My name is Marr! I use He/She/They and any pronouns. I’m Omni, Bigender, and Aspec. Or something. I’m cool with any gendered terms, and I pretty much use them interchangeably myself. Gal, guy, neither, whatever!

I have ADHD and anxiety (both diagnosed) along with other things, but those are the ones I’ll probably talk about on here the most. I’m mixed White and Latina (plus Native) but fairly white passing. I speak English and want to learn Spanish, but I’m definitely not fluent. American and more “country” than I realize lol

Right now im really into Total Drama. It’s one of my longest lasting hyperfixations so far! I also post about a few other things, like House M.D and Dungeon Meshi. (More likely reblogging those things though.)

Specifically in Total Drama I mostly post about Alenoah and Priyemma. Recently been talking about the newest Reboot season (and my complaints with it). I talk the most about World Tour and TDI 2023 because it’s been a while since I’ve watched all the seasons and those are the ones I remember the best. I plan to rewatch them all… someday. I haven’t even finished watching reboot s2 because it’s painful!

I love shipping! I can’t even list them all because there’s so many tbh. I am very much a multi shipper and I constantly am finding new things to ship! I try to not engage in ship hate ever, but sometimes I slip up lol. I post some less-than-positive content about Nemma on occasion or Juliayne… everything that could be considered ship hate is tagged as such and never tagged with the ship that is being slandered.

I can’t really draw, so if I ever post my beginner drawings please be nice lol 😭 I’m still developing a style and learning. I have many, many WIPs that I might share here and there. I do really want to be able to draw confidently and make art for the things I love!

I’ve started writing fanfiction again lately! It’s a struggle for a lot of reasons. Props to everyone who writes fics because it’s hard. It takes me hella long too! I usually get out at least one a month. My user is Marrfixated on AO3, feel free to leave comments or kudos!

I’ve written four Alenoah oneshots so far. Most recently posted Contra Entendre, so go read that! I have 3 other oneshots that are somewhat written and I’ll post someday, but I’ve shifted my focus to planning some longer fics. I currently have an Alenoah AU and a Priyemma post-canon fic in the works! The latter is my main focus as I plan out the entire thing.

I also have tiktok @Marrfixated. I post on tumblr more than TikTok because it’s easier, but I started off there. I don’t really use anything else yet (except ao3). I also have a Priyemma centric sideblog on here (@priyemma), where I’ll sometimes reblog content from and vice versa.

Okay so if you count by subscriptions, bookmarks or hits, that would be my Syndicate Heist Of Las Nevadas (But Everybody Has Superpowers), The Totem Of Undying Job. Put almost four months and 62k of writing into that one and re-learned how to write and finished a long-form story for the first time in *cough* ten *cough* many years.

If you count by kudos, that would be the 700-word sickfic I wrote while the kettle boiled to deal with canon betrayals in someone else's fic (shoutout to knifetrick), that is the only thing I wrote this year that can be described as "fluffy" and also had nine people subscribe to it (?). This Is My Pity Party I do not understand you and how people keep finding you, but I'm— glad you enjoyed? Thank you for the kudos?

oh dear, can you see me? by findingkairos, for being the first serious longfic that I'd read in the fandom and making me think about minecraft mechanics as informing story, and about dehumanization and coming back from that, and about inherent dignity, and for like, blowing my mind. This is the first writing of any kind that I went back to re-read in years and it changed my relationship with reading right at about the same time as I was starting to be unable to concentrate on original fiction of any kind and panicking over that. Something about reading on my computer still worked though, and so I did not lose my mind, and instead I went "I am going to google how to be a good commenter on fic and emulate that because I need to do something to express my love here". Pronoun shift my beloved.

Orphan's Path, by @aenor-llelo, Alderous, Anarchy-Schmanarchy (Murder_Schmurder), BattleBlaze, ConcoctionsFromHell, Falrisesi, fluxphage, Otakuforlife19, Rocket999. (it takes a village to write an orphan's path.) Right, so, I am aro/ace. Known that for a good like, six/four years now. Yes I was slow to figure it out, shush, literally no one told me it was an option for the first twenty some-odd years of my life. This is the first time I read a depiction of a QPR, presented as equal to romantic relationship, or in main characters, or in adults, and it undid me. The idea? That you could not be so irreparably broken that you could be enough for someone even if you couldn't give them romance? That you didn't have to play third-string behind the real important family and romance relationship? That you weren't inherently tragic? That you weren't inherently lesser? That you weren't inherently broken? Was a lot? Also it was funny?

Don't Hang Up Now, I'm Not Done, by teahound (@tea-with-veth). The first tubbo-centric fic I read and then I was deeply disappointed to find how difficult it was to find anything that even remotely measures up. But I loved the relationships in this so much, it basically punted me into beeduo fandom. Now I have 20k+ channel points with both tubbo and ranboo (and tubbo alt), and whenever they show up in fic I cheer for my boys.

Hush Now (You Were Lost but Now You’re Found), by @corpse-art. You know when you read something and you're like "oh, this is what everyone else is trying to do with the genre". So absolutely beautifully written and conceived and plotted, sent me down a rabbit hole of superhero AUs which mostly did not measure up, I adore it. The reveal of information is so obviously intentional and crafted? We have learned so much and still actually know so little? It's a masterwork? The intentionality of it all?

the trinkets and the treasures we brought back from the crusades, by Odaigahara (@droidofmay). Absolutely beautifully-done world-building and characterization in a one-shot where one character is only there via an ancient diary and the other person is dying. What one-shots want to be. I try to rec this and I lose my words and I am just grabbing people by the front of the shirt and yelling READ IT.

Bad Beat, by Bee_4 (@theminecraftbee). I do not understand how to play card games. I don't understand bluffing or card counting or the rules. But this managed to keep me absolutely on the edge of my seat for 10k words and then it sucker-punched me. HOW TO TENSION LIKE THIS I DO NOT KNOW.

Whatever Remains, However Improbable, by @7cxrhye. It is a fantastic mystery that made me forget to eat or get up from the computer for an afternoon (I was walking around making tea carrying my laptop with me), and also the author invited me to her discord server and I timidly joined and then I learned that fic discord servers are the best place on the internet, so it was noteworthy both ways. (This is just such a good mystery, you guys.)

Cataclysm, by thanotaphobia (blue000jay) (@thanotaphobia). Cataclysm my beloved, the reason I eagerly check the calendar to see if it's friday and sadly droop throughout the week. This is my favourite because it is an astonishingly good fantasy AU with politics where everyone is an unreliable narrator and so much is happening behind the scenes, and it is my favourite because it made me absolutely lose my mind in my desire to know what is going on and literally start a thirteen-page document titled "conspiracy document" tracking facts and alliances and theories, and it is my favourite because I actually got in on the ground floor and got to read this one from chapter one (I was the eleventh comment) and I was recommending it around from chapter one onwards because I knew it was going to be amazing and I was fucking correct, motherfuckers. Read Cataclysm.

Not really a question, but I absolutely love how nuanced and thought-out your views and interpretations of characters are. I felt it when I first found your writing through last life, but it’s especially stood out when you talk about c!Dream and c!Quackity. Your recent post and the linked directors commentary especially were so good, I feel like I’ve rarely seen folks who view Dream’s imprisonment and torture as a bad thing without going on to want a redemption for him and the way you explained it all put to words a lot of things I’d been struggling to give form to in my mind. I’d love to read some of the zines you referenced in your directors cut if the names ever come to mind! All this to say your work is incredible and your analysis always makes me think, I’m typically not an avid nsfw or kink fic reader, but your work makes me want to branch out just to experience more of your writing lmao

What an incredibly flattering ask to recieve <3 I’m delighted by the response that my DSMP meta especially has had, and especially wrt the bit you picked out - that what has happened to Dream can be wrong, without that in any way minimising or absolving the absolutely heinous shit he’s done, or in any way contributing to a redemption arc. That was a really difficult thing to work out how to phrase; I’m extremely glad I managed to make it coherent, and to give words to stuff that other people have been feeling too.

They’re both heavy reads, as may be obvious from the title, and challenging in that they a) do not necessarily provide answers, and b) are collections of essays from many different perspectives, with different and often conflicting ideas on how we should try and find answers. But they’re both phenomenal, and (along with the ever-recommended Lundy Bancroft) informed a lot of my thinking about domestic abuse/intimate partner violence and people’s reactions to that (both from inside the abuse and without).

Some of my nsfw stuff is more character-study based (the “Snapshots” duo; perhaps also “all you gotta do, darling”). If you’re considering branching out, I’d start there. They’re arguably the heaviest, and please do check the tags before reading, but the sex/violence in those is because it’s part of a way of looking at bits of the characters - at how they think, how they react, what they do in the face of vulnerability. Some of it (“Unhealthy Compulsions”, “Compromise”) is just because I wanted to write some (occasionally very nasty) smut, and whilst I’d hope it’s still in character and still has interesting things to say about the characters, it’s primarily driven by the sex/kink and so might be less to your taste!

Alrighty, so I’ve seen/experienced some things that make me uncomfortable and I don’t want to deal with that anymore. I will give 2 chances for some things, but i will specify which one(s) of these they are. This is behavior I do not want on my blog or to be associated with and therefore if any of this applies to you, please stay away. I will block if you interact and/or don’t follow my DNI.

If you are confused about any of this, don’t be afraid to send in an ask or message me! I’d rather you come ask me then you be anxious about “omg am i apart of this DNI demographic” and not be able to enjoy the content you like. And even if you do end up being against my DNI/you are apart of something I do not wish to associate with, I will not block you for that. As long as you don’t continue to associate with me after the confirmation, I will not block. If you do continue after I confirm that you go against the DNI, then it will be a block.

Don’t make absolutely horrible and rude jokes/comments about real life deaths that affected many people and/or others. It’s rude and disrespectful. I saw what the DSMP fandom did with 9/11. That’s the shit i won’t allow. It’ll be a two (2) strikes before you’re blocked. I’m lenient on this because i get humor is a coping mechanism, i use it myself, so this will be a more heavy judge thing on “is this socially acceptable/wrong” and “does this make me uncomfortable”.

Hello there! I recently found your fic A is for accidental dimensional travel on ao3 and would first like to say good job! I am thoroughly enjoying the story so far. As an amateur writer, I wanted to ask if you have any writing tips?

First, I’m really happy to hear you’re enjoying it, thank you!! And second, of course!!!:D That’s very flattering haha, and it’s something I can talk about for hours, though I’ll try to keep it condensed:’D I’m an amateur writer myself, of course, but, hey, I think every writer has something valuable to offer in terms of advice, and I have been pretty obsessed over the topic for years I guess lol.

I will say, though, that writing is like any other skill, and certain advice fits certain levels (I’ve had someone come to me about writing tips who didn’t have a grasp on the most basic concepts, so I told them different things from what I’d tell someone who’s actually been writing for a while). I don’t know what level you’re at, anon, so I’ll try to keep it to tips that I personally use whenever I’m writing, just a few quick things:D However!! You can always directly dm me and I’d be more than happy to offer more personalized/specific advice if that’s something you’d like:))

(I’d also like to mention that, to me, fanfiction writing is different from original writing. In fanfics, I usually go with the first draft of any chapter and I focus more on the Fun stuff, whereas with original stuff I’d have multiple drafts and be more careful. I just don’t have the time nor the need to perfect my fics if I like them enough as is, and I don't expect anyone else to perfect them, either. But, hey, that’s just me)

Dialogue is my favorite part of writing, so I’d like to share a few things I keep in mind whenever I’m constructing it.

First, unless a character is monologuing, I try to keep each person’s lines to no more than 3-4 sentences at a time. That way the dialogue flows more naturally and feels like people are actually talking.

Second, people are rarely graceful with their words, especially if they’re flustered for any reason. Cutting off sentences is a good way to show that, but don’t overdo it, either. That goes for stuttering, too. A couple of cuts or stutters is more than enough. I tend to break this "rule" when someone is really struggling, but that's only on special occasions.

Third, not every line needs a dialogue tag!! You need to evaluate what’s actually important. If you’re using a dialogue tag, you’re drawing attention to it. Why? Is it unclear who’s speaking? Are they performing some action that adds to/reinforces/conflicts with what’s being said? Is it funny? If there isn’t a good reason, you can just leave it without a tag. (Also, dialogue without tags flows much quicker, so that’s something to keep in mind. That's good for a quippy exchange.)

Fourth, I try to always progress some aspect of the story with every line. Usually, that can be plot progression or character progression. They can chatter about their day, the weather, work, sure, but it needs to progress something. Maybe it’s used to showcase the tense/awkward atmosphere. Maybe they learn information that’ll be useful later. Maybe it’s a way to show personality. Just, have it have a purpose.

And last, ‘said’ is not dead. Our eyes when reading barely register the word, so if you don’t wanna draw attention to how something is being said, use… ‘said’ lol.

A few more general things:

I don’t switch POVs often, but when I do, I try to make each POV have its distinct voice, which is something you hear a lot about in writing classes and such. People far more advanced than me can explain it much better, but the way I go about it is similar to dialogue. Different people use different phrases, some go on long tangents, some introspect a lot, some would rather die than think for a second about what they’re feeling (doesn’t mean you shouldn’t describe their emotional responses; just that some may draw more attention to them and linger longer). Switching between more formal styles to looser and rambly is also an easy and quick way to distinguish different narrators.

If you focus a lot on a certain detail, that detail needs to be important. Listen, I didn't spend multiple paragraphs on Dream fawning over an ender chest for that to be trivial in the future lol. The more attention you draw to something, you more weight you put on it. I really recommend that you bring it back eventually.

What’s the worst that can happen? Make it happen, and make it worse lol.

Your readers aren’t stupid, don’t spoon-feed them information. They’re smart cookies, leave some clues and they’ll figure it out. Hopefully. Use your judgement lol. But that goes for descriptions, too. Help them paint the scene, don’t actually paint it for them. Use different senses to describe something, such as smell, touch, sound. Once again, draw attention only to what’s actually important. (I’ve really enjoyed the way descriptions were done in Path of Golden Green)

If you want a line to have a lot of weight, put it in a separate paragraph. That’s probably obvious, but good to have it in mind haha.

Decide what atmosphere you want your story to have. If you’re going for a lighter one, don’t focus too much on serious, dark things. Likewise, tragedies and comedy don’t mix well unless it’s a tragicomedy lol, but that’s a whole other thing. I usually like going for a nice middle, sometimes leaning more towards light stuff. It’s why in A is for Accidental I didn’t dwell too much on the possible effects the prison could have had on mh!Dream because I wanted to keep that storyline relatively light (at least, compared to dsmp!Dream’s storyline lol). Possible trauma just. wasn’t the point here lmao. I just slap on a “eh, not his first rodeo” and I’m done haha. Not everything needs to be heavy angst and not everything needs to be all funny and fluffy. Find what balance you wanna have. Basically, it’s usually not a good idea to betray your readers lol.

This is more of a pet peeve but I really dislike head-hopping lol. It's basically when one paragraph is from one character's POV, the next one is from another's. I guess there's the third-person omniscient POV where that can fly, I suppose, but I'm more of a third-person limited kind of person lol. If that's the POV you're going with, decide on your POV character and stick to it (until the change in POV, at least), pretty please <3

this is a general post discussing my boundaries as a writer + a guide for requesting.

⤷ WHAT I WILL WRITE:

the people i write for are the dream team (dream, georgenotfound, sapnap). i write both irl and smp!dream team, however i do prefer writing smp characters since i’m just more comfortable with that. you can request irl though, i absolutely don’t mind

i do write nsfw. minors can follow my blog, however i do ask of you to block the “nsfw”/“nina nsfw hours” tag since i tag my nsfw drabbles that way. for smut oneshots, i always add cuts and specifically state that minors should not continue reading below the cut!

i will write things such as yandere tropes, violence, gore etc. i will tag them and put warnings so if any of those disturb you, you don’t have to read!

⤷ WHAT I WON’T WRITE:

i will not write for any other youtubers, dsmp members or not. i do like all of the smp, however a lot of them seem to have blurred boundaries, are uncomfortable or haven’t explicitly stated how they feel about fanfiction/shipping content and i respect that. you are always welcome to discuss dsmp characters with me as i love them and the lore behind them, but i will not be writing full-fledged oneshots of them.

i will not write topics such as eating disorders, severe mental disorders or sexual crimes (e.g rape, sexual assault, pedophilia, grooming etc) as i either do not know enough about these topics to write them, or am uncomfortable with writing these things as they may be potentially triggering to me/readers. this includes comfort fics with trauma victims (my heart goes out to you all <3)

i won’t write male readers! my apologies to those who wish to read my fics with male pronouns, i fully respect anyone who uses he/him pronouns, however i am not a man nor do i use he/him pronouns so i do not know what that’s like, nor do i know what gay relationships between men are like because i’ve never been in one, so i feel like i would be portraying it incorrectly. i do accept gender neutral readers, though! (more on this below)

please specify which pronouns you want to be used! i’m totally fine with either she/her or they/them pronouns, so please specify that - if you do not specify which, i will not be writing the request

please give me something to work with! give me a plot and ending if you have a specific idea, sprinkle in some details! you don’t have to write a full novel on your idea, just give me something to work with and don’t be too vague!

(if the plot is easily summarised in a sentence, such as “stream finding out you’re [cc]’s s/o on accident” then a simple sentence is fine, however if it’s a specific au such as soulmate, fake dating etc, please add details!)

— REQUESTING DRABBLES/HEADCANONS:

drabbles aren’t always open! drabble time will be announced in it’s time, and during that span of a couple of hours you can send your drabble ideas and i’ll post them!

headcanons are always open! if you want to, you can specify a gender (please do if it has nsfw elements) but if you don’t, i’ll use they/them pronouns

you know the drill with requesting drabbles/hcs tbh, like one sentence is totally fine
