she jumps, the fingers around the small, curved knife she carries clenching harder, but she’s already relaxing a little as she recognizes the voice coming from behind her. on the one hand, damn — she’d really thought she’d gotten the timing right, what business does he have skulking around where she’s trying to sneak! — but on the other hand, thank the heavens it’s him. if it were some nameless pair of thickly-armored goons of the moon supreme’s, she’d probably end up trussed up between them no matter what she tried to say.
him, though — him she can talk to.
“hei long-dage,” jieli pouts, turning to face him, the sack flung over her shoulder jingling a little as she does. “a helpless woman like me has to have something to protect herself with, doesn’t she? just think about how i’ve already been treated here! don’t you think it’s reasonable? people try to take advantage of a merchant woman who only has her own reputation to protect her, what else should i do? but i’d never try to use it on you, it’s just for show, really.” actually, it’s much more use as a key than a knife, with a tidy little enchantment on it that helps her reach, ah, difficult places, but she’s not going to tell him that.
“look, i’ll put it away, since it makes you uncomfortable. and you can put away that big sword of yours, and we’ll both be on our way, how about that? i’m sure you’ve got important business with the moon supreme, and i’ve got”—shit, what does she got—”a delivery to make to xiao lanhua!” well, it worked last time, why not? “so, if you’ll just excuse me...” don’t stop me, don’t stop me—

Unveiling Lucrative Investment Opportunities: A Comprehensive Guide
In the vast landscape of finance and economics, the quest for lucrative investment opportunities is perennial. Whether you’re a seasoned investor or a novice looking to dip your toes into the waters of financial markets, the allure of finding avenues for wealth creation is undeniable. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into the realm of investment opportunities, exploring various asset classes, strategies, and factors to consider in your quest for financial growth.
Understanding Investment Opportunities
Investment opportunities encompass a wide array of options for individuals and organizations to allocate their capital with the expectation of generating returns. These opportunities span across traditional assets like stocks, bonds, and real estate to alternative investments such as cryptocurrencies, commodities, and startups. The key to successful investing lies not only in identifying promising opportunities but also in understanding the associated risks and potential rewards.
Exploring Traditional Investment Avenues
1. Stock Market
https://ciolookleaders.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/1.1-Stock-Market.jpg
Investing in publicly traded companies through the stock market remains one of the most popular avenues for wealth creation. By purchasing shares of a company, investors become partial owners and stand to benefit from capital appreciation and dividends.
2. Bonds
Bonds represent debt securities issued by governments, municipalities, or corporations. Investors lend money to the issuer in exchange for periodic interest payments and the return of the principal amount at maturity.
3. Real Estate
Investing in real estate offers the potential for long-term appreciation and rental income. From residential properties to commercial developments, real estate investments can provide diversification and inflation protection to a portfolio.
Navigating Alternative Investment Spaces
1. Cryptocurrencies
The emergence of cryptocurrencies has opened up new frontiers in the investment landscape. Assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum have garnered significant attention for their potential to revolutionize finance. However, it’s essential to approach cryptocurrency investing with caution due to their inherent volatility and regulatory uncertainties.
2. Commodities
Investing in commodities such as gold, silver, oil, and agricultural products can serve as a hedge against inflation and geopolitical risks. Commodities often exhibit a low correlation with traditional asset classes, making them valuable additions to a diversified portfolio.
3. Startups and Venture Capital
For those seeking high-risk, high-reward opportunities, investing in startups and early-stage companies through venture capital presents an enticing option. While the potential for substantial returns exists, these investments carry elevated levels of risk and require thorough due diligence.
Factors Influencing Investment Decisions
When evaluating investment opportunities, several factors come into play, shaping decision-making processes and risk management strategies.
1. Risk Tolerance
Every investor has a unique risk tolerance based on their financial situation, investment goals, and temperament. Understanding your risk tolerance is crucial in selecting investment opportunities aligned with your comfort level.
2. Time Horizon
The length of time an investor intends to hold an investment significantly impacts portfolio construction and asset allocation. Longer time horizons may justify a higher allocation to equities and riskier assets, whereas shorter horizons may favor more conservative strategies.
3. Market Conditions
Economic indicators, geopolitical events, and market trends influence the attractiveness of different investment opportunities. Staying informed about macroeconomic factors and conducting thorough market analysis can help investors identify favorable entry points and mitigate downside risks.
Harnessing the Power of Diversification
1. Diversification
The age-old adage of not putting all your eggs in one basket rings true in the world of investing. Diversification involves spreading investments across various asset classes, sectors, and geographical regions to reduce portfolio volatility and enhance risk-adjusted returns.
2. Asset Allocation
Determining the optimal mix of assets within a portfolio is crucial for achieving long-term financial objectives. Asset allocation involves balancing risk and return by strategically allocating capital to different investment categories based on their expected performance and correlation.
3. Rebalancing
As market conditions evolve and asset values fluctuate, portfolios may drift from their target asset allocation. Rebalancing involves periodically adjusting the portfolio’s holdings to realign with the original allocation, ensuring that risk levels remain in check.
The Importance of Due Diligence
1. Research and Analysis
Conducting thorough due diligence is paramount before committing capital to any investment opportunity. From analyzing financial statements and market trends to evaluating management teams and competitive landscapes, diligent research can uncover valuable insights and mitigate unforeseen risks.
2. Risk Management Strategies
No investment is devoid of risk, but prudent investors employ various risk management strategies to safeguard their capital. Techniques such as stop-loss orders, diversification, and asset allocation can help mitigate downside risk and preserve wealth in volatile markets.
Conclusion
In the ever-evolving world of finance, investment opportunities abound for those willing to venture into the realm of wealth creation. From traditional assets like stocks and bonds to alternative investments such as cryptocurrencies and startups, the possibilities are vast and diverse. By understanding the fundamentals of investing, conducting thorough research, and employing sound risk management strategies, investors can navigate the complex landscape of investment opportunities with confidence and prudence. So, seize the moment, explore the options, and embark on your journey towards financial prosperity.

spare some facts about cillian? 👐 i think "retconning" ocs and making new ones is such a fascinating process
oh anon im so sorry i didnt see this wth !!! thank u so much for asking abt my mans ive been so excited to introduce him and talk abt him over the last couple days !
like i said before cillian is heavily inspired by my last hawke, emeraude, mainly in that they're both half elven. cillian is technically bethany & carver's half brother, and not related to leandra by blood. he was malcolm's first child with an antivan elf who ran away to ferelden (disclaimer i havent played mota and im a lil rusty on the lore so this could still be up for changing lol). she died when cillian was about 2, so he doesn't remember her much and as far as he's concerned leandra is his real mother
all he has of his mother is an old green onyx pendant of hers which he wears under his clothes. he doesn't like letting people seeing it including his fam bc he doesn't want them to think they aren't "enough" for him if that makes sense
he's a rogue! tossing up between shadow & assassin but def another dual wielder like elspeth.
he's a very talented painter as well! though he doesn't do it a lot because after his father's death he became the main breadwinner and he felt obligated to put his energy into more practical stuff. so when he was doing crimes he mainly worked whatever capentry jobs he could find. after act 1 when he comes into the amell wealth he begins painting again.
he and carver both fought at ostagar, and cillian nearly died. the iconic red slash hawke usually has is, in cillian's case, a keloid scar from a darkspawn blade that nearly took his damn nose off :/ that, plus carver's death, plus just the horror of the blight itself and losing his home, TRULY traumatized tf out of him and when he does begin painting again, the blight is a strong inspiration for him. he finds a new appreciate for nature, flowers and plantlife, untainted by the blight. he also misses the forests of ferelden and it takes him a while to get acquainted with city life.
he's always had the lifelong nickname ciller like. like killer lol. it started innocently enough but when he got into his shadier line of work it really stuck. ironically varric is the ONLY person (with anders later) who doesn't use that name, because he notices straight away how uncomfortable and unhappy it makes him. varric just calls him hawke :)
he's very self conscious of his elven heritage. for most of his life he hides the tips of his ears under his hair, until about act 3 when he's accumulated enough power and cynicism confidence to not really gaf anymore.
he's primarily a blue!hawke, although it's a bit murky especially as he becomes more of a mythical figure to kirkwall and less of a person. he's also very reserved and likes hiding vulnerability behind humor. so with a few exceptions most of his friends think of him as a purple hawke, whereas the city sees him as red. at his core though, he's very gentle, thoughtful and selfless to a fault. he can be a complete pushover and really doesn't know how to say no to people, because he's so desperate for love and approval and acceptance. being a half-brother and also being half elven has always made him feel a bit like an outsider everywhere he went, and he compensates by doing the MOST for people who arguably dont deserve it.
speaking of that, cillian is an anders-mancer like i said the other day. after the chantry mess cillian is so broken up over it, but he forgives anders anyway and continues to protect him. he does that by lying and telling everybody that he killed anders so that nobody will look for him. varric and isabela are the only two who know the truth, and subsequently the name "ciller" inevitably sticks even though its. literally not true :(
sorry this was so lengthy but i have so much to say abt him and im thankful that you asked! i havent played da2 in years and this is actually gonna be my first full replay, so if there are any lore issues i'll get around to adjusting them eventually
