Cockatrice

Cockatrice are one of the most common domestic fowl species in the world. They are mostly bred for their eggs and meat, but some are bred for being pets. Cockatrice are known for being emotive and temperamental, most especially when they have their chicks. They are stupendous mothers and are sometimes used to incubate or help raise another animal’s young. Although there are 100’s of breeds of cockatrice throughout the world, there are mostly bred 4 general categories: egg-laying, meat-producing, dual purpose, and show. Gallus cockatrice are the most commonly seen for egg-laying and sometimes even fighting. Their fan of feathers, long tail, and high body temperature are perfect for laying and even incubating eggs. Mavgo cockatrice are more commonly bred for their meat. They have more fatty meat and a ticker tail for this reason. Pachia cockatrice are a dual purpose breed. They have fluffy feathers and a rounder, fattier body for harvesting both their meat and their eggs. Lastly, the Silkie cockatrice are mostly bred for being pets. They are a lot more amicable and friendly than the rest of the other breeds. They are well-behave and intelligent enough to respond to more complex commands. They have the intelligence of a 5 year old. Although the rest of the breeds aren’t usually pets, that does not mean that they can’t make great pets. They are full of personality, just slightly more temperamental.
