for whatever reason, i wanted to share birthday headcannons for my ninjago au (including Hanna). and to go with them is the ages I have each character at the finale of Dragon's Rising Season 2.

i don't have any reason for placement of when someone's bday is, well. kinda? but it's not super major so uh yeah. if I have an explanation, i'll give it. if not, then i don't lol

also, some people have a "chronological" age AND a "physical" age. Chronological age is how many years they've been a living "being". Physical age is how many years old they are on a biological level, including but not limited too: Mental age, Emotional age, Body age, and Appeared age.

Hanna, Lloyd, and Zane, at least for the physical age, don't really matter since they either don't age or age REALLYYY slowly. yk, nindroid and oni/dragon/harmonizer genes and everything lmao.

also minor spoiler warning for Seabound and Dragon's Rising Season 2 obviously.

Kai's birthday is May 19th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Kai is 26 years old. - his b-day is in May bc it's a warmer month and because it includes lots of rainfall. the rain being a connection to his mother being the former elemental master of water.

Cole's birthday is August 25th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Cole is 28 years old. - he just give's August baby vibes. idk why - also, it's confirmed he's technically the oldest ninja, so, he's almost thirty. it is also my explanation as to why he lost against Frak, because he's getting older lol

Jay's birthday is April 5th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Jay is 25 years old. - April is a super stormy month, and what do storms include? lightning!! thus he was born in April.

Zane's birthday is December 10th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Zane is Chronologically 90 years old & Physically 27 years old. - pretty sure his birthday just makes sense. - as for his age, it's because he spent decades in the Never Realm as the ice emperor which impacted his chronological age. but, since he's a nindroid, it didn't impact his physical age.

Nya's birthday is October 20th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Nya is Chronologically 25 years old & Physically 23 years old. - don't ask why she was born in October. i just decided it. - as for why she has a chronological and physical age, it's because when she was merged in the sea, in my au, her birthday past twice making her chronologically 2 years older. but, because she didn't physically age since she was literally water, she remained the age she was before merging with the sea.

Lloyd's birthday is June 22nd. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Lloyd is Chronologically 21 years old & Physically 24 years old. - he's such a June baby. bundle of sunshine this boy. - in my au, he was 11 years old at the start of Child's Play. then, the tomorrow's tea made him become 14 years old.

Hanna's birthday is January 13th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Hanna is 23 years old. - January has some of the shortest days in a year, meaning the sky is black most of the time. plus, it's super snowy (or should be) making the ground white. - her hair is black and white. so. yeah.

Arin's birthday is March 3rd. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Arin is 15 years old. - younger brother energy. - also idk why i chose March i just did.

Sora's birthday is August 12th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Sora is 16 years old. - also gives August vibes. - she's so big sister.

Wyldfyer's birthday is July 7th. Dragon's Rising Season 2 finale, Wyldfyer is 15 years old. - elemental master of heat? bam. you are now born in July.

To begin, I did my best to create what it would be a good portrayal of their ages, looking for any piece of info I could find. Here' s what we got:

Nya is 12.

Kai is 14.

IM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE NINJA'S AGES PLS HELP

ok so the Hageman brothers (the writers since pilot to season 10) said that the ninja were 13-15 in the pilot and Tommy Andreasen said that they were 14 in pilot, the Hageman brothers said that Nya is 2 years younger than Kai, so that makes her 12 in the pilot episodes. the Hageman brothers also said that Lloyd is 2 yeas younger than Nya but since he got ages up he is now her age. they also said that the ninja were 17-18 in hands of time but Lloyd and Nya were 15-16. but they also said that the ninja will never be older then 20.

ok so sons of garmadon take's place 1 year after hands of time, so the ninja are 19-20 but Lloyd is 16 and Nya is 17 in sons of garmadon, and hunted takes place one week after sons of garmadon and march of the oni takes place like 3 or 4 weeks after hunted, so they are still 19-20 and Lloyd and Nya 16-17

(by the way its canon that Harumi was 14-15 in sons of garmadon)

and the Hageman brothers left Ninjago after march of the oni, so that mean that the ninja can be older than 20, right?

at the bingeing of season 11 wu said that its been months since the march of the oni and the ninja lost their skills, so im gonna say its been 8-10 months?

so they are probably still 19-20 Nya and Lloyd are 16-17

and i think that seasons 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 can take place in the same year.

and then we know that season 16 ( crystalized) takes place 1 year after season 15 ( seabound) so they would be 20-21, and lloyd is 17 nya would be 18

so now we have the gap between crystalized the merge

i would say its been about 3 years right?

so in the merge the ninja would be 23-24 Lloyd 20 and nya 21.

and then dragons rising takes place 5 years after.

the ninja would be 28-29 and Nya and Lloyd would be 25 and 26.

and Sora and Arin are 15 (canon), and Wyldfyre i think she is like 1 year younger then the m so she would be 14.

OK! to recap Ninjago! In a decently non-spoilerish way

Season 11, pt 1: The fire chapter. The gang get bored after saying the world from the oni so they set out on an adventure for some fun only along the way they accidentally free and accident Serpentine named Aspheera from her pyramid. Kai’s powers get stolen and Aspheera sets out to get Revenge on Wu. The ninja manage to beat her by finding a second version of her staff, which contains a special scroll called the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu, but only after Aspheera ends up sending Zane to another realm. Aspheera is then imprisoned in Kryptarium Prison

Season 11, pt 2: The ice chapter. Wu plans to travel to realm Zane was sent to alone but the ninja steal his travelers tea behind his back and end up stranded in the Never Realm; a realm trapped in an internal Winter. The ninja then loose their travelers tea to get back to Ninjago which causes Cole to feel a lot of guilt. They then meet the people of the realm and start to learn more about the Never Realm and the infamous Ice Emperor. Some stuff with Lloyd, Nya, Kai, and Cole happen but in the end they manage to find Zane and return back to Ninjago once they clean up the mess involving the Ice Emperor. (note; Kai gets his powers back in this half of the season)

Season 12: Prime Empire! Jay gets sucked into a video game along with many citizens of Ninjago City and to free him and the others the ninja look into the mysterious Milton Dyer but when that turns out to be a dead end the ninja hope into the video game as well where they find themselves in a battle against the villainous; Unagami

Season 13: Master of the Mountain. The ninja get an invitation to the majestic kingdom of Shintaro where they meet the wonderful Princess Vania and quickly find the villainous Skull Sorcerer forcinf members of the species of Geckles and Munce being forced to work in the mines below the Kingdom. When the ninja try to stage a jail break to free they get captured as well except for Cole. Cole, Vania, and Wu then end up falling to the bottom of kingdom’s mines while the Ninja escape and end up meeting the current leaders of the Geckles and Munce and find out why the two species hate each other. Cole meanwhile finds out more about his powers just in time to defeat the Skull Sorcerer in an epic final battle

Season 14 Special: The Island. The Ninja go looking for a misding Master Wu and Misako on an island surrounded by a violent storm only to meet the tribe on said island and find out that they are guarding an accident Storm Amulet. Jay almost gets sacrificed.

Season 14: Seabound. Nya’s powers start going haywire so Kai calls his parents so his mom can maybe come help Nya to figure out her powers. PIXAL and Zane however quickly find out that the thing causing Nya’s powers to go haywire might be coming from a pulse emanating out from sea so Nya, Jay, Lloyd, Zane, and PIXAL take a submarine out to check this pulse. The ninja then uncover the pulse is coming from the villain Kalmaar who is trying to unleash an ancient undersea evil on to land above.

Season 15: Crystalized. To fix a horrible event that happened in Seabound the ninja free Aspheera from prison only for the villainess to join a handful of other villains under the Crystal King who plans to exact his proper revenge against the ninja. Also Lloyd thinks he gets replaced by a plant.

So yeah. That’s what’s been happening. After Season 15 though Ninjago kinda got like, i wanna say a soft reboot and Lego came out with a new show; Dragons Rising which follow two new characters, Arin and Sora, after the events of the Merge which was basically this massive event which caused all of the 16 realms in the ninjago universe to crash/smash into each other and create and entirely new world.

And. Yup. have fun with that lore dump ig lol

Pilots - Tournament of Elements: 1 and a half years

possession - Hands of Time: 1 year

1 year passes between HoT and SoG)

SoG - Oni Trilogy: 1 year

6 months pass between Oni Trilogy and fire&ice chapter

Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu - Seabound: 1 year

1 year passes between Seabound and Crystalized

Crystalized takes place over the course of a month

Crystalized - the Merge: 3 months

The Merge - Dragons Rising: 3 years

And that's where we are now!

So in total, I think around 10 years pass over the course of Ninjago. The 4 main ninja are now 25-26, Nya is 23, and Lloyd is 22, and Arin and Sora are 13-14. That's my headcanon! I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts!
