nothing ever excites me more than a spontaneous genshin, or more particularly, mondstadt discovery. i sat diluc upon the barbatos statue as a nice spot to go afk on without being interrupted by repetitive idle animations and voicelines (sorry diluc, this is nothing personal). my volume was turned up more than regularly by accident, and my in-game music was off despite how much i like the original game soundtrack. aNYHOW- i was about to go afk when i heard some strange noises that i didn't recall hearing in mondt before. it made me pause and turn my volume up even more. in the video above, it's kind of hard to discern the brief sounds over the noise of the wind up on the statue and in mondstadt in general, but when the wind dies down a little, you can distinctly hear voices of people, and what shocked me the most – neighs of horses. i have no clue whether it is just me discovering this only now, after 4 years of playing this godforsaken game and clearly not having paid enough attention to mondstadt's sfx before, but i still felt the need to share this terribly interesting tidbit in case there's other clueless mondstadt enthusiasts like me.

Hi! So I'm in a band and we we have a smoke machine we bring out on stage, and our drummer's Gastly keeps getting inside it and making black smoke. We all think it looks cool, but is it safe? We don't want to get our fans, you know, sick or killed or anything.

A'ight so, the gas of a ghastly CAN induce feinting, nausea, and suffocation, BUT and this is the key point here, this is only the case when the pokemon feels threatened. It is otherwise harmless to inhale if the ghastly is well cared for, looked after and feeling secure and happy.

I'd suggest testing it without a crowd, and checking the toxicity levels in air by hiring or sending off canistered air collected during a test set, and sending it to a Environmental Protection Agency local to you. They may take a few weeks to get you results, and often can offer this service for a reasonable price.

If the results come back clean enough, then i'd see no issue with it. its not like its new to use pokemon for performances, pyrotechnics and visual effects are so much easier to apply with trained team members.

You can buy air quality meters too, which may be worth investing in, to make sure those levels stay low through performances.

If the Ghastly has a good disposition, and doesnt panic or stress during sets, it shoudlnt cause a problem, this is especially evident if the pokemon is not overly powerful or highly trained. even if things go a bit wrong, a low level mon like this will only cause some nausea, not anything more severe.

I'd also run this by your venues owner if you rent out of perform in various loactions, as their insurances may not cover this kind of effect during acts.

Run it by your drummer and his pokemon, and test to make sure this pokemon is calm and sturdy during practice for a few sessions.

Its worth noting if any of you are looking for a counter measure for the toxicity levels, should on the off chance they spike, some koffing have been trained to purify air even before their Galarian evolution. Dotaku Labs have been a cornerstone for training these pokemon for rehoming and work forces, utilising their latent ability to clean air, if trained right. We have a few up for adoption most of the time, and they have wonderful personliaties. We however do understand that not everyone can take up a new pokemon, so its not a necessity, just an option should one of you feel like youre capable of taking on a koffing.

Long story short, if the pokemon is calm and happy to do this, and handles the performances without fear, there shouldnt be any issues at all, as their toxicity only increases when stressed or defneding themselves.

My headcannons for Frederica:

Frederica Gunnhildr(1-12): >9 Frederica I feel was about as any normal child, but I think because she had severe mommy issues she quickly learned that emotions do no good so she resorted to planning her life out instead― <9 Frederica already had her entire life planned out, she had planned every single thing, her ideal life down to the worst case scenarios and what she would do of those occured. At this point in time she had a fascination with becoming the Grandmaster(particularly because that was everything her mother expected of her, due to the fact she couldn't become the grandmaster herself and put those expectations on Frederica in a very harmful way, so due to this she naturally believed if she would get the chair all her problems would be fixed.) so she would develop meticulous plans on how to achieve the chair.

Frederica Gunnhildr(10-23): Broad stages of her life but I'm classifying everything together because this period is when she was trying the hardest for the chair― >16 fred was mostly focused on training and was indifferent towards pretty much everything, she had very few friends, by very few I mean two, Varka and Crepus, yay! Now let's explore her dynamics with them―

VARKA: Fred and Varka have a very complicated relationship dynamic, being competitors for the chair and having an unhealthy amount of rivalry, but they're the closest things to a best friend either of them have and are obviously close whether fredie herself would like to accept it or not.

CREPUS: Her and Crepus are also childhood friends, but they don't have any sort of rivalry because their paths are different from eachother, much of their dynamic comes from small, unplanned hangouts at the tavern(no underage drinking!!) and gossiping about random things over a glass of juice, or wine(when of age).

FVC is what I will call the trio, fvc at around this age >16 got into a lot of trouble, especially the fv part, Crepus atleast stopped them, or tried to. Needless to stay they needed a lot of healing.

<16, a little bit of a turning point because this is when Fredie and Varka started getting titles and started getting assigned leadership roles in the KOF, and at around this time Crepus was also given more responsibilities at the Tavern― This made fvc a whole lot closer because they were all ranting about their workplaces instead of random stuff. This also bought a big change in Fred and Varka's dynamic, bringing a whole lot more unhealthy rivalry in, because both of them want the chair and neither of them are ready to give it up, this made both of them respectively closer to Crepus because both of them have no one else to rant about the other to.

Need I mention I think Frederica was extremely beautiful? And by extremely beautiful, I mean EXTREMLY , the kind of beauty that makes you drop dead on the spot if she was to approach you, Mondstadts bachelor's and bachelorette's were smitten, the only thing that added to her ungodly beauty was how rude she was, everyone in Mondstadt developed a humiliation kink because of her, Fred still thinks it was Gunnhildr privilege and not pretty privilege(it was pretty privilege) and do I need to mention Jean is a carbon copy of her? The only reason people don't drop to their knees infront of her is because she's nice, and all the people crushing on Fred got married, had children, passed down their humiliation kink to the bachelor's and bachelorette's of today.

23 was a big age for Frederica, she lost the chair, tried to jump off a cliff(plan unsuccessful) and got married! I'll make a whole other post specifically for her 23rd year of life and my headcannons for it.

At 23, she gets married out of spite, and at 24 she realizes, hey, I should have a child! So she does at 25, and voila! Jean! Frederica might not have shown it but she was unreasonably happy that Jean looked so much like her, for her it felt like a new start, like she could live her life again, most of her maternity leave was spent just rambling to her baby about the people she hates and what she should do so that she doesn't end up like her.

People mistake Frederica's strictness for abuse, which is not the case! Fred was not a good mother, nor was she a bad mother, she couldn't show affection easily at all, not even to her children, her love language is gift giving, so all of Jean's childhood, Fred got her tiny little gifts every time she would go out, especially books because she felt awkward teaching Jean about morals herself, so she just bought a ton of books with good morals for children and that is where Jean developed her love for reading. Once Jean was 8 or maybe 9, I feel the strict training regime really started, Fredie put Jean through a slightly watered down version of her training routine in the hopes that if she starts early, she'll become better than me and I can live my dreams through her life, this is the reason that Jean feels the need to overwork herself so much today amd this was not a good thing!! But contrary to popular belief I don't believe Fred would ever stop Jean from going out and playing, that one exempt from the game is Jean reading of her own will, seeing the children playing outside and and a realization hitting her that, oh, this is why mother trains me, to protect people like she does when I grow up! Not, oh, I wish mother let me out to play as well! Because there is no longing described in that scene, Jean could olay when she wanted and read what she wanted and do what she wanted, she just had to stick to her very strict regime. Ahem, Freddie isn't the ideal mother, but Jean does not have mommy issues she is very clearly a mommy's girl.

Barbara and Fredie weren't close when she was a child because of the divorce but as Barbara became around 10 or 11 I think her mother would find excuses to talk to her under the pretext of giving her stuff, they still have a lot to work on but even if she isn't the best mother and has hurt both of her children, she really does love them and I think she looks at them like an extension of herself.

Bonus: Frederica loves seeing Jean try on her old dresses, and she can't wait for Barbara to grow up and get the proportions in order to try on the dresses, which is why she will sometimes make miniature versions of her dressed and give them to Barb just to see how it looks on her.

•The last thing she remember herself running to your lifeless body on stage crying, screaming, begging for you to wake up, comfort her screaming at Neuvillettefor not hearing her out, her people for laughing and cheering at your death the guards and Wriothesley for falsely accusing you, her beloved.. onoy then you would get proven innocent

•Furina would sulk in her room bed rotting, you were the reason why she was functioning if you werent there then you will be? No one could get to her without her yelling at them

•When she saw you again, your beautiful face again she was on cloud 9 putting on her usual behavior introducing herself to you again

•She would take you to theaters, cafes, walks anything that made you smile before as she would fall in love all over again smiling, maybe she could finally be happy again

•She brought you to a hill top with your favorite foods, drinks and sweets making it as it could ever be trying to make it to be that your happy enough

•When she confessing shes flustered, embarrassed and also shy aswell, if you said yes she would jump over to you hugging you, kissing your face, hand everywhere staying on your lap feeding you the food she brought to you

•If you said No? Oh dear your funny! Thats not a option Furina refuses she threatens you she WILL make your life a living hell she doesnt care you WILL be her significant other, there is not a NO option silly you..

Why I view/write Kaeya as living an inherently feminine experience

This entire post will be a long string of observations and headcanons surrounding why I believe Kaeya’s story is an inherently feminine experience. It includes canon interactions but also explanations as to why I write him in a certain way in my works. Also, I would like to establish that with ‘feminine’ I am not explicitly talking about gender expression, but more so the societal expectations and gender roles that have been put on women. By this definition, a feminine experience is not exclusive to women only.

Starting in his childhood, Kaeya is described as being gentle and polite by Adelinde (1) whilst Diluc was described as more rambunctious. As they grew up, Kaeya, being the more reserved one, seemed to always stay in Diluc’s shadow (2).

The question is whether this was by choice or something that was imposed upon him. In a way, I think it’s both. To survive, he made sure not to cause trouble or speak out of turn, listening to and pleasing the authoritative figures in his life instead.

After Diluc was out of the picture and out of the KoF, Kaeya was given a completely different role. He was expected to lead now, his previous persona would not suffice in an environment like this. He had to be respected, and in order to gain the respect of his new subordinates, he had to change. He became louder and more visible, he had to learn how to stand his ground. This isn’t only reflected in his personality, but also his appearance. A big silhouette that exudes status with the gold accents and fur coat; it demands attention and communicates confidence to outsiders.

Kaeya as we know him has a very big personality. It’s hard to definitively say whether he enjoys the attention he gets from outsiders. Where does the act stop and his true self begin?

In his hangout, we can see him scurrying away with the traveler once he starts getting approached and praised for his on-stage performance in Port Ormos (3).

From the way he treats the interactions, it seems that he can humor these interactions when needed, but does not particularly enjoy them. There seems to be a dichotomy between the way he presents himself and how wishes other people to perceive him, and his true desires. I don’t think this means that he completely dislikes the way he presents himself. After having played this part for so long, it would make sense that at least part of it melds into his true self, but it does imply that his change post-fight isn’t 100% a case of ‘flourishing into his true self’ as his Vision story might suggest.

On that note, the attention Kaeya seems to get from bystanders seems to be something he does not seem /entirely/ comfortable with. Besides the fan interactions in Port Ormos, Kaeya also mentions in his hangout that he got approached by a group of mercenaries to dance (4).

The subtext suggests they were flirting with him, and whilst it is possible Kaeya genuinely did not realize this, I don’t believe someone like him would be oblivious to the implications of the interaction. He doesn’t name for what it was, plays it off lightly, and moves on. 

(To be fair, you can also take him at his word for this interaction. It really depends on how much you want to believe him. But also, my mans is not smiling in these?? At all??)

Now this goes into headcanon territory but I believe Kaeya is very aware of how people look at him. He’s been described to be eye-catching in his character story 5 (5), good-looking by multiple NPCs, even the traveler calls him handsome (6).

Point is: Kaeya looks good! He knows it, but as we’ve established before, he does not always like it. Despite his own discomfort, he still believes he can use this to his advantage. Because as we know, for him, the ends justify the means (7).

Perhaps he plays up his charm a little because he knows what it will get him, or because people will underestimate his true nature if he keeps it up. 

So for my personal interpretation: he’s ‘flirty’, not because he likes it, but because it helps him get things done. The reactions he gets out of it may or may not disgust him a little, but his sense of self-worth is not enough to stop him from using these tactics to get ahead.

Lastly, I would like to discuss how Kaeya, despite everything that has happened to him, does not outwardly express any of his anger frequently. At least, not in an obvious sense. To keep up appearances and to maintain his image, he never bursts out in anger, shouts, or yells. He is always hyperaware of how other people view him, and being angry is simply not appropriate. He remains composed in the presence of others even if he might want to shout or be angry. 

In short, the performative aspects of Kaeya’s character reflect a very specific part of the female experience to me. Always keeping in check with what other people’s expectations are, not wanting to take up too much space when he was younger but having to learn how to take up more space to gain other people’s respect when he got older, dealing with unwanted attention but not voicing complaints and dismissing them to not make a big deal out of it; these are all parts of it. 

All of this is super self-indulgent so don’t take it too seriously~ Just wanted to justify why I think he gets to sit with the girls :D
