I used to have oily skin. "Used to" because for the last 2 years my skin type changed from oily to normal (which was confirmed by a licensed cosmetologist). . . 🛢️And this is mostly due to changes I made to my skin care routine. . . 🛢️The basic aim of oily skin care is removal of excessive sebum from the skin while not stripping off completely all protective oil.   . . 🛢️ Stripping of too much oil will trigger your oil glands to produce more oil. . . 🛢️There are the most common mistakes people make that cause too much sebum production: . . 🛢️🛢️washing your face more than twice a day using harsh foamy cleansers . . 🛢️🛢️skipping on serums and moisturizers . . 🛢️🛢️using pore-clogging products (for example, products with mineral oil will clog your pores) . . 🛢️🛢️using harsh scrubs and cleansing brushes – too much rubbing and scrubbing removes skin oil and damages outer protective barrier . . 🛢️🛢️overusing products with salicylic acid – this acid is excellent for removing excessive skin oil, however, if you overuse the products with it, you will remove too much oil.  Also, salicylic acid causes thining of protective skin barrier (please, read about outer protective skin barrier, it is really important to understand its function) . . 🛢️🛢️using products that contain alcohol – alcohol dries skin and removes skin oil. . . 🛢️Does anyone have any tips on how to care for oily skin? . . . . . #mvville #oilyskincare #oilyskincareroutine #oilyskintips #instaskincareproducts #instaskincarecommunity #matteskin #skincareessentials #discoverunder500 #discoverunder1000 https://www.instagram.com/p/CD0EfZSnqSc/?igshid=jtze6kvi6qz9
