so first off... laffsickness........

it's generally assumed that laff and toon happiness pertains largely to health, and laffsickness is an extension of that!

there's a lot here so i'm going to put it under a read more to spare y'all's dashes the essay

there are a few general subtypes of laffsickness:

ls-a (laffsickness-atrophy): toons with ls-a have naturally low laff caps. sometimes this laff cap will be stable and stay where it is forever, other times it will continue to drop over time. it is generally considered unsafe for toons with ls-a whose laff cap has dropped below 15 to venture outside of toontown central. toons whose laff caps drop over time are also more likely to develop ls-d! (see below)

ls-d (laffsickness-degeneration): toons with ls-d lose laff naturally when away from the playgrounds. this can affect toons of any laff level, though it's more common among toons with lower laff and pre-existing ls-a, almost like a progression of the disease.

ls-c (laffsickness-combined): toons develop both forms of laffsickness simultaneously. static laff caps are very rare with this form, ls-c almost always has a degenerating laff cap. this form is very dangerous, as it's the type most likely to cause permanent sadness if left untreated.

laff-attacks: these are an honorary form of laffsickness! they act like ls-d, but you begin to drain laff VERY rapidly, go sad, and respawn in the playground. these can be indicative of ls-d, but they can also just happen if toons are under significant stress or for idiosyncratic reasons. toon doctors typically monitor toons who have had laff-attacks to see if they need further laffsickness treatment! toons with laffsickness can also experience something called a laff crash, where they lose laff all at once and collapse. these tend to take a longer time to recover from than typical sadness.

toons who have laffsickness are not without hope! toon-up still works just fine, and there are some toons who have found unique ways of regenerating laff outside of playgrounds. one way of treating it is honeyloop's laff battery! it's kind of bulky, but the laff battery is essentially a charged backpack that can administer laff to a laffsick toon when they get injured or drop laff, allowing them to move about toontown more safely. when it runs out of charge, though, you're on your own.

other laffsick toons have other methods (such as surlee and his portals) and not all of those methods are good. in desperation, some toons with ls-c can turn to greening as a way of deriving laff from schnaudenfreude.

extended or even permanent sadness is unfortunately common among toons with laffsickness.

untreated atrophy-laff cap dropped toons can actually reach a laff cap of zero. these toons are generally bedbound and the only treatment is to make sure they're comfortable before they just sort of... blip out of existence. it's one of the few ways a toon can die for real, outside of getting dipped.

extended sadness has a better prognosis. while these toons do remain sad and ergo estate/playground-bound for the duration of their sadness, treatments such as doodle therapy, artificial laff injections, and just a general strong support system can help them bounce back faster. this can stretch indefinitely, but when this specific condition becomes lifelong, it tends to have less of an impact on their life. these toons can lead generally normal, fulfilling lives helping out in toon hqs, playgrounds, or just... hanging out with friends and family at their estate. it's a harder life and requires more energy and intention behind living it, but it isn't a bad life. toontown has a fairly strong medical support system for toons who are indefinitely sad, ensuring they aren't at risk or on track to have their laff-cap drop to zero.

Naso-duodenal OR naso-jejunal feeds for those unable to tolerate gastric tube feed (recall it is best to do gastric if possible to mimic body's natural eating functions).

Give 1cc of H2O per calorie ingested. Formulas that are 1 calorie per cc are 80-86% water.

Peripheral parenteral nutrition (AKA total parenteral nutrition/TPN -- LAST resort due to the fact that it is like foie gras to the body, with implications of liver issues developing) is via small surface veins, which is short-term nutrition support. Begin tapering TPN for EN slowly, when enteral feeds provide 1/3 to 1/2 of nutrient requirements. When 60% of needs can be tolerated enterally, discontinue TPN.

BEWARE OF REFEEDING SYNDROME (starved cells take up nutrients, shifting K+, phos, and magnesium into the cell, causing HYPOKALEMIA, HYPOPHOSPHATEMIA, and HYPOMAGNESEMIA).

Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) reflects current population needs.

Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) is goals for healthy individuals.

Estimated Average Requiremenr (EAR) assesses group nutritional adequacy.

Upper Limit (UL) offers guidance on safe upper limits for nutrients such as vitamins.

The Network Information Service (NIS) is commonly used to provide centralized user management in the network. When NFS is combined with NIS, you’re able to have file and directory permissions for access control in the network. The default configuration of NFS is to completely trust the network and any machine connected to a trusted network is able to access any files that the server makes available. In Proxmox Virtualization Environment you can use local directories or locally mounted shares for storage. A directory is a file level storage that can be used to store content type like containers, virtual disk images, ISO images, templates, or backup files. In this post we discuss how you can configure NFS share on Proxmox VE for ISO images. The same process applies for any other storage purpose like storage of virtual disk images and templates. In Proxmox VE, storage configurations are located in the file /etc/pve/storage.cfg. Īlthough Smartcat has an in-built CAT tool that helps translators work faster and more efficiently, its reach and functionality are much broader than that of a CAT tool. The main reasons for the separation were that the "translation automation business turned out to be far from complementary to the services of language services providers" and that “some translation companies had been wary of using a service developed by a competitor.” Īs of September 2020, the platform has more than 350,000 freelancers in its marketplace and provides an “app store” that allows users to integrate their Smartcat account with third-party tools. ABBYY LS’s founder and CEO Ivan Smolnikov also left the company to fully focus on Smartcat. In 2016, Smartcat spun out of ABBYY LS to become a separate company and attracted $2.8 million in investments from Ilya Shirokov (ex- CEO at Odnoklassniki and founder of Yandex-acquired social network ). The impetus for its development was that ABBYY LS had “felt constrained by translation technologies that had existed for the last 15 years” and wanted an "intuitive, cloud-based, scalable, and powerful" solution that would let them manage projects with dozens of collaborators, including project managers, translators, editors, and other professionals.” Smartcat was originally developed as a CAT tool in 2012–2015 as an in-house solution by ABBYY Language Solutions, a linguistic service provider within the ABBYY group of companies.

You know, I expected there to be a lot of rancid takes and ableism in my psychology of criminal behavior course but actually it's just solidifying what i already know (with some new information mixed in)

"Findings from the current study bring into serious question long-standing assumptions about psychopathy and the PCL-R. First, hierarchical (second-order) CFA and IRT analysis conducted on a combined sample of 320 participants produced outcomes that were more consistent with a three-factor hierarchical model of psychopathy (interpersonal, affective, lifestyle) than with a four- factor hierarchical model of psychopathy (interpersonal, affective, lifestyle, antisocial). These results lend support to Skeem and Cooke's (2010) contention that antisociality may be more a con- sequence than a core feature of psychopathy. Second, when the combined score for the three-factor model was subjected to incre- mental validity analysis it failed to add significantly to predictions of general and violent recidivism above and beyond the contribu- tions of age and criminal history. This outcome was obtained in two different samples - which had been used previously to test the incremental validity of the four PCL-R facet scores (Walters & Heilbrun, 2010; Walters et al., 2008; Walters et al., 2011) - and did not change when analyses were restricted to White inmates or when summed factor scores replaced summed raw scores as indi- cators. Even if one rejects the three-factor model in favor of a four-factor model, the total PCL-R score and individual Facet 4 (antisocial) score only achieved incremental validity in one of two general recidivism analyses and were incapable of predicting vi- olent recidivism above and beyond age and criminal history in either sample. Hence, the notion that psychopathy is of central importance to the criminal justice system, as measured by its ability to predict recidivism after age and criminal history are controlled failed to find support in this study"

Changes

This blog has undergone a lot of changes. It started as a place to centralize information during the writers strike. It changed into blog in support VOW and all the routes they were responsible for as well as a place to get the latest updates from LS.

When the creative director of Voltage had content removed, it changed again with the focus shifting to exclude LS updates and include more of the fandom, reblogging and spotlighting fan content.

And now the blog is about to change again.

From it's inception, this blog has had only one admin. I ran it (and my personal blog) by myself.

Today I'm very, very pleased to announce that there is going to be a second admin joining me. I could tell you how amazing they are, but let me have them introduce themselves:

i've been pretty active in the lovestruck fandom for the past year or so, and i digest visual novels/otome games like air to breathe but lovestruck has to be my all time favourite~ my top two routes gotta be jett and jd! though, once galen gets more seasons, i bet they'll be up there- as you can see, i have a type lmAooo but i read so many of the routes that at this point theres more that ive read than i havent, so i'll be sure to post about all our favourite VOW routes!

Laredo Part 2 Week 3

First two photos show the underwear donations I was able to bring in thanks to your help. Second pic shows me driving to every Domino’s Pizza in town to pick up a total of 40 pizzas for Holding for dinner last week. Last picture is from an art store I went to yesterday called Milagros which was really wonderful.

It feels like I’ve been here for months, not just 3 weeks. But here we are.

I only have 4 days left, I go back home on Saturday.

Last week I was super overwhelmed and frustrated by everything. The shelters were getting absolutely slammed by a perfect storm of limited volunteers/donation/funding and lack of organization combined with a huge amount of folks in desperate need coming in every day.

The day after my last post I was so completely overwhelmed I couldn’t get out of bed until 4pm. But then I got up and went to Walmart and spent $550 of the donation money folks had been sending me on underwear. I have no idea how many packs of underwear I bought, but it was close to 400 something pairs. I went to go drop them off at the shelter and one of my old friends, Blanca, was there. She had been volunteering the last time I was here back in 2019. She is so sweet and since she is working full time she works in the evenings at the shelter, sometimes until 2:30 in the morning. It was really great to see her.

Also on a different day I got to see another old friend, Aycha, who was working at La Frontera back in 2019. She also has another full time job but spends her evenings and weekends volunteering at La Frontera. It was nice to see some familiar faces.

Also a group of folks from St. Louis came down this week and are working with their church back home to raise money and donations and have committed to sending down a rotating crew of full time volunteers every week for the next month from their congregation. It was so great to have some folks who were enthusiastic and excited and ready and eager to help. It has made such a huge difference.

In the past week we’ve been able to get the entire shelter organized, from top to bottom every single room and cabinet that had been haphazardly thrown together since the border suddenly reopened back in April, we were able to organize every inch of the place and fully stock everything.

I hope it lasts for at least a few weeks.

The other thing that’s been going on is that the number of folks coming through has dramatically slowed. Whereas last week we were getting 200-300 folks a day, we are now getting a max of 30 folks per day. And at Holding Community Center we have gotten no new people, we only have the 40 something folks who are quarantining from COVID for 10 days before they are able to travel. Today for the first time since I’ve been here we mainly got folks from Haiti and Brazil, which hasn’t been the case before, when we were mainly getting folks from Central America.

From what I can tell, there was an individual who made an inaccurate report to a local news station stating that the shelters in town were contributing to an increase of COVID cases and that the shelters were irresponsibly allowing folks who had COVID to wander around town and putting them on flights and in public spaces in town. Which is completely false. But the local news reported on it and the city placed Holding on a sort of lockdown, which means that all the doors and windows are blocked / blacked out and no one besides the guests, staff, and volunteers can enter; which was already the case to begin with but now people are mainly just afraid to volunteer or drop off donations. Somehow also all of this and the news of the amount of people the shelters were supporting got to a Texas state senator, not sure who, and she had ICE stop releasing folks from detention for the weekend in order to give the shelters a chance to catch up? But it is already Tuesday and still folks are being released in very small groups so I don’t really have any idea what is going on.

I don’t think the answer to all of this is to stop folks from seeking asylum or to keep folks in detention; it needs to be increased funding, staff, and resources to these shelters or some sort of state level emergency aid provided for these folks.

Despite the reduction in the chaos and disorganization and the reduced numbers; I am still completely exhausted and am not able to withstand more than 3-4 hours at a time at the shelter before needing to go back to the house and rest for a while and then go back. I don’t know if it’s cumulative exhaustion or if my stamina for being out and about is just lower after being quarantined the last year and a half, or what. But here we are.

I hope to try and post at least once or twice before I leave here; to provide some more background info on the situation down here and to give one last update before I leave.

In the meantime, please keep donations coming in. Both shelters badly need consistent donations and support for the folks coming through here. Everyone I’ve spoken to to whom we’ve given a pair of shoes or clean underwear or a hot meal has been so completely grateful and uplifted. It makes a world of difference.

hi angels !! i’m cami and i realized that the name elliot is usually spelled with two ls after i wrote his bio and applied so we’re just never gonna talk abt that <3 but i’m very excited to be here & plot with u all, info abt eli under the cut !!

dev patel, cis man, he/him    —    whenever i see elliot bhagat meandering down agnes street the adults are talking by the strokes starts to play inside my head. maybe it is the vibe they give off. a cup of hot coffee with just a touch of oat milk, a soft smile in the early morning light, a brief case filed with meticulous notes and a perfectly fitted suit ;   you know ? the roundabout is what keeps them interested in agnes. i heard they are a  thirty two year old environmental lawyer. they look like the kind of person who always tips well.

BIOGRAPHY.

eliot grew up curious about the world around him. his parents immigrated to boston four years before he was born, and by the time he came along they were the proud owners of a successful restaurant. he spent his childhood questioning any customers he could about their lives, the regulars all knew him well. he wanted to know about people, what made them tick. each person’s story gave him a new idea for what he wanted to do with his life. while his parents expected a lot of him, the burden was lessened by being the youngest of three. he could have any dream he wanted so long as it was practical and lucrative. 

by the time he reached middle school the many dreams had solidified under one central tenet, he wanted to make the world a better place. he was the kind of kid who watched the discovery channel and then came to school the next day ready to tell everyone about the latest environmental issue. his passions were wide and strong.

by the time he reached high school it was clear that he was more than a little bit of a hopeless romantic. with each relationship he found himself in he swore he had found his soulmate, burning mix cds and pouring his heart out in journal entries. while he was falling in and out of love over and over again he settled on what he wanted to do with his life, becoming a senator was his goal. a real way to bring change to the world.

his dream led him to university and then to law school. he was always an excellent student, quick witted and well read. school had felt like a sort of dream to eliot, the ivy and stone beautiful enough for his romantic tendencies to thrive and the relief of being surrounded by like minded people was equally engaging. 

he graduated top of his class and was quickly receiving offers from multiple prestigious law firms. he still knew what he wanted to do with his life, but a few years of work first seemed like an ok place to start. as time passed however, he found it particularly draining. he had always wanted to make the world a better place, but what he was doing was far from that.

then he fell in love. not that he hadn’t before, but this one gave him a certainty that it was going to last forever. so a year in he was picking out a ring ( an antique emerald surrounded by ethically mined diamonds ), and a year after that and a month before his wedding when he returned home from work to find a note on the table. she wasn’t ready, she couldn’t do it, their love simply wasn't strong enough. 

that’s when he heard about an opening at a smaller environmental law firm in ilsesbury. sure, it wasn’t quite as high paying as his old job and he still wasn’t anywhere near running for office, but at least he’d be saving the planet. plus the thought of ever having to run into his ex made getting out of town an appealing option. so almost three months ago he packed up his things and moved to the city and taking the job and a small apartment with a view of the water, with a heart that’s just a little less open to love. 

HEADCANONS.

eliot loves cooking and food. he doesn’t always have time to cook for himself as he’s very career oriented, however when he does he savours it. it reminds him of his childhood, growing up in the restaurant. also he was raised vegetarian and became vegan in university. 

he’s an avid journaler and has been for most of his life. he has a pile of old journals on his book shelf.

has always wanted to be a dad, he’s always wanted to get married and settle down and have kids, but each year he gets older that dream feels further away.

tends to live below his actual means, is very frugal. his parents instilled that in him and his siblings growing up, and it’s a trait he very much still possess. he’ll splurge on things like clothes enough to make sure he’s well dressed ( especially for work ) and going out for dinner or coffee. he’s a big tipper, having been a waiter himself through all of high school and his first few university summers in his parents restaurant. but his apartment is tiny, and apart from plants the furnishing is pretty basic.

as sweet as he can be he can also be very very stubborn. once he makes up his mind about something it’s rare that he’ll change it.

volunteers a lot, is constantly looking for ways to help out around the community. 

he has a mostly positive relationship with his parents and his siblings. while they did have high expectations for their children,they primarily just wanted them to be happy and were very loving, especially with eliot being the youngest.

he was terrified to come out to his parents as bisexual, which he did his senior year of high school. while they were a little bit confused at first they were on the whole loving and supportive of him.

he is left leaning politically with a strong emphasis on social and enviromental issues. while his own dream is on hold for the time being, he does make an effort to get involved, doing things such as canvassing for candidates he supports.

he’s a hopeless romantic and has always been the type to write love letters and buy flowers for no particular reason. this also has caused him to have his heart broken one too many times. 

he speaks english and some gujarati, he also took latin in his undergrad but doesn’t remember much of it apart from legal terms and is taking spanish on duolingo 

can very much be a workaholic, can be seen in a cafe on weekends working on a case and drinking a coffee

loves to read and has a book shelf over flowing with just about every genre, particularly inclined to romantic era authors and poets

he was raised hindu but isn’t practicing

( alcohol/drugs tw ) he doesn’t really tend to be a drinker or do drugs, he will enjoy a glass of wine with dinner or the occasional cocktail when he goes out for dinner but it’s rare that he’ll get drunk. the only drug he’ll ever really go for is weed, which he’ll smoke occasionally. probably did shrooms like once or twice when he was younger. honestly probably too concerned with the ethics of the drug industry to do much else.

A LOAD SENSING VALVE Explained

A LOAD SENSING VALVE is a type of pressure sensor that detects load conditions on a flexible body. It is comprised of a resilient annular body 28 with a central opening 30 for mounting on an upper end of a supporting spring. Inside the body 28 is an annular closed cavity 32 filled with an incompressible fluid. As load forces act on the top and bottom surfaces of the body 28, the volume of the cavity 32 decreases. There seems to be a waiting period before C or B start a new relationship. I doubt we'll see B break up with E just to start a new relationship with C. I can't see that happening even though I really want Bellarke to be a thing this season. If they do kiss I think it will be impulsive and unexpected( at least to them)

You’re making shit up. Was there a waiting period between Raven/Finn and Raven/Bellamy. NO. Not at all. Or a waiting period between when  Finn died and Wick? No. Same season. Was there a waiting period between Finn dying and L macking on Clarke? NO a few episodes. Was there a waiting period between L and Niylah getting back into her bed? Not that much of one. The political fallout of Ls death pushed Bellarke back. That’s all. They made a 6 year time jump to deal with it.

And Bob and LIndsey said that Bellamy and Raven would both have romances this season and one of them would have two. That’s BE already on deck (formed off screen, which although you don’t recognize that as a sign of it’s lack of significance to the narrative, means it’s a plot device not a central plot,) and Zaven coming up, while Lindsey has already said that her one hope for romance with spacekru that could already be present (murphy) is siblinglike, so that means there’s not a lot of hope to develop TWO relationships for Raven, while Bellamy has the off screen BE, and the 4 seasons of developed Bellarke and coming reunion and return from the dead of his soulmate Clarke.

Like. What? You think she’s going to come back from the dead and throw his life into a tailspin and they’re just NOT GOING TO EXPLORE THAT?

No development of soulmates for the whole season? No exploration of her 6 years of messages or who they were to each other when they left off?

No. This story is about Bellarke. And where they left off was on the edge of romance, and he thought she was dead and dedicated his life to her memory and she talked to him everyday to keep herself sane, and now he’s coming back and she’s alive and where they left off is going to COME RIGHT BACK.

You don’t believe, because episode 1 was an establishing episode. They put us back into the story to tell us where everyone is and what “normal” is for all the characters.

Clarke went through hell and found Eden and Madi and had peace.

Bellamy and Spacekru have found peace and equilibrium. Raven is a badass. Murphy is an ass. Emori is a techie. Marper is in love. And B/E is a supportive romance that exists because they  don’t know whats going to happen on the ground.
