Quick overview on Lilli's Pokémon... Rewrite? Verse? Idk what this is lmao

All I really know for sure is that I have a lot of thoughts about pokemon's lore and plotlines. I want to try my hand at connecting stuff with a little more continuity because it's fun! There's no way I can get to everything because we'd be here all day, but I figured I'd set up the basic premise and include some fun notes/headcanons!

My general idea is focusing from the anime (up until Horizons) while also including more components from the games (such as more of the SWSH plot/rivals, Emma from XY's post game, Zinnia and the Delta Episode, etc). I also include a multitude of my own original characters, along with some of my friends' (most prominently @starkitters's goobers). Storylines are generally divided up by "sagas" based on the original generation they take place in! I may include some Horizons as it would coincide with ScaVio, but I need to catch up with that series (though from the looks of it it’s all pretty banger)!

This concept is definitely going to mostly get smaller things of art/comics/drabbles and whatnot rather than a full-fic/comic series or whatever because... oh gosh there's way too much. Also obviously not going to cover every single anime episode bit by bit because that would make me insane!!

As for a general timeline— a lot of this main stuff would kinda unfold in the span of 2-3 years? I might make it longer, but then again a lot can happen in even just a month, y’know? Generally, Ash would stay 10 between Indigo League-Advanced, 11 by DP-XYZ, and 12 during SuMo-Journeys. The Legends Arceus shenanigans would probably be during Journeys and the ScaVio stuff is definitely after (I'm thinking potentially a year or so after Journeys' saga would be wrapped up? Though it could even be immediately after idk).

There is. A ton of information even just in this little intro post, and a lot of it isn’t even fully concrete either. But if you find the time to read through it all, I’d really appreciate feedback!

General/Introductory Information

Earlier involvement from rivals/evil teams such as the Galar Rivals, N and Team Plasma, Team Skull, etc! All of that will be covered more in the respective sagas they all appear in, lol

I'm kind of on the fence for whether or not more player characters would be included? May, Dawn, and Serena are canon companions/major characters the anime, I'm including Brendan as Birch's son and Lucas as Dawn's twin brother, Akari and Rei are both going to be native to Hisui, etc.

So far, the mc roles that are taken up by OCs include my characters Lilac (involved in XYZ/SuMo but becomes a Swsh Gym Challenger), Stacy (Emmet's daughter, travels back to Hisui to find her missing Uncle), and Chrys (main Naranja student involved with Nemona, Arven, Penny, and also Kieran and Blueberry stuff). @starkitters's oc Arthur also kinda takes an mc role as Hop's bestie/neighbor and the two of them work with the knight-wolf duo (Zacian and Zamazenta) instead of Ash and Goh just kinda... feeling shoved in there. Ash and his Journeys buddies still get involved in the Darkest Day shenanigans, but another Gym challenger/Hop's bestie)

While characters like Red and Blue/Green aren't really going to be involved since Ash and Gary already kinda take up those roles, there is potential in making like... Ash's dad a Red-esque character? A character based on Leaf? We've also gotten cameos of Jimmy (Gold/Ethan) and Marina (Krys) from the old OVAs and Lyra is briefly seen during DP... but tbh we get so little on them it wouldn't be too difficult to make the OVAs an au or something? I'll have to play with all of it.

The Black and White/Best Wishes saga is going to get some major storyline reworks. Team Rocket (Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobuffet, etc) aren't going to start actually doing evil shit/working directly with Giovanni out of nowhere. Rather, they get have their own route uncovering stuff about N and Team Plasma, which follows more of the storyline from BW1. Characters from BW2 like Colress and Hugh are definitely still going to appear and their deal won't really change too much, but I'll have to figure out their involvement (especially with Colress he’s got a lot of potential for his own stuff imo). Cheren and Bianca are in a "halfway" sorta period and acting as apprentices for Lenora and Juniper respectively.

I'm mostly going off of the Scarlet side of the ScaVio storyline, with Naranja Academy being in Mesagoza and Sada being the professor inside Area Zero. However, Uva Academy and Turo are also going to be involved! Essentially, Naranja is a school that focuses on helping its students figure out and prepare for careers connected with pokemon (trainers, coordinators, breeders, doctors/nurses, etc) in a more general sense. Uva Academy in Zapapico is primarily a research school (especially prominent for professors and scientists) while Blueberry in Unova specializes in professional battling (League Members, Battle Facilities, etc). Naranja provides courses and connections for careers Uva and Blueberry have niches in, but it's the difference between attending a more well-rounded school and attending a specialized one, if that makes sense.

Turo develops the Terastral Orbs used throughout the Paldea region, while Sada focused on Area Zero and develops the time machine that brings past and future Paradox Pokemon. Their relationship is super complicated and messy /pos. I don't think they ever got officially married, but they're 100% divorced in spirit.

Since the games kinda write Sada and Turo interchangeably (even outside of the whole AI deal) and they're described in the same ways besides pronouns and stuff, I want to make the professors a little more distinct from each other. Sada dives head-first into her passions and doesn't like anything or anyone holding her back, Turo is more conscientious but can come off a lot colder than he intends sometimes, etc.

I know most people hc the Subway twins (Ingo and Emmet), Elesa, Skyla, etc to be in like their late 20s/early 30s... but since I gave Emmet a daughter who's the mc of the Legends Arceus saga... they're actually gonna be slightly younger than Lusamine (around 38 or so) lmao. Let's get more nice and hot older adults up in here

Silver (Giovanni's son/Johto rival) is included! Since there's already a baby Lugia in the anime named Silver and that's just... too perfect, this rendition of the character is going to be named Sage (Yomogi in Japanese). I'm still figuring out his personality and stuff since Paul's whole "be the strongest/pokemon are just tools" thing was pulled from game!Silver, but I kinda want to play with Sage being a little more mellowed out by the time we would meet him in Johto Journeys? He acts as an assistant for Professor Elm, and is surprisingly great with raising pokemon despite the edgy tough-guy act he usually keeps up. He and Brock can nerd out about breeding and nuturing techniques and stuff.

An original team I made myself, Team Comet, acts as a foil of sorts to Team Flare. They’re fighting over (literal) life and death

I’m not entirely sure how to make this work, but I really want AZ’s ultimate weapon to be the (super buffed up) prototype of the healing machines used in pokemon centers. Like… the current machines extract infinity energy from deceased pokemon’s remains (such as ashes and stuff) instead of. Y’know. Draining living pokemon of that energy directly, causing them to die. AZ himself developed this practice as an attempt to redeem himself from all of the tragedy he caused in the name of his Floette. His full name is Azrael Jovalie… making him a pivotal ancestor to the Joy family.

Several large family-clans are the primary leaders of international organizations. The Joy family runs the pokemon centers and overall healthcare facilities, Jenny family runs the international and local police departments, the Jordan family are firefighters who provide aid and try to prevent natural disasters, etc (they may be involved with pokemon rangers? I’m not entirely sure). Others are obviously welcome to work in these forces as well, and members of these families aren’t (usually) forced into working the family business if they want to pursue other goals.

Obviously the anime has all the service-people look identical to safe on time and everything, but I think making unique designs and characters for the Joys, Jennys, etc is a fun concept! No matter their gender or ethnicity, almost every member of a poke-business family have hair and eye colors in the same spectrum. For example, almost every Joy has pink hair that’s styled in circular/drop shapes to some capacity, and blue eyes. Jennys have teal/turquoise hair in lightning shaped styles, and brown eyes. Jordans have charcoal black hair that looks like smoky wisps, and fiery orange/gold eyes.

Xerosic (creepy ass scientist dude who forces you to push a button and coaxes Emma into his expansion suit testing) was originally from Ultra Megalopolis. I’m not entirely sure how to connect him to all the Team Flare stuff??? Or even how exactly he ends up in Kalos but he was part of the Ultra Recon Squad and volunteered to travel to the “main” pokemon world for the to see where Necrozma might try to take all the light next. But when he actually shows up there, he just. Doesn’t care. He’s so fascinated by all of the different pokemon and how energy manifests in such different ways… All he wants to do is learn everything he can about it

Eternatus is an Ultra Beast! The ricochet from AZ’s Ultimate Weapon woke it up and caused the first darkest day.

Builing more from the Adventures manga, Galar was already starting to lose its energy, but the issue is actually going to be addressed far more openly. As Eternatus slept for thousands of years, its dynamax energy gradually dies down to the point where it can’t really be used as a proper resource— especially not to power so many of Galar’s communities. Rose definitely pushed a lot of the reliance of dynamax energy in recent history, but I’m certain Galar has relied on Eternatus for even longer. What makes Rose’s plan to wake Eternatus up again even more messed up (besides putting so many people and pokemon in danger), is that he’s essentially harvesting Eternatus of its energy: Wake it up to get the dynamax levels up again, (have Leon) catch it so it doesn’t go back to sleep… Rose sees the pokemon less as an actual creature and more like a walking power plant, definitely in part with how different Eternatus looks from “normal” pokemon.

The original Sun/Moon storyline with Lusamine and her kids happens first (Lusamine is a mix of the doting from the anime and her abuse from the games… she’s messy /pos). Then, around the time Ash and his friends meet Poipole, that’s when we’d meet the Ultra Recon squad and get into the Necrozma stuff.

Y’know Goh’s whole thing with wanting to catch Mew? How Jessie’s mom died in pursuit of Mew? And the eventual data she found was used for Mewtwo’s creation? Do you see how I’m connecting the dots?

Misc Information

Harley is one of Karen's cousins, making them both descendants of Sanqua (Galaxy Team's Construction Leader) and her little brother, Melli (Diamond Clan Warden of Coronet Highlands). Obviously... we can tell who took after who even after all these years, lmao. They also have a baby cousin (one of my ocs lol) named Jimson from Laverre City (Kalos) who is currently one of the Blueberry League Club's Biome Leaders! He specializes in psychic types... and is lowkey a chuunibyou (really commits to the wizard/witch act)

While Serena is in Hoenn, she meets Lisia and the two become girlfriends besties! They’re like twelve so idk if they’d actually do anything with their feelings but the mutual pining is very very apparent. Their ship name is Dreamshowshipping!

Chloe is highkey a lesbian. That’s just always how I’ve interpreted her??? She’s constantly shocked that Ash knows all of these cute girls. I think her and Iris eventually being a couple would be very cute. If Flowershipping isn’t taken, I shall call them that!

Because I am not immune to @yamujiburo’s propaganda of Hanamusashipping (Hiii Kiana if you’re reading through all of this I am so honored and so sorry it’s so much gjdhdhdhs), I love the idea that Jessie and James start a poly/ish thing with Delia!! By that I mean Delia and James are more so queerplatonic and Jessie is smooching both of them lmao. Ash’s step parents have been here the whole time yippee!!

Arven gets a harem to make up for all the trauma (/j but also not). He gets 2 boyfriends (Giacomo and Drayton) and a girlfriend (Copaia, my main Uva student character). They are all bisexual, bet u didn’t know that ;p

Carmen and Amarys are lesbians and girlfriends!! They’ve been dating for 2 years until the main events of the ScaVio saga

I’m not entirely sure what to do with Indigo League’s Elite 4 since it changes between Kanto and Johto?? Will and Karen are definitely well-known trainers (and possibly even coordinators?) in their own right, but idk if or when they would take Lorelai and Agatha’s places. They might become members around Journeys (since I’m treating that as a general 2 years since Indigo League), but that’s very much up in the air.

Xerosic straight up ditches his daughter (Zossie). Which. He was never that good of a parent anyways but.

Klara is the younger sister of Lacey’s mother (who I have as an oc), making her an aunt! She gave Lacey her Galarian slowpoke/slowbrow.

Lucy is Kieran and Carmine’s older cousin. I know the go-to is that she’s their mom but Lucy’s vibe is more around her early 20s or so to me.

Because I adore the concepts I’ve found from @critterbitter and their mutuals, Ingo and Emmet are Drayden’s nephews. Which makes Stacy and Drayton second cousins— there’s so much comedic potential there you have no idea. Keep in mind that Drayden is also paternal figure to Iris, and Hop and Leon are her cousins… the family tree gets real complicated real fast lmao

After such an awesome day, it was time to go to a festival!

Kukui insisted to show off how to catch a Pokemon with his Rockruff (which was awesome!) and gives me 10 Poke Balls, the Nuzlocke portion of the challenge has officially begun now~

I gave it a try, and I catch-

Making it towards Iki Town (and training up Gladio and Amaryllis a tad before progressing), we encounter two strangers, but they soon left, so we move on and into the festivities.

It was a tough fight against Hau (two flying-types verses a Pichu isn’t great, but Amaryllis was a good girl :>), but we pulled through

After such an awesome battle, I get a Z Power Ring and the approval of Tapu Koko (NICE!)

Come morning, I meet up with Lillie and make it to the beach and catch the next Pokemon...

Eh, it’s okay, especially what was to come next.

After chatting with the Professor, the Rotom Dex is mine :D... and then we experienced a peculiar event- a sudden influx of pure darkness in the sky 0:!

But it was nice and sunny again, so Lillie waits on me on the brand new Pokemon Center on Route 1 (How convenient!)

After giving me a tour, I take a moment to heal my team and check out the Festival Plaza for what I’m looking forward to doing

     ...Dreams are pleasant and sweet.

     After spending many hours in the day studying art books and photography taken a long time ago, it's no wonder that the place that Kazuaki's mind tossed him into is a flowery field. Knee-high grass, daisies, tulips, and tiger lillies. Blonde wheat and grain swaying on the horizon-- this is the most delicate and poetic scenery. If he listened for it hard enough, the distant calls of swallows spoke to him from afar. Dreams are pleasant and sweet. There is just one problem...

     This place is wonderful. Kazuaki wished he could share this sight with someone. Just experiencing this by himself is painfully lonely.

     Slowly the boy threaded further into the field, careful, as not to step on any of those pretty tiger lillies. He stopped when he saw fabric between the grass, then curiously, even slower hopped closer to see that this is the shirt, the arm, the body, of...

     Shuu. He seemed to be asleep. Such a pretty face he has, the unexpected sight already made a smile tug at Kazuaki's lips. He hurried to sit on his knees by his 'boyfriend''s side...and poked him gently on the cheek with a finger.

     " ...Iwamine-kun, wake up! Hey! " he whispered shyly,      " Hehehe, why are you sleeping here~? "

Game Verse Au

the other day we were talking about how different our canon would change if it was game verse instead so we came up with some ideas on how it would change. We focused more on making all of our kids fit into a gameverse setting verse restarting from scratch. For major changes/notes I took we have:

ship changes. All of our pokeani ships don't work anymore so we had to change ships

Adele's now hoennshippings only child

Red, Green, and Blue are in a poly relationship with Ber, Marx, and Sammy 

Dawn and Lucas had Noel and Jean together (who are twins), dawn took Jean and Lucas took Noel (both the adults and kids are still really close though the parents just aren't together romantically). Lucas and Barry also adopted Kitty when he was 5 (he's no longer Barry's biologically)

Io is now the adopted daughter of Lillie and Selene and doesn't have a dramatic parent backstory anymore

Penny and Tanner are Gold and Kris' kid

Scout is now Lyra and Silver's kid

Autumn is Lisa and Chaz's kid

Linette is Roxanne and Brawly's kid

Yancy and Len are Yancy and Nate's kid

Eclair is the adopted daughter of all of the Stratton brothers

Gale's now Wanda's (wally's cousin) kid but is still really close with his uncle

Ages. The game timeline is different so adults are different ages so ages have to change. Each line is separate by the year they can leave to travel (think of school years) with the oldest at top

Ber, Marx, and Sammy: they're brothers who get along sometimes but still pretty close

Gale, Ike, and Adele: Gale and Adele's parents are best friends and Adele know Ike through Champion Stuff through the parents. Gale and Ike are like Adele's big brothers who won't hesitate if someone does something to her

Noel, Kitty, and Jean: again, siblings. They're all the same age (same birthday in fact) so they're all joint at the hip

Axel, Lloyd, and Len: already a trio in the main verse but this time they're even closer since Len's from Unova and doesn't move

Trainer Class changes! A lot don't change but some do and it's hilarious for the ones that do

Adele does field research for her dad! She's not good at it but she travels to try to help with the pokedex and constantly has updates for her dad of her "discovering" ""new"" pokemon (and he's happy to hear from her everyday

Scout's a trainer (and would probably be called his actual name Scott since "scouts" a nickname pun on idols) because of his dad so Penny became a trainer just to try to one up him

Gale's a trainer and eventually down the line becomes hoenns champion 

Noel's also a trainer so Kitty and Jean travel with him to keep him company

Other notes that don't fit in categories as well

Jean and Adele are still a thing. They meet when Adele's traveling in Sinnoh and Adele is telling him about how she just discovered a pokemon she's named "big tree turtle" (Torterra). Jean falls for her instantly. Noel and Kitty are concerned for Jean

For at least a region or two Adele and Marx travel together. Weird to think about since they're suppose to be siblings

Autumn still likes to poke fun at Adele

Penny isn't into idols anymore since she only was into them because of her mom and that's just really weird to think about

Axel and Len are going even harder they are in the main verse and I'm happy for them

Ike went from having 0 people he cares about to 2 people he TOLERATES ONLY. Don't tell them he said that though

Adele and Len aren't friends which again, is just weird to think about 

Charlotte was conceived at the after party of the xy endgame ceremony. Yeah. Grace wasn't too happy with this news

Bridge and Milton are dating still. Don't know the details but they are. they are the last fankid ship we can get to work in this verse so they will because I said so

Since Poke Pelago doesn’t exist in Pokespe verse yet, I wonder if Sun and Moon are going to find him here in Ultra Space and take him back to Alola

Also I had the idea that maybe Sun is going to create Poke Pelago in the end and work with Mohn in it maybe?

Or maybe a plot twist happen here haha, idk, a lot of stuffs can still happen... But Sun and Moon finding and helping Mohn would be a great surprise for Lillie and Gladion and maybe it would be cool to see

And interesting that in both Anime and Pokespe the siblings believe their dad is dead, when in the game Gladion clearly say he got missing mmmm

RAY BLK - RUN RUN [5.29] How does the Sound of 2017 sound in 2018?

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: South London R&B singer overcomes a generic, slightly syncopated beat and a platitude-heavy chorus with vividly diaristic verse lyrics and a commanding vocal performance that exudes compassion. [6]

Crystal Leww: Ray BLK's career has been a slow burn, finally releasing an album a year and a half after her BBC Sound of 2017 win and three and a half years after her first EP. I'm a fan of this approach -- I find that too many artists rush projects out the door before they've matured as artists, which benefits no one, least of all themselves. "Run Run" is not a single that can be released by a young artist that doesn't know who they are. It's a tension-filled track about growing up in a culture of gun violence in Black British communities. Young artists have made music on this subject before, but rarely does it sound as good as this while conveying such a powerful message. [7]

Maxwell Cavaseno: While "Run Run" is at least lyrically interesting for a singer incorporating road slang from the last few years into a tale of woe, one gets the feeling that this song's a bit too deliberately staged. Ray's vocals are tame and dry in spite of the loaded imagery and never quite showcase her capabilities, which allows the listener to focus on the words but also renders them passionless and a bit disinterested. Furthermore, the production's alternation between the post-dubstep bass gurgles and the sampled drum break for melodrama feels downright hokey, especially coming in on so meager a chorus. [5]

Joshua Minsoo Kim: Emotional storytelling that would be better off without the music: hollow Adult Contemporary uplift, right down to the empty-sounding mix and questionable clash between dubstep wobbles and strings. I understand the desire to set the tempo to andante, as it makes the piece feel more thoughtful, but it has the effect of stripping the piece of its intensity. Ray BLK's narration feels strictly like narration, and I'm not placed inside the scenes she depicts. Perhaps that's the point, as doing so would trivialize such matters, but the video doesn't convince me that this was the goal. [2]

Lilly Gray: I experienced this song two ways: first, as audio only, where the odd syncopation and stretch-drag of the lyrics combined with the 2D-ification of Ray Blk's otherwise rich voice to hold me at arm's length. The murky throb of the back beat is lightened too much by the drumkit. But I get why, as this is both homage and living document. The chorus has the most life and pulls you through, the adrenaline of escape (or pursuit) flooding the senses. The second way I heard this song was alongside the music video, which is so compelling and successful in its overwhelming bleakness that the music fades to the background. Reduced to that throb, it becomes as muffled as a heartbeat or the pounding of blood through a head wound. I hated watching the torment and then mock execution of this boy at the service of this song. [4]

Andy Hutchins: Calling "Run Run" a "Pumped Up Kicks" with the many brutalities of the world as the antagonists and the perspective flipped to that of the runners seems glib. But the sunshine of the island-breezy production and the darkness of Ray BLK's lyric rarely coexist harmoniously in pop in 2018, which has largely moved on from the apocalypse pop of the late Obama years, and it's even rarer for both to be affecting in equal measure. The story of Ruth

Solomon and I were taking the missionary lessons, and the missionaries signed us up on the caroling list. It was during the holiday season, and a complete surprise to me. Solomon knew it was going to happen, but didn’t tell me.

They knocked on my door, but Solomon had chosen that specific moment to poop. I answered, and was confronted with 20+ Mormons just singing at me. It was super awkward and hilarious, and I wanted to murder him.

Ruth was one of the singers. When I was being awkward and grabbing Solomon, who had finally come out of the bathroom, she shouted out: “HEY! I’m really into tiny houses!” Because the missionaries had told her we were building one. She didn’t just offer to help, she almost pleaded. She said she needed building experience, because she wanted to build one herself one day. Ben agreed. I was skeptical, but willing to give it a shot.

So Ruth helped with building my house. So did the original missionaries, a few rotations of new ones, and a few other stationary ward members. We would schedule days with them and set up different workstations. Solomon would pick the people he felt had more experience, and put me in charge of the ones who had less experience. My group would do easier things, like paint trim and hand up power tools to those doing the more advanced things. It was also my job to keep everybody motivated and happy, so I would make sure everybody stayed hydrated and fed, and as comfortable as possible. I’d also check in with the different groups to make sure everybody was doing well with their tasks.

Ruth always got picked to go with Solomon. She was so dedicated; sometimes it would just be her and Solomon working together with no other people, because everybody else was busy. Solomon liked her: she was a fast learner and knew basics, which wasn’t so common. She also didn’t try to talk to him when he was thinking, something I would do (trying to make him happy, per my abuse experience) and which he hated.

When I would help traditionally with the construction, Solomon would get pretty pissy. He would be so mean to me, because some of the things you need to know to do construction effectively and efficiently are pretty obvious, but I didn’t know those things because I had spent my life avoiding it. It was a trigger for me for Ben to be so mean while building; I grew up with my dad doing construction projects and learned very early that helping him would lead to fighting and being beaten. Teaching was also some sort of trigger for Solomon but I don’t know what for. He hated showing people how to do things, unless they instantly remembered it and applied it perfectly.

Solomon was not patient with me. He was patient with Ruth, though, and with all the other inexperienced Mormons who were helping building the house. He was always like that: able to make exceptions for others and be accepting to them, but not for me. He kind of just took all the aggression out on me that he wanted to take out on everybody. So I avoided actual construction, and stuck to traditional gender roles in my participation: he was appreciative of me catering to him in this way, and he wouldn’t get so angry. Participating in this way made me feel for a very long time that I wasn’t worthy of taking credit for helping with building my house. I genuinely couldn’t help, though. Solomon wouldn’t let me.

I haven’t experienced such belonging in the church since this time in my life. Everybody pitched in to help with my house, when I wasn’t even a member. The missionaries really made an effort to make sure I was included with the activities, and making friends with the other members. They would pick members specifically for me to meet, that they thought I would get along with and like. I wanted to join the church to be like these awesome, selfless, loving people. Their influence on me was strong. They knew exactly where to direct their efforts to convert me, and how to pull my heartstrings, even when I made it clear that I might not join the church. They were helping us for the joy of helping, for serving Heavenly Father.

Ruth in particular really influenced me joining the church, because she would always host the missionaries for dinner, and the missionaries knew that I loved food. They would bring me along to dinners with the people they thought I’d get along with. A lot of the times, that person was her.

Ruth was brusk, though, and blunt. She was a little intimidating for me to be around. In the beginning, I was a little afraid to express any dissent about the church, the way I would constantly with the missionaries. I thought she would snap on me. I appreciated it though, the way I appreciated Solomon’s bluntness. It meant that she was honest and that I didn’t have to guess her emotions. It was clear she was a strong member of the church and really believed what she preached. She commanded respect, even though I knew I thought differently on a lot of topics. She made me try to be better. She was protective from the beginning, a natural mom friend.

She lived with her mom, Ada, who had some health problems. She was a much nicer, softer version of Ruth, but she also didn’t have the boundaries Ruth was so rigid about. I loved her anyway, and tried to help Ruth and her get along, because both parties desperately wanted to. I was Ada’s friend, and helped Ruth by providing that for Ada- one of the problems in their relationship was that Ada was trying to be a friend to Ruth. Ada needed an outlet. I would conspire with Ada with little things, because Ruth could border on controlling with her- out of love, though, always out of love.

Ada and Ruth were both open about mental health. They knew I was taking medication for depression, anxiety and PTSD and they didn’t try to tell me to “pray it away” the way I was used to. Ada told me about times in her life when she had gone to counseling. They both encouraged me attending.

I used to own chickens. One time, my chicken was super sick and required constant around the clock care and food injections. They allowed me to bring her to church, in the lobby, because they didn’t want me to miss. That was such a fun day! I gave her a bath and cleaned off her feathers beforehand, and painted her nails. I also put a chicken apron on her.

She died a few days later. Solomon’s mom immediately said it was because I didn’t pray hard enough. She said that we have dominion over animals and that I should have exercised it, and that it was my fault that my chicken died. The Mormons, by contrast, told me that they knew my chicken was going to heaven, because she was probably one of the only chickens who ever got to go to church. They were kind during a tragedy. They even tried to provide me bible verses to explain to Solomon’s mom why her thought process was wrong, though I didn’t use them.

The day that I decided to join the church, I announced it at dinner at Ruth’s house. The first time that I ever felt “the spirit” was going to spend time at Ruth’s house, and feeling it just coming off of her in waves, questioning her about it, and then finding out she had just had a huge prayer session. They both moved to Salt Lake City though on a prayer, soon after I converted, and we lost touch for a bit.

I picked up the friendship again after my giant healing experience, about a year after I had joined. Solomon was constantly trying to poke holes into it (there’s more issues here at play). He tried to make me think I was crazy for thinking that I could ever just.. be healed, and he would just constantly tell me it wasn’t possible for me to “just pray” and be done with my lifelong trauma impact. I didn’t “just pray,” though. I also went through years and years of counseling, was always researching healing techniques and coping strategies, constantly reading books, doing affirmations, etc. and he would just undermine that.

I reached out to Ruth again, because I needed to talk to a “non-judgemental Mormon person.” It’s what I was told by Spirit– I didn’t realize that’s who it was then, though. I needed someone who had a Christian belief system, who was open-minded enough to just be able to see that my healing COULD have happened.

She completely surpassed my expectations. She was kind, where Solomon had turned on me, and she believed me completely– no edits. I told her about gifts that had started manifesting: seeing the ghost of my ex-boyfriend who had recently died, the intense healing of myself and my animals, all the connections I could see- when I couldn’t see them before due to the depression. She recommended me books to help. We would go back and forth texting over and over. She told me she had just started dating somebody who was into energy healing, and kept talking about how amazing he was, and how I should really talk to him.

I didn’t want to talk to him, because I was married, happily, and I didn’t really have a lot of experience talking to guys who were not Solomon. I thought it was a super weird situation, to talk to a complete stranger, a male, about this super intimate experience that I had had, that my own husband had rejected. Further, I thought it was odd that she would push him so much on me… wasn’t she concerned that some feelings would happen? Or was she just a secure person who was secure with other women talking to her boyfriend? I remember feeling really odd about the whole thing. She gave me his number. It was the start of a life-change.

welcome to the kaizen cup, and would you like to know what kaizen means? It means ‘change for the better’, where the brutality of these battles will be show that change is due for many people.

The cup is for competitive battlers from all regions to come to the aether foundation known to be a paradise, hosted by president gladion and a mysterious guest named abel. But why is this cup so different? Because of the issue of tag teaming.

Now, let us explain how this works: tag team battles aren’t essentially double battles since it’s impossible to do pokemon showdown with two people on the same side and it’s quite tedious to have it written – so this is what will happen. You will have a partner for these categories: preliminaries, losers bracket ( if you ended up here, it is to give the ones rooted out have a chance ) , and then the semi finals along with the finals. Please know, however, you will get a change of partner after these rounds to keep you on your toes.

Rules

the registration starts at OCTOBER 1st, and will end OCTOBER 5th. this will not be in real time, and perhaps will end around OCTOBER 19th. Or even earlier. please label the verse ‘kaizencup2k17′ when you rp on tumblr. it will be on discord as well, but we encourage you all to use both discord and tumblr for rp’s.

there is no max, but if we end with an odd number we will have to invite one more to make it happen.

You are allowed up to the max of twelve pokemon, because you will be using one team for the preliminaries ( and losers bracket if you end up there ), and then the second team for the semi finals and finals. Do know however that when you switch two pokemon with your partner, you cannot switch the same kind as you must learn how to coordinate with what you’ve become comfortable with.

the setting is in aether foundation paradise , there is a fourth floor for the contenders to place there and simply built for them. there is a built indoor poke center and item shop for trainer’s use. there’s also a cafe there too along with a deli to help keep everyone sustained. 

the battles , setting wise, will be placed in front of aether foundation outside to ensure the fact that the pokemon inside are not going to battle inside just to keep the peace for the ones in the conservatory in peace of mind. aaaand for collateral damage.

The judges will hold the simple mega stones and bracelets if you wish to use them, you simply have to send in an application form which will be show further down the page. This goes to z crystals as well, if you are not a native to alola. Each participant only gets ONE of the mega stones and z crystals to have  an edge in battle so that no one is in an unfair battle.

Legendaries are not allowed but pseudo legandaries are: dragonite, tyranitar, arcanine, salamence, metagross, garchomp, kommo-o, goodra, and hydreigon.

Ultra beasts are not allowed.

The preliminaries will be written with you and your tag partner, for both regular preliminary rounds and the losers bracket -- which will be single battles, determining those that are left over. Each written preliminary will have 20 notes, five posts from each person involved in that thread. Do not worry about godmodding because the stage you will be on will be random and we will judge both teams for their usage of said battle field.

Just to clear up some things: you and your tag team partner will be using only four pokemon from each side, and yes you may switch them out and they don’t have to faint in order to be considered the loser. 20 notes will be considered 10 minutes of battle. this is during the preliminaries however. this means two pokemon will not be used in your team of six but it is required to use the two pokemon you have swapped with your partner. yes, the preliminary round and losers brackets are timed hence via notes.

 Please be aware that we will judge based on logic, and how you use said battlefield. you don’t have to win but it determines how well you do with the setting and your partners pokemon -- yes, you switch two of your pokemon with your partner ( meaning the muns will have free reign on the move set as well ) while adapting. The base grade you can get is the number 200, if it’s any lower deducting with points and it hits at least 100 points you will be cast to the losers bracket. If you gain points thanks to your adapting mind with the chosen field you are getting, 200 and above are considered passing -- unless if you can’t make it over 250 you are still going to the losers bracket.

Judging will be determined by these things: the usage of the field in a correct way (+50 if they do it correctly, -30 if they don’t do it correctly ), the usage of moves in a correct way (+50 if they do it correctly, -30 if they don’t do it correctly ) , how effectively you and your tag team partner battle (+50 if they do it correctly, -30 if they don’t do it correctly ) , and how well your held items are used ( mentioned ) in your battle (+50 if they do it correctly, -30 if they don’t do it correctly ) .

 The pokemon showdown battles for the semi-final and final stage of battle will be best two out of three so it will be quite fair for all who are participating. HOWEVER IF DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND TO WRITE THE BATTLES IN SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS, WE SHALL CONTINUE WITH THAT.

You cannot and will not request a change of pokemon teams after you’ve been accepted. This is what you signed up with and you will follow through.

Please be aware that though you are tag teaming with someone else, doesn’t mean you are excluded from battling them if possible, in the finals. You might go against them if they reach to the finals or someone else. Best be on your toes.

The prize for the winner will be: 1,000,000 cash money, a shiny hidden ability pokemon that will have it’s respective key stone with it….and possibly an ultra beast. Who knows? proof that you’re crowned one of the best trainers of all regions, hosted by top officials.

Others that have participated and made it to the semi-finals and finals will get 100,000 cash in person.

some things to clarify on kaizen cup

pokemon: you get 12 of them, in the preliminaries you will be using four, INCLUDING two of your partners pokemon in that four. meaning the first team of six, you will not be using two of them. when it says you cannot switch out the same thing, here’s an example: you first swapped two pokemon like milotic and grovyle from your partner. if you managed to get the same partner again you cannot switch out to get those same pokemon back.

battles: the preliminaries and losers bracket will be solely rp’d with yourself, your tag team partner and an opposing team of two people. you each make 5 posts to make 20 notes. godmodding is allowed, like stated you will be judged accordingly due to several factors. semi-finals and finals will be done on pokemon showdown UNLESS asked to be done written like in preliminaries. pokemon showdown wise is just faster, where you use another team for the semi finals and finals with a new partner, both of you will be battling one person each, best two out of three. but it might lean to written forms if its easier and people enjoy it a lot more. if this is the case, it will just be like the preliminaries and you only use up to four once again with the two pokemon swapped with your new partner.

judging: simple enough, hopefully. you will be judged based on how you battle effectively with your partner ic-wise on the field chosen for you at random. if moves you used don’t make sense on the field, say a surf on the lava field, you will be having -50 points taken off.

FIELDS

Lava field - as it is, it is a lava field of your typical imagination. if you need more assistance on images, it can be related to the cavern of groudon’s to a grand scale with actual lava on the ground and heat. bonus 50  points go to these moves used: fire, ground and rock. 

Ice field - as it is, it is an ice field of your typical imagination. if you need more assistance on images, it can be related to the snowy mountain of mount silver, with the ice cold winds, the snowy slopes and the slippery ice. bonus 50 points go to these moves used: steel, ice, water.

Swamp field - as it is, it is a swamp field of your typical imagination. if you need more assistance on images, it can be related to your typical swamp marshes with many drooping trees and toxic waters. please note that you have a high chance of poison if you make contact with these waters if your pokemon  are not a pure or secondary poison type. bonus points go to these moves used: poison and grass.

Name: obviously what is your name Age: age doesn’t really matter, respect doesn’t really matter, but never judge the book by its cover. Gender: everyone HAS to call everyone by their respective pronouns lest we have issues, no? Battle Experience: this is important to some that are participating, because who knows? People might give your muse shit IC for their experiences. Held Items: you have a max of twelve, no duplicates of one. Megastones and z crystals as well count as one if you get them from the judges. Pokemon: up to twelve, make sure you put them in the order you wish to have them in fights. Please list the four moves you are going to use. You MAY use up to twelve  moves for each, meaning, you can change your pokemons move sets for each battle stage. For example, in the preliminaries, you can use four. But if you’re in the losers bracket, you can change that four to another mix. Same goes for semi finals and finals. Reason: why are you joining this? Pride? Conviction? For the prize money? Boredom? Knowing is half the battle.
