#Kharmion and Odysseus

Kharmion's childhood Notes:

- They were born to a Nymph (Specifically a Alseid Nymph) and a Farmer. They are the eldest of many, but their siblings are all from their father's wife. They are the outlier, being born from a Nymph. Their father was hoping for a good harvest.

- Because of who their mother is, their step mother and half siblings did not like them. This also swayed their father, and he began to dislike them as well. They spent a lot of time out in the fields with their birth mother whenever they could.

- Their whole family are devout Demeter followers, seeing as their farm is the most influential in Ithaca, so they focus on the goddess of the harvest. Though their father stresses the importance of both fearing and appeasing all of the gods. He is VERY serious about it. He tries to instill fear of the gods into his entire family.

- Their mother, on the other hand, is very casual about the gods. Since she herself is a Nymph, she talks in a casual manner about all of them. As if they were just friends of hers. Kharmion is more influenced by her than their father.

- They met Apollo one day when they were quite young. They were wandering the farthest outskirts of the farm. Apollo was out there with a few of the nymphs, playing the Lyre. Young Kharmion was of course, instantly intrigued.

- They quickly became close with Apollo, since their interests aligned so much with his domains, rather than the farm they grew up on. They became a devotee of his as soon as they understood what that meant.

- They met Polites one day when he was visiting the farm with a young Prince Odysseus. While the Prince was tending to duties, his best friend had wandered off, and met Kharmion. The two instantly clicked.

- Polites would later introduce Kharmion to Odysseus. Ody and Polites became the way that Kharmion would escape the farm when they weren't doing things for Apollo or spending time with their birth mother.

- They helped quite significantly after the Boar incident, when Odysseus got hurt. They were already learning medicine (especially because of Apollo's influence) and they made sure Ody's wound healed properly.

- When Odysseus was crowned at the young age of thirteen, Kharmion made it very clear to him they would back him in any way he needed. They would always have his back.

- Kharmion will sing and dance for Apollo, and on occasion, with Ody and Polites. But they are usually only open about doing so for those they're extra close with.

- They trained and sparred with Polites and Odysseus, and eventually Eurylochus too. They took up the bow and arrow when they were young, and they would often get competitive with Odysseus.

- They were relentless about how sappy Ody was about Penelope when he met her. They teased him constantly, but they also adored how happy he got when he talked about her.

- Since they were close with Ody, they would sometimes learn with him and Athena. Since she saw him as her Warrior of the Mind/General. They don't really like combat, but because of this training they're pretty proficient with it.

- They're an ace shot with their bow. Ody is a bit better than they are with it, but they're pretty close to his level. Mostly because they were always trying so hard to outshow him.

- They had a lot of hobbies. Pottery, drawing, painting, dancing, singing, weaving. They would basically try anything and everything creative they could get their hands on. Especially with the encouragement of their patron.

Kharmion couldn't help but laugh at the incredulous tone in Odysseus' voice... but they also noticed the smirk he was trying to fight off.

"It's my job as a medic to take care of these knuckleheads, Odysseus. If they're not going to be honest with me about their wounds and let me take care of them, I can and will resort to less.. conventional methods."

They look up from the medical supplies they had been organizing through in the Ithacan Camp. They can see the exasperation in their Commander and King's face.. but they just chuckle. Because they can tell he's amused. Particularly as he shakes his head and chuckles.

"They're as stubborn as bulls, Odysseus. Sometimes the only language they understand is threats. Vague or not."

The medic stands up, approaching him.

"By the way, how's that wound healing?"

They gesture toward one of Odysseus' worst ones. One they had tended to and bandaged. They watch with a quirked brow as Odysseus pales slightly.

"It's fine. Healing great."

The man answered shortly. Kharmion immediately knew he was covering something up. They had known him since they were both children.

"Odysseus."

Their tone sounds like a stern parent, almost. They're not afraid to scold even him when it comes to injuries.

"Okay- okay!"

Odysseus gives up, sitting down and letting Kharmion take a look at the wound. He would rather just let them, than bicker with them. He knows better.

The king sat at the shore, letting the waves lap dangerously close to his tail. Sun and cloud gazed down at the mortal, and the sand that graced the webbing between his fingers. At the sound of a voice, he looked over his shoulder with a slight widening of his gaze. "Kharmion.."

Yes, but it takes them a while. They have to really be feeling it to finally seek someone out. When they were very young, it was usually their mother. As they got a little older, it was often Polites. Eventually they would also seek out Odysseus and Apollo, provided the two weren't busy with Kingly and Godly things. Eventually they even learned to trust Eurylochus enough to seek him out for company.

Kharmion, who had just finished checking the stocks of medical supplies for the crew, approaches the Captain. With a playful nudge from behind, the redhead greets their friend warmly.

"Getting lost in the waves again, Odysseus?"

Their brown eyes shine in the bright light of the sun bouncing off the seas. They look more than happy to be headed back home.

𝑶𝑷𝑬𝑵 𝑺𝑻𝑨𝑹𝑻𝑬𝑹

Odysseus stood at the edge of his ship's hull, as it sailed through Poseidon's waters. The skies reflected perfectly onto the sea, the tides washing over each other in repetitive and curly movements. Behind Odysseus, the crewmen were off to work; gathering the trash of yesterday's dinner, cleaning the hull, making sure no man had fallen overboard.. somehow.

The sky shined bright; if Odysseus had calculated correctly, 4 days remained until all 600 men would step onto the shores of Ithaca and rush over to their waiting loved ones.

Yet as the bustling and chattering soldiers walked back and forth along the ship, all Odysseus could do.. was stare at his right ring finger, not acknowledging or staring at the sea or sky. His eyes reflected onto the metal of his ring, glancing intently at the object.

His mind raced with nostalgia.

This is a silly because @bigidiotenergytm 's Ody keeps getting himself into trouble, so my Kharmion ( @greek-sunflower ) is taking him back to his Ithaca and putting him on time out.

This didn't turn out quite how I wanted. I had an awkward reference, so I had to keep altering it.. and then I couldn't color match as well as I wanted to with alcohol based markers and colored pencils. Might clean it up later as a digital drawing!

It hit me at like 2am last night after seeing people messing with Ody on Sky’s blog and it just… happened. They’re pissed but trying to remain composed. After everything they know Ody has been through they won’t hesitate in protecting him.

ooc: So, Kharmion isn’t part of Stoneyarrow’s comic officially. But. I had not been able to shake the thought of “How would Kharmion respond to this?” Since they are intensely loyal to Ody, they would immediately want to go with him. Especially after the loss of Polites. They wouldn’t feel they had much pulling them back to Ithaca.. and in his dying moments, Kharmion had promised Polites they would look after Ody.

So, they’d ask to join their Captain. I think Ody would initially try to deny them, while Poseidon might be more intrigued. Kharmion would argue that this was keeping their promise to Polites.. and endure the transformation to be with their Captain. Besides, Apollo likes Sirens and Merfolk too!
