The day of Benjamin and Theodora´s wedding had come. The bethroded hadn´t talked or even seen to eachother since their parents told them about their planned marriage and Benjamin felt it was high time to do so.
Leaving his parents and future in-laws talking outside, Benjamin walked in to the church where his sisters were waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He walked up to his Magdalena and cleared his throat, "Magda, do you know where Theo is?"
“I believe she´s getting ready in the sacristy," she said, giving him a sympathetic look, "how are you feeling, brother?"
"I´m fine," he sighed, "thank you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Benjamin knocked on the door and heard a quiet "come in" from inside. When he entered and saw his childhood friend dressed in all white, silently sobbing with her face buried in her hands, his heart sank. My dear, dear friend, he thought, how I wish you wouldn´t be crying on your wedding day.
Tumblr media
Benjamin kneeled down in front of the crying girl, "Oh Theo," he mumbled, "it´ll be all right."
Theodora looked up at him, wiping the tears from her cheeks, "yes," she nodded softly, "I´m being dramatic."
Tumblr media
He grabbed her cold hands and squessed them thight, "no, you´re not. Cry if you want to, God knows I have," he whispered, "listen Theo, I swear to you I´ll try my best to make you happy, as a friend or as a husband. We don´t ever even have to share a bed, if that´s what you wish. We decide how this will work, no one else."
Theodora had stopped sobbing, but tears still trickled down her face, "I know you´ll be good to me, that´s not my worry. It´s just-," her voice thickened, "well, it´s just that I wish to have children some day. But as you said, perhaps we´ll never share the marital bed."
"If you wish to have children, we´ll have children," he reassured her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theodora stood up, smiling bleakly, "thank you," she whispered and embraced him, "you´re my dearest friend."
They stood there for a while in a silent embrace before Benjamin finally broke away, "come now, I think it´s time."

"And here it would seem from some ambiguity in her terms that she was censuring both sexes equally, as if she belonged to neither; and indeed, for the time being, she seemed to vacillate; she was man; she was woman; she knew the secrets, shared the weaknesses of each. It was a a most bewildering and whirligig state of mind to be in. The comforts of ignorance seemed utterly denied her. She was a feather blown on the gale."

Henry and Atticus Jamsesh OOC
Myself and @adjacentperception have been letting our boys chill out together in the Concept Space lately while we're chatting and working out some writing energies and the like. Today, Henry and Atticus got together for a jam sesh (Henry on violin and Atticus on guitar) while me and Zip were hanging out with our friends in the real world, and when we got back this fun little moment happened and I thought y'all would like it: ---------------------------------------------------------------
Henry: =suddenly aghast= I DIDN'T TEACH HIM THE SONG ABOUT THE GIRL WITH THE LARGE DONKEY Belle: This is an ass joke, I just-- Henry: IT'S A SONG ABOUT ASSES Belle: =sigh=
Atticus: =separately, elsewhere= aw fuck he didn't tell me about the ass song Atticus: =sprinting back through the conceptual ether= YO Atticus: NASTY SONG [Zip: this is important]
Henry: =rifling through his things for his bow and his journal where he wrote all the lyrics= I learned this one from a very drunk woman in Gale's Port, literally drank my ship's first mate under the table and stole his coinpurse. She may have been my first love. Henry: =immediately starting a dramatic chord like it's the national anthem of the USSR or something= ANYWAY, this is a song about Magdelena Horace and her fat, fat donkey.
Atticus: =crying laughing @ the song and the tale and just the theater of it ALL= Atticus: You are literally one of the coolest people. Atticus: This is the best thing. I'm dead. Fucks sake dude. Atticus: Worth it. Thank you for this. I'll have to think of something equally as good to throw back at you.
---------------------------------------------------------------
LYRICS (as best as I can do them, I'm not a songwriter and don't know what I'm doing at the best of times but ENJOY)

FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: Pacific Prescription: Leukemia Cyclone by Magdalena Louise Hirt
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/pacific-prescription-by-magdalena-louise-hirt/
A storm, engine problems, or a ripped sail can halt your #sailing dreams. For this #traveling family of six, it was not weather, mechanics, or techniques, it was #leukemia. From the middle of the Pacific, after the Marquesas, the Tuamotu Atolls, and Tahiti, sailing had to come to an abrupt stop. Just living life became the challenge. Poet Magdalena Hirt and her family stayed State-side to save her brother who was diagnosed with #AML Leukemia, and then returned to continue their journey onwards to Moorea and Bora Bora. In Pacific Prescription: Leukemia Cyclone, there are #poems of dreams and poems of #survival. In sequential order, these poems tell the story of the #ocean and sacrifice.
Magdalena Louise Hirt has a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Toledo and a Master of Letters from the University of Highlands and Islands for Scottish Highlands and Islands Literature. Magdalena has multiple published articles in Cruising World, one in Enchanted Living, and another in Literary Traveler. Her first four poetry chapbooks, Levels of the Ocean, Her Sea-filled Arms: Layers of Blue, Pacific Pieces, and Pacific Prescription: Leukemia Cyclone are available for purchase. One more chapbook, Her Bloody Project, and her first book, Distant Story Blue, are due to be released by January of 2025. Currently, she homeschools her four children and writes from her sailboat, which is a Westerly 49, named Selkie. Their family of six sails to circumnavigate the globe. So far, they have completed an Atlantic circumnavigation and a Pacific crossing. Magdalena enjoys cooking and dancing—most of the time together. With pen, spatula, and helm in hand, her sailing soul belongs on the sea where she chooses words, academics, ingredients, and destinations. Follow their story at www.sealongingselkie.net.
PRAISE FOR Pacific Prescription: Leukemia Cyclone by Magdalena Louise Hirt
In her most overwhelming collection yet–Pacific Prescription—Maggie Hirthas taken on the full impact of being willing without hesitation to save the life of her brother. This is poetry for anyone with even a twitch of empathy and an itch of curiosity. Hirt lives a life most of us discover only in dream, aboard a sailing vessel where she lives all over the watery globe with her husband and children. On another idyllic day, she is informed that her brother has leukemia. They test her blood. She’s a match. Without hesitation she says, “Yes,” to a transfusion and is at his side. The poems move from a stunningly magical evocation of her world at sea to that of terror. I will tell you the ending. She’s back aboard, her brother recovering, the ship, her family back “sailing and away from it all” yet carrying it all. Why tell you? Because the book is asking you to enter this personal world altering experience. The poet doesn’t want us caught up in wondering if it all works out. Hirt’s work has always been arresting. In this collection, she has developed a fascinating use of line and form to evoke and embody roiling emotional tidal waves. Pacific Prescription is a collection torn from the heart, yet it is never self-involved. Instead, we are. Are we ever.
—Jack Ridl, author of Practicing to Walk Like a Heron, named finest collection of poetry by ForeWord Reviews, and All at Once, to be published by CavanKerry Press, autumn of 2024
Every sailor faces stormy weather and, on many voyages, they encounter storms with no escape. This leaves only one option: face the gale head-on. To do this with success, one must assemble a wholehearted crew to rally around a single purpose —weather the storm to save the vessel! Just like sailing, life has its own storms; some can be navigated, while others are unavoidable. When a storm raged into my life in the form of AML Leukemia, I had no escape. Like a sailor watching the dark clouds gather and winds build, knowing what turbulence lies ahead, I listened to doctors and looked to my wholehearted crew. Along with my assembled crew of supportive family and friends, we pointed our ship, my ship, into the storm. Our one cause—save the vessel, my vessel. My sister Maggie was fast to keep me from sinking, volunteering to donate stem cells to save my life. I believe, just as she eagerly underwent hardships so I could survive my storm, in Pacific Prescription: Leukemia Cyclone, Maggie has keenly communicated the highs and lows of living dreams and helping others live theirs, promoting leukemia awareness. Follow her poems as she takes you on a journey from ocean to hospital and back to ocean again.
–Benjamin Schakel (brother)
This is a love story in poems, from a woman whose loves are far-reaching. She launches us into her passion for ocean and returns us there after a global voyage of sea-faring and life-saving with and for her family. This is vivid, reflective writing from a perceptive and compassionate mother, sister, sailor and, above all, poet.
–Mandy Haggith, writer

The Queen and The Duchess (4/?)
In 1532 another male child was born, George of York. That same year the wife of the Prince of Ireland Charles, Catherine of Austria died giving birth to her third daughter, María Magdalena, creating a great inheritance problem due to the lack of a male child. The Dukes of York did not think so and offered their newborn son as the future King of Ireland to keep the Tudor surname, in addition to his sex. This did not please Charles thinking that they could take advantage of the Irish crown, but little George was supported by the Boleyn family, some other noble families such as the Seymours, The Howard, the Cleves and even the Emperor Charles V thought that it would be the best option. than the prince's daughter, Henrietta Tudor.
In 1533 the wedding between the Prince of Wales, Edward and his cousin, Eleanor of York was celebrated, being a very celebrated event in England and even in Germany. The couple had been in love since they were children and it is known that Edward was an attentive husband, as well as calm like his father the King.
In 1535 Charles "of Ireland" declared his eldest daughter, Henrietta Tudor, as heir and this did not please his uncle, Henry Tudor and he wanted Charles to compromise his daughter with his, but the prince would only accept if the child was only king consort of Ireland and that none of her family intervened, something that displeased the Duke.
Henry, despite being married to the woman he claimed to love, had different lovers, but his favorite was always his wife's sister, Mary Boleyn, who was previously the lover of the King of France Francis I. Anne, dead of jealousy, decided to marry her sister with a French nobleman, François de Lorraine, taking her away from England and Henry.
The duke began to fall ill around the year 1541 and it is believed that he had syphilis infected by a prostitute, he remained in bed for a few months weak and his attractive face began to deteriorate. At the beginning of the year 1542, the Duke of York died at the age of 51 without having dictated a will, being succeeded by his first son, Maximilian of York.
The death of the duke was felt by the royal family, but more so for Ana Bolena because she and her children were unprotected before her stepchildren, Maximilian who was declared Duke of York and Eleanor of York who would be the future queen. from England. Maximilian I of York exiled his stepmother from the duchy and the court once his mourning ended, but he granted her the "favor" of keeping his stepsister, "Duchess Elizabeth" under his protection and that he could march with his youngest son, George.
In the end, Anne went to France with her youngest son George, being received for a few years by her sister, Mary Boleyn, who was Countess of Lambesc. Maximiliano granted him part of her inheritance, which was hers, her jewels, her horses, and a pension from her for having been the duke's wife.
In 1544 the Queen of England, Catherine of Aragon began to present serious health problems and she had to remain in bed for months in which she was cared for by her own husband, Arthur, who did not separate from his beloved wife. her. In the end the queen she passed away that same year of a supposed cancer in the heart at the age of 60.
It is believed that the King after learning of the death of his wife fainted at the impression of this news. Her death was painful for her children and for England who remembered her as her great queen.

After one of her weekly meetings with the women’s suffrage group, Magdalena stayed behind to show Irene Billingsley one of her manuscripts.
She sat in quiet suspense, watching to older woman read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This is brilliant, Ms. Gale,” Irene finally said and sat down next to Magdalena, “you have quite a way with words. You write on a machine, no?”
Magdalena nodded excitedly, “thank you Ms. Billingsley, I do!”
“Very impressive,” Irene said. She seemed to think for a while before clearing her throat, “I have a proposition. Would you like to come work for me, or for us? We’re expanding and need a new secretary. There’s also talk about starting a monthly newsletter, so if you’re interested perhaps you could write columns for that as well.”
Magdalena let out an involuntary squeal, “my goodness, of course! I’d be honoured!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That night, Magdalena stood in front of her parents´ bedroom door, gathering up courage to tell them the news. Finally she knocked and Alice opened the door, "Magda," she smiled, "did you want something?"
Tumblr media
"Good evening mama, may I come in?" Magdalena asked, Alice nodded and gestured her daughter inside, "good evening, papa."
"What´s on your mind, dear?" Alice asked and walked over to Eugene.
"Well, I´ve been offered work," Magdalena said slowly, "it would be six days a week, monday to saturday. I´d still have time to help out at home," she swallowed nervously, "I´m going to accept."
Tumblr media
"Why, of course you will!" Eugene exclaimed.
Alice walked over to her daughter and hugged her tight, "congratulations my love. We´re very happy for you."

A Spark in Search of a Powderkeg
Rebellion is its own justification, completely independent of the chance it has to modify the state of affairs that gives rise to it. It’s a spark in the wind, but a spark in search of a powder keg.
André Breton
If only one thing has brought me joy in the last few weeks, it began when the matriarchs at Unist’ot’en burned the Canadian flag and declared reconciliation is dead. Like wildfire, it swept through the hearts of youth across the territories. Reconciliation was a distraction, a way for them to dangle a carrot in front of us and trick us into behaving. Do we not have a right to the land stolen from our ancestors? It’s time to shut everything the fuck down!
Tawinikay (aka Southern Wind Woman)
The toxic cargo carried in Canadian pipelines, whether it be tar sands oil or fracked liquid natural gas (LNG), is, according to all serious climate scientists, a major, perhaps even decisive contribution to global warming, i.e. ecological catastrophe.   Meant to fuel industrial expansion, the pipelines have themselves become fuel for revolt. Designed to move these dirty fossil fuels from one location to another, they are a crucial element in normalizing the dubious paradise of unlimited growth in awe of which all obedient consumer/citizens are supposed to genuflect. In what the colonial mapmakers have called British Columbia (BC), resource extraction has always been the name of the game. However, the emergence in February of this year of a widespread oppositional network ranging from “land back” Indigenous warriors to elder traditionalists and from Extinction Rebellion activists to anarchist insurrectionaries was heartening. Railways, highways and ferries were blockaded, provincial legislatures, government administrative offices, banks and corporate headquarters were occupied. The catalyst for this rebellion was a widespread Indigenous uprising that refused the illusory promises of reconciliation. Together, these rebel forces disrupted business as usual in solidarity with the Unist’ot’en Big Frog clan of the Wet’suwet’en tribal house.
As objective chance would have it, the primary Indigenous land defense camp is situated not far from the same Hazelton, B.C. area to which surrealist Kurt Seligmann and his wife Arlette had journeyed in 1938. During that time, they visited Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en villages, marveled at the imaginative power of the totem poles and ceremonial objects, made field notes, shot 16mm film, collected stories and recorded mythic histories. Now, in 2020, growing numbers of these same Indigenous peoples have been threatening to bring the Canadian economy to a grinding halt. Unwilling to be bought off by corporate petrodollars or mollified by a legal system that has never done anything but pacify, brutalize, or betray them in the process of stealing their land, Indigenous peoples passionately fought back against the forces of colonial law and order in a radical whirlwind of willful disobedience and social disruption. One action built upon another in creating a rolling momentum that seemed unstoppable. When one railroad blockade would be busted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), another would spring up in its place elsewhere extending the frontlines of the battle all across the continent. Then the debilitating Covid-19 virus arrived to compound the damage that had previously been done to the capitalist economy by the incendiary virus of revolt. The resistance of these Indigenous communities against the pipelines concerns all of us, worldwide, since they are on the front lines of the struggle to prevent cataclysmic climate change.
In the future, a key question will be whether Canadian authorities can successfully put the genie of Indigenous rebellion back in the colonial bottle of “reconciliation”. As surrealists, we hope they will not, and we stand in solidarity with the unreconciled insurgent spirit of defiant Indigenous resistance. A new reality is to be invented and lived instead of the one that today as yesterday imposes its environmental miserabilism and its colonialist and racist hierarchies.  As surrealists, we honor our historical affinity with the Kwakwaka’wakw Peace Dance headdress that for so long had occupied a place of reverence in André Breton’s study during his lifetime before being ceremoniously returned in 2003 to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island by his daughter, Aube Elléouet, in keeping with her father’s wishes. With this former correspondence in mind, we presently assert that our ongoing desire to manifest the emancipation of the human community as distinctively undertaken in the surrealist domain of intervention is in perfect harmony with the fight of the Indigenous communities of the Americas against globalized Western Civilisation and its ecocidal folly.

Postscript: During the process of gathering signatures for the above declaration, we were inspired to see its uncompromising stance against white supremacy and police repression reflected in the brightly sparkling flames of the Minneapolis uprising that lit a powder keg of pent-up rage and incited an earth-shaking eruption of spontaneous rebellion in the streets of America. It was only fitting that in solidarity with the uprising about police brutality kicked off by George Floyd’s execution/lynching at the hands of the police, anti-racism protestors in the United States would take direct action by beheading or bringing down statues of Christopher Columbus, genocidal symbol of the colonial expropriation of Native American lands. Gale manor has some family history. It was once owned by HIRM Empress Magdalena, wife to the first Emperor of Marasea. The Empress used it as a holiday home and was a gift from her her husband on their wedding day. The property is also were she died, 5 years after her husband. The property was eventually sold and has passed between various owners none of which were financially able maintain the property. It has now remained empty for almost four decades. As a Windsor, Lady Joanna has access to billions and her husband is a millionaire in his own right. Now back in the family, the pair should have no problem maintaining the property.
Their child, despite not having a title, will be one of the wealthiest members of the family.

The expanisve Manor spans several floors, boasts two reception areas a ballroom, several bedrooms and a large dining room

The impressive price tag is due to the numerous amounts of priceless pieces of art work and the ornate golden architecture.

Emperor Demerius had the property extensively decorated for his bride and spent 1 million simoleons on the renovation; around 50 million in todays money.

Despite the happy news, there is worry in regards to how safe it is for Lady Joanna to have this child. At almost 50, Lady Joanna will be a geriatric mother, and with that comes certain risks, such as a miscarriage, premature birth and other life threatening complications. Now in her second trimester, Lady Joanna will be monitored extensively at both N&W Memorial Hospital and will have an in house Midwife to monitor her pregnancy 24/7.
Congratulations are however due for the newlyweds. We look forward to meeting the newest addition to the Family.
