Transforming My Home into a Haven: A Review of "Training Your Dogs And Cats Digital - Ebooks"
Living with furry companions is an absolute joy, but let's be honest, sometimes their behaviour can leave us feeling a little exasperated. From chewed slippers to scratched furniture, a little training can go a long way in creating a harmonious home for both you and your pets. That's where "Training Your Dogs And Cats Digital - Ebooks" comes in, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer in my household.
Tumblr media
Understanding the Importance of the Human-Animal Bond
The ebooks go beyond simply teaching tricks. They emphasise the importance of building a strong bond with your pet, rooted in mutual respect and understanding. This resonated deeply with me. I wanted my training efforts to not just curb bad behaviour, but to truly strengthen the connection between me and my dog, Luna, and my cat, Milo. The ebooks provide valuable insights into animal behaviour, helping you see the world through your pet's eyes. This newfound understanding has transformed the way I interact with them, fostering a more positive and enriching environment for everyone.
Tailored Training for Dogs and Cats
One of the things that impressed me most was the program's recognition that "one size does not fit all" when it comes to pet training. Dogs and cats, despite sharing our homes, have very different communication styles and motivations. The ebooks offer specific training techniques for each species, acknowledging their unique behavioural traits.
For Luna, the eager-to-please canine, the ebooks introduced positive reinforcement methods that utilise treats and praise to encourage good behaviour. We've seen fantastic results with commands like "sit," "stay," and "come," and Luna's excitement to learn keeps our training sessions fun and engaging.
Milo, on the other hand, is the epitome of feline independence. The ebooks highlight the importance of patience and respect for a cat's natural boundaries. Positive reinforcement still plays a role, but with a focus on clicker training and creating a reward system tailored to what motivates Milo (in his case, the irresistible allure of a dangling feather toy!).
Accessible and User-Friendly Resources
The ebooks themselves are well-written and easy to understand, with clear explanations and step-by-step instructions. They're packed with valuable information, but never overwhelming. The digital format is fantastic – I can easily access the ebooks on my phone or tablet, allowing me to revisit specific sections whenever I need a refresher or encounter a new challenge.
The ebooks are complemented by helpful visuals like diagrams and photographs, making it easy to grasp even the more complex training techniques. There's also a fantastic glossary that provides clear definitions of key terms, ensuring I never feel lost in the world of animal behaviour.
Building a More Peaceful Home
Since starting the program, I've seen a remarkable difference in my pets' behaviour. Luna's newfound focus makes walks a pleasure, and the days of chewed slippers are thankfully behind us. Milo no longer feels the need to scratch the furniture, and we now share playful moments using the techniques outlined in the ebooks.
More importantly, the training has strengthened the bond between us. Luna's excitement to learn and please me is heartwarming, and Milo now actively seeks out interaction, something I wouldn't have thought possible before. My home feels calmer and more peaceful, and the credit goes to the "Training Your Dogs And Cats Digital - Ebooks" program.
If you're looking for a positive, effective, and accessible way to train your furry companions, I wholeheartedly recommend this program. It's an investment in a happier, more harmonious home for you and your pets.

If you've been a frequent, repeat visitor to this tumblr and you actually follow my "source" links, you'll know that many (if not most) of those links refer you back to the Internet Archive. I spend many hours combing through the archive for images I find interesting and aesthetically pleasing from artist's whose work I enjoy. I then transfer that labor, freely, into "content" for your viewing pleasure (or so I hope). If you were not aware of this, the book industry (which is basically controlled by 5 companies) brought a suit against the Internet Archive in 2020 that claimed that the Open Library program offered by the IA was financially damaging to the publishers themselves through "copyright infringement." During the COVID-19 lockdowns, the IA created the 'National Emergency Library' which removed lending restrictions on lent digital material allowing for expanded access to books at a time when public libraries were, in many cases, not operating (or operating at a very limited capacity). In response to the NEL, four book publishers sued the Internet Archive claiming that CDL (controlled digital lending) was not an example of fair use and that offering books without wait restrictions was a violation of their copyrights. The argument made by the publisher's was only partially aimed at the NEL, the ACTUAL target of their lawsuit was with the process of CDL itself. A lower court agreed and the Internet Archive appealed. The case was taken to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit only to have that court affirm the lower court rulings on a unanimous decision (with some seriously questionable reasoning involved).
What does this mean for the Internet Archive? What about public libraries in general? Read the piece and the links provided in the piece. I don't do in-depth analysis here. I just refer you (dear reader) to smarter people who are putting in the work. I really just dig pictures. Pretty pictures. *Homer Simpson drooling* Seriously though, if the topic interests you, follow the links and do yourself some learning.

We've been redoing the (virtual) back terrace* at the Ebooks Direct offices, and that's meant adding a place where the local fire elemental can just sit down and have someplace to be, you know, fire. Having to stay embodied all the time can start to feel like wearing jeans that're a size too small.
...But more to the point: I've been doing texture and transparency testing on this volumetric fire object—which does just fine at looking like an explosive-based fire—to see if it can be coaxed into doing something else. Such effects in Daz Studio routinely have their opacity settings turned up way too high, so that they look too solid, and therefore unnatural, in a render. The only way to get them to turn out better is to find out how far down you can turn their opacity without the effect completely refusing to display.
So this will be only the first of numerous tests... some of which have already not turned out as hoped. That smoke, for example, so far stubbornly refuses to get any more transparent. And as for the fire, it still looks a bit like someone's just dumped a bit too much lighter fluid in the pit.
(yawn) We'll see how the overnight render turns out...
*If you want to see the terrace near-empty, check out the first slide at the top of the DDCom homepage. The goal is to fill the thing so full of assorted characters I've worked with that there's no room for more. (And some new and interesting possibilities have opened up lately. Daz has suddenly started offering Star Trek uniforms...) :)

When Era rescues a dragon egg from being crushed, she is soon faced with a choice. - To hand it over to the men who wish to destroy the nesting eggs or to face the wrath of the very grown dragons who have come to reclaim those who survived. - When she refuses both sides, she is at the mercy of her now unwilling hosts, who gather the remaining eggs along with the human girl and flee into the seeming sanctuary of dragon territory during a war between both kinds. Only the tiny nestling, hatched of the egg she bears, a water dragon with a kind heart named Keir, and a mysterious fire dragon named Creed, stand between her and the fury of the dragons who harbor her.

Training Your Cat: A Comprehensive Guide to Feline Behavior
Cat training differs significantly from dog training methods. Cats are independent creatures and rarely perform actions solely to please their owners. They often require motivation or a personal interest to comply with commands.
This guide provides valuable insights and strategies for successfully training your feline friend. It covers essential topics to help you understand and communicate effectively with your cat:
Cat training fundamentals
Understanding feline behavior and psychology
Proper discipline techniques
Utilizing available resources for training
Ensuring your cat's safety
Addressing biting and scratching issues
Litter box training techniques
Consequences of not training your cat
By following the strategies outlined in "Training Your Cat," you'll develop a stronger bond with your feline companion and create a harmonious living environment. This guide is an invaluable resource for both new and experienced cat owners looking to enhance their relationship with their pets.
This product is provided without a specific license. Please use the information responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations regarding pet care and training.

Big Media’s lobbyists have been running a smear campaign trying to paint the Internet Archive as a greedy big tech operation bent on stealing books—which is totally absurd. If you’ve ever used the WayBack Machine, listened to their wonderful archives of live music, or checked out one of their 37 million texts, it’s time to speak up. With publishing revenues approaching 30 billion per year in the US and monopolistic consolidation among publishing corporations, the publishing industry is incredibly powerful and moves aggressively to silence dissent.
The Internet Archive’s determination to keep fighting is a big deal!
Here are ways to support:
Sign the petition above.
Join 25+ major civil and human rights organizations in calling for a congressional investigation into surveillance and erasure in digital books—efforts that the Internet Archive is actively fighting against—at https://www.battleforlibraries.com/congress/

So glad to finally see some momentum building to push back against ebook pricing models for libraries. I wish it didn't take huge libraries throwing around "we have millions of dollars" to give us any hope of change, but such is life.
I was in charge of ebook and e-audio purchasing for a small library several years ago, and can remember when they started phasing out their "one copy/one user" perpetual licensing model for popular titles. It seems the leasing model has only gotten more predatory since I left that role. Back in my day we could choose to pay a little less (but still a lot, maybe $30) for the metered access licenses, and the OC-OU licenses were the really extortionate ones but hey, as long as they continue to host that title on their platform your patrons can access it.

Ive been hearimg all about the internet archive lawsuit and my big question is just...
All the 1800-1950 out of print, and out of copyright date, non fiction books... will they be taken down? Because archive.org is a treasure trove for finding pre 1950 and pre 1900 language learning textbooks, ones you cannot find in print to purchase and cannot find in libraries in many countries and if you can its potentially 1 library in one whole country. It is the best place to find old (very old) out of print books, digitally backed up and accessible to many. In the years I've used archive.org for that, some of those books would have check out limits with due dates, and some would be open to view fully on the webpage without checking out.

I've just finished my first novel and am looking for ways to market it. A friend of mine mentioned NetGalley, but I've only ever used it as a reader. Do you know anything about how writers use it?
Thanks!
Ooh, we love NetGalley! I (Pamela) have been a long-time NetGalley user on the reader side, but it definitely has a lot to offer indie authors, too, not just trad published ones.
Check out this post in the Reading Room for the Pros and Cons of NetGalley if you're a self-published author.

...So the problem from the post last night is fixed now. One of the two missing books had somehow gotten the wrong cover on it. The other had somehow embedded itself into two others and had become invisible. (sigh) Never mind: it's all sorted.
Now that the stack for the Everything In The Store images is complete, it becomes a matter of experimenting with various layouts, sets, and camera lenses to see which ones look produce the best results for promotional use. A lot of them will never escape the computer. Some of them are just too silly: others are for testing wildly different lighting rigs to see what happens.
Tumblr media
This one mostly tells me that the books are going to have to be scaled up for better visibility, most places.
Tumblr media
Trying them here on a beach set I've got, which has some of the best daylight in the toolbox. But mostly this is telling me that something needs to be done about the spines on A Wizard Alone and Wizard's Holiday, which are looking really washed out.
(sighing) Anyway, it's late. More experimentation can wait until tomorrow. But at least this problem's solved.
Though now it occurs to me that I may have inadvertently produced another...
