When he was six years old, his father walked out on their family, leaving him to fend for himself and his brothers as their mother had become addicted to hard drugs and alcoholism and did nothing to care for her three young sons, going as far as to taking out her anger on them daily. Hyunbin became the sole parental figure of the three, and growing up, he made sure that he and his brothers had nothing less than what they needed. Meanwhile, he was scouted by Yuehua Entertainment in 2012 at the age of fifteen and trained for two years, and as soon as he graduated from high school in 2014, he debuted in the boy group UNIQ. M: In the beginning of this year, I had the opportunity to do Arashi Radio special with Sakurai-kun. That time, it's been a while but he said, let's go for a meal. So I said, sounds good, let’s go! What did I say again? I think, I said, Wednesday. He was like, which day are you free? So I was like, {Wednesday} is free! It was like, in that case let’s save the date then we went. The two of us ate together… what did we talk about again? We didn’t talk about anything important. When was it, he went with Aiba-kun for snowboarding? Skiing? Something like that. But when they met up in the morning, there was somebody else. When he looked closely it was Kotoge! He told me that happily before talking about it on variety. It was memorable. That kind of small talks with no real content. We had a meal together, then we took a bit of a leisurely stroll outside. We were like, we really ate, huh… Then we said bye and went home.
M: About Nino, it’s his birthday recently, I think I had filming that day too, so I messaged him in the afternoon, like congratulations. It’s the last year of our thirties so let’s end it well, I sent a message like that.
M: As for Aiba-kun, recently… his stage play, right? I went to see his stage play. It seemed like it was tough! Did you guys see it? Well, maybe not all of you was able to see it since it’s in Tokyo and all. On Arashi’s Voyage, I think there’s a talk scene with Miyata Keiko. Aiba-kun said that time, he didn’t think he’d have the chance to do it. It became a reality so fast. When I asked him how was it? He said, it’s tough! It It’s a lot of pressure, in a good meaning. You get pushed hard to do it. Lately there’s no experience like that, right? He’s like, it’s very tough but I’m really glad.
M: Oh, that guy, huh. The oldest son! Recently, we only talked via texts. As to what it was about, it’s a genre I’m not good at. I was like, do you have recommendations? Then he sent me 5-6 things, like, I recommend this one, and this one, and this one. When I asked him if he was doing well, he said he caught a cold. So I was like, please rest. I was like, I’m sorry. That kind of conversation. Please take it easy, kind of like that. So it isn’t like we don’t keep in touch. Everyone in Arashi is more or less like this.

M: I heard about Sakurai-kun writing rap lyrics for KAT-TUN. Was it when we ate together… No, I think it was before that. Year-end? Beginning of the year? No, it was at the beginning of the year, the day after we went eating, it was the day of KAT-TUN members' recording. He said something like that. Not the KAT-TUN version, but the version Sakurai Sho sings, he sang it for {KAT-TUN members}, the temporary version of the rap. I feel like I listened to it. I was like, hey, hey, this is a nice groove!

M: About Sakurai-kun. Is he doing okay? About two days ago, he messaged me. I thought talking through the phone would be faster, so I said, is it okay {if I call you} now? He said it was okay so I called him and we talked for a bit. He sounded lively. When I asked him if he was okay, he said something like, surprisingly, I'm okay.

Nakajima: The first time I ever stood on the Tokyo Dome stage, it was for an Arashi concert.
M: Eh? When?
Nakajima: It was... in 2008.
M: If it's 2008, then it could be Time or Dream-A-Live.
Nakajima: I suppose so.
M: Was it when Sakurai-kun broke his bone?
M: He didn't break it? He broke it in a Tokyo concert.
Nakajima: It broke? During the concert?
M: Was Tokyo after he broke it?

S: Matsujun... Matsumoto-kun did a video live stream recently, right? I thought, that guy is really amazing. How should I say it, his consideration... I thought, he's a kind person because when he starts shooting for the taiga drama, he loses the chance to appear on media for half a year or so, so that's exactly why he wanted the fan club members to see his face. I thought, he’s such an amazing person.

S: Was it the day before yesterday? I moved to a new place. Don't you usually have cardboard boxes you leave unopened? So, I opened it. Then, I found things from 2010 or 2011, around those years. Ah, wait, am I wrong? Was it 2008? Well, whatever. At any rate, it was during the Beijing Olympics --the first Olympic I had the chance to take part in was the Beijing Olympics-- I found notes I used for the Beijing Olympics, Sochi Olympics. So I have them! They're not lyric notes but memo... I'm sorry I'm going off topic but... Then, various photographs emerged. The last group photograph from Arashi no Shukudai-kun, with the staff too. Everyone is in the picture but only Matsujun's face is gold because it's covered with gold powder. Everyone is normal-looking and only Matsujun… I think he was doing the Curse of the Tuthankamun. I was like, what the heck is this? So, I took a picture of it. Then there's another one, "2011 Purikura" is written on it. It’s a small envelope. That one is also maybe, Arashi-chan... It was maybe taken on Himitsu no Arashi-chan... A two-shot purikura with Matsujun appeared! It was quite funny so I sent the group picture where only Matsujun's face is gold-colored and the purikura photograph. Then, I received a reply from Matsujun, while wearing that warrior helmet and armor, that is, using a smartphone, he took a picture of himself reflected in the mirror wearing a warrior helmet and armor. He said, "Battle ongoing." (Laughs) I'm sorry, but... So I was like, "Sorry, sorry! Battle ongoing? I'm sorry." What kind of conversation was that. Wearing a warrior helmet and armor but using a smartphone is funny... It must be tough. I’m sorry.
In 1997, Aiba made his drama debut portraying Akira, one of the many children left to survive in a city under government lockdown after a mysterious disease wipes out all the adults, in the drama Bokura no Yūki: Miman Toshi ( ぼくらの勇気, Our Courage: Miman City). He portrayed a young man hovering over life and death due to a violent traffic accident. Īiba reunited with director Keiko Miyata ( 宮田 慶子, Miyata Keiko), who has been the director for his stage plays since 2005, and took on the lead role for Kimi to Miru Sen no Yume ( 君と見る千の夢, The Thousand Dreams I Dream With You), which ran from May 5 to 24, 2010.
FREETER VOLLEYBALL MANGA MOVIE
In early 2008, Aiba was given the lead role of Colin Briggs in the stage play called Greenfingers, which was adapted from the movie of the same name. It was the first stage adaptation of the 1993 film Untamed Heart. In 2007, Aiba portrayed Adam, a shy young man with a heart defect, in Wasurerarenai Hito ( 忘れられない人, Unforgettable Person). In 2005, Aiba took up the lead role of Keiji Takashima ( 高島 啓治, Takashima Keiji), a naive but honest station attendant living in a world after a World War III nuclear war, in Tsubame no Iru Eki ( 燕のいる駅, A Station with Swallows). Acting career Stage Īiba began acting in a 1997 stage play based on an American coming of age film called Stand by Me with future bandmates Jun Matsumoto and Kazunari Ninomiya. Aiba also used to play the saxophone however, due to the collapse of one of his lungs in 2002, he was forced to stop playing due to the operation he had to undergo. For his solo song "Hello Goodbye", Aiba played the harmonica portion of the song throughout Arashi's Arashi Marks 2008 Dream-A-Live and Arashi Marks Arashi Around Asia 2008 concert tours. In collaboration with the other members, he has written the lyrics to "Fight Song" and "5x10". Music career įor music-related releases and activities as a member of Arashi, see Arashi. Wanting to play basketball with them, he sent in the application to join the talent agency himself, without exactly knowing what the agency specialized in until the day of auditions. Prior to joining Johnny & Associates, Aiba watched a program called Love Love SMAP ( 愛ラブSMAP, Ai Rabu SMAP) and saw SMAP playing basketball on television. Aiba was raised by his grandparents until he was four years old because his parents were busy running their newly opened Chinese cuisine restaurant then. He has a younger brother who is four years younger. Other than saying that he would wait, Tego did not hide his possessive eyes.Aiba was born in Hanamigawa, Chiba as the first child of his family. It was the first time in his life that he had ambitions other than swordsmanship. “Even though I knew at first that you didn’t see me as a real man”Īfter discovering his shocking secret, Aine felt her heart explode, as if she wanted to stay still. I’ve read novels that have been changed halfway, but this is the first novel where the character’s gender is changed. “At first I thought it was good that we became friends”Īine quickly swallowed the saliva down her neck. As of now, I’m pretending to believe he’s the most sophisticated manhood ever, but what is he supposed to be a real man? But perfect from bottom to top. So, I entrusted my body to nature, just like that, day by day.īut I don’t know when I became the fiancée of the female lead disguised as a male. What about my role? what should I do now?Ī.: Don’t stay here and mess with your brain. Q.: The person who appears in front of me is currently the female lead in the original but is in a state of disguised as a male! She replaced her twin brother who died in an accident.

WHAT SHAPES MY SOUL (NASU KINOKO, ON IKUHARA KUNIHIKO)
—How did you first encounter Ikuhara’s work?
Nasu: My first Ikuhara work was “Revolutionary Girl Utena”. As a creator in my forties, the media I experienced from my teens to my twenties has left permanent scars on me. The first shock I experienced was “Neon Genesis Evangelion”. It had everything that appealed to me, so I naturally took both damage and influence from it. While I was still reeling from “Eva”, along came “Martian Successor Nadesico”, and then “Utena”. I was assaulted by a barrage of brilliant, highly charismatic anime in those days.
—What was your impression of the first episode?
Nasu: My friends (all men, naturally) kind of reflexively rejected it: “What the hell’s with this artstyle?!” I was used to shoujo manga, so my first impression was “I like these character designs. But I guess it’s true that they’re a bit too aesthetic for anime…” I wasn’t too resistant to it probably because I loved Takemiya Keiko’s “Toward the Terra”.
But once I actually watched it, it wasn’t the artstyle but the subject matter itself that was in a completely different cultural field, and I couldn’t wrap my head around it. And yet I couldn’t help but watch it again and again. Behind the aesthetic and abstract world it presented at first glance was something very sensitive and allegorical. From its very first episode, “Utena” boldly opted to take things that normally the viewers would demand to have explained to them and express them while remaining abstract.
—”Express them while remaining abstract.”
Nasu: Yes. “Utena”, “Mawaru Penguindrum”, and “Yuri Kuma Arashi” all have something definitive at their core, and it’d be possible to definitively state “this means such-and-such”. But once you say that, it’s all over. If you turn to someone who’s struggling with something “abstract” and tell them your own subjective conclusion, all you’ve done is push someone else’s viewpoint on them. It’s very difficult to convey an image while keeping it as-is. Communicating abstract concepts while keeping them as such is something Director Ikuhara has been doing since back then.
“Utena”‘s dialogue was sensitive and abstract, but the direction and art were all so vivid. The imagery of the shell representing the world was so powerful, it was like I’d seen an amazing work of art—that may be an exaggeration, but that feeling overcame me when I watched the first episode, and it got me hook line and sinker. The “Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku” stock sequence played, there was a battle, the ending theme played, and I thought with certainty, “This is a masterpiece. But it’d probably be impossible to explain how amazing it is to ten people and have all ten of them understand.” I think now that the people who hold this work in their heart forever are either the female viewers who likely share the same gender-related hardships, or the people who think “I want to create something, I want to express something”. Once you’ve been shown something like this, you can’t ignore it. It felt like peeping on someone’s secrets, like I’d seen something I shouldn’t have.

About what each member does during concert that makes your heart throb:
M: Sho-kun is always bringing a speaker into the concert greenroom and plays some music. The songs he chooses are the ones that will make everyone feel good. I've never made sure whether he purposely chose them for us but they are good background music in the greenroom. Last year, was it Michael Jackson's song?

From VS Arashi 2018/11/01:
Kitagawa Keiko who was the plus one guest mentioned that Sho was the Arashi member she interacted with the most. Especially during Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de, they saw each other so much that she was probably sick of it.
S: Around Candle Sho period, right? Around that time.
This time she mentioned that he has a sense for music.
Keiko: It was probably after the candles were no good anymore...
M: There's a continuation for Candle Sho?
S: This is a guess but is that perhaps Speaker Sho?
Keiko: (Laughs) That's right!
Haruna: Speaker Sho?
S: Go ahead.
Keiko: In the room where everyone had their make-up done, he always played some music...
M: DJ Sho, right.
Keiko: That's right! He matched it with our mood, for example, the scene we were going to take after that. I remember it helped me a lot.
S: Do you know why that DJ Sho disappeared during {the shooting} for the movie?
Keiko: Why did he disappear?
S: About that, when I entered the room, Takenaka Naoto-san was having his make-up done, and he had this very good quality speaker, so I hid mine away.
