Wrestlers meet Amit Shah; To stay united, wrestlers to hold own mahapanchayat soon, Bajrang Punia

The wrestlers put forward their demands before Amit Shah who assured them that the probe will be impartial, a source told TNIE.

NEW DELHI: India’s top wrestlers, who are protesting against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the sidelined chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, met Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday night.

It is learnt that Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik along with two-time World Championships medallist Vinesh Phogat had a meeting with Home Minister Shah at his residence in New Delhi. The meeting lasted for more than an hour, sources told TNIE.

“The meeting started at around 11 PM. It continued till midnight. The wrestlers put forward their demands before Shah who assured them that the probe will be impartial,” a source in the know things told TNIE. Notably, the wrestlers met Shah in the past as well.

A day before their march towards the new Parliament on May 28, Sakshi, along with her husband Satyawart Kadian and a few Khap leaders, had met Amit Shah. However, the meeting could not fetch desired results as wrestlers tried to breach the security cordon put in place at Jantar Mantar the next day. The Delhi police later detained all the protesting wrestlers and even registered FIRs against them. The protest site was also cleared barring the grapplers to return to the place to continue the protest. “Wrestlers once again demanded immediate arrest of Brij Bhushan but the Home Minister told them that arrest could only be made by police after completion of the investigation,” added the source.

Wrestlers’ mahapanchayat

Meanwhile, a mahapanchayat was held in Mundlana, Sonepat (Haryana) on Sunday to express solidarity with protesting wrestlers. Bajrang attended the meeting. Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad, Bharat Rashtra Kisan Samithi’s Gurnam Singh Chaduni and others also attended mahapanchayat.

Speaking on the occasion, Bajrang urged the Khap leaders and farmer organisations not to hold multiple mahapanchayats. “Bajrang said these panchayats are sending wrong messages and developing a perception that the wrestlers have been pushed to the background. He instead announced that the wrestlers will soon hold a mahapanchayat to discuss the future course of action,” said a source who attended the mahapanchayat.

Referring to their earlier plans to immerse their medals in the Ganga river, Punia said: “These have left our wrestler sisters and daughters broken. We will hold one mahapanchayat and will give a call for that. We will decide on the venue. We want to bring everyone together for that panchayat, we don’t want us to be divided.”

He said their battle was not for any particular caste but for honour and respect. “If we remain divided, we cannot win.”

NEW DELHI: The protesting wrestlers, who have been demanding the arrest of former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, on Tuesday indicated that they may take their agitation to Ram Lila ground to make it a “national movement”.

India’s top wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold winner Vinesh Phogat, have been protesting at Jantar Mantar here for the last 24 days, demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan for allegedly sexually harassing seven women grapplers, including a minor.

“We will discuss it (taking the protest to the Ram Lila ground) among ourselves and will take a decision about it soon,” said Sakshi, reacting to Bhim Army president Chandrashekhar Azad’s suggestion that the agitation should be made a “national movement” by taking it to Ram Lila maidan, a much bigger venue than the current one at Jantar Mantar.

Azad, who had joined the protesting wrestlers at the Jantar Mantar on Monday evening but was asked to leave the venue at night by the authorities, returned to the site on Tuesday with his followers.

He urged the wrestlers to take a call on making their agitation “bigger” by shifting to the Ram Lila ground after May 21, the deadline the khap panchayats have set for the government to take action against Brij Bhushan.

Sakshi, however, did not clarify whether the wrestlers will shift the site of protest to Ram Lila maidan altogether or continue the agitation at Jantar Mantar also.

On Monday, Vinesh said that the wrestlers felt they were being restricted and pushed into a corner at Jantar Mantar and they would agitate at other places.

She had also alleged that the wrestlers were being stalked at the protest site at Jantar Mantar.

While the ad hoc committee formed by the Indian Olympic Association has taken charge of the national federation from WFI officials, the wrestlers have stuck to their demand for the arrest of Brij Bhushan.

Azad, in his speech, said, “Even if you people (wrestlers and their supporters) sit here (at Jantar Mantar) it will not have an effect on the government.

Since this is your (wrestlers’) agitation, we will support you wholeheartedly and not take a decision on your behalf.

On Tuesday, they again decided to hit the streets of Delhi by taking out a procession from Jantar Mantar to Hanuman temple near Connaught Place.

The wrestlers on Monday decided to make their “agitation global” by approaching Olympic medallists and athletes in other countries and highlighting their plight.

Lmao I can’t even beginnnnnnn to describe the clusterfuck that has been Sanjivani since like…. October, but lemme try and break it down in bullet points (if you know all of this already, just skip down to the “three years later” bit!):

Sid who was flirting it up and sexy dancing at a wedding with Ishani till 8 pm, suddenly at 8:01 pm remembers that he has a dead fiancee in his past (plus najaayaz issues) and suddenly starts calling himself a panauti, properly balls-to-the-wall believing in the phenomenon (y’know, as educated, scientifically-minded surgical residents/general medical wunderkinds tend to do! blaming things like their mother’s premarital pregnancy and an older family members’ developmental disorder on themselves!) and being passive-aggressive in trying to ward off Ishani to “protect her” from him.

Passive-aggressive has to be notched up to AGGRESSIVE-AGGRESSIVE coz Ishani’s a dheent who won’t take no for an answer; so he GOES AND MARRIES ISHANI’S BEST FRIEND ASHA, who has gotten knocked up by Aman (who tata-bye-byed outta the whole sitch. Props to him for being the smartest person in this show. He’s probably living an unfulfilled life somewhere, but seemed to come from wealth, so how sad can you really be when you have so much money????)

This whole SidAsha marriage was engineered behind the scenes by Vardhan - who found out that Asha was pregnant and threatened to set her Khap Panchayat from Haryana on her or some shit. He coerced Asha to take advantage of Sid’s “achchaai” by playing on his najaayaz kid feels and take responsibility for her.

Lots of angst and drama as Ishani and Sid struggle with their feels about each other while he’s married to a pregnant Asha, whom he’s pledged his support and name to.

Asha’s pregnancy hormones seem to make her batshit crazy and unable to make any reasonable decisions, and she keeps messing with Sid’s career; drugging him and making him fuck up important surgeries and what not.

All this, again, coz Vardhan. Vardhan wants revenge from Sid. Why? Because dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnn, Sid is Shashank’s son! Vardhan wants to ruin Shashank’s life and thinks the best way to do it is by torturing his kids, and thus is fucking with Sid’s career, and is fucking with Anjali (like, literally. 👉🏽👌🏽👉🏽👌🏽👉🏽👌🏽 Coz sis has daddy issues and reallllllll bad judgement when it comes to men.)

But why does Vardhan want revenge from Shashank???? Damned if we (including the writers) know. Something to do with Vardhan’s Dearly Departed Didi, whose photo he keeps staring at while gritting his teeth. I’m guessing Shashank’s stuck his pen in that inkwell too?

Oh btw, Shashank also confessed his feelings for Juhi, who seemed HORRIFIED at the prospect, but like 5 minutes later is cool with it and reciprocates with her own crushy-wushy feelings? Idk man, idk. It’s all very unclear what that whole plot point was exactly, beyond some vague conversations and ambiguous coy smiles.

Daddy Shashank is disappointed in his known/unknown kid(s) for their various missteps in personal/professional lives. Saare milke inhe paagal banaa rahein hai, yeh chutiya bachchein.

Lots of other miscellaneous fuckery is going on between Sid/Ishani which……. honestly, is exhausting and not worth getting into. Anyway, it’s finally found out that Asha is the culprit behind this dhai mahine ka dukh-dard-chutiyaapa.

Ishani takes a bullet for pregnant Asha, and goes into a coma. Guilt-ridden Asha tells Vardhan to fuck off, signs annulment papers, and finally gtfo, but not before giving Sid a clue about who’s really behind all this kaand.

Vardhan is like lmao, I didn’t need her anyway and goes about paying randomass people to frame Sid for medical malpractice. Ishani literally comes out of the coma and hightails it straight to the police station to save her man. (For the record: I wouldn’t even let a man interrupt an afternoon nap of mine.)

Oh btw, by this point Anjali was like bohut ho gaya and fucked off to go play a Naagin on Colors. Good for her. 🐍🐍🐍

Sid and Ishani start working on exposing Vardhan. Coz appropriate R&R after getting up from a goddamn coma, what’s that!?!??!? JUST SHAKE IT OFF!!!!!!!!! PFFFFFFFT, TAKE A CROCIN OR TWO!!!!

Lo and behold, Dr. Shashank is killed in an accident. (We haven’t really seen him for the last………………………………… like 20 episodes or so? So…. do we really care at this point? Not really. Mohnish didn’t even show up to shoot the dead body waale shots. For the longest time I was like PAKKA SHASHANK NAHI HOGA, FACE NAHI DIKHA RAHEIN, KOI AUR HAI YAAR!!!!!!!!!!! But nope, all the characters identify him by face……… So yeah, egg on MY face.)

Sid’s mummy drops the bomb at the cremation that Sid is Shashank’s son and should light the funeral pyre. A very cool fun appropriate time for Anjali AND SID to find that out!!!!!

Sid and Ishani channel their sads into exposing Vardhan. Hallelujah, finally a win for the unluckiest people in this show. FFS even the little child who got impaled on a rod and Nurse Philo’s daughter with terminal brain cancer have had better lives.

Sid proposes to Ishani. He says he’s been accepted into some program in America and wants her to come with to start a new life there. Ishani is like nope, YEH MERA INDIA SANJIVANI, I LOVE MY INDIA SANJIVANI.

Ishani’s Mama/Mami come for rishta talks and catch the two almost making out in an on-call room and are all hawwwwwwwwww cheeeeeeee sanskaaaaaaar, etc. They turn out to dislike Sid coz najaayaz. And are rudeass snobby assholes to him and his family. Sid is understandably quite mad.

INSTEAD OF TALKING THAT SHIT THROUGH WITH HER, HE DITCHES ISHANI AT THE FUCKING MANDAP VIA TEXT AND FLIES OFF TO AMERICA. VIA TEXT. VIA TEXTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. We are all reminded once again, that Tellywood Men Ain’t Shit.

Except for Drs. Rahil and Neil who have categorically maintained their Very Good Boy crowns 👑👑👑👑 throughout the run of this show. Gold stars to them for achieving the impossible. 🌟🌟🌟

Anjali is a guest lecturer in Germany and may or may not come back to Sanjivani soon, depending on her Naagin transformation schedule.

Rishabh now seems to be a semi-decent human being????? Still a bit of a self-obsessed idiot, but definitely seems to be not as much of an asshole.

Rahil is super-serious and also bitter that his best friend just fucked off to America and hasn’t bothered keeping in touch. No one knows where Ishani is.

Ishani is now some kinda nervous wreck who spends her time doing pottery, but not the sexy Ghost kind. She can’t seem to help a person who sustains a semi-serious injury near her, completely freezing up in the moment.

8 March is celebrated as Women’s Day. There was a time, when in movies, television shows, women were presented as proud mother, sister, daughter and wife figured, was a special liking of India. Ma (mother), behan (Sister), beti daughter), patni (wife)were most loving relationship and person, wearing best traditional attire, governed by elders and traditions, enjoying life in that loving and caring system.

 Women were most important and most powerful symbol of family’s stability and honour and were taught to take care of the family. All this was essential as she was the ruler of family and home be in form of a mother, sister, daughter or a wife. She was like a best management guru.

 The traditional woman or lost behanji was the most important symbol of family and social stability in India. This talent of Indian behanji was a subject of envy world over. Her talent was the ability to mange home silently but excellently. That behan was free of the virus of modernity i.e., indignity, molestation, rape, mockery and what not. This so called free and liberated modern woman had to bear abuse and walk on with life. The beauty of Indian stability was vulgarized by the so called modern, free and liberated woman and today that honour is an endangered relation.

 On Women’s Day, this is a sad reality for Indian women and society too and for dearest behan-free, individual, rightful, all are totally missing. Our rich past gifted a woman to the world, which rejected flashy and naked West, rejected the wrapped Islamic woman, blissful with her modest lot but free from all the worries.  

 So called reforms brought a new avtar; high heels, mini skirts, law waist, law neck attired madam or Ms... After 1990 nation saw reforms in this sector too and created a ‘mod’ version of behan. Now woman became a commodity, an item, to make easy and fast bucks. Industry, aviation, advertisement, IT, Computer, banking, automobiles, clubs, hotels, ramps boomed and zoomed with this new ‘mod’ madam. The impact of the dreams of this mod young woman was boundless and beyond control. Suddenly a new woman emerged out of bright red chiffon saree. She drives life in the fast lane on scooter, car, hands decorated with expensive cell phone and bucks tucked in a branded bag.

 These bucks are her own, earned bay a job in this dark and unsafe world but selling her identity. Now she is the most chased consumer by the market sharks. She is now trying to get lost space, love and honour in pubs, malls, gyms, ramps, live-in-cells.

 Earlier family supported girls but now she is all alone in the cosmopolitans. Now eve-teasing, molestation, acid attacks and rapes are become sports to some in this free and open world. Now she is always all alone always depending for love, care and space on sex hungry boy friend.

 Both notions change the outlook. Even now parents consider them as money minting machines and no concern for their safe settlement in life. As we see in Bollywood, heroine is always an inferior subject than even to an ugly hero.

 Today, look at any young woman any where smartly dressed, good looks, heavy hand bags but a fear and insecurity in eyes and mind. When she reaches her dirty, dingy room, shared by another ‘mod’ woman, there is no one to talk about her day, no one to offer water, no one to love her, no one to shout at her, no one to look at her or looked by her, no one to grow with her.

 Such mod madam would happily sex to find the lost joy but she is all alone broken and lost soul, like the heroine of Madhur Bhandarkar’s famous movie “Fashion” and waiting to meet the fate of unfortunate Parveen Babi. Her life is always for a discount.  

Reforms made Indian women a living commodity misguided, confused, looking for space and support. Before these so called reforms share of Indian woman were 100% economically active at home but outside home they have no voice now and they live in denial.

 Sadly this reality is ignored by intellectuals, academicians, NGOs, women groups, civil society groups and feminists. Now all see reforms as well as woman as good money or bad money and completely ignoring there negative impact on women. Now there are khap panchayats, minority institutions etc., who are also one with reforms and reform Czars in making the woman a commodity to be cased and crushed at will.

 This ‘mod’ modern woman live like “Chaucer’s Wife of Bath,” ends up like “T.S.Eliot’s Daughters of Washer man” and pines a safe and settled life in the strong arms and cozy bed of a loving and caring husband, like “Jane Austen’s Bennet sisters in Pride and Prejudice”. Always remains an incomplete woman.

No ‘ghar wapsi’ till farmers’ demands are met: Rakesh Tikait

CHARKHI DADRI: Asserting that the agitation against the Centre’s farm laws is a people’s movement that will not fail, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday said there will be no “ghar wapsi” till protesting farmers‘ demands are met. Tikait lauded the role of “khap panchayats” (caste councils) and their leaders in supporting the farmers’ stir. Addressing a “Kisan Mahapanchayat” near here, Tikait said the government should rollback the contentious farm laws, frame a new legislation to assure the continuation of the minimum support price (MSP) for crops and release the farmers arrested recently. “There will be no ‘ghar wapsi’ till farmers’ demands are met,” he said. “Yeh jan andolan hai, yeh fail nahi hoga (this is a people’s movement, this will not fail),” he added. Tikait claimed the campaign against the agriculture laws is going strong. With many “khap” leaders present at the “mahapanchayat”, Tikait lauded their role in strengthening the stir. Independent MLA from Dadri and chief of the Sangwan Khap, Sombir Sangwan, who in December withdrew his support to the BJP-JJP government in Haryana, dubbing it “anti-farmer”, was present at the event. Earlier on February 3, Tikait had addressed his first “Kisan Mahapanchayat” in Haryana’s Kandela in Jind. The BKU leader from Uttar Pradesh has been camping at Ghazipur on the Delhi-UP border as part of a campaign by farmer unions against the central laws enacted in September. Tikait said that “khaps” go back to the days of King Harshvardhana and have been playing their role in society ever since. The BKU leader said when the farmers’ stir started, attempts were made to divide it by calling it the agitation of Punjab and Haryana. Seeking to project unity among farmer unions, Tikait said the “manch (stage) and panch (leaders leading the stir) will not change”. The BKU leader, whose emotional appeal recently had revived the protest that was losing momentum after the January 26 violence in Delhi, said people from different section of society were leading and part of the stir. Cautioning the protesting farmers, Tikait said, “Some people will try to divide you as Sikh, non-Sikh but you should remain united.” Tikait again praised BKU leader from Punjab, Balbir Singh Rajewal, who was present on the occasion, for providing a sound leadership to the stir. “Rajewal is our big leader, he is very wise. We will fight this battle strongly,” he said. Tikait also made a mention of the tragedy caused by a glacier burst at Joshimath in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, leading to a massive flood in the Dhauli Ganga river and causing large-scale devastation in the upper reaches of the ecologically fragile Himalayas. “A big tragedy has struck Uttarakhand. I appeal to the BKU family and other farmer organisations to lend a helping hand and assist the local administration,” he said. He urged all to conserve water and plant trees to protect the environment. Meanwhile, taking a lesson from the Jind Mahapanchayat where the stage had collapsed, the organisers had brick-lined the stage this time. Thousands of farmers have been protesting since late November 2020 at Delhi’s borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, demanding a rollback of the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. The protesting farmers have expressed apprehension that these laws would pave the way for the dismantling of the minimum support price (MSP) system, leaving them at the “mercy” of big corporations. However, the government has maintained that the new laws will bring better opportunities to farmers and introduce new technologies in agriculture.
