Rewatching Re:Creators has me really wishing the show made a bigger splash. Unfortunately, being trapped in Amazon Prime jail means most people passed it over, which totally sucks because like... the characters, the concept, the animation, the music, the twists, goddamn. Feel like more people should be going crazy over it. Might make a list of reasons why you should watch it, but for now, have this gif dump.

Now that I’m done talking my ass off about Mamika it’s time to gush about my other fav character in Re Creators

Magane is a secondary villain in Re Creators and she’s the kind of villain with no big goals, no long term plans aside from fuck with everybody for her own entertainment. She’s an absolute hedonist and she gives 0 fucks about anyone other than herself. She’s the kind of person fully capable of joking around while someone is painfully dying right in front of her, desperately trying to get their last words out.

She is horrible and I adore her so much.

Magane’s power is fucking cool as shit. She has the ability to turn her lies into truths once people deny them. This makes her a primarily psychological fighter in a show chock full of swords and magic. I wasn’t sure was that all she used because it’s been a good few years since I last watched the show and I tend to compare her a lot to Izaya so knives, but no she’s in a fight right now and all she is doing is dodging attacks and waiting for an opening. She is very much a mental fighter, provoking her enemy and getting under their skin until they slip up and she can gain her advantage. Her weapon is her words and she has a very sharp tongue.

Speaking of Izaya I compare her to him most often cuz she has the same kind of joy for messing with people and absolute thrill for just fucking things up to see where the pieces will fall. Except even for Izaya I’d say he does have an end goal in mind, while Magane does this 100% just because she thinks it’s fun. She lies her ass off and makes every situation worse just because it’s so fuckin amusing to her to watch the trainwrecks she can cause. She’s an absolute headonist who believes life should be lived the way you want no matter what. One of my friends also compared her to Toga and with the absolute giddy excitement she shows in every single move yes she fits her too. A cross between Izaya and Toga, fuckin terrifying. Magane is a shit disturber, she’s a troll, she’s a person who will see you fall down and kick you some more just because it’s fun for her to watch you struggle. She is a person who will pin point your every insecurity, every fear and secret you may be hiding and dig her fingers into it until you bleed. All the while having an absolute fucking blast.

She has so much fun being absolutely irredeemably evil, I can’t not love her.

Also the way she is animated holy shit. Going back to Izaya, if you find it hard to describe why he’s so charming without mentioning how he moves and gesticulates then you know what Magane is all about. She is so animated! She bounces around, she gesticulates, she imitates, she overemphasizes, she dramatizes, she throws around all these facial expressions and throws a whole ass fucking show when she’s talking about something. And her design just makes it so much more fun, like the long braid and the bell just really complete the image. She’s also not very attractive and this is a good thing cuz often female characters aren’t allowed to make ugly expressions because they are supposed to stay appealing. Magane’s face isn’t designed to be appealing, it’s designed to be expressive and I adore it.

She smells your blood in the water and she is coming.

Magane is such a horrible person and such a wonderful performance villain who throws a wrench into everything she walks past. She’s a riot to watch when she gets into it and she’s def one of my favorite villains ever just for having so much fucking fun with being herself.

I really wanted to include a good clip of Magane in the actual show, because you really didn’t see her until you’ve seen her move and god her voice actor does such a wonderful job, but sadly there is very little re creator clips on youtube and those that are there contain spoilers so all I got is this one from her introduction. This is also really fucking great and just the tip of the iceberg, she gets much more expressive and animated when talking to characters who actually matter but still I think everyone should see Magane, as a treat.

My excitement for the new Fruits Basket anime has just been multiplied tenfold. I didn't think that was possible.

I drew Magane Chikujoin. It could be a lot better but it’s reached a point where I can’t touch it without getting some sort of pain in my stomach. I want to draw more similar to this in the future and improve. I hope you like it.
