what happened to thing glitching and becoming normal when fionna and cake touch them

what about the show cheers? why was the last episode named after it when it played almost no part

why is prismo glitching?

ASIDE FROM THAT

I both love and feel unsatisfied with the finale

It felt like Simon was spoonfed his revelations

the final episode felt like a rushed attempt at a ‘and they all lived happily ever after’

what happened to the rest of farm world Finn’s family? Did he die? Is he okay with his son leaving to go to another world forever? What about the other children?

why does Simon move on so fast? Not even a year? And he has to get basically spoonfed by a choose your own adventure book to come to the realisation his relationship with Betty was not exactly healthy

Also what happened to Marceline and regular Finn? Did they not notice Simon disappearing for a week? We needed more interaction between them!

but srsly I had tears in my eyes after ‘The Star’ and comparatively the ending feels shallow where everyone gets to live happily ever after and everything is fine with no heartfelt reunions or residual feelings about what just happened

did Simon just not tell anyone he went on a crazy multiverse adventure? Or was he just like lol this happened to me… MOVING ON! It isn’t shown if any of the people close to him know what he went through

Like yeah the whole premise of I Remember You is that its fucked up for Marceline. But like even before they get proper into how their relationship has affected her now that hes not really Simon anymore.

Imagine how fucked up it would be if youre just hanging out at your house and then this guy who looked after you when you were a kid and made you feel loved and cared for when you felt alone, and this guy just shows up and starts asking you to help him write a song to pick up your ex-girlfriend. Like what do you even do at that point

STILL hearing people say that Marceline and Princess Bubblegum “came out of nowhere” is mind-boggling. I don’t know how you can read

sniffing another’s girl’s t-shirt that you sleep in

giving up said t-shirt to get back the girl’s beloved childhood stuffed animal

blushing when you compliment another girl’s handwriting

having a coma dream about growing old with another girl

and taking a girl to dinner to meet your mentally-unstable-sorta-dad

as “platonic gal pals”???

I think it’d be interesting to explore Marceline, PB, and Simon’s relationship post Ice King.

Ice King harassed PB relentlessly for a while, even if he calmed down after a while. PB has to hold resentment whenever it’s brought up, even subconsciously. PB also had hurt Ice King sometimes unprovoked or used his confused brain to cause harm (Wizard City, What have you done and The Cooler come to mind), often acknowledging she was being excessive.

Simon isn’t passive but he feels guilt and shame about being Ice King and it’d be interesting to have a scenario where PB jabs at something he did in that state in front of Marcy and see how she reacts cause Marcy acknowledges that Simon didn’t do those things and shouldn’t be blamed, but also understands the hurt Ice King caused can’t just be ignored.

The two most important people in her life were at violent odds at one point. The slate couldn’t have been wiped clean just cause he was uncursed.

Ugh I had the saddest dream last night.

Bubblegum invented this dream machine bc she was tired of dreaming up inventions and then forgetting them in the morning. She explained to Marcy and Finn that it was meant to bring forward ideas the conscious mind had forgotten.

So Marcy gets the idea to steal it and use it on ice king. After some trial and error, it works only not how Marcy wanted. Simon in his dreams is just basically reliving his normal prewar life and any memories after the crown don’t really reach him. Marcy pleads for him to remember her but whenever he gets close, the both of them wake up.

So Marcy once again can only interact with her father figure as a stranger to him. It doesn’t matter that this Simon is sane and put together, he’s a remnant of the past stuck in his old routine. He can’t meaningfully engage with the future.

The dream ended with bubblegum tracking them down after multiple nights of search and entering the dream spitting mad at Marcy only to see her friend sitting blankly at a kitchen table watching a man cheerfully make breakfast and ignoring her entirely. PB asked if Marcy got what she needed and if it was worth it. Marcy responded it never is.

I'm sorry I dont know why, but anytime I see a Marceline-focused highschool/modern au fic with both Simon and Hunson tagged, my mind can't help but immediately go to this:

Oh wait this is fucked up actually. Marcy grew up around Simon while he was actually already under the effects of the crown (both physically and mentally). He was already unraveling by the time they found each other, even if he still felt like he was 'himself', so Simon as we know him, regular-ass Simon, would be in ways a kind of stranger to her. Physically, in his appearance and presence decoupled from the effects of the crown; situationally, what with them not being in a barren wasteland and whatnot; emotionally and personally, with Simon maybe doing things or showing himself to be things that Marcy didn't know to expect. And add to that how much they've both changed over the course of their lives since they separated...

While Simon managed to see her life through Ice King's eyes for a while, I like to imagine the memory is fuzzy at best and entirely unreliable at worst, so — in a way, truly, their reunion is them getting to know each other all over again, in a new dynamic, but with the base of that same old, foundational relationship; that same old, old love.

And I'm so normal about it.

Now that Fionna and Cake is over I'm gonna peace off of Tumblr for an indeterminate amount of weeks to cope with the fact Marceline and Simon didn't interact at all in the last two episodes and that just kind of ruined everything for me. And to put the whole "seize your universe" thing into practice a little.
