AO MD F: Rinky Hijikata/Jason Kubler [WC] def. Hugo Nys/Jan Zielinski 6-4, 7-6(4) Match Recap
🎥 Wide World of Sports Australia
The fairytale run ending for the Australian wildcards, Rinky Hijikata/Jason Kubler in the Australian Open, will be determined by the outcome in the finals against Hugo Nys/Jan Zielinski, who also contested their first Grand Slam final as a pair. This match, as the earlier flow suggested, had an exciting flow from the start.
Nys/J. Zielinski took a set to finally match the pace set by Hijikata/Kubler. This could be identified with how J. Zielinski missed a volley to start in their service game. Kubler/Hijikata's early, accurate anticipation caught the point, especially when they aimed for down-the-line shots. In one example, the return made J. Zielinski got run over right at 1-1* 0-15, opening a path for the Australian pair to break–before they eventually break early at 2-1. Right several games later, they successfully served for the set at 6-4.
In the second set, Hijikata/Kubler's swift returns caught more attention, despite Nys/J. Zielinski ending up holding the service games and being able to neutralize the break opportunities. One of the notable shots were a cross-court backhand return from Hijikata before a working volley to lead 2-2* 15-30. Furthermore, points construction entered the chat as Hijikata carried the whole point in a net exchange with Nys, which ended with a forehand winner to lead 4-4* 15-30. However, nobody faced break points until the tie-breaker was needed at 6-6 to settle the pair that prevailed.
The tie-breaker was a separate rollercoaster, with constant momentum shifts until the middle of the occasion. Kubler's reflex on a net exchange helped him and Hijikata to lead 2-1, before Nys/J. Zielinski caught up with an unreturned serve (and Hijikata's volley misfire) at 4-4. Kubler's perfect return timing ripped a forehand down-the-line winner to secure the mini-break at 5-4, securing 2 match points right after Hijikata's forehand carriage. An epic rally was closed with J. Zielinski's forehand error at the net, resulting in the match point conversion for the Aussies.
This marked Hijikata/Kubler's first title together, even more iconic with winning it on a home slam. Hopefully, this title could pave a path for Hijikata's rise and Kubler's resurgence as they progressed, as for the latter, he just came back from an injury. Additionally, this could be a positive start of the season for Nys/J. Zielinski, having yet to reach another final higher than a 250 before today. On to the next one, mates!

HC that Chester and Norris also don't kow who Augustus is. Both or one of them might think is Jonah, but they don't really know. They never actually heard Jonah, Is a new voice and even if Jon knew everything once is hard to think inside a computer even less to remember all that information. They are just trapped in barely existence in a Windows NT with someone who might or not be their biggest enemy and if someone were to check the secret notes encrypted in the accient notes app they would find a weird conspiracy board over "who is here with us".

ITF M25 Netanya (Jun 26) SF: Yshai Oliel [7] def. Edan Leshem [1] 5-7, 2-0 ret. Match Recap
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yshai Oliel's point to break 3-1 (top left), Edan Leshem's point to break 5-4 (top right), Yshai Oliel's break point creation to *5-4 30-40 (bottom), 1st set (📸 ITF Media)
A local blockbuster was set to start the day in Netanya as seventh seed Yshai Oliel, who defeated Orel Kimhi in a double breadstick scoreline yesterday, took on seventh seed Edan Leshem, who previously defeated Jordan Hasson 6-1, 7-5. However, when the first set delivered, the second was something else.
Initially, Oliel had a bright start by pressing Leshem's baseline game more. His forehand winner became the reason he broke 3-1 before he consolidated to 4-1. However, Oliel's errors resulted in Leshem being back to the match, having a 4-4 equalizer before breaking to 5-4 thanks to a working volley. Leshem then had the chance to serve for the first set, but Oliel's volley opened the path for a break-back to 5-5. The former took that personally by breaking back 6-5 before he successfully served for the first set 7-5.
Yshai Oliel's break point conversion to 2-0 (prior to retirement), 2nd set (📽 ITF Media)
However, things went south right as the second set started. After Oliel held his service game 1-0, he broke after Leshem's series of errors. Somehow, likely due to an injury (or other situation), Leshem had to retire afterward, while he still had to contest the doubles finals unless it is too risky for him to continue. All well-wishes.
In the singles finals, Oliel will face the winner between wild card Ofek Shimanov and second seed Filip Peliwo, which match is ongoing as this was written. Ofek had an interesting run within the fortnight by reaching last week's quarterfinals and defeated the likes of eighth seed Ben Patael (second round) along the way. Could be an intriguing final along the way.

Week 33/2023
CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar (WWE Summerslam 2013) - Rewatch. Amazing underdog gets wrecked performance by Punk and Brock does good shit too, namely throwing Punk around very creatively and calling him babygirl. They are both very gross and sweaty and they do some MMA shit. Absolutely love when Punk got Brock in a triangle choke and Brock just keeps slamming him on the mat.
CM Punk vs. Jimmy Rave (ROH Manhattan Mayhem 2005) - Rewatch. This is less of a wrestling match and more of an undernegotiated scene. Punk bleeds incredibly well, looks absolutely insane. Extra stars for the post match Punk suffering performance and the cinematic shots of him going backstage and the gone girl promo he cuts.
KENTA & Naomichi Marufuji vs. Kota Ibushi & KUDO (NOAH Differ Cup 2005) - You cringe you lose. Some really nasty bumps and stiff work (are you surprised?). Kota torturing session. Lots of slapping. Kota's hair is also really terrible.
