I remember nothing and time has no meaning WAIT I’m gonna say Kelly Marie Tran bc she’s adorable and I love her

I’m... not big into shipping tbh and again my memory ditches me bc I dont remember getting into a lot of new stuff this year? I watched FMA... I’m watching B99 rn... also I tend to hold fandoms at arms length bc fandom wank

38. What was the best moment of the year for you?

I’m gonna be a sap and also specifically address this to you Nic, and say its a tie between being drunk in the ocean in south carolina with Molly and also when we saw Coldplay. Tbh 70% of my enjoyment of that show was just watching you and your face light up when the show started and just how fucking HAPPY you were.

50. What do you wish for yourself?

I think everyone wishes happiness but I could also use some ding dang stability

5. Do you believe in aliens or ghosts?

Yeah. I like to believe anything is possible, and especially in the case of aliens, it’s impossible for me to believe there aren’t other living things out there. Our planet, the only one in the universe with life? In that sense, I have to believe in them. Ghosts I’m a little more skeptical about, but only a little. I think they could exist.

10. What is your current favorite song?

I think Dango Daikazoku and you will be two of my favorites forever, but currently, I guess Shelter has been important to me.

13. What TV show would you recommend for everybody to watch?

Everybody? Hmm...probably FullMetal Alchemist. I feel like it’s got the widest appeal and is just generally really good. It’s also one of the only shows I don’t see a large amount of unnecessary hate towards. Some of the best shows have people that really hate them, maybe because of over saturation or something. FMA is considered worthwhile by most, so it’s easy to recommend.

37. What was the last book you read?

That’s a very good question. I have no idea. I haven’t read any books in so long because I’ve just been too tired.

39. What musical instruments do you play, if any?

The violin. I’m way out of practice, but I played it all through middle and high school. I just need my violin to be fixed up before I can pick it up again.

42. What superpower do you wish you had?

Telekinesis above all else. It’d make life so much easier for me.

46. What is your favorite drink?

I like...so many drink. Too many. Cannot choose.

50. Have you ever been to a concert?

Yes, actually! I went to a Kelly Clarkson concert awhile back. The one right before she revealed she was pregnant, where she stopped singing Breakaway to hold a baby. Pentatonix opened for her.

55. Are you scared of the dark?

Nah, I usually prefer the dark. Too much light gives me a headache.

66. What is your favorite genre of music?

Probably indie and folk. I enjoy some new age stuff and soundtrack music and such, but those two are my favorites.

68. Do you read comic books?

I read manga sometimes, but I struggle with the style of Western comic books.

88. What is a place that you’ve never been to, but you want to visit?

There are some places in Japan I never got to visit. Especially the southernmost islands. There are some really pretty forests there.

the live action one piece works cause it not only had the creators involvement in it, but also knew it was silly and campy and leaned into that and tried to make that more realistic rather than making the story realistic

sorry to bother you but what's the difference between fullmetal alchemist and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood? i know there is one but idk what it is and i've been thinking of maybe starting watching but idk which one is The Good One

it’s no bother!

FMA came out in 2003 when the manga was still being released, so it follows the manga closely for the first 20(ish) episodes and then branches off and does its own thing with its own unique ending. (if you watch fma, make sure to watch the Conqueror of Shamballa movie afterwards bc that’s the actual ending!)

Brotherhood is a reboot of the anime that is meant to follow the manga more closely! it came out in 2009 and has the ending that Arakawa (the manga authoer) wrote, and it’s super awesome because many many of the voice actors from the original anime came to reprise their roles in this one as well (speaking for the dub, that is. i haven’t seen the sub yet so I couldn’t tell you for sure).

and I can’t say which is The Good One necessarily because they’re both really good for different reasons! so it depends on what you’re looking for. 03 FMA, from what I remember, is pretty dark and almost spooky at times. 09 Brotherhood is the Found Family (TM) trope times a thousand. 03 FMA explains alchemy in a much more detailed way that might make it easier to understand the science behind the series. 09 Brotherhood has lots and lots of new characters. there are pros for both!

my personal favorite is Brotherhood, so I’m gonna recommend that one really highly since it happens to be one of the best anime of all TIME, but that’s all just my opinion. in the end, if you like the first one you choose you’ll probably end up watching the other one anyway. and they’re both on Netflix again so it’s super easy!

Episode 480 - Mr. Jeff Kelly

Mr. Jeff Kelly is a martial arts practitioner and instructor of Taichi and FMA. Mr. Kelly is the founder of the Xilin Martial Arts Center in Oregon.

I have been without a teacher for 30 years because of where I live and my financial state didn't enable me to get another training. So no one showed me what these applications are but I discovered on my own a lot of the applications. What's fascinating is that to be effected, they have to be done exactly as done in the form.

Mr. Jeff Kelly - Episode 480

Our guest today came to the martial arts because of two words: Billy Jack. Right after watching the film, Mr. Jeff Kelly and his friend went to the only dojang in their area. Refusing to stop his training, Mr. Kelly went on to clean the dojang because he has no money to pay for his training. Eventually, his passion has brought him to many places and enabled him to train on different disciplines such as Filipino Martial Arts and  Taichi. Mr. Jeff Kelly has a lot in store for us so listen to learn more!
