listen you’re 17 so I’m just gonna say that this post, very clearly and explicitly, isn’t about every adult on the internet & I’m not sure where you got that from. but there are a select subsection of adults who do try to use whatever pull or authority they have to influence teenagers whether it’s just for the accolades or whether it’s for something more sinister. and it’s been my experience, & a lot of other people’s experience based on the replies in the notes, that someone claiming some kind of maternal status over their followers is sometimes (& I didn’t say always) an indicator that you’re dealing with this type of person. if someone wants you to trust them immediately & wants you to confide in them & wants to give a whole bunch of young people advice then they’re either caring but a bit overzealous & potentially a bit full of themselves or they might be manipulative or outright abusive. I’m not saying “condemn everyone on sight” but I’m saying be wary of people who want you to trust them deeply & right away.
