I know there are discussions about lamp/chandeliers as symbolism for a crown. I saw one on Porsche when he walked through the hallway after being appointed as the head of the minor family in episode 14 as opposed to when he first walked through the same hallway in episode 1 and dodged it. Another one I saw on Kinn while he was standing in his room looking outside the windows when Porsche entered. (Update: this was discussed by @elmindredaniq in this post.)
I rewatched episode 11 for a personal purpose and stumbled upon this scene—another lamp/chandeliers over Porsche's head. In this scene, Porsche was called for a 'friendly family meeting' and was made to confess his love to Kinn. And then, as we know it, Korn can no longer let him be Kinn's bodyguard but instead allows him (and Chay) to live at the house as Kinn's boyfriend.
Somehow, I find it resonated with this similar scene of Pete (briefly) having a lamp/chandeliers over his head when he conveyed his resignation as the main family's bodyguard, to follow his heart (to follow Vegas), which Korn approved. (Update: and this was discussed by @mudinyourshoes in this post.)
I don't know if this counts as parallels, but they are both having their bodyguard assignment off (at the time of the respective scenes). The difference is that one happened involuntarily, while the other was the opposite.
=====================
(I think it's finding the little things I've just noticed upon rewatches like this that make me appreciate the visual storytelling of this series more and more.)

hey so i watched the video you linked in your last ask about the art of kissing and at some point they talk about call me by your name which is apo's favorite lgbt movie and in the video they show a clip of elio playfully hitting oliver and even trying climbing on him and it reminded me of apo always doing this to mile omfg
anon I-- 💀
Here is the interview where Apo mentioned CMBYN was is favorite LGBTQ movie (same interview where Mile said Brokeback Mountain was his). Apo also posted about it on his instagram stories recently.
Fun fact that I've seen mentioned in passing but very rarely clearly linked, the production company White Light did the cinematography for KPTS.
White Light also did the coloring and cinematography for CMBYN. Here's some posts from their Facebook!
So all the coloring details you see in the series that are imbued with meaning? Not imagined. Yeah, Porsche is constantly bisexually lit.
BOC's KPTS really spared no expense on artistic intent for the series.

Fun Fact: If you like the cinematography on KinnPorsche and Big Dragon, it's because it's from the same people who did I Told Sunset About You and I Promised You the Moon
Joy Maneerat Srinakarin - I Told Sunset About You -> KinnPorsche
also did Great Men Academy
Ratchanon Kaeosaart - I Promised You The Moon -> Big Dragon
So if you ever watch these series and think, "Wow, those colors seem intentional" or "Do those chains and bars mean something?", the answer is yes. The cinematography is a character in itself. Instead of watching acting, you are watching the entire series reinforce the acting because the camera movements, angles, placement, colors, lighting, and so much more support the storytelling process.
Sidenote: If you're enjoying the cinematography on The Eclipse, the same person, Suthipong Teerasakul, is scheduled to do the cinematography for the upcoming OhmFluke project 609 Bedtime Stories, which will also have the same director and screenwriters as The Eclipse.

KinnPorsche Ep14 Lines of Power (FINALE)
The COMPLETE Lines of Power series:
[Trailer] [Ep01] [Ep02] [Ep03] [Ep04] [Ep05] [Ep06] [Ep07] [Ep08] [Ep09 Part 1] [Ep09 Part 2] [Ep10] [Ep11] [Ep12] [Ep13] [Ep14 - this post]
While waiting for KP to launch, I watched the trailer dozens of times, and I decided "Why not do a post on the stunning visuals?" Afterwards, I thought I might as well make a whole series.
Since then, I've created 15 in-depth posts and called out 164 unique images to break down lines of power, staging, and framing in KinnPorsche the Series.
Y'all, I have worked my ass off. Now it's your turn.
For the finale, I'm asking you to show me what you learned.
I'm going to discuss ONE image because I've been WAITING FOR IT SINCE EP 2, like daaayuum, finally. The first one's mine.
But for the rest? I'll give you hints to jumpstart ideas, but then it's up to you. You can think about them privately, or you can take whatever images you want, reblog this post or repost them to discuss, break down, explore, brainstorm, have fun. (Please tag me if you create a new post so I can find it?) You can use just one or two images, or feel free to take this entire list of images, or ignore me and use your own images.
And if nobody takes up the challenge, oh well, this will still be a nice gallery. ;)
So, like I said, I get this first one:
I GOT MY THRONE REVERSAL!
The history: I started calling Kinn a king way back during the Trailer, and I've been screaming about Kinn and his ability to make any seat look a throne since Episode 2. The more it happened, the more I started looking for a reversal of that throne visual.
When I say "reversal," what I was expecting and searching for was an enemy sitting on a throne while Kinn was simultaneously shown de-throned and out of power.
However, I'm thrilled with this alternative reversal, where Kinn stands while Porsche demonstrates his solo throne-sitting style for the first time. And hot damn he makes it look good. 😍
Worth the wait. 😉
Okay, friends and LoP lovers. You're up. What do you think of these?
Hint: Camera tilt
Hint: Split screen background, Kinn separated/outside
Hint: Framing, tilted camera
Hint: Camera tilt
(*cries forever*)
Hint: Split backgrounds, light/dark, reversals
Hint: Kim being caged (look back at Ep 3), lines, slope
Hint: FUCK NO, I'M NOT GIVING YOU A HINT FOR THIS!!!
And here's an inspiration grab-bag! Lots of great scenes to choose from throughout the finale.
~~~
EXAMPLE: Even before I wrote this post, @lestrang pinged me about the mirrors in the VegasPete after-credit scene. So there's some inspiration!
what makes kinnporsche sex different from most other BL sex scenes is that they're actually vital to the plot*
in most other BLs, the important character development and conversation happens prior to the sex, or after the sex, and not during it. in most BLs, you could do a tasteful fade to black after the shirts come off and the story wouldn't be altered at all. with kinnporsche, that's not the case. the audience needs to see what happens in the sex scenes because they develop the characters and even the plot significantly.
with the drugged sex, we cant just cut to black after porsche kisses kinn because we need to know exactly what lines were crossed so that we understand porsche's reaction afterwards. we also need to see porsche's emotions-- his joy, his teasing, his bliss, during the act-- to contrast to the blank slate of the morning after, when he is hurt and upset.
and the handjob scene has been dissected to hell and back already but it truly was the best example of non-verbal conversation i've ever seen in any show, ever. it wouldn't be enough just to see the anguish of kinn's apology and his kisses he gives as recompense. we needed to see porsche accept his affection and take control of the situation, signaling to the audience that he forgives kinn and wants to move past the hurtful things they both said.
compare this to cutie pie (no hate on it, it's just recent and has some steamy scenes to compare to). the first sex scene could have cut off way sooner-- probably right after lian asked for kuea's consent for the second time. at that point, it had been established they wanted to fuck, they knew what they were doing, and that lian wouldn't hurt kuea. we had no doubts that it would be a good experience for both of them. seeing that depicted visually didn't advance the plot or the characters. that development happened on the couch before and when they woke up the morning after.
i'm not making a moral judgement one way or another. it's totally fine if shows want to depict pretty boys having sex even if it doesn't advance the plot or characters. it's stylistic choice. but i definitely know which style i prefer.
(*ok some of them. porsche's yok-assisted strip tease was for laughs)
