my thoughts on this masterpiece by Gooseworx

they were the best part of this episode

No. 1: More Gummy Lizards

this is the only scene that matters ever, thank you. [buddy fr said "pillow time -w-" and plopped down] -> i love that the trio is this comfortable with each other, Gumigoo doesn't even question it

No.2: Cartoon Physics at their FINEST

man's head will not move from that spot 😭

No.3: Yes, there's even more

this entire episode was beautiful, and these three were the stars of the show. The way it alternated between a silly little group of buddies trying to save Gumigoo's mom and existentialism? amazing -> it also, i think, plays into the way a cartoon will start off relatively lighthearted and then go entirely batshit in the second season {gravity falls, owl house, steven universe- yk?}

No.4: Ah... this again

"but you've done this.. for what?" type energy that immediately changes into "for the love of GOD, get this out of me." -> do you think Jax ever stabbed her at one point to see what would happen

No.5: It was supposed to be ME

literally just let him blow up the cosmos, he deserves it -> also, this episode really humanizes Jax a little bit. Not much, but he's not as unflappable as he portrays himself to be. Kaufmo's abstraction honestly affected him, despite his refusal to show it [were the theories right? were they close?]

the introduction of The Fudge raises so many questions about Candy Canyon tbh, especially paired with the gummy lizards need for a truckload of syrup -> Is the princess as altruistic as she appears? Does she genuinely care about all her subjects? Or are there are types that get snubbed? Is there discrimination between hard candies and gummy candies? Is there a gummy princess?

its all so weird, experiencing all of this with you- its like he wasnt awake before he met you... which to be fair... he kind of was, wasnt he?

despite being totally new to it, hes still pretty confident with you. he isnt afraid to kiss you or hold your hand. at worst he might not know exactly where to put his hands, but its not long until he gets the hang of it

he sees you like you were the best thing to come into this universe, like hes constantly falling in love with you all over again every time you interact with one another

its actually a little funny to see!

his tail sways a little as he talks with you, sometimes you can hear it thump against the wall or floor, or really anything that gets too close

oh his eyes definitely turn heart shaped when he sees you, it sometimes only lasts for a few seconds but its still something that happens

A Lost Soul and a Sweet Treat

-Gumigoo and Loolilalu have successfully been added to The Condemned Digital Archives! Let's see what we have here...

Gareth is the sheriff of the countryside of town, despite living in the city (don't ask how he managed to do this). Although does his job fine, Paloma finds him mildly annoying due to how loud he can be with his friends and his love for alligators and gummy candy, usually making the whole hallways smell like it. However, once he was attacked by The Cartoon and saved by Paloma, he starts to think of himself so small in this world...

Thankfully Paloma's blunt words and quick thinking actually help him out of his slump a bit, now willing to help the woman figure out more about these creatures

The Sweetheart, or Loo as Paloma has named her, is one of the more recent entities she's encountered. Slow, but precise, her scent of rotting meat and candy lures in people or animals out of curiosity or hunger, it will use its licorice looking tongues to inject those close to her with a maple syrup like venom which holds an anomalous disease. Said disease will slowly transform the victim into candy, or more so a candylike substance, before the victim is compelled to return to her. She will then eat them once its complete

I love this AU so much! A world based on rhythm games sounds so cool!! And the designs all SLAP!!!!

Not an ask about the lore... but the video game No Straight Roads is action-rhythm based, so it might be cool to have someone like Gumigoo be inspired by that game!

It's funny cause Gummigoo is actually an Agent!

You see, Agents are NPCs that are basically the managers for the idols. Gummigoo was a stagehand alongside Max and Chad who was upgraded TO Agent once Pomni joined into the digital circus

He helps with scheduling, collaboration, and payments per performance! He's nice and considerate, even if a bit rough and tumble due to his routes

What I'm excited for coming soon (TADC episode 2, SpongeBob, and Wallace & Gromit and more)

Okay, I'm going to start with The Amazing Digital Circus episode 2 since it's all my friends and I are thinking about. Just when I didn't think it was going to be better than the first one, I really trust Glitch and Gooseworx with this! I saw the trailer and I'm way more excited, in fact, maybe a little too much. I just know it's going to be fun and hilarious! Although I'm worried that Pomni might get abstracted, I don't want her to abstract. She's one of my favorites but I don't want anyone to abstract really. I'm too attached to these characters! Also, I saw those moments with Ragatha and Princess Loolilalu meeting each other and I love to see girls supporting girls in anything. I find it very healing to my inner child, and also I just like the girl power, it's so refreshing to see! Also, I heard that this will focus more on Jax, who's kind of a jerk sometimes and maybe they'll give him a softer side here, or something to make people feel bad for him, and I like that idea to show that not everyone is all bad or all good. Also, Jax has been stuck in the digital world since he was a teen so you can't help but to feel bad for him. Another thing, that candy elephant thing looks cool and I really hope Gumigoo is voiced by Tustin Macafee. If he's not, it's fine, but I can't think of anyone better for the voice role than Tustin!

As for the new SpongeBob movie, it's gonna be released in theaters and the OG team is going to come back (except for the creator, who sadly passed away a while ago). I heard something that one of the directors said that there will be nudity in the new SpongeBob movie, but I hope he was joking.

Also, I love that they're making fun of AI with this new Wallace & Gromit movie. As an artist, I think people overdo it with AI and that I think we should stop using it for art purposes unless it's only to mess around with and not actually use. I hope they make fun of Disney too. Imagine making fun of both AI and Disney, in an Aardman movie! That'd be awesome! Also, I heard Nick Park wasn't going to work on it at first but he decided to come back (I think he changed his mind after the new Chicken Run 2) and I really hope Wallace & Gromit makes more money than Chicken Run 2.

Also, I'm not much of a Disney fan so I don't care much about the Inside Out sequel or Moana sequel. I think they're really unnecessary, however, I have more hope for the Inside Out sequel than the Moana one, even though I do like Moana better. I feel like Disney should just stick to Kiff and that Molly Magee show or whatever its called, because those are the only two good things that Disney still has left. (Obviously, I'm religious and don't watch shows with ghosts, so I'm just more interested in Kiff but both shows are better than Disney's movies rn).

Finally, the last Bluey episode... I haven't watched it yet and I hear it's really emotional. I don't think I'm prepared for that so I'll stick to watching my favorites, like the beach one. I just hope they don't end Bluey yet, it's the only good kid shows that's still running. Plus, it's from Australia and they deserve to make a lot of money off this show, even though greedy Disney is involved in airing it in my country. I support the foreign shows all the way!

okokokok so that was AWESOMEEEEE and I wanna rant a bit about the characters!

So far Gangle, Zooble, and Caine haven't changed much from what I expected them to be like. (keywords: so far)

Ragatha was showing a lot of her more insecure side in this episode, something I absolutely LOVE. She's not a perfect supporter mom friend, she has issues of her own.

Jax was also showing some more emotion, to me it seems like he hates the child-friendly atmosphere of the circus, getting upset when he has no way to distract himself by causing chaos. I'd guess he feels babied and restricted by it.

Kinger seems to actually be more sane than I initially thought. He's still not there, but he seems to be mostly calm with all the wackiness. Even pointing out he still remembered ragatha first adjusting.

AND POMNI. I LOVE HER. She's mature, supportive, has good problem solving and survival skills, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE her character. She's clearly not comfortable being here, but finds solace in someone who expresses a similar issue and tries to lift them up. At the end when they have Kaufmo's funeral, she sees how much the people here care about each other and realizes they can care about her too.

Gumigoo was such an awesome guy, but then caine just fuckin killed him lmao. Ragatha, bless her heart, tried to cheer pomni up by saying caine reuses npcs, not understanding it wasn't about that. Pomni saw he was sentient. Helped him come to terms with what he was, and I think it helped her too. When caine poofed him away just like that, to her, it was like caine just snapped away another living person. She knows if he ever comes back, he'll just be an unaware AI again. He won't remember her.

This episode ABSOLUTELY delivered, and I'm really looking forward to more!!

hi i just discovered your blog and i LOVE your art. can you do a tutorial on how you do your pop rocks colors? im OBSESSED with it.

this is generally what i do , and it's rough since i rushed it , but this is generally how it goes

this is a normal sketch

messy lineart done with a deep blue hue

colors !!! with basic shadows included . shadows aren't done with multiply or any of that , i just make the color a lil more saturated and move the hue

on an (unclipped) layer on top of the lineart layer , i just color my lineart . very loosely . this whole style is loose most of the time . i also add highlights by lightening the base color and moving the hue in the direction that feels lighter . additionally , i outline my shadows with a slightly darker hue bc it looks cool

(on the same layer as step 4) this is where i go Nuts . the lightest colors of the highlights are always pure yellow and teal , as they're naturally lighter than the other colors , and the secondary highlights are usually a bit more saturated and are blue green and yellow green . for other colors that aren't highlights , i tend to mostly go over the shadows (and the shadow outlines we added in step 4) by picking a color i'm gonna be going over and shifting the hue until it's a similar value/until it doesn't seem lighter or darker to the color i picked . i usually stick to purples , pinks , and blues for this

other things to note:

i tend to stay away from pure red and pure green

i use firealpaca's marker brush , which is like your standard pen brush but it's shaped like a rectangle

i don't think too hard about where i'm placing colors . if i pick a new color in step 5 i'll just put it wherever looks good . don't think about it too hard

unless i'm trying to be cleaner with this , my stabilizer is usually pretty low . i have it set to 10 on firealpaca- for reference , my sketching stabilizer is around 5 (side note: i should also mention that comparing to a lot of my artist friends , i just have my stabilizer really low all the time . my lineart setting is usually like 15 and firealpaca can go up to 40)

^^ i should also mention that stabilizer levels are different between programs just go with what feels right for you

my colors here are always very saturated . they're always either tints or shades , but never tones . mostly tints

^^ i do make exceptions to this if i'm going for a less saturated look (like my gumigoo drawing)

I've always wanted to do a fandom-ified Fallen Angel painting and it turns out The Amazing Digital Circus is the one that worked best for me XD I cranked this shit out over 2 days, most of which was done in one night, which is Very fast considering it is a digital painting And it has 7 characters in it And a full background kind of. I tossed around the idea of drawing Gumigoo as Lucifer instead bc he fits too, but tbh I just haven't really drawn Pomni and I like her design a lot and I wanted to draw her. So There. I didn't draw a guy for once. You're Welcome, Women /j.

Also you have no idea how hard it was for me to not furry-fy Jax I had to try so hard not to just make his head a Realistic Rabbit like i did with bugs bunny i love doing it it's so funny but i like his weird eyes and I wanted to draw them lol

Ngl I'm a lil pissed (at myself) with how quick I finished this bc ive got SO MANY UNFINISHED OFMD DRAWINGS but i am so self-critical bc i love the show so much and I end up never finishing shit 😭 I swear to god i need to stop being such a perfectionist and just Draw My Blorbos. I think it the reason I drew this so easily is because everyone's designs are wacky and completely unrealistic so I don't put so much pressure on myself for everything to be perfect. TLDR i need to stop bein such a baby lol

imma give a lil rant here. i.. LOVE the new tadc episode!!

First off, RIP gummigoo and kaufmo, Lov them dearly, we hold them in our hearts. I've copy pasted my rant from discord so eerrm yuh tw for spoilers

Lets talk about gumigoo. THAT GLITCH CHANGED HIS NON-REALITY LIFE. the fact that the glitch that lagged them under the map, seeing all those npcs, seeing HIMSELF as just a non-moving rig model is truely heartbreaking. From what we've known with the talk he had with his mates, he thinks he has a mom., he thinks he has a family, he thinks he has a life out these walls, and when he found out he was nothing, he.. omg im sobbing. He just thinks he's just some pawn in caine's game, he felt like he was just some obstacle they had to go through, but POMNI thinks of him more than that. Even though she feels like she's been nothing her whole entire life, she doesn't want anyone to feel that same way too, and its just like… MWAH MWAH GODDAMNIT WHYYY

Now, I wanna go and wonder about pomni's dream. Now at least we know that the cast can dream here, but nvm that. During the dream, she was about to abstract and become one with the abstractions n all, but I'm sad that she thinks that the others think of her as this "insane clown" n like "Damn, I guess she's that weak just to be abstracted already" that type of sheet, but when we get to the scene of kaufmo's funeral, she realized that they won't push her away, no matter how hard she thinks of it. They will always be by her side, through each others side, through thick and thin. and omfg AAAAAAAA MY HART.

Speaking of kaufmo's funeral. The kaufmo funeral scene is truly heartbreaking, and they've been doing this with the other characters that abstracted. Now we know it ain't something to sweep under the rug like "Another one bites the dust womp womp" thing, it's extremely a sincere moment, and the fact that Jax ain't here with them says alot. It may mean that he isn't interested in any of that, or he's just in his room sobbing his heart out. Even so, each and every funeral is sad for everyone.. WAIT NOW IM SAD IMAGINE WHAT KINGER WAS LIKE IN QUEENIES FUNERAL NOOO I also wanna talk about kinger's statement, when he said about taking to long for ragatha to get used to the circus when she was there for the first time. Kinger said to Ragatha "I remember how long it took for you to adjust", meaning that he's been here since Ragatha stepped in, has been with her in every panic-attack and mental breakdown she's ever endured. Clearly the dad of all characters.
