Spent my day painting this play-castle at a local pediatrician’s office! It took exactly 6 hours of non stop hustling to finish it today

Growing up in Saint Louis Missouri, the Mississippi River is an always present entity. In this piece I am thinking about history as a form of memory through the pathways the Mississippi has carved into the land and the way those bends and curves relate to my memory of life.

Drawing II Assignment #7: Large Scale Charcoal Portrait
Tumblr media
This was the first half of my final for my Drawing II class. The final had two assignments, one in charcoal and one in graphite. This portrait is 30x40 inches. For those anywhere but the United States that's 76.2x101.6 cm. Yes, it's a bit over a meter tall. I had two weeks to complete this assignment. I had to shoot my own reference with dramatic lighting using only natural light (aka, light from the sun). The part of this drawing that ended up being the hardest was drawing the folds on her shirt. The other hardest part was getting the sketch in correct proportions on such a large piece of paper. The face gave me a lot of trouble, I ended up re-drawing it about four times. For scale, here is a WIP of the portrait on my twin sized bed at college

I was looking for videos about over-fishing and found this weird YouTube clip created by A.I.
It was probably commissioned by a PR firm working on behalf of the Alaska sea-food industry, so it keeps talking about how the fishing community is promoting sustainability and creating a positive environment for future generations. While at the same time, it plays real-life clips of massive scale industrial extraction and exploitation.
We commit Crimes Against Nature, and we deserve everything that will happen to us.

Challenge #03944-J292: The Biggest Game
A Galactic makes a bet with two humans. They could not team up with any other human, they could not use any tech other than the basics they and the Galactic agreed upon, and the Galactic had a 2 day head start. The bet? That the humans could not find and catch them within a 7 day time limit. Hell of a game of "hide and seek" to be had. -- Anon Guest
Minimum public standard tech. No social contact with other Humans. Two days' head start. No hiding in the Edge or Deregger territories. To make sure no other Humans spoke to them, Humans Raf and Ryff put the news out on the infowebs. Since all Humans love to win, the rest of the Humans in the alliance avoided them like the plague.
They never needed the help, anyway.
Port airlock securicams could be accessed anywhere. Even with additive and subtractive disguises, even with altered livesuits, that was enough to check that the passenger manifest really included Hitchhiker Qays, and whether or not she was going that way.

The good old days of mechanical drafting!

Life Before AutoCAD
Before the advent of AutoCAD and other drafting softwares, the engineering drawings were made on sheet of papers using drawing boards. Many equipments were required to complete a given drawing such as drawing board, different grade pencils, Erasers T-squares, Set square etc.
