I just remembered the other day that I haven’t drawn them for a long time.

I wanted to convey here the atmosphere of those same adult feasts, where everyone is having fun, joking and gossiping with each other.

P03 is not here, because he generally does not understand the meaning of these feasts (Robot is Robot). It happened once, but he faded away, because everyone quickly forgot about the rules of the game and stupidly began to have fun.

Fanart Friday and I recently finished Kaycee's Mod so here's some Leshman

What I find funny is how you can tell the differences from P03 and Leshy just from their respective acts. You can tell one has more creativity and love of the game rather than just being the best. Heck Leshy added so many new mechanics like items, rune sacrifices,and buffing your cards. You can also tell a different difference from their bosses, Leshy used his trusted (workers?) While Po3 didn't use theirs at all and heck one of their bosses wasn't even made, you had to do it yourself. Also Leshy is just a theater kid that loves to play the rival, he thinks that would be an fun way for a boss to act (and in my opinion it is) Also to bring the other scribes in (mainly magnificus or however you spell their name) you can tell the difference of their ego. If Magnificus were to have an act the goal would probably be to become part of his deck, because he believes that's the best possible goal. Meanwhile Leshy gives you a meat cake. And that's the highest honor anyone can get.

Okay a little add on because I find this very cute. Leshy knows it's the same guy each time but he just acts like it's a new challenger because he thinks it's a good setpiece. (And I agree)

a lot of meta art tries to have its cake and eat it too, it calls attention to its own fakeness but still expects the audience to be invested in the setting and characters as if it was a regular story. you can’t do both. if you’re going to break the viewer’s immersion, you need to write the entire story around that.

it’s been said before, but Inscryption is a game that handles breaking immersion very well. it starts with the player taking the situation it presents at face value; one where Leshy is an unambiguously antagonistic figure with murderous intent. but then Inscryption reminds the player that this is just a game, and they learn that Leshy knows it’s just a game, and he knows we know it’s just a game, and at no point does he actually intend to harm us. this serves to recontextualize his entire character, but it wouldn’t be possible if the game still expected us to care about its constructed world.

the game doesn’t ever walk back on this, either. in its second and third acts, the role of the villain shifts to P03. P03 is an antagonist who eschews immersion. he’s not an obstacle for the player to overcome. he’s a self-aware, independently thinking being working towards his own goals. he’s not unpleasant to Luke because the story has written them to be enemies but because he genuinely hates the guy.

you notice how after you defeat the last uberbot, act 3 just sorta…ends? convention would dictate that you have a battle with P03 to cap off the adventure. that’s what Leshy did. that’s what the original Inscryption would have done if it didn’t get interrupted. but what would be the point? P03 doesn’t care about the game. his goals span beyond the confines of the floppy disk.

you stop playing a game when you’ve gotten everything you want out of it. but Inscryption ends when P03 gets everything he wants, because he’s the one playing you.
