LO! Persephone's Act of Wrath rewrite.

Notes: I haven't read LO; things might be different because I don't know about them or I just don't like them. This is just how Zeus gets to know about it. Changed Eros' Act of Wrath: Eros' AoW happens 5 years before LO events; his punishment is to give closure to the families affected and to increase the amount of couples formed to make up for the lives lost. After completing it, Persephone meets him and asks him where was he. He says that he was doing his punishment for his AoW, she asks what that is, he explains, and she realizes that she did one the year before.

His work was interrupted by his office-phone. He sighed before putting down his pen and pushing the button.

“What is it, Thetis?” «Someone says that they have an important matter to discuss with you. And no, they aren't in the list.» He groaned, “what do they even want to talk about?” «An Act.»

“Tell them I'm not giving them anything if they didn't bother to inscribe in the list first.” Zeus snapped.

He thought that was the end of it, and tried to concentrate back on his work; but, after a short silence, Thetis voice came from the device again.

«They want to report an Act, sir.» Shit, I need a cigarette.

He supported his head with his right hand and looked down at his over-crowed desk. He pushed the button again, “tell them to be in my office in ten minutes.”

“Ah, Pinky.” Zeus greeted her as she made her way to the guest chair. “To be honest, you are the last person I expected to see today.”

With a hand movement, he made a tea-set appear on the now clean desk, “tea?”

“Thank you,” she answered with a small nod as she took the teacup in front of her.

“My pleasure,” he said, taking his own, “now, if we could get down to business I would greatly appreciate it. As you can guess, I am a rather busy god.”

He took a sip before continuing. “Do you know who did it, or do you just have information of the Act itself?”

“I did it,” she answered. That made him pause, “pardon me?”

“I did an Act of Wrath, last year.” She talked again before he could, “just to be clear, I didn't know Acts were a thing until literally last week.”

He brought a hand to his forehead, feeling the incoming migraine. “Could you elaborate? First of, on how you didn't know about Acts””

“I guess I'm just not well versed in god laws, only in mortal rules; I didn't interact with divine beings, other than my mother, the nymphs and sometimes Hermes, so I never thought of there being special rules for gods.”

“That's…“ That's definitely a problem. Just, a moment, please.” He pushed the phone button, “Thetis, can you ask Athena to find some basic god-law book and leave it on my desk by…” He checked his calendar, “next Tuesday?”

«On it.» She answered after a moment. Thank you.”

“You didn't have to do that,” she complained once his attention was back on her, “I could have gotten some from the library.”

“Pardon the sarcasm, but, yeah, sure;” he replied. “You won't find a basic law book there. Athena basically makes a hobby out of writing easy to comprehend books about anything, she has more than a few law ones too. Just thank her for them, maybe ask some questions about whatever, and you'll be good.”

“You asked for one.” She narrowed her eyes at him, and he responded in kind. After a solid minute, she gave up and went back to her tea.

“Normally, I would ask about the Act’s specifics. But, because this is a self-report —which I wish was a common concurrence— and you have basically zero law knowledge, as a god of justice and order I feel obligated to save the interrogation until you have been counseled by a lawyer.”

“But, wouldn’t that delay my punishment?” She questioned.

“In this judgment, I am both the prosecutor and the judge. My job is to find proof of the Act and it’s consequences for the victims —which is half done with your confession—, and to give you a fit punishment according to the law at the time of the crime.” He explained. “On the other hand, the jury’s job is to determine whether you are guilty, innocent or justified to do the crime the prosecutor accuses you of.”

“Justified?”

“For example, centuries ago, if someone hit you, and you responded with the same action, both would be charged with assault. Even though, in this, you were defending yourself. If the defense lawyer did a good job, they would convince the jury you were justified to hit back, rather than try to deny it happened.”

“Fascinating…”

“Just in case you are wondering, self-defense has been given a place in the law. As long as the force is proportional, you cannot be charged with assault for defending yourself.” He smiled as he took another sip of tea.

“Going back to the point,” he continued, “once we’re in court, everything you have told me about this case can and will be used against you. That’s my job, upholding the law; and the law will always be against those who break it. It doesn’t matter what your feelings are about your Act, your priority will be to convince everyone you deserve the lightest sentence possible. And my priority, to convince everyone you deserve the heaviest sentence possible.”

A few documents and a contact-card appeared in front of her. “That’s the report information, and that is the contact to a law firm. You can look for another if you prefer, but I would recommend meeting with a lawyer as soon as possible.”

A paper appeared in his hand. He quickly filled some information in. “Come by Tuesday to take the law books, you can also give the report if you have it by then. The court day can be set later.” He handed her the paper.

She thanked him and got up to leave. He called back once she got to the door, “oh, one last thing. Do not think of getting cold feet now, you cannot escape justice.”

Lowkey..wanna update the Lore Olympus rewrite I was doing--

Cuz..I really wanna redo that fight Persephone had with Kronos. Cuz Kronos isn't being beat by THAT alone, nor is Athena and Ares gonna just flounder around (and they aren't gonna sob dramatically if she gets hit 🙄)

Like..that was so underwhelming, cuz if Kronos absorbed Zeus like that..he'd be very powerful so-- yeah-

And when Tartarus comes to take him..he's very unimpressed by Persephone cuz it's her fault Kronos escaped and he's pissed that he has to wake up for this shit 💀 Like nah she's not kissing shit on the forehead, she's a problem child--

Persephone Rewrite

Her personality

Kore is enthusiastic, a go getter, smart, and flirty. She's known to be very kind and inquisitive but also has a very dark side to her.

Her fashion

She dresses mostly modern with a splash of traditional, she favors chokers and the colors black and gold. Her hair is worn typically short as she does a lot of garden work, but it can grow out either at will or when she's nervous, she only wears her hair long when she feels like it.

Her background

She's the daughter of Demeter, Demeter formed her out of flowers, meaning she has no father. Her and her mother have a stellar relationship with, of course, the normal hang ups of a mother daughter relationship. She hails from the country but has always been caught up with the world via the Internet. She's friends with Hecate, Hermes, Artemis, and of course, the nymphs that live close to her.

Design notes

I didn't intend on her being black coded, but I went with it anyway as I feel there needs to be better black/brown representation in LO (and that's just according to my pasty white ass). I wanted her to be more sexy and flirty in a more "I'm a mature and sensible woman" sort of way instead of born sexy yesterday. Yes, she's still sort of naive, given she grew up in the country and is adjusting to city life, but she isn't a dumb little damsel. I went with some of her holy colors for her color scheme.

What else should you know?

She uses she/her and enjoys sparkling grape juice. She's vegan, enjoys beer, and likes seaweed snacks. She's also pierced to hell and back, but she leaves her jewelry out sometimes because she blows through aesthetics.

i’m obsessed with hera’s appearances in lore rekindled. it seems like she acts the same way as she is in lore olympus, but it actually frames her like that?? like instead of persephone seeing her as some sort of mother figure or whatever??? idk how to explain it haha. i also loved her recent outfit, and i wanted to try drawing it.

Did it, like, ever occur to RS that by making Hera divorce Zeus, she made her play right into the hands of one of the very women she so despises, Thetis??

Zeus & Hera seperated, just like Thetis wanted. In a roundabout way, her gaddang plan actually worked. Well done Hera, you let the outcome of your marriage fall right into the trap of the "stupid little PA," & "some nymph" who wanted you to leave Zeus in the first place. This is coming from someone who was very much hoping Zeus & Hera would reconcile their differences somehow during the comic, but noooooo, RS had to victimize her "strong female protagonists" yet again for the umpteenth time and the result was a needless *:･ﾟgIrLbOsS*:･ﾟ divorce that felt just as contrived as everything else in the finale.

Everything in the penultimate episodes regarding Zeus & esp Hera made me realize that out of all the poorly written plotlines in LO, theirs eats at me the most. They both have major potential to be very complex, morally gray characters, and there have been so freaking many opportunities for RS to have them redeem themselves. BUT that should only come after they wholly acknowledge their faults and make genuine, lasting changes in their behaviors.

This may sound silly, but I LOVED reading the handful of scenes in the comic when Zeus & Hera were amiable and affectionate with each other. So them having not even somewhat of a happy ending together makes me extremely sad, and I'll never forget what they took from us. ୧((#Φ益Φ#))୨

This is exactly why I decided to create a short spin-off of my LO rewrite comic dedicated to Zeus & Hera's relationship after some rather interesting concepts for a rewrite came (and continue to come) to me out of the blue.

Though it wouldn't be edgy or dark ('cuz I ain't cool, that's a certain genericpuff's job lol), the main focus would be the emotional rawness (Emphasis on rawness o(〒﹏〒)o) of Zeus & Hera coming to the realization that when push comes to shove, they genuinely love each other, all the while striving to right their wrongs and stop the world from crumbling around them (As per the major events in LO).

It obv isn't quite myth-accurate, but as I've said before, my rewrite overall is a reconstruction of all the characters & events in LO rather than the myths. Meaning a lot (but not all, ofc) of the og traits & such found in LO will remain in my comic, but ofc with the narrative portraying wrong as wrong & right as right and leaving room for actual genuine growth & change, unlike the og comic.

Now to actually start putting all this crap together fr, well...

Phew, the holiday break is officially over! Though I did get a few days to truly relax, the last couple weeks have been incredibly busy and exhausting, filled with long drives to see family and other get-togethers for the holidays, all while testing out the next increased dose of my ADHD medication (we're up to 36mg babyyy!) And with my tattoo shop relocating at the end of the month and my seasonal position at my secondary retail job ending... yeah, 2025 is definitely off to a crazy start!

But I'm glad to be back in my element creating Rekindled! It's certainly a constant in my life that I'm happy to have because even when life gets crazy around me, I know that I still have this amazing little project to lose myself in. Thanks so much to those of you who joined in on my stream to keep me company while I blitzed through the rest of this episode <3 I'm so grateful and excited to move forward into another year with you all!
