he decided to search for Y/N, hoping to walk her home or start a conversation about her drawings with her.
His eyes found her walking out of the doors while he was striding down the hall, people bumping in his way as he tried his best to catch up with her.
Stepping outside, looking left and right, his chest heaved out a big sigh at the realization of losing her. He had given up at his journey in finding her, choosing to just go to the alleyway to change instead.
After getting on his tight red and black clothing he went to locate more crimes and more people to teach a lesson, until when he spotted her figure walking down the street.
He shot a web to swing closer to her.
She reached a cafe, pulling the door open and stepping inside. Peter could see through the building with it’s clear windows as she greeted the cashier, telling him a few words before taking out her wallet and handing him a couple of dollars. Y/N picked a perfect seat in a booth where Peter could see her face perfectly but couldn’t exactly recognize the words on her phone screen even if he asked Karen to zoom in for him.
Y/N fished out her sketchbook, earbuds, pencils, and erasers from her backpack, setting them on the table. A waitress set a cup of what looked like coffee in front of Y/N and said a few more words to her before leaving.
Minutes had passed of Peter admiring her smile and draw, occasionally taking a sip of her drink.
“Karen, is it weird that I’m watching Y/N?” Peter asked his computerized companion, embarrassed of himself. Karen kept quiet for a couple of seconds before answering.
“Who is Y/N?” she questioned. Peter briefly chuckled. “Uh, well, she’s this girl who sits next to me in chemistry. She’s really pretty and nice and she can draw really well. We’re sort of friends I guess.” he responded, rubbing the back of his neck with his gloved hand.
“Do you have feelings for her?” Karen asked and Peter went into deep thought.
Did he?
The question never really popped up until now and he really had to think about it.
He liked the way she laughed whenever he told her a stupid science pun while they were supposed to be working on a project together. And he liked watching her concentrate so hard on an equation. For God’s sake the realization of him adoring her as she drew had just seemed to hit his brain.
“I mean,” he muttered. “now that you say something about it. I guess I do.”
A smirk was evident under his mask at his comprehension of his liking for Y/N. He really did like her and it was exciting to him that he could actually speak/had spoken to somebody he liked for once. Actual words and not gibberish.
It had become a daily occurrence for Y/N to go to the cafe everyday after school and work on her drawings. Peter or Spider-Man had seemed to unknowingly tag along with her, sitting on the fire escape of the apartment building across from the coffee shop, watching her doodle along while listening to her music and sipping on the exact same coffee she orders every time she walks in there.
Peter had perceived that Y/N was working on the same drawing whenever she would open her sketchbook and begin to scratch the paper with her pencil. He didn’t exactly know what the subject of her big piece of art was but he imagined it was another bird.
Every boring lecture in chemistry he would slyly look in the corner of his eye and see her drawing a bird in the corner of her worksheet.
Although each scribble was different. Sometimes it would be a bird drinking out of a bird bath or a bird soaring through the clouds.
Peter noticed that on rainy days she liked to draw hummingbirds. He didn’t have a reason for why she did but of course it didn’t really throw his train of thought off of it’s tracks.
The bell for the next class rang and Y/N routinely shoved her worksheet inside of her notebook and put it in her backpack. When she picked her backpack up though her sketchbook fell to the ground with a gentle thud. Peter’s hand landed on it first, picking it up, some of the pages brushing close to falling open. He did sneak a peek at some though, but wasn’t quick enough to recognize what they all were.
“Sorry about that.” she apologized with a giggle. His eyes met hers while her small smile stayed pasted on her face as he gave the book back to her. “It’s no problem.” he blessed.
“Thank you.” she mumbled. Her heart was beating out of her ears at the secret intimacy that they were both feeling for each other at the same time. She dropped it in her backpack, letting her eyes trail to the floor in bashfulness while tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear.
School ended the equivalent time as always and Peter was thrilled to change back into his alter-ego, anxious to watch Y/N continue to draw again.
Except when he swung to same old fire escape it came to his attention that she wasn’t there this time. She wasn’t waiting for her coffee or scrolling through her music library to find a new song like usual. She was nowhere to be seen.
Peter’s eyebrows turned down in confusion. He looked down the street. Nobody but regular pedestrians.
“Okay, Spider-Boy.” he heard somebody say. He turned to face them and there she was climbing out of the abandoned apartment building’s window onto the rusty metal below her feet.
His eyes widened in surprise. “Uh.” he stuttered nervously.  “Tell me why you’ve been following me for the past week?” she ordered, throwing her backpack to lay beside her legs. He cleared his throat, anxiety burning in his lungs. “What? I h-haven’t been following you?”
She rolled her eyes, a devious grin on her lips and her right eyebrow raised. “I’m not stupid,” she told, crossing her arms. “I know you come here and sit on the edge of this exact same fire escape and keep an eye on me like you’re part of the police.” She noticed a familiarity in his voice but ignored it like she didn’t really care.
Spider-Man sighed and waited awhile to answer her. “I-” he began but paused himself like he was almost scared to tell her the truth. “I like to watch you draw.” he said but faded his sentence out like he didn’t want her to hear it.
But she understood every word he said.
She swallowed the saliva in her mouth and narrowed her eyes at him. “You come here everyday….to watch me draw?” she repeated like it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. “Yeah.” he confirmed.
Her face kind of lit up at her awareness of his cute action. “Seriously?” she asked, a softer facial expression spread on her face now that she had thought it was quite adorable that he was fond of her drawings. “Mhm.” he murmured.
“That’s sweet,” she acknowledged. “how can you see what I’m drawing from all the way over here?”
He cackled. “I actually can’t really see what you’re drawing, you’re more of my attention most of the time.” he admitted, turning embarrassed. She smiled, her cheeks heating up and making sure to look everywhere but at him.
“Well do you at least want to look at some of my sketches?” she offered.
Peter smiled behind his red mask, happy to see this whole situation wasn’t turning into complete shit.
She took her sketchbook out of her backpack and gave it to him. What she didn’t want him to know was that she was practically handing over her whole life to him but for some odd reason she felt like she could trust him.
He flipped it open revealing all kinds of subjects and ideas. The pages were filled with fantastic pencil drawings of people, flowers, birds, and-
Peter ceased his fingers from turning the next page when his eyes settled on the lead marks.
It was a drawing of him.
“You stopped?” she recognized.
“W-who’s this?” he asked, in hopes to get her to drag on about what she knew about him.
She walked over to stand beside him and when she saw who he was talking about a smile spread across her face. “Oh, that’s Peter Parker,” she replied and giggled. “he’s the guy I like.”
Peter was left speechless.
She liked him back. She just admitted to liking him and she didn't even know it was him behind all of the red and black.
“This is an old drawing though,” she said and began to flip several pages until she reached the last page that was filled before the blank pages she hadn't filled yet. “I’ve been working on this for a couple of days.”
It was beautiful. The detail of his face and his hands were absolutely breathtaking and it looked so close to looking like an actual photograph instead of a drawing. He felt so in love with her. “I really love sketching out his eyes and his smile the most. I’m not sure why. I just think those are my favorite features about him I guess?” she explained.
“You know, I’ve actually heard a rumor that you two know each other?”
Spider-Man looked at her and really took in her beauty. The colors of orange and pink that mixed together from the sunset to made her skin glow, her eyes that twinkled when she looked at him, and the light breeze that blew her hair back. It all made her look perfect.
She was quite aware that he was adoring her once silence descended into the air. She didn't mind at all though, she actually liked it. It made her feel treasured.
“C-can I kiss you?” he asked politely, hands closing her book simultaneously.
Peter was definitely not used to being this confident but of course he didn't seem to care at the moment.
Y/N wasn't really taken back because for some reason she had been oddly enough waiting for him to make a move.
“Hm, now that requires revealing your identity Mr. Superhero, would you really want to do that?” she teased. Peter turned his body in her direction.
Peter felt the urge to do it, like he really did trust her, like he knew in his heart she wouldn't dare to tell a soul about his biggest secret.
“Can I trust you?” he asked like he needed confirmation for himself.
She looked away from him for a couple of seconds and then set her gaze back to it’s original spot. “You can trust me.” she promised, biting her bottom lip.
He grabbed the red material from the back of his head and yanked it forward, his hair flopping in his face.
Her eyes widened, but she didn't move at all.
She almost didn't feel surprised, like somehow she had known all along that it was him.
“Peter Parker,” she purred, moving his singular curl that had fallen out of place back to where it was. “I should’ve known.”
He grinned at her reaction, taking her chin between his fingers and leaning in, pressing a warm kiss to her lips.

So, when you talk about your "long-winded and disjointed list of problems" with season 2...I'm curious to ask, what's on that list?
It’s been a few months since I’ve re-watched Season 2, so feel free to correct me if I’ve misremembered something.
My biggest problems with season 2:
The Timeline:
Everything has to take place in the span of a few weeks? If it worked out logically, Matt wouldn’t have self-destructed the way he did. He catches the Punisher in a few days, the trial happens a week later (riiight...) and then lasts a few days. Then the Punisher gets out in less time than the length of the trial. And all of this is happening during very time-sensitive Hand discoveries? Kevin McCallister voice: I don’t think so.
Nelson and Murdock
How in the hell do two men with expensive law degrees afford to live in New York when they are (maybe) paying the rent for their space and nothing else? You can’t ignore that fact for an entire second season. Maybe Matt could survive off of whatever money his father left him, but that seems unlikely. And I haven’t gotten the vibe that Foggy is rich like in the comics. Plus, the Punisher certainly isn’t paying them, so the best case scenario would be that hopefully their careers aren’t ruined and more (criminal) clients to show up on their doorstep after everything is done?
I know DD is a dark show, but one of the best elements of the show is the relationships. Foggy and Karen balance Matt out - they are his ties to his humanity. But the second half of the show he is off screwing them over and they barely interact with him for the last four episodes - a good 1/4th of the season. I don’t think he even speaks with Foggy in those last episodes. Foggy basically disappears from the show - and the fact that Matt doesn’t see him while he’s standing on the roof of the same hospital is so incredibly aggravating. He’s been Daredevil for a year? A year and a half? So he was a decent friend before all that and then became an asshole? Does his alter-ego have that big a hold on him? He really needed to have more conversations with Father Lantom, that’s for damn sure.
They didn’t use Foggy enough after the trial. He’s so much better than the role of sanctimonious best friend. In the beginning of season 2 he is more accepting of Matt’s nightly activities and I think that’s because he knows that Matt isn’t going to stop. But no, we need to rehash the conversation they had in Murdock v. Nelson (which is my favorite episode of S.1, btw) because Matt just doesn’t learn. Foggy is justifiably upset with his partner, but it comes off as annoying.
Whenever Matt is an asshole, Foggy ends up being an asshole to Karen too, which is garbage. He’s like, “I’m out,” but he is her employer. She’s losing everything after all her sacrifices for their firm. I know she’s always trying to keep things together when he just wants distance from Matt, but both of their lives are crumbling and his mentality is basically, “I can’t deal with you right now, Karen. Even though you helped me get through all of this.”
The fact that Matt thinks he can promise Karen that he’ll protect her when he dodges her calls, lies to her, and ignores her is flat out asinine. And for the majority of the show, she’s just nods her head when he says he’ll protect her. If she doesn’t know that he’s Daredevil, the only frame of reference she has is him letting her stay at his apartment (which wasn’t attacked, so I guess that counts), and him telling her she needs to be more careful. But seriously, how does he even think he’s protecting her? He was ok with her going with Grotto, who was being hunted (not his fault, but a good example of failing to protect her), then her apartment is shot up. He straight up failed at what he promised (with the exception of the DA’s office) and those are only season 2 examples. I know he’s human, and he can’t be everywhere, but quit acting like you BELIEVE you’ll protect her, Matt!
He was finally willing to go off with her into protective custody - to which I was like, “YES,” even though I feel like it was uncharacteristic of him. How long would he have stuck around if she’d let him? He could have been doing this the entire time. Thank God she told him that he wasn’t hers to protect in the end. He needed that rude awakening.
The Trial
Why would N&M let Frank wear the orange jumpsuit during the majority of the trial when they knew he needed to be humanized? They never would have done that in a real courtroom. Also, there was no way Castle was going to be a good boy and give a good testimony when he thought he was justified and LIKED killing everyone. That was a bad call, Karen. He can’t use his sex glare on the whole courtroom.
Frank was annoyed about the PTSD argument, but they should have explained that his PTSD didn’t stem from the war. He saw his family butchered in front of him, was shot in the head, and was almost murdered after surviving all of that. You don’t think you have PTSD? You think going on a murderous rampage and enjoying it is normal? There’s clearly something wrong with you, bro. And if you don’t see that, there’s the proof.
I want Matt to be a decent lawyer with ever fiber of my being. But instead, he goes off on this tangent that should have been his opening remarks (if he hadn’t slept through it.) He was testifying for Frank, not “questioning the witness.” How did Samantha Reyes let that slide?
I cringe every time they say they could “win this.” Like, how? He still killed dozens of people. Do they mean that Castle would be put in a mental institution? Is that winning?
The Villains - I feel like they made the same mistake a lot of superhero movies (and Luke Cage) make, and that is including WAY too many villains. The show felt incredibly disjointed. We have The Hand, the Punisher, The Blacksmith, Elektra and Stick for a hot minute, and Fisk. It’s ridiculous.
This is my biggest issue with Season 2. It felt like they decided to tell an incomplete story in order to set up The Punisher, Iron Fist, and the Defenders.
The Hand
had been around since season 1 and I STILL don’t feel like I have a decent grasp of what they are/why they’re doing what they’re doing. They should have just been thrown in during the last episode, because that’s how much information I felt like I got after 9 episodes.
Even with Iron Fist, I feel like the Hand was barely explained. Now it’s also some cult that good people get swept up into (but when they try to leave, the people who cared about them are instantly willing to drain their bodies of blood and fight them… sure...) I feel like Matt whenever Stick talks about the Chaste. Annoyed and in disbelief that it even exists.
Somehow the enormous hole situation is enough to pull Matt back in? He’s like, “I’m not helping you anymore, Elektra. Oh wait, there are giant holes in Manhattan. Ok, I’m in.”
Why are centuries old trained ninjas such terrible fighters? They don’t even seem like real bad guys. They’re expendable and they suck.
I feel like the real reason the writers had the Hand kidnap all of the people that DD had saved was to give Karen a reason to be potentially thankful when Matt reveals his alter ego. Also, why in the hell was Turk kidnapped when DD beats him up regularly? He is not one of the victims of the criminal element of Hell’s Kitchen, he IS a criminal.
The Punisher
His introduction - which, honestly, I still loved because it gave me chills, but it doesn’t make much sense. If he has this code, why would he shoot up a hospital? If he is such a marksman, why didn’t he just wait until he caught up to him and shoot him? But no, he has to use a shotgun in a hospital to chase a dude who is being protected by an innocent woman so that he looks scary. That’s the only reason.
How in the hell did the Punisher have the resources to find Grotto when he was given an alias and the police didn’t even know?
I feel like the conversations between the Punisher and Matt were some of the best acting on the show, but the Punisher won most of the arguments. Also, Matt tries to get on his level by acting like he understands the struggle of a war vet, which really pissed me off. And if DD told me that the men who killed my children IN FRONT OF ME deserved justice… Let’s just say the Punisher seemed pretty damn patient in that moment.
Also, Matt. You literally throw billy clubs at brains. Those men are brain dead. You have no higher ground to stand on.
The relationship between Karen and Frank. She doesn’t trust him, then she does, then she doesn’t, then he saves her and she trusts him again. Then this conversation happens:
Karen: The Blacksmith already tried to get me once, I really don’t want to give him a second chance.Frank: He’s not going to get it.Frank (under his breath?): Except I’m going to use you as bait a few minutes later, and technically his people will be shooting at you, but you know, you’re safe, or whatever.
Also, if she were in protective custody, why wouldn’t the police go into the elevator? Does “we’ll be right outside” mean they’ll be “right outside” the hotel?
The Blacksmith
Felt like an afterthought. Frank Castle’s family dying at a drug bust for the Blacksmith was so ridiculously coincidental. And why in the hell would the Blacksmith help him at his trial if he’s coming after everyone involved in the deaths of his family? He was the only positive element of Frank’s trial, but he could have easily said no, and his problem would disappear. He acts like he owes a debt to Frank, and then tries to kill him.
The Punisher and the Blacksmith should have been combined into one season and everything else into another. But since season 3 is happening two years after season 2, I guess this is the crazy way they decided to do it.
Elektra and Stick
Maybe you don’t think that they were villains here, but they were certainly problems that took up multiple episodes. Stick turns on on Elektra… Why? Because she chose Matt instead of him? And then Matt just jumps on his side when she justifiably attacks him. Hey dude, your douchebag sensei:
Abandoned you as a child.
Sent Elektra to ruin your life in college.
Has a completely different code than you, and never keeps his promises. You literally can’t trust him.
Tried to kill her because she wasn’t a good soldier - just like you. And you don’t ask questions?
I need to end this by saying that I still like season 2, it was just super flawed. I like Elektra and the Punisher. I like that Karen steps away to become her own person. I like Foggy showing he doesn’t need Matt - even though it breaks my heart and if I had a choice I would pick Matt being a decent person instead. And I loved the Karen/Matt storyline until they just gave up on it.
