Imagine joking with like Malcom and the other humans and reader says "I like older men" and Malcolm's like "clearly" while point at caesar. Old man caesar we all say in unison.
YOU DID THIS TO ME I ---
It was nice to have a conversation with another Human, you thought dimly and handed Malcolm a wrench. Rusted around the edges, but it was still sturdy enough to use as he muttered a small ‘thank you’ to you. There was nothing of consequence to be said, other Humans liked to shoot the breeze. Apes… Not as much, you smiled at that. They took things in stride, surely, but the idea of small talk was not well established and most conversations were of substance and had deeper meaning.
The topic on the docket today as you helped Humanity out in a good deed set by the King of Apes himself, setting you to assist in getting the power back at the Dam so they could leave and never return, was the concept of actors. Primarily the ones you liked, having cringed a few times at Malcolm’s favorite choice, understanding and leaning more into Ellie when she began pestering about how much of a looker that Jeff Goldblum had been. Malcolm’s face contorted in confusion, “Really? Outta any guy out there,” He scoffed at his wife and it left her smiling towards you with a mild flushing and a roll of the eyes, “You pick that goofy lookin’ dude?” “We like funny guys.” You commented hap-hazardly, grateful on the inside that nothing you were saying was being analyzed into oblivion by the Apes carrying rocks behind you, out from the bellows of the Earth and teetering upwards to sit on the Sun. You thought about that briefly, how even now in the more primitive nature of the Apes, they were still able to metaphorically move mountains and level plains.
“The funnier the better.” Ellie noted, looking back at Alexander as he pulled her attention away. Malcolm nodded and processed that, letting his gaze fall back on the great King himself for a split second as he bargained a bit before drawing his eyes back to yours, “Funny?” “Funny.” Grinning down at your hands, the heat hit your cheeks and suddenly the chill that was brought against your spine was gone and replaced with static sitting uncomfortably, but not unwelcomed by any means, against your tailbone. You shuffled your feet stagnantly in your crouched position, resting your fingertips on the ground momentarily so as to not lose your balance and fall down the small flight of stairs behind you.
His gaze said it all, you knew, he knew as he nodded again in acceptance, this time with a wry chuckle and a small sarcastic ‘Never would have thought.’
“Let me guess,” Malcolm said clearly this time and squinted his eyes to focus on a particular yellow wire, used you assumed, to plug into the dashboard to get the power flowing freely, “You like them hairy?”
“Nah,” Joking, you could feel the density of Caesar’s fur on your fingertips at the mere idea hitting your mind. So hard on the surface, but once you dug deeper in, it became soft to touch and you yearned to grasp it and yank hard enough to command his attention. “I like them older though.”
Wiggling your eyebrows at your fellow Human, you raised your eyes to meet the ever piercing gaze of Caesar as you finished your statement staring straight into the green embezzlement that could get you to submit without even a word, “More experienced, if you catch my drift.”

how they met...
you weren’t expecting to be here, like, at this premiere.
you’d gotten the invite two weeks ago, assumed it was a mistake, triple-checked it anyway, and then you figured what the hell, "how to train your dragon" was one of your favorite comfort movies growing up, and the idea of seeing it live action before everyone else?
hell-fucking-yes.
honestly, you were really excited— sure you didn't really know anyone going, especially mason the cast, but YOLO, right? and yeah, okay, maybe you did notice mason thames followed you months ago. liked one of your "grwm" tiktoks and then never interacted again.
totally casual.
totally not something you reread at 2 in the morning while spiraling about whether your makeup looked good in that lighting.
you assumed his follow was an accident. or pity. or even curiosity. maybe everything.
so when you step out of the car at the premiere, barely clinging to your phone and your sanity, you’re thinking about the popcorn. the screen. the dragons.
you’re NOT thinking about mason thames standing five feet away from you on the carpet, talking to someone, looking at you like you just stepped out of his dreams.
you glance around. try not to stare.
he’s dressed sharp. chain visible under the open collar, hair perfect, screaming in that I didn’t try but I actually did kind of way
you lock eyes for a second, expecting him to look away.
he doesn’t.
he actually walks toward you instead, smooth, casual. like he’s not completely freaking out inside.
great. isnt this wonderful.
“hey,” he says, voice way lower than you thought it’d be. “didn't expect to see you here.”
you blink, laughing a little. “you know who I am?”
he smiles like he’s trying not to, like it’d give him away. "you’re literally all over my for you page. you did that ‘get ready with me while i panic’ video last week. you started crying mid-eyeliner.”
your stomach drops. how utterly embarrassing.
"hey man, that was a joke, well, it started as a joke—” “it was funny,” he cuts in. “also weirdly relatable, and kind of impressive that you still got the wing right.”
you blink again. “you actually watched it?”, his gaze softens. “o'course, i like funny people.”
before you can even think of something to say that doesn’t sound like uhhuhblushdie, the moment’s cut short by a camera flash.
the fuck ass paparazzi.
then another.
then three more.
many of them shout something toward you, somethings gross, barely masked as a questions.
“who’s the pretty plus-one?"
"your dress that short for the cameras or for him?”
"hey, gorgeous, where’s that dress really meant to show off?”
“yo, mason, how old is she? this your new girl or just your premiere toy?”
you flinch. not because of what they said, you're unfortunately used to the noise, but because of the way they said it. the tone. the implication.
like you're less of a person and more of a headline.
then a paparazzi lowers his camera, yelling something like: "who’s the pretty plus-one? your dress that short for the cameras or for him, sweetheart?”
unfortunately, or should i say, fortunately, mason hears them too. you see it in his jaw first, then his eyes. you open your mouth to say something, but before you can even think—
he shifts in front of you, not dramatic, not loud, just enough to put himself between you and the cameras.
his voice stays calm but sharp. “back off.”
a few of them go quiet. a few keep clicking. but his eyes are locked on the one who made the last comment.
"don’t talk to her like that,” he says. “you don’t talk to anyone like that, especially someone who isn't even 17 yet, so back the fuck off"
he glances over his shoulder, just once to check on you. and that’s the part that hits hardest.
not the anger.
not the protectiveness.
the way he looks at you like you matter. like this isn’t about saving face or avoiding headlines.
this is about you.
you nod, eyes wide, trying to keep your cool. “you good?” he asks, eyes scanning yours.
you nod. heart racing. “yeah. thanks.”
he leans in, voice barely above a whisper now. “you want me to walk with you inside?”
you should say no.
"yeah. i’d like that.”
the next day...
you wake up to your phone blowing up. notifications, messages, tagged posts, the whole deal.
the first thing you see is a clip, mason stepping in between you and the paparazzi, "-so back the fuck off.”
you groan, the video was everywhere.
you sit up, going straight to your usual filming area. you prop your phone up: no vanity lights on, natural sunlight seeping through your curtains.
you hit the live button.
despite it being 11am, you reach thousands of viewers almost instantly, a certain someone joining as well.
you appear on screen: hoodie on, no makeup, bedhead, knees propped up to your chest, full-on panicking into the camera.
“guys. i literally went to a premiere to watch dragons fly around and eat popcorn, scout for potential huzz, AND NOW THE ENTIRE INTERNET IS CALLING ME MASON THAMES' MYSTERY GIRLFRIEND, LIKE HELLO?!?”
you play the viral clip on your ipad: mason stepping in front of the paparazzi, “-so back the fuck off.”
you turn your tablet off, "LIKE, WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO? SAY ‘THANK YOU KING’ AND KEEP POSING?? LIKE HELLO?!?"
you groan into your hands. "for ANYONE saying we're dating, we are NOT. i met mason thames for the first time YESTERDAY"
you spin around in your chair, "MASON! get the fuck out my live bruh, you aint helping the allegations"
he comments: "well, you did kind of stand there, blinking like a shocked little frog."

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Critique:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great Things about this Movie:
Debates what it means to be human, and how humans can be more animals than ape
“They’re just smarter apes” just like us?
Raises amazing self reflection questions, what we need to survive and be happy really what we need? Or just what we want?
Can we find peace without a destructive modern society?
The Caesar vs Koba rivalry demonstrates not only what a good leader but how hate persists past trauma alone, and forgiveness and trust will always outlive hatred and resentment
Demonstrates not only the horrible results of war in a nuanced manner but also its uselessness
Shows positive masculinity through main characters like Caesar and Malcom by comparing them to war driven, hateful, aggressive men like Dreyfus and Koba
Bad Things About this Movie:
Lack of female perspective: most of the movie is propelled by male protagonists
Only woman is a doctor who lost a child, and the only female ape in the movie is Caesar’s wife and Blue Eye’s mother
There is a major portion of the movie that could have been driven by women or solved by a female perspective, however in order for the story to progress I understand that it needed to be more of a manly action movie than anything
Does depict war as something that’s not only singular to humans, which is only semi-accurate and spreading a message I would not prefer to be spread—as animal’s already have a bad rep and human’s have a superiority complex
Overall I loved it! Always very good movies, a wonderful trilogy, and the story is full of heart and action, it’s absolutely amazing. Only lacking what female perspective and protagonists could add.

Wanna write a Dawn of the POTA fanfic but need some help with the timeline since I don’t have access to the movie.
At what point does Koba and the other apes find the armory? Is it before Carver pulls a gun on Cornelius or before? And when does Koba go the second time to kill the 2 humans — this is before he gets into the fight with Caesar at the dam, right?
So if I remember correctly it’s: Malcom asks for help -> Caeser, Koba and other apes follow him to the dam -> the humans work on the dam and while this is happening (over the span of the 3 days) Koba goes to the city and finds the armory -> they’re all chilling at the dam until Carver pulls out his gun (Koba isn’t here for this) -> while this is happening (within the 3 days) Koba goes to the city again and kills the humans -> he returns and has that fight at the dam with Caeser -> that night he shoots Caeser.
Do I have the timeline right?

Scetticismo, come minimo!
Monkey strikes back

Apes Evolution

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Jason Clarke e Andy Serkis in una foto del set
