Background: Born and raised in Lima, Ohio, Harriet had always known that they were different from most other kids around them, they just couldn't place in what way. These feelings continued to bubble up until they finally figured out that they were a lesbian when they were in elementary school and then that they didn't adhere to gender norms in middle school. Shortly after this, their father left for a vacation and never came back. For the longest time, Harriet blames themself for their father abandoning them and their mother, until they realize that they can't change who they are to make others happy. Harriet began playing soccer as a goalie at a young age and got better and better at it over the years. Always intent on giving everyone a chance and making changes, Harriet begins demanding that McKinley High open a girls' soccer team, even if they could possibly be barred from playing on it. After countless signature hunts and threats to go the news, the school board relents, and the soccer team is formed. Harriet had nursed a crush on Santana Lopez since the eighth grade but always knew that it was doomed to go nowhere. When the New Directions are formed and Santana joins them, Harriet hopes that there is a slight chance of their crush being realized. What follows is three years of back and forth, trying to make a mark in the school's history, and trying to get their damn degree all while causing a ruckus in town with Lauren Sizes every single weekend.
