The Notebook. Theater Review.

"The Notebook" is based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The 2004 movie was directed by Nick Cassavetes, from a screenplay by Jeremy Leven and Jan Sardi. In its current Broadway production, the book is by Bekah Brunstetter and the music and lyrics is by Ingrid Michaelson.
The musical has two directors: four time Tony nominee Michael Greif and Schele Williams who is making a Broadway debut. Williams is also going to be directing the highly anticipated "The Wiz" which is opening in April.
In the current musical we get three Noah's and three Allie's... younger, middle and older. For the most part the six are good; I thought that the younger Allie (Jordan Tyson) was woefully miscast. Where Allie came from money, was a proper girl, this younger Allie ex-hued none of that. More like an inner city persona, Tyson was just not believable.
In Brett J. Banakis gorgeous set design we get a wonderful slide movement throughout the two hours fifteen minutes.Equally as effective is the sound by Nevin Steinberg and the costumes by Paloma Young. The effective orange and blue lighting by Ben Stanton too made the mood well in tune with the plot.
The musical for the most part was very similar to the movie, two young people fall deeply in love with one another and even though ten years has gone by, they never stop thinking of each other. The key to the musicals success is that the three different sets of Noah and Allie need to all be effective. Whereas Maryann Plunkett as the elder and Dorian Harewood as the husband are excellent, we get the best interaction between Joy Woods and Ryan Vasquez, the middle aged actors; their singing and body language is captivating. The two are silky smooth on stage! Even though John Cardoza holds up his end as the younger Noah, it is Tyson who is an anchor around his neck. Even though Tyson has a very good singing voice, her Broadway debut falls flat.
The two opening scenes, both first act and second act fire on all cylinders. It is the second act, however, where this show excels. The songs, the pace and the story all come together nicely. Songs like "We Have To Try", "Forever", "It's Not Easy", "I Know" and "Coda" were all well sung songs; the lyrics too were catchy and fit the moment of the plot. The first act too had some nice songs: "Time", "Leave The Light On", "If This Is Love" were most memorable. Having some great moments in the first act, it still didn't compare the the afternoons second act.
For the romantics out there, "The Notebook" is for the most part an entertaining show. The choreography (Katie Spelman) is underwhelming, as is some of the ensemble cast. Allie's parents: Andrea Burns and Charles E. Wallace are not moving in their parts. Burns was much more effective in her role as nurse Lori.Neither actor brought depth as parents to Allie, they were mostly robotic and aloof.
.....................................................................................................................
Next up is Water for Elephants at The Imperial Theatre. This musical is based on the circus and maybe a real sleeper when it comes a show that may just wow the audience.
Since many good shows have opened but unexpectedly closed in a rather quick fashion (Spamelot, Days of Wine and Roses, Shucked), this musical may surprise to the upside.
It seems that shows that aren't unanimously well received, and in Shucked case was, are closing with not spending much time on the great white way.

Quote
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned from the study of neuroplasticity is that the mental capacities, the very neural circuits, we develop for one purpose can be put to other uses as well. As our ancestors imbued their minds with the discipline to follow a line of argument or narrative through a succession of printed pages, they became more contemplative, reflective, and imaginative. “New thought came more readily to a brain that had already learned how to rearrange itself to read,” says Maryanne Wolf; “the increasingly sophisticated intellectual skills promoted by reading and writing added to our intellectual repertoire.” The quiet of deep reading became, as [Wallace] Stevens understood, “part of the mind.”

Out of Many, One People
Design: Hines Architecture + Design
Location: Kingston, Jamaica
Out of Many, One People Jamaica’s motto is the central theme in this successful international design competition win. The design proposes that singular elements can formulate a unified architectural vision and figuratively is referential to the formation of a democratically elected system of governance.
The design presents an opportunity to transform downtown Kingston by implementing urban design strategies focused on enhancing walkability, revitalizing urban parks and streetscapes, introducing site sustainable innovations, and designing a public realm that focuses on community and civic functions. The design stands as an enduring reminder of the connectivity between the government and the citizens it serves.
This project design endeavors to challenge traditional building design typologies. It establishes an iconic form that is progressive. The building form presents a thoughtful approach towards monumental architecture while remaining respectful of the existing National Heroes Park, the largest public park in Kingston, Jamaica.

Trump says niece Mary was ‘not a family favorite’ after slamming her book as ‘stupid’ and ‘vicious’
Donald Trump has hit out at niece Mary again, this time calling her tell all book about their family ‘stupid and vicious’.
The president told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that she was not a ‘family favorite’ and that he and his loved ones ‘didn’t have a lot of respect or like for her’.
His scathing attack comes after the release of Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man in which Mary Trump, a trained psychologist, said the president suffered ‘child abuse’ at the hands of his father’.
Mary Trump says ‘love meant nothing’ to Fred Trump Sr and he only wanted obedience, which the President was forced to give him.
Donald’s mother became ill when he was two years old, leaving him with ‘total dependence on a caregiver (Fred Sr) who also caused him terror,’ Mary writes.
But on Sunday Trump hit back, saying: ‘My father liked to win. My father was a very good man. He was a strong man.’
The president told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that she was not a ‘family favorite’ and that he and his loved ones ‘didn’t have a lot of respect or like for her’
His scathing attack comes after the release of Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man in which Mary Trump, a trained psychologist, said the president suffered ‘child abuse’ at the hands of his father’
Rounding in on Mary, who is the daughter of his eldest brother Fred Trump, who died in 1981 due to complications from alcoholism, he added: ‘I would’ve never said that except she writes a book that’s so stupid and so vicious and it’s a lie.
Admitting that it ‘hurts’ for his family to be ‘attacked’, he said: ‘My father was a great, wonderful man.
‘It hurts me more about attacking my father, not being kind to my mother. I have a mother who was like a saint. She was incredible. She was an incredible woman and she [Mary Trump] was nasty even to my mother.
‘She’s [Mary] a very scarred person. She was not much of a family person.’
After admitting his dad was ‘tough on all the kids’ he said his niece was ‘not a person that I spent very much time with’ adding that he is now ‘glad’ of that fact.
He added: ‘For her to say – I think the word she used was psychopath – what a disgrace. She ought to be ashamed of herself. That book is a lie.’
The president has already called Mary a ‘mess’ and claimed that his parents couldn’t stand her, while also accusing her of breaking the law.
He tweeted Friday evening, calling her ‘a seldom seen niece who knows little about me’, adding she ‘says untruthful things about my wonderful parents (who couldn’t stand her!) and me, and violated her NDA.’
Donald Trump added: ‘She also broke the Law by giving out my tax Returns. She’s a mess!’
On Sunday the president hit back, saying: ‘My father was a very good man.’. The president is pictured with his siblings from left to right: Robert, Elizabeth, Freddy, Donald and Maryanne

Mary Trump responded to the tweet shortly afterward tweeting ‘5.23 million v. 5.11 million’, a dig at her uncle’s fascination with TV ratings.
The number referred to reported views of Mary interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Thursday versus the reported views of the president’s town hall with Fox News’ Sean Hannity in June.
She added the hashtag #seldomseen.
It was revealed Thursday that Mary L. Trump’s scathing memoir about her uncle has sold nearly a million copies from preorders alone.
Publisher Simon & Schuster revealed that the book, named ‘Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man’, sold a company record of 950,000 copies in combined print, digital and audio editions as of its date of sale, earlier this week.
Simon & Schuster were also the publishers of John Bolton’s ‘The Room Where It Happened’, which sold nearly 800,000 copies in its first week when released last month.
Trump and his allies had tried to stop both books from coming out, alleging that Bolton had revealed classified information and that Mary Trump had violated a nondisclosure agreement.
Judges in each case denied requests for injunctions.
The president has already called Mary a ‘mess’ and claimed that his parents couldn’t stand her
Publisher Simon & Schuster revealed that the book, named ‘Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man’, sold a company record of 950,000 copies in combined print, digital and audio editions as of its date of sale, earlier this week
In her book, Mary Trump has claimed that she heard her uncle use the n-word and anti-Semitic slurs and that the family engaged in casual bigotry throughout her childhood.
The White House has called Mary’s allegations ‘a book of falsehoods’, adding: ‘The president doesn’t use those words.’
Mary described what her family engaged in as ‘a knee-jerk anti-Semitism, a knee-jerk racism.’
‘Homophobia was never an issue because nobody ever talked about gay people, well, until my grandmother called Elton John’ an anti-gay slur,’ she also told The Washington Post.
In the book, she describes her grandmother Mary calling the choice to have John sing at the funeral of Princess Diana ‘a disgrace’ and said he was a ‘little’ six-letter slur.
She said that led to her decision not to come out to her family.
Mary Trump was secretly engaged to a woman, but had to push back her wedding because her grandfather, Fred Trump Sr., had died.
Trump also discussed coronavirus ‘disappearing’ with Fox host Chris Wallace Sunday
In another explosive section of the book, in which she describes the president as being unfit for office, Mary Trump writes that her uncle paid a friend named Joe Shapiro to take his SATs for him so he could attend the University of Pennsylvania’s famous Wharton School of Business.
Ex-tennis star Pam Shriver, the widow of Trump pal Joe Shapiro from Penn, said last week her husband never met the future president until they were at business school together – so he couldn’t have taken President Trump’s SATS.
Mary also described President Trump’s 2016 campaign as being racist several times in the book.
‘He did tap into a certain bigotry and inchoate rage, which he’s always been good at doing,’ she wrote, pointing to the 1989 New York Times ad the president took out demanding that the Central Park Five – a group of five black suspects who were cleared of assault and rape charges – be executed.
Trump also discussed coronavirus ‘disappearing’ with Fox host Chris Wallace Sunday and was probed on whether he will be a sore loser should Joe Biden win the presidency come November.
The president called into question the presumed Democratic nominee’s mental state and bragged about the results of his own cognitive test.

Launch: An Internet Millionaire's Secret Formula to Sell Almost Anything Online, Build a Business You Love, and Live the Life of Your Dreams Audiobook
[Audio Books] Launch: An Internet Millionaire's Secret Formula to Sell Almost Anything Online, Build a Business You Love, and Live the Life of Your Dreams Audiobook by Jeff Walker
Whether you’ve already got a business or you’re itching to start one, this is a recipe for getting more traction. Think about it—what if you could launch like Apple or the big Hollywood studios? What if your prospects eagerly counted down the days until they could buy your product? What if you could create such powerful positioning in your market that you all but eliminated your competition? And you could do all that no matter how humble your business or budget?
Jeff Walker has been creating hugely successful online launches since 1996. After bootstrapping his first internet business from his basement, he quickly developed an underground process for launching new products and businesses with unprecedented success.
But the success train was just getting started—once he started teaching his formula to other entrepreneurs, the results were simply breathtaking. Tiny, home-based businesses started doing launches that sold tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and even millions of dollars in sales with their launches.
What you have in your hands is the treasure map into that world—an almost secret world of digital entrepreneurs who create cash-on-demand paydays with their product launches and business launches.
Whether you have an existing business, or you have a service-based business and want to develop your own products to leverage your time and impact, or you’re still in the planning phase—this is how you start fast. This formula is how you engineer massive success.
Now the question is this—are you going to start slow, and fade away from there? Or are you ready for a launch that will change the future of your business and your life?

Can we hear about your fallout ocs? 👀
Yes, yes you can
Tumblr media
-wiggles fingers- these are my lovely ladies
Fair warning for those reading, the Fallout universe can get EXTREMELY dark. A handful of my ocs experience very intense things involving heavy drug use and sexual assault (though I won't be going extreme detail on either), so please bear that in mind before reading on.
TW for mentions of drug use, rape, forced prostitution
-
Millie Dubrovhsky - Fallout 1
The og vault dweller! Millie was a teacher in Vault 13, married with a little girl of her own. She's incredibly naïve and woefully optimistic, choosing to blot out any negativity or danger that crosses her path rather than face it head on (this does not last).
She also has the bloody mess perk. If you know, you know.
Ruthie - Fallout 2
Millie's grandbaby. She's big and buff and powerful, but also not very bright. Most everyone thinks her mother came up with the Chosen One prophecy to hide the fact that she had a fling with some wandering vagrant that visited the tribe.
Ruthie's hard and reckless, but she tries her best
Annie Soo - Fallout 3
My lone wanderer, and the one who's arguably been around the longest! She's a brat and a prodigy and a daddy's girl who falls in love with every boy she meets. After her girlfriend breaks up with her and she loses her home, she decides to let loose in the worst ways possible (lots of sex and hard drugs like jet)
There are zero consequences to her actions (turns out there were many consequences to her actions)
Charter - Fallout New Vegas
My courier six. Real name is Sofia Rivera. She moved from her hometown of Arroyo in order to become a famous singer in New Reno, but was trafficked into prostitution by her "manager." After being arrested by NCR on drug charges, she escapes their women's correctional facility and returns to Reno in order to slaughter the men who put her there.
After fleeing Reno, she finds a dead mojave express courier on the side of the road. Decides to take his name and his job. Anyone who questions this has a habit of winding up dead the next day.
Maryann Wallace - Fallout 4
My sole survivor. She's a hardened perfectionist and an absolutely ruthless lawyer who rarely ever loses a case. It's evident that she cares more about winning than upholding the law when she helps a man who very clearly murdered his wife and brother and got off with a light sentence (and then she marries said man).
She's the definition of a cold-hearted bitch, even in the wasteland.
Roelyn Foster - Fallout 4
Originally my courier six before she got shelved for Charter, now she's just a side character I keep for 4. A really kind and down-to-earth gal with a mysterious past. She showed up on Piper's doorstep one day and now she just sort of lives there, babysitting Nat whenever the journalist is away from home.
-
anyways thank u for asking about my girls, I love them all very much

Jedna z najciekawszych książek, które czytałem w zeszłym roku – „The Shallows. What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains” Nicholasa Carra – stara się przekonać, że pod wpływem internetu dzieją się z naszymi umysłami przykre rzeczy. Mnie przekonała.
Tumblr media
W efekcie teksty dyktowane skrybom i zapisywane scriptio continua, w porównaniu do współczesnych, zawierały więcej powtórzeń i były mniej uporządkowane.
To oczywiście dodatkowo upośledzało odbiór czytanych treści.
Pisarze piszący w prywatności swoich gabinetów zawiązywali bardziej intymną relację z pisanym tekstem, pozwalali sobie na większą swobodę wyrażania poglądów i flirt z bardziej transgresywnymi ideami.
To właśnie te zmiany stanowią według Carra klucz do zrozumienia unikalnej roli książek.
By użyć odrobinę wyświechtanego pojęcia – takie zachowanie jest zupełnie nienaturalne.
Jednak by czytać długie teksty, trzeba wprowadzić się w stan skupienia, niemal transu.
Nazywając rzeczy bardziej wprost, chodzi o wynalezienie komputera, jak i późniejsze połączenie komputerów i zawartych w nich danych i aplikacji w światową sieć internetu.
Nic trudnego, Google Books zaprowadzi cię do konkretnego paragrafu w kilka sekund, bez konieczności przewrócenia choćby jednej strony. I bez konieczności zrozumienia jakiegokolwiek kontekstu.
Pisanie w internecie zachęca do specyficznego sposobu przekazywania treści.
To wyjaśniwszy, chciałbym polecić kilka linków prowadzących do rzeczy wartych waszej uwagi.

Facebook Twitter WhatsApp Email

“Eu sempre tive muita acne.

Kamila malha diariamente, realiza esportes e dança. Foto: Wallace Rosa

Me sinto bem para usar qualquer look”, contou.
Sossego

“Minha alimentação é sempre regrada, sempre me cuidei.
