As a continuation of my Finns in F1 post, what about Spain?
There has always been a Spanish F1 driver since 1999 (Some drivers may come up multiple times due to multiple stints in F1)
Marc Gené (1999-2000)
Pedro de la Rosa (1999-2002)
Fernando Alonso (2001-2018)
Marc Gené (2003-2004)
Pedro de la Rosa (2005-2006)
Jaime Alguersuari (2009-2011)
Pedro de la Rosa (2010-2012)
Roberto Menhi (2015)
Carlos Sainz (2015-Current day)
Fernando Alonso (2021-Current day)
There have been 15 drivers from Spain. Between the 15 of them is 121 podiums, 33 wins, 25 pole positions, 27 fastest laps, and 2 WDC
Interestingly, the only thing the Spanish have over the Finns is amount of drivers.
Fernando Alonso is responsible for 32 wins, 104 podiums, 22 poles, 23 fastest laps, and 2 WDC.
5 of the drivers did multiple sints in F1, Pedro is the only one who had 3 F1 stints.

So, this is more or less my day at Port Vell, in Barcelona!!
I've got lucky, meeting there Albert Fábrega (the man of the F1 tech talk videos), Marc Gené (Ferrari engineer), Pedro de la Rosa (ex F1 driver and Aston Martin Ambassador), Pepe Martí (F3 driver) and obviously Carlos Sainz!!
I couldn't get near Carlos as there were lots of people there and he left almost as he finished talking (after he gave some signed caps and signed and took selfies with a few lucky fans)
I could though record lots of videos of him talking (in where my friend's and my voice is there over Carlos' 😅), photos and a few selfies with Marc, Albert and Pepe!
They were all supernice (even if they aren't people used to fans, like Marc face can tell AHAHAHAH)

By order, the signatures are from:
1. Pedro de la Rosa 2. Marc Gené 3. Pepe Martí 4. Albert Fábrega
And now, the important, the pics I could take of Carlos speaking

I was far away from him and my phone doesn't have a great camera but still ❤️🥹

Day 5 of team analysis, from a Scuderia to the arguably better one
Today: Scuderia Ferrari
1st drive - #1 Kimi Räikkönen
Tumblr media
Coming from the most successful stint in his career, the Iceman will find himself with quite high espectations. Many fans hope Kimi will be able to defend his and Ferrari's titles, finding it hard for the opposite to be true
2nd drive - #2 Felipe Massa
Tumblr media
Despite finishing 4 with only 16 points, the Brasilian was cause for speculations talking about a possible replacement with Fernando Alonso. Now of course we know that deal didn't happen, but Massa will have to put up quite the performance to keep his relations with Ferrari as strong as they are now
Reserve and test drive(s): Luca Badoer and Marc Gené

Int.: “Marc spoiled us you wanted to take pole for the tifosi, with or without tow... "
Charles: “Who told you this?”
Int.: “Marc Gené!”
Charles: "Ah, Marc! I thought you said Max, why would he [Max] say this?”

Say a prayer to Marc Gené and Carlo Vanzini, whose brains will freeze this year if they can’t talk bad about Lewis knowing he will be in Ferrari next year 😅
Nico Rosberg's presence will make up for them

the sky italia crew is kind of annoying for other reasons but marc gené is so funny every time charles does something he starts hyperventilating like i am convinced he ages 10x every race like the true leclerchino he is. last night after charles' overtake on perez vanzini (the other commentator) was waiting to see whether he'd gone off track and marc was like "no he did not. he didn't. i mean, i didn't see, but HE DIDN'T!" he's just like us fr

Btw, I really don't understand the people that criticise Charles' race, I feel like we watched two complete different races.
Yes, he made a mistake at the start, but he made up for that with a flawless and amazing race: he managed to build a good race pace to challenge the leading car in such tricky conditions on a circuit that, in itself, is already a difficult one (if not the most difficult), he took various risks to maintain said pace and gap, he entered almost every corner sideways, it always seemed the car was about to go in the wall. This adrenalinic situation was so stressing, that Marc Gené, one of the two race commentators for Sky Italy, said that he couldn't look at Charles' on board anymore, because it was about to give him an heart attack. Yet, thanks to his car control, he took the car home and secured his, very well earned, 2nd place.
In this race Charles gave everything, as always. I don't know why people are saying that he drove 'poorly', I really can't comprehend such statements. All I can do is to advise them an eye exam, so maybe next time they'll be able to see how talented this boy is 🙃.

Marc Gené just confirmed Sainz tow helped Charles in just 0.16, so Charles would have still gotten pole yesterday without it.

English:
*Marc Gené asked Carlos about the Sim, if he had one at home or if he only considered it work, Carlos answered that he only considered it work, this is why*
I mean, I was in Monaco, on Monday I woke up in Monaco, then I went to Maranello, on Tuesday I was on the simulator, then I took a plane and went to Madrid and today I've come here, to Barcelona. When do I have time for the simulator at home? Never, the only time I have I'm with my family, with my girlfriend if I have one, eh… Company or I don't… or I don't have a life outside racing and more.
And well, it is something that entretains me, the simulator. When I go I work hard on it because I know it helps me for… for Formula 1 and for example, I prepared a lot this weekend, we've tried the new aerodynamics pieces, we've developed the set-up, we've tried to adapt the car to those pieces… But, I come back from a race and I have to go to the simulator, and then I go to another race and the again into the simulator… You don't have time for other things then.

No supera la maldición de Singapur... ¿casualidad o causalidad?.
