In november las ik 13 boeken. Van mijn topfavoriet ben ik nog altijd stil. Welke dat is, ontdek je hier.

November was niet alleen in Antwerpen boekenmaand. Er was Boektopia, Voorleesweek, de voorstelling van de nieuwe Grote Vriendelijke 100 en voor het werk mag ik ook nog een opleiding Jeugdliteratuur voor bibliotheekmedewerkers volgen. Gevolg: veel prikkels en een uitgebreide WIL-lijst om de winter mee door te komen.November, maand van de doden. En dat zal mijn boekenlijstje geweten hebben. (more…)

Ein wenig neidisch ist Karen Eiken Hornby schon auf Luna, die berühmteste Sängerin von Doggerland, die eine geheimnisvolle Aura umgibt, der auch Karens Partner Leo offenbar gerade verfällt. Nach Jahren des Rückzugs will die Sängerin wieder ein Album veröffentlichen und hat nun im Geheimen die Aufnahmen mit Leo und dem Team gemacht. Als sie zu den finalen Aufnahmen nicht erscheint, wird Karen gebeten, inoffiziell zu ermitteln, nur wenige Tage später jedoch gibt es schon wieder Entwarnung und Karen kann sich einem viel dringenderen Fall widmen: ein Serienvergewaltiger scheint wieder zugeschlagen zu haben. Nachdem er bereits im Herbst Frauen brutal misshandelt hat, ist nun ein weiteres Opfer zu beklagen und wieder kann dies kaum Angaben zum Täter machen. Vier Frauen, die nichts gemeinsam zu haben scheinen, doch irgendetwas muss sie verbinden. In ihren Romanen macht Adolfsson sie zum Schauplatz der Ermittlungen ihrer eigenwilligen Kommissarin Karen Eiken Hornby, die im Abschlussband gleich zwei Fälle bearbeiten muss, während sie selbst ziemlich angeschlagen ist.

 Die Suche nach der Sängerin Luna wird zunächst vor allem durch negative Emotionen Karens geprägt, sie ist sich ihrer Beziehung zu Leo, die nach wie vor weitgehend undefiniert ist, nicht sicher und lässt sich durch die strahlende Diva völlig aus dem Gleichgewicht bringen. Dies hindert sie zwar nicht daran, genauso akribisch und ernsthaft wie immer ihre Nachforschungen zu betreiben, aber die Stimmung zu Hause ist mehr als vergiftet. Auch der zweite Fall geht ihr nahe, die Brutalität, mit der der Täter immer wieder zuschlägt, ist kaum auszuhalten. Offenkundig treibt ihn ein tiefer Hass, was für sie die Vermutung nahelegt, dass er seine Opfer gekannt und sich von diesen gedemütigt gefühlt haben könnte.

 Nachdem mich „Fehltritt“, der erste Teil der Reihe, restlos begeistern konnte, weil Adolfsson eine unglaubliche Welt erschaffen hat, die man sich mit dem rauen Klima leicht bildlich vorstellen kann, ließ mich „Tiefer Fall“ etwas enttäuscht zurück, da sich hier die Handlung etwas in sich selbst verirrt hatte. „Fester Grund“ punktet dieses Mal nicht mit der Insellandschaft, sondern mit zwei interessanten Fällen und einer wieder überzeugenden Protagonistin, die neben dem scharfen Verstand und auch ihre Schwächen offenbart und so genau jenen Bruch zwischen mutiger, unerschrockener Ermittlerin und leicht zu verunsichernden Partnerin schafft, der sie zu einer vielseitigen und authentischen Figur macht.

 Ein klassischer nordic crime, der keine Wünsche offenlässt, außer vielleicht jenem, dass die Trilogie auch bei uns fortgesetzt wird, im schwedischen original ist nämlich inzwischen ein vierter Band erschienen.

Öppna famnen på Fasching

Vänkvällen den 5 juni blev till ett stort, hjärtligt famntag – Fasching visade åter sin stora öppenhet mot en bred, dynamisk tolkning av vad vi kan beteckna som ”jazz”. Och den briljanta kubanska duon Alberto Rodriguez (piano och sång) och Pedrito Martinez (allahanda slagverk, sång och dans (!) gav publiken – glädjande stor i det pangsommarväder som konkurrerande utanför – en innerlig kram i rytm och ton.  

En ljudbildsmässigt skakig inledning gav snart rum för ett sprakande samspel mellan Rodriguez flödande piano – från små rännilar över kvillrande bäckvatten till brakande vattenfall - och Martinez mer än rikhaltiga uppsättning av slagverk, samtliga trakterade utan några andra redskap än bara händer. Födda och uppväxta i Havanna och i relativt tidig ålder emigranter till var sin sida av USA fann de två varandra 2014 i ett samarbete under inspelningen av Rodriguez skiva The Invasion Parade. Samarbetet blev efterhand allt intensivare, mycket tack vare ikonen, superarrangören, demonproducenten - och Sverige-vännen - Quincy Jones. Resultatet kan avnjutas på albumet Duologue, producerat av Jones. Men framför allt i live-format som den här kvällen!

Från starten igår blev det så uppenbart för oss hur nära de afrikanska rötterna duon opererar. Pedrito Martinez uppväxt och tidiga engagemang i fusionbandet Afro-Cuban/Afro-Beat band Yerba Buena har gett en stabil grundingrediens för den cocktail som serverades den här kvällen – några av oss kände sig nog transporterade raka vägen till modern afrikansk dansmusik. Lite som att höra västafrikanska poprytmer – Martinez lite uppfordrande sätt att sjunga påminde  mycket om Salif Keita - mixade med tydligt karibisk melodik och mer än ett stänk hemlandsnostalgi. I några nummer sjöng Rodriguez/Martinez duett, till dels modulerad med vocoder och i ett annat briljerade Martinez med att smeka fram rena melodislingor ur sina congas. Suggestivt, indeed!

Och till detta en påfallande nära kontakt med publiken där alla – inklusive det dussin glada Fasching-vänner som haft den goda smaken att ta plats igår - tog till bästa sångstämman i några påtagligt melodiska partier. Och dessutom fick Martinez upp en partner ur ståplatspubliken för en minst sagt uttrycksfull dansuppvisning. Klackarna i taket! Fin kväll!  

Fint var det också att vi kunde hälsa en septett nya medlemmar välkomna i Faschings vänförening - tack alla som på detta sätt ger sitt stöd till Fasching!

Sverige valdes in i regeringskommittén för Unescos 1970-års konvention

Sverige valdes den 16 maj in i regeringskommittén för Unescos konvention om åtgärder för att förbjuda och hindra olovlig import, export och överförande av äganderätt av kulturegendom (den s.k. 1970-års konvention). Sveriges representant i kommittén är Maria Adolfsson, antikvarie på Enheten för förvaltningsärenden och bidrag på Riksantikvarieämbetet.

Vid en presskonferens på Vasateatern i Stockholm idag meddelades Guldbaggenomineringarna för filmåret 2016. I täten med åtta nomineringar ligger Hundraettåringen som smet från notan och försvann. Jätten och Min faster i Sarajevo kommer efter med sex nomineringar och sen finner vi Flykten till Framtiden och Den allvarsamma leken på delad tredjeplats med fem nomineringar var.

Guldbaggegalan arrangeras av Filminstitutet i samarbete med SVT på Cirkus i Stockholm den 23 januari 2017.

Nomineringskommittén 2016 bestående av 34 ledamöter i fyra grupper har genom juryförfarande kommit fram till följande nomineringar till 2016 års Guldbaggar. Nomineringarna står i bokstavsordning.
